At Shinagawa Station, there is a rice ball shop inside ecute with various ingredients and flavors to choose from. After browsing through the showcase, I decided to try the salt rice ball (150 yen). I paid in cash and enjoyed it on the way back on the special express Azusa train. However, the train experienced multiple delays due to various incidents, causing me to arrive 15 minutes late. Overall, the salt rice ball was moist and delicious, with a seamless combination of rice and seaweed. Personally, I preferred the rice ball from another shop at ecute over this one.

While I was wandering around Ekiboote looking for a small gift for my coworker who loves to eat, I came across a visually appealing onigiri, so I decided to buy it. In Ekiboote, there are only proper sweets and deli shops, so even for a small gift, it costs over 500 yen. This onigiri seemed like a good choice because it was reasonably priced and had a good amount of rice. There is a debate about whether to eat the tail of the shrimp, but this tail is properly processed and meant to be eaten, so if you don't mind, enjoy it deliciously.

Before boarding the Shinkansen, I felt a little hungry so I bought some food. There were so many options to choose from - I was tempted by the grilled rice balls but ended up getting spicy cod roe and shrimp tempura, along with some fried chicken and tea. I opened them up on the train. Hmm, the rice balls were smaller than I expected. But after eating, I felt reasonably full. The tempura wasn't as tasty as I had hoped, the batter felt too light. The spicy cod roe was actually quite spicy!! The fried chicken had a strong flavor, maybe garlic or ginger?

Visited on the way to work in search of breakfast. There is always a line to purchase, so I waited in line. There is another similar restaurant called Momochi nearby, but I have not visited it yet because I pass through Shinagawa before 7:30. - Salt rice ball (I forgot the price, but definitely under 200 yen): I ordered this because it was cheap. Last time one was enough, but this time it seemed smaller. - Bonito flakes rice ball for 200 yen: Although it has become a high-class rice ball, getting two for under 400 yen is perfect for a salaryman's breakfast. Popular menu items like salmon or grilled cod will make it more expensive. Also, even cheaper options like tuna mayo at convenience stores can be a bit pricier, so checking prices is necessary. - "Decided set" with grilled salmon, crispy plum, and dried young sardines for 710 yen: I bought this for lunch. I paid with a transportation IC card and was surprised by the price later! The tamagoyaki and karaage were delicious, but in terms of cost performance, it might be a bit too much.

This is a rice ball specialty store located inside "Ecute Shinagawa" at JR Shinagawa Station. It is a restaurant operated by NRE, a JR East Japan Group company. This brand operates only here, making it a special shop only at Shinagawa, a transfer station for Shinkansen. The glass showcase displays neatly arranged rice balls, giving a sense of luxury. The size of each rice ball is smaller compared to other chain stores like Gyūmei'en, giving it an elegant touch. As the name suggests, they have a variety of grilled rice balls, which is a unique feature. - Salmon and salmon roe rice ball (300 yen): Despite the slightly higher price for one piece, the generous amount of salmon roe on top justifies it. The rice is mixed with salmon flakes, and there is salmon roe in the center. The roe may seem small, but it's not masu (trout) roe, but salmon roe. Given the low salmon roe yield in autumn 2021, including this much in one rice ball must have incurred significant costs. Although the price per piece is high, the high cost efficiency makes it a satisfying purchase. - Brown rice soy sauce grilled rice ball (200 yen): This popular option contains 29% brown rice. It is simple but delicious, with a savory aroma from the soy sauce and the grilled rice. Brown rice itself has a distinct flavor, and when grilled, it becomes even more flavorful. It's a well-received choice. - Sesame miso grilled rice ball (190 yen): Compared to the brown rice soy sauce version, this one is lightly grilled. The miso has a sweet and gentle taste, with a subtle sesame flavor. The packaging includes three rice balls in a transparent pack, along with a disposable chopstick and a paper towel. This packaging seems to be designed for eating on the Shinkansen. Each rice ball has its own unique characteristics, making it easy to find your favorite after a few visits. Personally, I recommend the brown rice soy sauce grilled rice ball.

This is a review of a rice ball shop at Ecute Shinagawa. I purchased the classic "salmon" and "mentaiko" flavors, both priced at 210 yen each (including 8% tax). Although small, both rice balls were filled with plenty of ingredients, making them a well-balanced meal.

On the way back from Osaka, I bought one Mentaiko Takana Mayo for 220 yen. This is amazing, the perfect trio of mentaiko, takana, and mayo creates such happiness in my mouth. The seared mayo enhances the deliciousness even more! Buying this for 220 yen is definitely the most satisfying way to spend your money. It has a value that exceeds its price!

At Ecute Shinagawa inside Shinagawa Station, there is a rice ball specialty store. I visited to buy lunch on a weekday. The food log score at the time of the visit was 3.41 (June 2021). Okarina from Okazu Club recommended the Mentaiko Takana Mayo here on TV, so I was curious and visited. While they have classic rice balls like salmon and tuna in their lineup, I specifically chose the Mentaiko Takana Mayo (220 yen). [Mentaiko Takana Mayo (220 yen)] This rice ball combines the flavors of mentaiko and mayo, as well as mentaiko and takana. It's a combination that seems common in convenience stores, but surprisingly not often seen. The taste is a perfect combination, with the mayo spread on the surface lightly seared. It's delicious as it is, but it might be even better if warmed up. This could be a good option for lunch or as a snack when you're on the go. Thank you for the meal.

