"Sushi Ko" is a popular sushi restaurant in Ueno, known for its lively atmosphere and affordable prices. During the state of emergency, the restaurant was temporarily closed due to the high number of customers who come to drink alcohol. Located just a 2-minute walk from Okachimachi Station, the restaurant is always bustling with customers, especially on weekends. The menu offers a variety of sushi and appetizers, but most customers come here to enjoy drinks and snacks. I decided to have a bottle of beer for 770 yen and tried their famous "Negitoro" for 1430 yen. The Negitoro, mixed with green onions, radish, seaweed, and wasabi, is served on a plate with crispy seaweed. It's a delicious combination and a popular choice among customers. The sushi menu offers a range of options, with prices ranging from 110 yen to 550 yen per piece. The quality of the sushi is excellent, with fresh ingredients and skilled preparation. I tried various types of sushi, such as tuna, sardine, young yellowtail, scallop, ark shell, herring roe, squid, and fatty tuna, and each one was delicious. The sushi was reasonably priced and the overall dining experience was enjoyable. "Sushi Ko" is a great place to enjoy good food and drinks in a lively and relaxed atmosphere."

I arrived at the restaurant right after it opened, and there were about 5 groups of customers already waiting in line. There was even a customer with a child (around 3 or 4 years old), but it was no problem. I ordered the set menu with sushi rice and then added some additional items. Every menu item was delicious and had great value for money. The highlights were the medium fatty tuna, flat shellfish, small clams, scallops, and eel. The eel was especially fluffy and tasted like the kind you would get at a high-end sushi restaurant. The taste exceeded the price, making this restaurant highly recommended. I had a beer along with the set menu, and the total came to around 5,500 yen for 16 pieces of sushi and a roll. This sushi restaurant offers great value for money. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I always line up at the sushi restaurant because I want to eat sushi. Today, it was unusual that there was no line at all, so I could get in right away. Maybe because it's Monday? The sushi toppings were all delicious, the rice was just the right size, and there were plenty of appetizers. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very comfortable. I will definitely go back.

This is a renowned sushi restaurant in town. The tuna was incredibly delicious, so I ended up having about three servings of it. They don't have a wide variety of grilled dishes, mainly focusing on sashimi and nigiri. Because of this, the turnover rate of customers is quite high. Reservations are required for groups of three or more, so I'll try to time it right and visit again when there's an opening.

This time I went to Sushiko! I was recommended by a friend to go there. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very traditional. There were also some foreign customers, which was nice to see. We started with some appetizers: tuna sashimi, octopus sashimi, horse mackerel sashimi, and negitoro (small). The negitoro was especially delicious, a must-try dish! Rolling it with seaweed, pickled radish, and green onions made it even tastier. The sashimi was good, especially the fatty horse mackerel. The tuna could have been a bit more tender. Next, we had some sushi: mackerel, flatfish, sea bream, bonito, barracuda, medium fatty tuna, sea urchin (twice), botan shrimp (twice), ark shell, and fire roll. I enjoyed the mackerel, flatfish, and sea bream the most. But the sea urchin was outstanding! It was so delicious, probably because it's in season. Also, being fresh sea urchin, it didn't have that strong taste. I would love to go back again before summer ends. I had some sake, a large bottle of Japanese sake, and a small bottle of Japanese sake, and it cost around 7500 yen per person with drinks. It's a place I definitely want to visit again!

After a hot day at work, I lined up and entered the restaurant! The cold beer tasted delicious. I started with the fatty tuna, a must-have dish here. Then I enjoyed some sashimi, the medium fatty tuna and horse mackerel were delicious. I also had a few pieces of nigiri sushi. Even though I had to wait in line, it was worth it for this sushi.

