On New Year's Day, I went to Akihabara. It was crowded as usual. Many restaurants were closed for the holiday, so the chain restaurants that were open were all packed. I wanted to sit and rest, but it was impossible. I wandered around until I found this shop. I just wanted to eat something, anything! I ended up choosing a taiyaki set with a coaster for 500 yen, but I didn't really need the coaster. I saw they also had regular taiyaki on the menu, so I opted for that. It had red bean paste and butter inside. Sweet treats are good when you're tired. It's been a while since I had taiyaki from Kurikoan. After this, I'm heading to my parents' house for dinner, so this was just the right amount. I wish I had gotten a drink too.

Located in GiGO5 building in Akihabara. They have collaboration taiyaki with Blue Lock and Pop Team Epic characters. They also offer regular taiyaki. You can find the store at the entrance where you can play crane games. The Blue Lock taiyaki comes with one type of cream in four different character shapes, but you can't choose the character. It's random depending on what's available at the time. Each costs 500 yen and you get a random coaster with each purchase. There are 10 coaster designs in total. I bought two taiyaki, one with Geki and one with Chinatsu. Both were different, which was nice. The fluffy dough with creamy filling was delicious. The coasters I got were of Geki's chibi character and Nagi, a popular character. The Blue Lock taiyaki is available until November 27th. Thank you for the meal.

I don't really understand games, but I tried a popular treat called Imagawayaki. It's a cute character design that looks like Imagawayaki. I chose the chocolate flavor and it was filled with so much chocolate that it dripped from the bottom. Sorry for the messy picture from eating on the go!

I found this place when I went to a nearby Kentucky Fried Chicken, and to my surprise, they had a few rare flavors on their menu, including cheese and camembert cheese. They also offer a variety of other flavors. The taiyaki skin is like a pancake and delicious. If you love taiyaki, you should definitely visit this place. It's located in a unique location inside a game center, but the food is really good.

I'm at an age where I shouldn't be getting hooked on chiikawa. I didn't buy the taiyaki because I wanted to eat it, but because I wanted the free gift that comes with it. But it was actually quite delicious. Was it because it was chiikawa taiyaki? No, it was probably just delicious in general.

At Sega Taiyaki Akihabara store, I tried the "Chiikawa yaki." Normally, I would buy taiyaki at the Sega store in Ikebukuro, but on this day, I happened to be in Akihabara for something else so I decided to purchase it there. Chiikawa yaki is a cute and small taiyaki with a hotcake-like dough. They had two flavors available: premium custard and pistachio cream, and I chose the pistachio cream. It came with a can badge and cost 600 yen, which I thought was quite expensive. But considering it was a limited-time offer and probably involved costs for ordering and purchasing molds, I understood the price. The front and back of the taiyaki have different designs.

Strolling around Akihabara. I went to buy the popular "Chiikawa" taiyaki that is being sold, Sega's taiyaki stand! Chiikawa taiyaki comes in two flavors: pistachio cream or premium cream (custard). It also comes with a can badge for 600 yen. I was mainly interested in the fan item, so I didn't mind the price. I bought the premium cream flavor. The taiyaki had a well-defined character design and was a good size, just the right amount of cuteness. Let's dig in! Hmm, delicious! It's just a regular taiyaki, but the custard is quite rich and there's no sense of cutting corners that is often found in fan items! It's really good! Thank you for the meal!

Sega opened a new branch in Akihabara 5th building in May 2019. This is the second store of Sega's taiyaki, which first opened in Ikebukuro GiGO in April 2018. It is supported by Kurikoan. Starting from April 2021, they introduced a new product called "Chiikawa-yaki"! "Chiikawa" is short for "something small and cute". The quiet protagonist "Chiikawa" and the cheerful and positive best friend "Hachiware". Chiikawa-yaki is a reversible taiyaki with Chiikawa and Hachiware. When I tried to purchase one, it cost 600 yen! A can badge comes with it. The Chiikawa-yaki is thick and heavy. It is filled with plenty of pistachio cream inside, which oozes out when you bite into it. It is a satisfying taiyaki to eat.

★I arrived around 12:30 on a Sunday★There was no wait★The taste was interesting as they had recently made xiaolongbao taiyaki, which was a bit unusual... I finally came to try it today. Since there was no xiaolongbao skin, it was more like a ground meat taiyaki than xiaolongbao. I prefer the regular sweet taiyaki.★I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, but I want to try other items so I will come back another time. So, it was a 3 out of 5.★

There was a taiyaki shop inside the game center, which I decided to try out of curiosity. The shop is operated by a major game maker, and the taiyaki they offer is playful and unique, with quirky characters printed on them. I bought the limited edition sakura bean paste and the classic red bean paste taiyaki. The thickness of the taiyaki dough was surprising, making it a bit difficult to reach the filling, but the dough itself was not too heavy. As I ate through it, I was pleasantly surprised to find a generous amount of filling inside. The bean paste had a high moisture content, creating a good balance with the dough. The price starts from 250 yen, which may be a bit on the expensive side, but I believe it's a well-balanced and thoughtfully made product.

