The Chinese restaurant "Chen Chenken" in Ameyoko, Ueno, is bustling with energy today. The restaurant, which started its history in 1948, is known as a popular old-fashioned Chinese restaurant that pioneered the shopping street. Their specialties are Tanmen, fried rice, and dumplings. Among them, the recommended dish by Mitomi Emon is the fried rice. It is a simple fried rice with roast pork, leeks, and eggs. Each grain of rice is coated with oil, giving it a fluffy texture and a surprisingly light and delicious taste. The Tanmen has a salty soup with the umami of vegetables well blended in. It would be a great dish to finish off a night of enjoying drinks. The dumplings are cooked with a crispy sear on one side, adding a nice flavor accent. The filling is moist overall, with the crunchy texture of cabbage and the flavor of chives wrapped inside. This is perfect as a snack. A perfect choice for experiencing the history and atmosphere of Ameyoko, a traditional Chinese restaurant in Ueno. How about adding it to your dining options during your Ueno trip?

The meals here mainly consist of rice and dumplings, but the soup that comes with rice dishes is delicious. From this, I inferred that it might be better to eat ramen here instead of fried rice or dumplings. This time, I decided to skip the rice and go for noodles. As usual, there was a long line, with both the restaurant and neighboring shops crowded. After being seated at a terrace table, I ordered a Wonton Ramen for 800 yen, along with a bottle of beer for 600 yen and a Char Siu plate for 500 yen. The Char Siu was delicious, with tender yet flavorful meat. The soup was simple but tasty, and the noodles had a satisfying texture. The Wonton skins were firm, and the filling was also good. The Menma and green pea shoots added a nice touch to the dish. I usually don't add pepper to my ramen, but here, it was the right choice. The addition of pepper elevated the flavors of the soup and noodles. It was a delicious meal.

A short walk from Ueno Station. I saw this place on YouTube while in the hospital and thought I'd like to go there. I ordered the fried rice for 800 yen. First, they brought out the fried rice soup. It had a clear taste. Then came the fried rice. It arrived in just a few minutes. Fast! And delicious! Simple ingredients like egg and green onions... probably (laughs). I have an unsophisticated palate. Anyway, the saltiness was just right. It was delicious. I'm curious about the ramen too, but today is fried rice day! It was really tasty.

I felt like writing after a long time! Because it was so delicious♡♡ I always passed by this place but never got to go in because it was always crowded. But when I went early in the morning, I got in. After that, more and more customers came. I was worried if my stomach, weak from a hangover, could handle morning ramen, but I had no problem at all and finished it in one go! I was debating between Tanmen and Salt Ramen, but I chose Salt Ramen. It was the perfect choice!!! The clear soup in a beautiful bowl made my heart dance when it arrived. I've had so much Salt Ramen just to meet this one. It was so delicious. I don't know the details as usual, but it was refreshing without being overwhelming, yet it had a strong salt flavor. And the smooth noodles were slightly shorter, making them easy to slurp. This is quite important to me! I saw in other reviews that the fried rice is a must-try, so next time I'll have the fried rice. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Flavor: Excellent Visited again not long after the last visit. Had the fried rice and Tanmen. Arrived at 10:10 in the morning and it was almost full, managed to slip into a shared seat. There was a long line, including inbound customers, and it was very crowded. Today I had the Tanmen and fried rice, waited for about 10 minutes. The fried rice was delicious, just the right amount of salt. The Tanmen soup was also delicious, with a strong broth. Over 50 years old, the portions of the fried rice and Tanmen were too much, but they were delicious, so I ate it all and was very satisfied! It seems quite difficult to get in at night with such a long line.

When I was having a daytime drink, I couldn't help but notice Chen Chen Xuan, a popular restaurant facing the street. Despite the long line, the turnover was good and the fried rice was incredibly delicious. I love local Chinese restaurants like this! I wanted to try the ramen too, but I'll save it for next time.

You can walk from Ueno Station or Okachimachi Station, it's about a 6-7 minute walk. They serve a perfect mix of fluffy and moist fried rice. When you sit down, you get complimentary pickled cucumbers. I feel like having a beer with this. The outdoor seating is unbearable in the scorching sun. I devour the fried rice while listening to the sizzling of the wok. This is perfect. Thank you for the meal! Next time, I'll come back for some drinks. Check out their Instagram at [@party._people._].