I went to a sushi restaurant located in a back alley of Ameyoko, about a 1-minute walk from Ueno station. This restaurant is always popular among the many sushi restaurants in Ueno, with long lines of customers. The interior of the restaurant has a nostalgic Showa era feel and is filled with energy, which was nice. This time, I ordered the "Take" set for 2,200 yen. The ikura had a nice saltiness and a satisfying popping texture, it was delicious. The shrimp had a firm and springy texture, which was great. The medium fatty tuna melted in the mouth with its rich flavor, it was super delicious. The white fish, possibly sea bream, had a delicate taste, firm flesh, and was light and tasty. The lean tuna was also light and had a nice tuna flavor. The horse mackerel had a refreshing taste with ginger as an accent, it was delicious. The aoyagi had a crunchy texture, which was good. The tekka maki was also simply delicious. My companion ordered individual pieces and they were equally good. We went around 2 pm and the restaurant was bustling with customers, which was nice to see. There were many foreign customers as well. The prices, starting from 80 yen for individual pieces, were reasonable. I would definitely stop by again when I'm in Ueno.

Because of the heat, I didn't want to wait too long, so I decided to go. I was relieved to be able to enter the restaurant in about 20 minutes. I was seated at the counter on the second floor and first ordered a draft beer. The Negitoro seemed to be famous. It was my first time trying it, so I ordered the large size with pickled radish and seaweed on the side to make my own Negitoro rolls. It was delicious. The only downside was that the green onions didn't taste good, they seemed to lack flavor. I apologize. The sashimi included sardine, scallop, gizzard shad, flounder, and flounder marinated in kelp. The scallop and gizzard shad were decent. The medium fatty tuna sushi was incredibly delicious, with a large piece of fish providing a satisfying bite. The smelt roe roll would also make a good snack with alcohol. The sea urchin was decent, and the squid salted guts went well with sake.

Today's dinner was at Sushisai in Okachimachi. It has been many years since I first walked under the noren of Sushisai. The atmosphere inside the restaurant remains the same, but the owner sitting in the hall on the first floor has aged. The sushi chefs behind the counter have all been replaced. They are all getting older. I started with a bottle of Asahi Super Dry for 770 yen. Then I ordered kajiki for 165 yen, shako for 220 yen, iwashi for 220 yen, and kobashira for 220 yen. The kajiki was as delicious as always. The kobashira had a citrus peel on top, adding a nice touch. However, the vinegar seasoning on the kobashira seemed a bit lacking. The shako was also disappointingly small. The iwashi was refreshing with ginger soy sauce. Next, I had ebi for 165 yen and maguro for 220 yen. The ebi was delicious as always. The maguro was incredibly fresh, likely from local waters. I also tried hotate for 220 yen and ika for 220 yen. The hotate had a sweet taste and was perfectly cooked. The ika had a chewy and squid-like texture. Let's try some gunkan sushi now. I ordered tobiko for 165 yen and tarako for 220 yen. Both paired well with the crispy seaweed. The tarako at the end was salty and had a satisfying popping texture. When I asked for the bill, it came out to exactly 2,750 yen.

The sushi restaurant is still stable and has fresh and lively dishes. It would be perfect if they stayed open a bit later. Located in Ueno, the restaurant offers delicious dishes like negitoro, mozuku vinegar, grilled fugu shirako, akagai nigiri, and uni.

I visited for lunch on a weekday. There was a constant stream of customers but the wait wasn't too long. I ordered the sushi set "Matsu" and a sake. I don't like red clam so I asked for boiled conger eel instead. While sipping on sake, the sushi arrived. It was a nice place to enjoy a casual lunch with good quality sushi. The pickled ginger and pickled cucumber were surprisingly delicious. The miso soup had clams in it. The atmosphere of the restaurant was bright and welcoming. I ordered another glass of sake and added a negitoro roll because I was still a bit hungry. It was surprisingly filling, I'm glad I didn't order the larger size. It was delicious, I will definitely come back again.

On weekends, there is always a line, but during weekdays you can get in without waiting. I've been to this place at least 10 times. I love the fresh, large pieces of sushi and the slightly warm rice. Especially the sea bream has a satisfying crunch, and the sardines are always fresh.

This is my favorite restaurant. They are open from lunch until late at night. It's always crowded and there is usually a line. They have a second floor, so the turnover is good. The only thing you can eat here is kohada (gizzard shad). The tuna here is much more delicious than other restaurants! It's a long-standing store that has been passed down for three generations, so they seem to have strong connections for their ingredients. Everything you eat here is delicious and the cost performance is also good!

