It had been a while since I was in Shibuya for work, so I came here! I managed to arrive just before the 20:00 closing time at 19:30, after a 10-hour non-stop work day. I wanted to have a light drink, so I ordered a beer! I received complimentary rice first, topped it with table condiments of spicy pickled mustard greens, and enjoyed it as a snack while drinking beer. It was great! Cheers to myself for a hard day's work! The dishes I ordered were: - Tan Tan Men with Spare Ribs - Tan Tan Men with Spare Ribs and Flavored Egg I asked for extra sesame in the Tan Tan Men, and when it was served, I placed a spare rib on top of the spicy pickled mustard greens rice, poured the sesame-rich soup over the spare rib, and the Spare Rib Tan Tan Men with Flavored Egg was complete. Honestly, I don't eat Tan Tan Men from anywhere else but this restaurant. It's that delicious. The perfect balance of slight sourness and spiciness. I usually don't like Tan Tan Men because the sesame flavor in the soup is too strong and the soup is often lukewarm. But the Tan Tan Men here is the ultimate Tan Tan Men for me. I will definitely come back again!

I ordered the Paiko Tantanmen for 980 yen and added a seasoned egg for 120 yen. Although they also offer chilled Tantanmen in the summer, I decided to stick with the default hot option, learning from past experiences. I requested it to be extra spicy and not too heavy on the sesame. As a result, the balance between the animal-based broth and spiciness, which is a highlight of this restaurant, was slightly diluted. Despite sweating profusely, I managed to finish the soup and replenish my salt intake. Today, Shibuya's soul food was delicious as always.

●Ramen Wanderings Vol.1902023/9/XX (Lunch)Visited this place that continues the taste of the famous restaurant "Asuka". It's great that they are open on Sundays. I arrived at 12:45 and was able to enter without waiting. You first purchase a ticket from the machine before lining up. ◾️Pork bone tantanmen @1,080 yen (tax included)The interior has two rows of counter seats and no table seats. It is bright and clean. The soup is slightly salty, with a subtle sesame flavor. On the other hand, the spiciness of the chili oil is strong and just right. I wish I could have felt more of the flavor of animal and vegetable broth. The noodles are thin straight noodles with a firm texture and a good chew. The pork bone is crispy and juicy, lacking in thickness but full of umami. The spicy and Chinese-style seasoning of the pork bone is also good, and I think the overall quality is high. I also enjoyed putting the pork bone on the free rice to make pork bone rice. *There is pickled mustard greens on the table, which goes well with rice. Overall, the soup here is different from the high-quality sesame-flavored tantanmen like "Kisurin" or "Aun", but it has a good junky taste that can be addictive. In that sense, it reminds me of the pork bone tantanmen at "Hashigo". The service, including greetings, is polite. It seems like a place where a woman alone or a couple can easily enter. Thank you for the meal.

Arrived around 11:05 on Saturday, got my bowl at 11:16. Probably got in on the first rotation, no waiting in line. Ordered the pork tantanmen with free rice from the ticket machine on the top left. Got my food before the person next to me who arrived earlier, even though we ordered the same thing. They seemed really upset about it. Reminded me of the "hashigo" I was used to in Shinbashi. Not sure if there's any connection to Dan Dan noodles. The pork tantanmen here is almost the same as what I'm used to, but with a slightly stronger sesame flavor. The sesame paste didn't fully dissolve and was floating in clumps (I thought it was a meatball at first). The sesame flavor is emphasized, with mild spiciness and a hint of sourness, making it delicious.

I wanted to eat noodles around Shibuya Station after a long time, so I started searching. I found a highly rated restaurant in the direction I wanted to go, so I decided to try it even though I don't usually eat tantanmen. I arrived just before the opening, so I was the second customer to enter. I ordered the cold tantanmen and sat at the table farthest from the entrance. It arrived in less than 10 minutes, and I immediately started eating. The pork ribs on top were so delicious that I felt like having a beer with it as a snack! The noodles were also delicious. I rarely eat tantanmen, but I will definitely come back. Next time, I want to try the tantan tsukemen.