It tastes like the delicious fried rice from a good Chinese restaurant that everyone imagines. It comes with soup and pickles. In Ueno, there is another Chinese restaurant called Chinman, but if you want dumplings, Chinman is recommended, and if you want fried rice, Chin-Chin-ken is recommended. Both are delicious. Also, Chinman has a roof, so it's easy to go on rainy days or too hot days, while Chin-Chin-ken is located in an area with many bars, making it easy to visit before returning to Ueno Station after drinking.

About half a year ago, I watched a preparation video on YouTube and was impressed by the thorough work shown. Finally, I had the chance to visit on a Sunday when they opened at 10:00 am. As soon as I walked in, the place was already packed with a 5-minute wait list. The hall was bustling with regulars and inbound customers, managed by a seasoned older lady who seemed busy juggling serving drinks and keeping up with orders. I ordered fried rice, dumplings, and a side of cucumber pickles. The soup that came with the fried rice was delicious, made without relying on artificial seasonings. The pickled cucumbers were homemade and tasty. The fried rice was excellent, with freshly cooked rice and great seasoning. The handmade dumplings were also delicious, filled generously with meat and had a chewy texture. There are many fake restaurants in Ueno, but this one is the real deal. I'm glad to have found this place in Ueno and will definitely be back.

I visited at lunchtime. Waited for about 4 groups. I had fried rice and dumplings. I went there because it was highly rated on YouTube. It was delicious. However, considering the price and the fact that it's a street stall, I would say the rating is about this much.

I had a drink in the Ueno area and decided to head to Ameyoko. While wandering around, I stumbled upon this restaurant. It had a casual, open-air stall vibe which I really liked. I ordered a bottle of beer, yakisoba, and gyoza. The gyoza arrived first, big and juicy with a great texture. Then came the yakisoba, which was a generous portion meant for sharing. The flavors were not too strong, and the noodles were chewy and delicious. I spent about an hour enjoying the nostalgic atmosphere and satisfying food!

I encountered incredibly delicious fried rice and dumplings under the train guard at Ameyoko. The fried rice was perfect with eggs, meat, and green onions mixed well with the rice. The soup that came with the fried rice had green onions in it and even though the bowl was big, I drank it all up because it was so good. The dumplings were filled generously and the chewy skin paired perfectly with the filling. Just so delicious! I will definitely be a regular customer. I want to visit every day. I will try other menu items on my next visit.

Under the elevated train tracks in Ueno, they open at 10 in the morning. As soon as they opened, there were already customers there. I ordered a bottle of beer and some gyoza. The gyoza took a while to cook, so I added some negi chashu. The negi chashu was a great appetizer. It was quite a generous portion and went well with the drinks. I wonder if cucumber comes out when you order alcohol? I'm not sure, but it makes a good side dish. The gyoza had a thick and chewy skin, not much browning but crispy. About halfway through, it gets hot because the air conditioning doesn't work well. Next time, I'll come when I'm hungry and try the fried rice or noodles. The fried rice looked really delicious.

This restaurant is located near Ueno Station, where you are tempted by "Curry Ace" under the elevated tracks but continue walking towards Okachimachi, turning your back on "Meat Oyama" at the busy intersection under the tracks, and checking on the left for the famous jumbo dumplings at "Shoryu" before looking to the right. Visited at 11:30 am on a weekday. Being halfway outside, unsure when to call out to the staff. The place is almost full (a beginner under the Ueno elevated tracks!). When I awkwardly said "I'm alone," the staff promptly directed me to the counter. Everyone around me seemed to be either having lunch or drinking. Everything on the menu looked delicious. I heard a lot of people ordering fried rice (800 yen), so I decided to go with that too. I noticed someone putting chili oil on cucumber, so I followed suit. The fried rice had only eggs, green onions, and char siu. It was between "light" and "moist," making you crave for more side dishes. The soup was also delicious, with a rich flavor that complemented the fried rice. The chili oil on the cucumber also paired well with the fried rice, showing great teamwork. I also heard orders for dumplings and liver with leeks. Customers were coming and going quickly, creating a lively atmosphere. I definitely need to come back. It was really delicious. Thank you for the meal!

This is a Chinese restaurant located under the guard at Ueno Station. Machichuka is famous for its fried rice. It is a popular restaurant and sometimes there are lines. The atmosphere inside is not very cozy, with a semi-open store. I ordered Liver and Leek Tanmen for 900 yen and Fried Rice for 800 yen. Liver and Leek Tanmen is a traditional salty tanmen with liver and leek on top. The taste is like a typical tanmen from a local Chinese restaurant. The liver has a somewhat old-fashioned texture and a subtle liver flavor, which is a drawback. The fried rice is cooked perfectly. It is a simple fried rice with few ingredients, seasoned in the style of a local Chinese restaurant. It doesn't feel greasy and hot like freshly cooked fried rice, which is why I think it's a delicious fried rice in the local Chinese restaurant category. If there is a line, I don't think it's worth waiting, but if it's not crowded, it's a good local Chinese restaurant.