While drinking in the Ueno area, I had always wanted to visit this place but had been put off by the long wait, including many inbound customers. However, on this day there were empty seats so I decided to go in. I ordered the famous Negitoro, which was generously topped with plenty of green onions, seaweed, and pickled radish, allowing me to customize it to my liking. They also offer various nigiri options for around 300 yen each, so you can enjoy your favorite sushi at your own pace. It felt comfortable to be able to casually eat sushi and drink at the counter, reminiscent of the traditional sushi restaurant style. While it's nice to leave it to the chef on special occasions, being able to enjoy sushi in a relaxed manner at the counter was truly enjoyable.

Negitoro is a famous dish at this restaurant. I went on a weekday afternoon and was lucky to get a table right away, but it quickly filled up afterwards! When leaving the restaurant, there was already a group waiting for a table. The taste was average for a sushi restaurant, nothing too surprising. However, when you consider the amount of negitoro you get for the price, it does feel like a good deal.

I had the specialty negitoro at Sushisai in Ueno Okachimachi. I enjoyed the negitoro wrapped in seaweed with green onions and pickled radish. The eel was also tender and delicious. The Toro Taku roll went well with highball drinks. (✯ᴗ✯)

Today's dinner was at "Sushiko" in Okachimachi. After having yakitori, I decided to satisfy my hunger with some sushi, so I walked from Ueno to Okachimachi. I tried to go to a new place called "Sushigen" behind Matsuzakaya, but it was full. It was quite busy even though it was early. So, I went to "Sushiko" instead. I waited for about 5 minutes before being seated. I started with a small hot sake. Then, I ordered the "Take" set (2,420 yen) for one person. It arrived in 7 minutes. The set included medium fatty tuna, lean tuna, white fish, horse mackerel, shrimp, greenling, salmon roe, egg, and rolled tuna. It looked delicious, but the fish seemed a bit dry for some reason. "Sushiko" used to be like the epitome of casual sushi, but it seems like things have changed with a new chef or owner. The lively interaction with the sushi chef is now gone. After finishing my meal and sake, I paid 3,610 yen. The sake was 1,190 yen, which seemed a bit expensive. I've never heard of a seating charge at a sushi restaurant, so maybe there was a mistake? The young man who served us and handled the bill resembled the previous owner. Perhaps he is the son? The future of the business will depend on his management skills. It's clear that "Sushiko" has declined in terms of sushi craftsmanship, service, taste, and price since its peak 20 years ago. Hang in there, Sushiko!

My friend's son lives nearby, so my friend visits quite often lately. The specialty Negitoro here is amazing! This time, we ordered 2 large servings right away, one for the son and some Hosomaki rolls for us to enjoy with drinks... It was fantastic!!

I tried to visit this restaurant a few times but always gave up due to the long line. This time, I went around 5 pm on a weekday and was able to get in right away. I heard that their specialty is "negitoro," so I ordered the "large" size. It was delicious, especially when wrapped in seaweed. All the sushi was tasty and I had a great time enjoying them.

I wanted to eat sushi because of my family's needs, so I went looking for it. There are two sushi restaurants nearby. They are open until late at night, so I guess they are meant to be eaten after drinking. The sushi with toppings was delicious, but the rest was just average. I think it's a good place to eat reasonably priced sushi.

Today's dinner was at "Sushiko" in Okachimachi. After enjoying yakitori in Okachimachi, I decided to fill my stomach with ramen or sushi. "Sushiko" in Okachimachi is a popular sushi restaurant that I have been going to for over 25 years. Unfortunately, the chef behind the counter has been replaced. The lively atmosphere is gone. The service feels more like a business transaction. I took a seat at the counter, but the customers have also changed. There are more young people and foreign tourists in a pub-like mood rather than the usual local sushi-loving crowd. This wasn't how it used to be!! This place used to offer authentic and casual sushi for everyone. I started with a hot sake and ordered shiny fish like horse mackerel, sardine, and mackerel. Then I had flying fish roe, shrimp, and marlin. Choosing my favorite pieces made the experience even more delicious. In the end, the bill came out to be 1,300 yen. Was there a mistake? The hot sake was calculated at 255 yen. I enjoyed the skilled chef's sushi and left.