I am a tantanmen lover, but this was my first time at this particular Paiko shop in Shibuya. I went for lunch on a holiday and was able to get in without waiting in line. Shibuya seems crowded with working people on weekdays, so I lucked out this time. I ordered the summer cold Paiko and the traditional Paiko for comparison. They offered free rice and the option of a smaller portion. The dishes arrived and looked delicious. The first bite was tasty! The soup had a depth of flavor with a hint of vinegar, making it easy to eat. The Paiko was surprisingly crispy and enjoyable. The traditional style had a different soup flavor, lacking the spiciness of tantanmen but still rich in umami from the broth. Overall, it started off with high praise but gradually lost its appeal as it became a bit too salty. Perhaps it was due to the extra rice or maybe I'm getting older and can't handle snacks as well. Thankfully, the rice wasn't too salty. If I were a student, I feel like I would have been a regular customer. Thank you for the meal!

Visited on Sunday after 1pm. Had to line up to buy food tickets, but was able to enter smoothly. Rice comes for free. There is also pickled vegetables on the table. The only alcohol option is small bottled beer. The Spicy Tantanmen was moderately spicy, but made me sweat a lot! The portion of noodles was quite generous.

Visited the restaurant known for its pork rib tantanmen. The meat was crispy and delicious. The spiciness of the tantanmen is mild enough for those who don't like spicy food. You can also ask for a milder version. They offer free rice service all day, not just for lunch. The portion of noodles is small, so getting a large size might be a good idea.

Pork bone tantanmen for 1,080 yen. No wait around 2 pm on weekdays but almost full. Took only 5 minutes for the dish to arrive. Similar to the one I had in Jinbocho called "Gonoi" as they have the same roots. They offer free rice but I didn't have any since it was my second meal of the day. The soup is quite refreshing but spicier than Gonoi. It was just the right level of spiciness for me. The pork bone meat is delicious, but I think Gonoi had a more crispy and juicy texture. Lesson learned from having two meals in a row.

Arrived at the restaurant after 3 pm. Since it was well past lunchtime, there was only one person inside. I ordered the Pork Rib Tan Tan Men for 1080 yen. The Tan Tan Men had a light soup with a hint of spiciness rather than a strong sesame flavor. It wasn't addictive, but it was a well-rounded dish. The pork ribs on top were particularly delicious.

During the daytime, there were few visitors, I ordered the Tsukemen which was easy to eat. I added extra Menma, which was soft and plentiful, perfect for a chopstick break. The noodles were smooth and chewy, on the softer side, and the spiciness made it easy to slurp up. Overall, it was well-balanced and delicious, but it felt a bit lacking, so getting a large serving might be necessary.

It had been a while since I last visited Shibuya, and because it was so hot and humid, I wanted to eat something cold. I ordered the cold spicy pork bone tantan noodles. The spicy flavor paired with the cold noodles and warm pork bones was delicious, and after eating it, I felt cooler. Next time I come, I want to try the warm noodles too.

During my first visit, I enjoyed the nostalgic taste of that famous restaurant nearby while devouring pork rib tantanmen with a generous serving of pickled mustard greens on top of the complimentary rice. I found myself sweating as I reminisced about the flavors, wondering if the pork ribs were always this thin. Nevertheless, I savored every bite and slurped the soup until I finished everything on my plate.

I came to this famous restaurant known for its Pai Tan Tanmen, but mistakenly ordered the Pai Soy Sauce Ramen (¥1,080) from the ticket vending machine. I thought that the Pai Soy Sauce Ramen had both a salt and soy sauce flavor, but I only realized afterwards that there were other menu options besides the Tan Tanmen. Although this review is not for the Tan Tanmen, I ate it while comparing it to my favorite Keisurin and Hashigo. The thickness of the noodles and the lightness of the soup reminded me of Hashigo. The soy sauce soup didn't have any distinctive features and tasted like a regular soy sauce ramen. The Pai Tan Tanmen was similar to the famous Pai Tan Tanmen shop. Overall, the soy sauce ramen was just average, and even if it had been the Tan Tanmen, I didn't like it enough to come back specifically for it. Also, although it was early after opening, the free rice was quite disappointing as it was far from the shiny, freshly cooked rice.