I stopped by the President Honten, a popular restaurant, at 10 in the morning and it was already crowded. I ordered my usual egg fried rice and dumplings, which were delicious as always. The fried rice was flavorful and the dumplings were tasty. I enjoyed my meal and left before it got too busy. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Dumplings 500, Ramen 700, Fried Rice 800, Menma 300, Large Beer 600. The first stop of the Ueno Ameyoko bar hopping is here. Established in 1948, this long-standing Chinese restaurant is always packed, but on this day there were only two groups waiting in line and we were seated in about 10 minutes. The seating area is mostly outside under the overpass, but it's shady and surprisingly cool despite the hot weather. We ordered the three classic Chinese dishes: Ramen, Fried Rice, and Dumplings. In conclusion, they were all simply delicious. The Fried Rice was very simple but tasty, with just eggs, bits of char siu, and a little green onion. It was perfectly moist and flavorful. The Ramen was also delicious, with a rich chicken and dried fish soy sauce broth, low-hydration Chinese noodles, and toppings like char siu, snow peas, Menma, and green onions. The Dumplings were also great, with a perfectly browned exterior and a generous filling mainly made of cabbage. The crunchiness of the cabbage was irresistible. We also ordered Menma as a snack, and it was delicious and filling. We quickly finished two large bottles of beer.

I visited this restaurant today, which I had been curious about since I visited a nearby famous gyoza restaurant before. I arrived at the restaurant at 11:30 and joined the back of the line. The location is within walking distance from Ueno Station and Okachimachi Station. When it was my turn, I was seated at the counter. I decided on my order while waiting in line, and I ordered the following: - Fried rice (¥800 tax included) - Gyoza (¥500 tax included) While waiting, they served Chinese soup first. The bowl was full and piping hot. The soup was dark in color but had just the right amount of saltiness. While enjoying the soup, the fried rice and gyoza arrived. The fried rice was simple in appearance and taste, easy to eat, which seems to be popular among customers. The gyoza came in a set of 5. I was dining alone, so I couldn't choose the number of pieces like at the neighboring restaurant, but they were hot, with chewy skin and a filling with plenty of vegetables. I finished them quickly and would like to visit again!

Visited a restaurant featured on YouTube called "Mokuhana" because the fried rice looked delicious. Arrived on Wednesday at 8:43 PM. The restaurant was full with a waiting list of 3 people, mostly male customers. They were mostly pairs of men drinking beer. There was also a solo customer and only one young couple. After a few minutes, we were seated at the counter. We ordered the following from the menu: - Fried Rice 800 yen - Gyoza (5 pieces) 500 yen Total 1,300 yen The fried rice arrived in about 5 minutes. Surprisingly, it wasn't greasy, and had a nice crispy flavor from being cooked in a pan. The saltiness was also mild and easy to eat. The gyoza arrived 3 minutes later. The gyoza had a chewy skin and while the filling didn't overflow with juices, it had a good flavor when bitten into. We quickly finished both dishes. In this street food-like atmosphere, I thought it would be even more enjoyable to hop around a few more places for beer and snacks. Thank you for the meal.

The ramen shop is popular even in the 10 o'clock hour, with customers waiting. The basic ramen is 700 yen and you can really taste the essence of ramen in it. If you get the chashu thin or the menma a bit less, it would be 600 yen and give a different impression. The fried rice is 800 yen and has a nice texture and generous ingredients like egg, chashu, and green onions, though they are a bit scarce. The dumplings are 500 yen and have a deliciously chewy skin.

We will follow the visit of Tamadai Kintaro, the black belt of the town Chinese restaurant, to a shop under the Ueno Ameyoko guard. I chose steamed pork with the flavor of ramen soup, the essence of lemon sour and town Chinese cuisine. I mix the pork and shredded cabbage with a sauce similar to ponzu. This is just right for a hot day, refreshing and delicious. For the finishing touch, I had the popular fried rice. Just watching the chef shake the pan vigorously already gives a sense of how delicious it will be. And when you eat it, it's spot on! It's a simple, fluffy fried rice that everyone loves. That's why it's always crowded whenever you come.
