Whenever I come to Asakusa, I come here quite often! When it comes to Skytree and eel rice bowl, this is the place to go. Of course, the eel rice bowl is delicious with fluffy and glossy eel and tasty sauce, so the rice goes down smoothly. Delicious as always today! 😋

Enjoyed a stroll around Edo with fun friends. Everywhere was bustling due to the long holiday weekend! Thanks to our reservation, we were able to smoothly enter the restaurant without waiting in line. We had pre-ordered the whole eel course, and started off with a toast with beer! The appetizer had a new texture with a slightly salty eel ham - delicious! This definitely calls for some sake - we ordered a cold 2-go sake. Next up was eel bone senbei, which we enjoyed with some table salt. The grilled skewers were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The eel kabayaki was soft and melted in our mouths. We also enjoyed the red wine along with the second sake. Just when we thought we were done, the staff surprised us with three more dishes - eel sashimi, pickled eel tea, and warabi mochi for dessert. Despite being full, we managed to enjoy all the dishes. It was a satisfying meal at a great restaurant. As the famous author Shota Nozawa once said, it's nice to enjoy some pickles while waiting for the eel to cook at an eel restaurant, but we were still growing and enjoyed every bite! It was delicious! Thank you for the meal.

I accidentally jumped at the eel, but it was delicious. Hmm, the person eating salted hittsumabushi seemed to really like it, and those who tried it also enjoyed the salted hittsumabushi. I'll try it next time. The skewers and beer were also excellent. The seats were spacious and it felt luxurious, making it suitable for business dinners or dates. It's also convenient being close to the station this summer. I definitely want to go again.

The hitsumabushi here, enjoyed with sansho pepper and salt, is so delicious that you'll want to eat it again. The first bowl with sansho pepper and salt, the second bowl with sansho pepper, salt, and wasabi, and the third bowl topped with yuzu and nori in dashi broth. It was really tasty this time too. Thank you for the meal. Mama Michelin rating: a place to go with family, with kids, or on a date.

Three of us ordered two sets of pair courses and one individual course. We also ordered a plate of horse sashimi to share. It was our first time trying rabbit head and offal skewers, but they seemed a bit overcooked. The dessert, matcha warabi mochi, had too much matcha flavor, making it taste a bit off. Considering the price, maybe just ordering the rabbit set would have been sufficient.

I went to Unatei with a friend on this day. We couldn't get a table on the 2nd floor so we sat on the 1st floor, but we had a great time. The skewers were delicious as always, even though one type was sold out and we only had four types to choose from. We also enjoyed a variety of drinks.

I had a large serving of salted hitsumabushi, smoked eel ham, and a lemon sour. The salted hitsumabushi was just right in terms of saltiness and perfect for the summer season. The texture and taste of the grilled eel were great, and the garnishes were flavorful. The clear broth had a good flavor, and considering the location, the prices were quite reasonable. I wish there were more shiso and yuzu as garnishes, and the broth could have been better enjoyed with dashi tea. The smoked eel ham had a nice smoky aroma and a delicious taste. The lemon sour had a good balance of flavors and went well with the dishes. Overall, the hitsumabushi and skewers were affordable, but the individual dishes seemed a bit overpriced. The service was a bit slow, and the place tends to get crowded easily, so making a reservation might be necessary.

I went to Asakusa just to eat eel today ^_^ I wanted to order eel over rice, but since it was my first time in Tokyo, I decided to try Hitsumabushi at Unatetsu instead. Before the Hitsumabushi, I had some grilled eel liver skewers. They were so delicious that I couldn't resist ordering two skewers. They were freshly grilled and had a rich, savory flavor. It was too delicious! Next, I had the Asakusa Hitsumabushi solo set. The sauce was incredibly delicious. For the first serving, I ate it as it was. When I took a bite with the shiso leaves and seaweed, the aroma and the savory flavor of the grilled eel were amazing. I was knocked out by the liver blow in the first serving. For the second serving, I mixed in the condiments (green onions and real wasabi). The combination of grilled eel and real wasabi was too good. I managed to stand up, but then I was hit with a left hook and knocked down again. For the third serving, I topped it with condiments and poured some broth to make eel rice. I delivered a knockout punch with all my strength. It was amazing! Thank you for the meal!

I stopped by a shop across from Asakusa Matsuya that had a nice smell of eel, for a slightly late lunch. I chose salt over sauce for my hitsumabushi. The "Only One in the World" salt hitsumabushi surprisingly went well with it. The sweetness also enhanced the deliciousness of the eel.

I came here wanting to enjoy eel, as this is the birthplace of hitsumabushi in Tokyo. I chose the White Grilled Course for ¥9,880. The main dishes are hitsumabushi and unaju, and I chose unaju that day. The white grilled eel comes with freshly grated wasabi, which you grate yourself. The fluffy white grilled eel with freshly grated wasabi was excellent! I also ordered a drink separately, so the total came to just over ¥12,000 per person.