I felt like eating at this restaurant regularly and headed straight for their dan dan noodles! Since I arrived at a time slightly off the lunch rush, I was able to enter the restaurant smoothly. I greeted the friendly manager and ordered the large serving of hot dan dan noodles this time since the cold spicy pork dan dan noodles were so delicious. The combination of white sesame and spiciness was exquisite, and adding pickled mustard greens on top made it even more delicious when mixed with rice! The soup was addictive, making it a place where you'll want to eat again soon.

Today, I got a haircut in the morning and headed to Shibuya with a fresh head. I found a shop in Sakura-zaka, right in front of Ramen Sakurazaka. I tried the slightly spicy ramen today. The main pork ribs had a unique smell from the fried meat, which I didn't find particularly delicious. The meat was smaller than expected, so it seemed to be fried until crispy. If this is the standard for pork ribs, it's just a matter of personal preference. The soup of the tantanmen was more spicy than flavorful, lacking the numbing sensation. If it's a tantanmen specialty shop, I would expect at least an option for adding Sichuan pepper or some table-side condiments. In terms of taste, the tantanmen specialty shops I usually go to all have a depth of flavor beyond the spiciness, which I didn't feel here. The straight noodles went well with the spicy soup of the tantanmen, and the free rice and delicious pickled vegetables on the table were a nice touch. It was a bit off from my preferred tantanmen and the pork ribs were mediocre, so this might be a one-time visit.

The shop that was missed and closed in Shibuya was a hot topic for its revival. I was curious about it but hadn't had a chance to go, so I visited despite the lingering summer heat. It was a bit rough, but that's what makes it good. I added a seasoned egg and cilantro on this day. It was delicious!

Had lunch at Renge no Gotoku, a popular restaurant in Shibuya known for its Pai Ko Tan Tan Men. We arrived a bit late, so we were able to get in without waiting. Both of us ordered the Pork Rib Tan Tan Men for 1080 yen. We also got a free half portion of rice. The ramen arrived in about 5 minutes. When I tried the soup, it was extremely salty. It had the flavor of Tan Tan Men, but the saltiness was overpowering. The pork ribs were delicious with the soup soaked into the batter. Adding vinegar from the table slightly helped to reduce the saltiness. The half portion of rice and pickled vegetables on the table were a perfect match. The combination with the ramen was great. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the service were good. I just wished that the Pai Ko Tan Tan Men was a bit less salty.

At the Shibuya Sakuragaoka redevelopment, the taste of "Asuka" which closed down has been fully revived. A must-try is the "Pork Rib Tan Tan Men" which has been loved for almost half a century at "Asuka". The special "pork rib" with a crispy coating that tastes slightly like curry, combined with the harmony of the soup and thin noodles, truly lives up to its reputation as Shibuya's soul food. The free white rice, with its curry-flavored "pork rib", complements the meal perfectly. Please note that the store closes at 7:00 pm, which is surprisingly early, and cash payment only is accepted.

The last time I visited Ajuga for tantanmen was about 6 years ago. It was around 2 pm on a weekday. The restaurant was about 70-80% full, with many female solo diners. I purchased a meal ticket from the ticket machine on the left and was guided to my seat by the staff. The soup was still the same watery style tantanmen as before. I didn't like it at first, but it has grown on me. The background music in the restaurant at this time was a nostalgic atmosphere with songs from Kobirumaki Kahoru, Akina Nakamori, and Shizuka Kudo from the Showa era.

I had the Pike Tantan Tsukemen for 1080 yen. The pork bone tantanmen is so delicious that I always order the same menu, but because it was too hot, I decided to try the tsukemen. The broth, which had become thicker for tsukemen, coated the noodles well and was just as delicious as the tantanmen. The free rice that comes with it is also much appreciated.

There was no line at 1:00 PM on a weekday, probably due to the intense heat. I ordered the tantanmen with thin noodles. It's not very spicy, so even people who don't like spicy food should be fine. The meat is thin and the portion seems smaller than expected. The noodles are not a large portion, so getting the regular size might be normal. A serving of rice is complimentary. The taste may not be something you'd want to come back for multiple times, but the atmosphere was nice, so I give it a high rating.
