nabechawan
A long-established sushi restaurant in front of Shinagawa Station, with over 60 years of history. It is located less than a minute's walk from Shinagawa Station, making it a prime location. Today, I made a reservation in advance to dine with a former colleague. We reserved the most popular course for 4,500 yen. We visited at 7:00 PM and were seated at a table seat with a sunken kotatsu. There were a few customers at the counter seats. My colleague does not drink alcohol, and I have decided to abstain from alcohol on weekdays, so we did not have any drinks today. The course included: - 3 appetizers - Chawanmushi (savory egg custard) - Assorted sashimi - Grilled fish - Assorted sushi The appetizers included boiled wakasagi fish, pickled radish, and tsubugai (whelk), which were not to my liking, so my excitement dropped slightly. However, the assorted sashimi was very fresh and delicious, making me crave sake. The chawanmushi had a creamy texture that was delightful. The grilled fish, possibly isaki, was cooked to perfection, making me crave sake once again. The meal ended with sushi, including maguro, squid, shrimp, and tamago (egg), among others. The sushi was decent for an authentic sushi restaurant, with well-pressed rice and a modest amount of wasabi. While the fish may have been fresh, I couldn't taste much of the fish's richness. The price of 4,500 yen for this course felt a bit steep. We ended up spending around 10,000 yen for two people without alcohol. It was a bit unsatisfying, but I would like to try their lunch menu next time.