The dishes I ate are as shown in the photo. I also had two small bottles of beer for 830 yen each and about two highballs (forgot the price). We went with a large group and decided on this place because it seemed like we could get in quickly. Other people ordered eel rice bowls and such. The taste overall was not bad. The hitsumabushi was pretty good too. We were in a tourist area, and we could see that famous cloud-like monument outside the window, and maybe even the Skytree (I'm not interested, so I don't know). I'm about half-tourist myself, but I'm not interested in sightseeing. What surprised me the most was the size of the eel rice bowl. I thought it was around 4000 yen at Matsuya, which seemed reasonable, but I didn't take a picture because it wasn't mine, but when the bowl came out, it was about 60% of the size that the average person (I consider myself an average person) imagines. So, if you divide 4000 yen by 0.6, it would be equivalent to about 6666 yen in the average size. They probably downsized it to keep it at this price point to avoid shocking everyone with 6600 yen. It's a good strategy for a tourist area, and I don't think it's too expensive either. The skewers were tasty, but they didn't explain what they were, so I couldn't tell. They spoke in Kansai dialect, but I didn't bother to call a waiter for an explanation. The waiter's response was just passable. If I were alone, I would have liked to try going to Hoppy Street, but I probably won't go to Asakusa again in my lifetime, so that's a bit disappointing.

This was the first time I enjoyed eel in so many different ways other than unadon. The eel skewers, in particular, were amazing. Each skewer had a different part of the eel with its own unique taste and flavor. I was impressed by how each part had a distinct taste. The eel went perfectly with the Japanese sake. The eel meat was fatty, the liver had a slight bitterness, and the head was fluffy and delicious. The hitsumabushi was also authentic and easy to eat. This restaurant may cater more to tourists as it closes early, but I plan to visit the Shinjuku branch next time. Winter is a good time for eel as it becomes fattier, so I will try out other menu items before then.

Weekend, around 12:30 pm. There was a line. I put my name on the waiting list and waited for about 40 minutes before being seated. It seems like not a good idea to come on a Sunday. Maybe reservations are necessary. - Negima (Green onion with chicken) / 200 yen - Chicken wings / 370 yen - Assorted set of 5 items / 2,220 yen - Double portion / 7,060 yen The set includes kabuto (chicken head), hire (chicken neck), kimo (chicken liver), tanshaku (chicken gizzard), and reba (chicken liver). The kabuto has a slight fishy smell. The hire is rich and fatty. The kimo is delicious without any off-flavors. The tanshaku is grilled without steaming, with delicious fat. The reba is salt-grilled and a unique delicacy. And to finish, the double portion. The kabayaki is grilled on a charcoal fire, and cutting it makes it easier to eat. The aroma of charcoal adds to the experience, making it another delicious dish.

I tried hitsumabushi with salt seasoning for the first time. It was my first time having hitsumabushi without sauce. I was taught how to eat it and tried it. Hmm, it was delicious. The eel was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It was tasty when eaten with sansho salt, and I quickly finished it as the broth was a bit light. Thank you for the meal.

As a finishing touch to my stroll in Asakusa, I wanted to eat an eel bowl while looking at the Skytree, so I entered the restaurant. If you sit on the second floor by the window, you can see the Skytree. I ordered liver grilled eel as a snack while drinking beer. The liver grilled eel was a bit smelly, but that's the unique flavor of river fish. In addition to eel skewers and liver sashimi, they also serve hitsumabushi and hitsumabushi with salt here, but if you want to eat eel, the eel bowl is the best choice. I also ordered pickles and liver sweet potatoes (extra charge). The eel was also a bit smelly, but you can taste the unique flavor of river fish. The rice was cooked perfectly. The sauce was light, and it goes well with sprinkled sansho pepper.

There are many eel restaurants, so what is the chain? I visited the Asakusa branch for the first time - the interior was clean and spacious, and I felt comfortable. The price of the eel was reasonable and good. The portion of the box lunch was a bit small, so those who eat a lot might want to go for the large size! It comes with liver sashimi and pickles - the pickles were delicious! Some eel restaurants serve thinly pickled eel, but this one was soaked properly, which I really liked!

It's been a while since we went as a family. The staff on the second floor were kind and cheerful, so we had a good time. We really wanted to have salted hitsumabushi at the end, so we started with some appetizers. It was cold, so we had hot sake. Finally, the three of us shared two bowls of salted hitsumabushi. It was delicious as always.

On this day, we walked from Ryogoku to Asakusa around 6pm. Our goal was to go eat eel. My side job was decided, and my partner prepared a celebration for me. What a kind partner...thanks! ✨ So, we went to a place called Unatetsu that was recommended by my partner's colleague. We ordered Hitsumabushi, and since there were both salt and sauce options, we ordered two to share. At first, both my partner and I were saying "I'm not a big fan of putting dashi on rice," but...it was delicious! ✨ Yes, we underestimated Hitsumabushi. It was so tasty. Eel is really deep. And most importantly, it goes well with beer. Since we were in Asakusa, we had Asahi beer, of course. Asakusa is the place with the poop-shaped clouds on the building! As for how to eat it, first we had it as it is. Mixing the eel and rice feels quite bold! Then we poured the dashi on it. The sauce had a fragrant soy sauce aroma. The salt was simple, bringing out the flavor of the ingredients. It's good to eat it as it is, but since they provided condiments, we added them in. Sansho pepper, wasabi, shiso leaves, etc... Mmm, changing the flavor is also nice! Actually, I hadn't eaten eel for about 10 years. (The last time was during a business trip in Nagoya at my previous job) Oh, I was moved to be able to eat it again after so long. The staff at the restaurant were all so kind. Just by ordering, they asked, "Will you be sharing this?" They were so attentive. Thank you very much! And it was incredibly delicious! Thank you for the meal! ===========

The bright interior of the restaurant provided a burst of energy on a very hot day. I decided to visit this place after seeing this post about it. The grilled eel and ham were delicious, as well as the skewers. Finally, I tried the famous hitsumabushi, which was also excellent. I was sweating a lot, so I replenished my fluids and salt intake with a plum sour drink.