Akihabara Station. Exit the ticket gate and head to the electric town, then go down the road between the drugstore and the game center under the elevated train tracks to find a taiyaki shop supervised by Yokohama Kurikoan. The shop is located between a former pachinko parlor and nearby restaurants like Katsuya and KFC. Yokohama Kurikoan is known for selling a taiyaki in the shape of a Pokemon Magikarp at their Akihabara store, so they may be strong in collaboration items. The shop, in collaboration with SEGA, offers not only regular taiyaki but also SEGA-themed and popular title collaboration taiyaki. On a weekday evening in March, I visited the shop for a quick meal recharge after work. Due to the request for residents to refrain from going out on weekends in March, I visited the shop the day before the last weekend of the month. Until April 6th (Corned Beef Day), SEGA's taiyaki shops in Ikebukuro and Akihabara are collaborating with Nozaki's corned beef. The Ikebukuro shop offers fish-shaped taiyaki, while the Akihabara shop sells taiyaki with corned beef inside a SEGA logo-shaped taiyaki. The corned beef taiyaki was so popular that the sales period was extended. The price of the corned beef taiyaki is 250 yen. I purchased the corned beef taiyaki (with melted cheese) in a paper bag. The taiyaki was slightly warm, so the melted cheese element was not very noticeable. The corned beef was the main flavor, with a hint of cheese. The shop was running a Re:Zero campaign during my visit. Although the broadcast of Re:Zero Season 2 was postponed, the shop offered crane game prizes featuring Re:Zero characters in traditional Japanese clothing. I spent a total of 450 yen playing the crane game, making the taiyaki quite expensive. The shop also sold Love Live! Aqours-themed taiyaki, and the menu featured Aqours members in various poses. Each Aqours taiyaki cost 500 yen and came with a random coaster. It was disappointing that you couldn't choose the character for the Aqours taiyaki. The difficulty level was high as the filling was sweet, unlike savory options like yakisoba or seafood seen in the anime. It would have been nice to have more variety in the fillings.

Sega-yaki shop, no, Sega-yaki shop has exploded at the Sega game center. I am a generation that has grown up alongside the TV games that have now become nostalgic. I was taken aback by the voices of the Sega fans that echoed with the Sega logo. That blue logo is etched into my soul. The moment I saw that baked good, the sound replayed in my mind. The fluffy texture and the unexpectedly large sausage were delicious. If you ever visit Akihabara, how about having a snack here? Thank you for the meal~

Inside the SEGA game center, there was a taiyaki shop that seemed to be operated by the taiyaki chain "Guriko-an". On a Saturday night, there was a small line forming. The shop offered taiyaki with unique designs, such as the SEGA logo or Hatsune Miku. They didn't seem to have the regular Guriko-an taiyaki available, so the prices were a bit higher. The taiyaki was pre-made and the dough was a bit cold and soft. However, the dough was surprisingly delicious and went well with the curry filling inside, which had a subtle umami taste.

"Sega Taiyaki Akihabara Store". Today marks the start of the limited-time collaboration between Sega's arcade in Akihabara and a taiyaki shop, offering the "Miku Dayo-yaki" featuring Hatsune Miku. Wait, Sega has a taiyaki shop too? I always associate Sega with Outrun. Anyway, I was in Tokyo for Wonder Festival and managed to visit on the first day of sales. The store opens at 11 am, but there were already around 10 people in line 30 minutes before. Due to the time it takes to cook the taiyaki(?), there is a limit on the number of each person can buy, maybe up to 3 pieces each. Those wanting more can get a ticket for a later date. I purchased one of each flavor, "Azuki Bean" and "Custard Cream", for 500 yen each. The expiration date is the same day, but they provide a plastic bag for takeaway. Back home, I took a commemorative photo with my Snow Miku figure and the Miku Dayo-yaki. If it gets soggy, you can crisp it up in the oven for 3 minutes. The appearance may not be the best, but the taste is just right, not too sweet and very delicious! Adding butter makes it even better. The Miku Dayo-yaki is available at "Sega Taiyaki Akihabara Store" from July 29, 2019, to September 6, 2019. If you happen to be in Tokyo for events like Summer Comiket, be sure to stop by and try it out.

Today (7/5), Sega 5th building opened in Akihabara! On the first floor, they also opened a "Sega taiyaki" shop following the one in Ikebukuro (❁´ω`❁) The Ikebukuro shop sells regular taiyaki, but the Akihabara shop sells taiyaki in the shape of the word "SEGA"! However, for a limited time, they are offering a special "Puyo Puyo taiyaki"! (◎_◎;) So I bought the Puyo Puyo taiyaki/matcha flavor for 300 yen (tax included). This is a limited edition item available until 7/30. In addition to matcha, there is also a chocolate option. It seems to be supervised by Kuriko-an! The skin is thick (^-^;) The matcha cream is mild and not bitter, suitable even for children. Next, I'll buy the Sega taiyaki (≧▽≦)

It's delicious so I often go there to eat. At 250 yen each, I don't think it's too expensive. However, a major drawback is that there are often mistakes with the filling. I ordered red bean paste but got premium cream instead. I feel like it's wrong about one out of every two times. Since you can't tell the filling until you eat it, I hope they can minimize these mistakes.