I decided to go to San'in for Golden Week. I transferred at Shinagawa Station to head to Haneda. I bought onigiri for breakfast at Shinagawa Station. It was reasonably delicious. It feels urban. I prefer the cute ones in Mishima, even though they are not as refined.

I visited a rice ball specialty shop at Ecute Shinagawa near Shinagawa Station after finishing work a little early for dinner. I bought "okaka" and "mentaiko" rice balls as I planned to buy side dishes from other shops. The balance of rice and ingredients was good, and the saltiness and firmness of the rice were to my liking.

At the onigiri shop in Shinagawa Station, they specialize in grilled onigiri, which sets them apart from other shops in the area. I tried the Ebi Tenmusu (shrimp tempura) for 280 yen and the Nitsuke Tamago (simmered egg) onigiri for 280 yen. Compared to convenience store onigiri, the prices may seem a bit high. The Ebi Tenmusu had fluffy shrimp tempura and slightly diet-conscious rice, while the Nitsuke Tamago had sticky rice to prevent it from falling apart, and the simmered egg yolk was pleasantly gooey. Both were delicious, although nothing particularly outstanding. I enjoyed the experience and look forward to trying more varieties of onigiri in the future. The service was polite and friendly.

Convenient onigiri shop inside Ecute (located inside Shinagawa Station ticket gates) with nearby sandwich shop called Merhen. They use Niigata-grown Koshihikari rice for their onigiri, which are individually wrapped in transparent plastic for a clean presentation. The rice is cooked perfectly, with a firm texture and a pleasant sweetness that intensifies as you chew. The fillings are well-seasoned, enhancing the overall deliciousness when mixed with the rice. Varieties include bonito flakes, shiso plum, spicy cod roe, salmon, salmon roe, shrimp tempura, squid tempura, plum and dried baby sardines, seaweed and pickled radish, and sixteen-grain rice.

I get distracted and end up buying onigiri. The Eki ecute at Shinagawa Station is bright and white-based, making the products look beautiful compared to others. It has a relaxed atmosphere. The cod roe and pickled mustard leaf mayo onigiri I bought got a bit messy when I carried it around. The mayonnaise is grilled with a burner to create a crispy, fragrant outer layer, contrasting with the spicy cod roe and mild mayo inside. It may look heavy, but the flavors are well-balanced. The plum and dried young sardine onigiri is a reliable choice, with a satisfying crunch from the dried plum. It's perfect for the summer with its citric acid kick!

I purchased some onigiri at a store inside Shinagawa Station to eat at home later. The onigiri cost around 200 yen each, which seemed expensive compared to the 100 yen onigiri at convenience stores. However, after trying them, I realized that the quality was worth the price. The salmon onigiri, which was labeled as the most popular, had a fluffy and generous amount of salmon filling. The balance of saltiness was just right, explaining its popularity. The mixed rice with greens and pickled daikon was also a great combination. The crunchy texture and salty flavor of the pickled daikon put me in a good mood. Having this store in the station is convenient for commuters and I believe it's not just about location, but also about the quality of the food.

Chicken and Salmon Rice Set (fried chicken, rolled omelette) ¥590. On April 15th (Wednesday) at 7:15 pm, I was happy to get a ¥50 discount during the time sale. I originally planned to visit the neighboring Mamedanuki, but couldn't resist trying out the new onigiri shop that caught my eye. As a lover of onigiri, it's my destiny to try out new places. The rice was slightly firm and had a slightly cool temperature, with a generous portion of salmon which was not too salty but very tasty. The fried chicken was made with good quality chicken meat, with a clean texture and good mouthfeel. It's interesting that they opened a shop right next to the inari sushi shop. There's also the delicious onigiri shop Hyakusen nearby, it's like a battleground for carb lovers... But I still prefer the rice texture at Hyakusen. Which side are you on?

This time, I tried the onigiri shop for the first time as my travel companion at Ecute. The long showcase is lined with many onigiri, enticing your appetite. The rice is a bit firm in texture, so it's just average in taste. Everyone has their own preferences, so this level might suit some.

The purpose was to get red rice, but surprisingly, there are not many rice ball shops around Shinagawa Station. I found this rice ball shop while searching online. I was able to buy it right away around 2 pm on Friday. - Red rice: 210 yen - Brown rice soy sauce grilled rice ball: 180 yen Total: 390 yen! I paid with a card. The concept is nice, but the taste is not that great. The showcase was foggy and hard to see. As someone who loves grilled rice balls, I was a bit disappointed. The restaurant has a rating of 3.28 on Tabelog as of December 2019.

I bought some onigiri from Konbariya to eat on the Shinkansen as a late-night snack after drinking. I had been cheating on Konbariya with other onigiri shops a few times recently (mainly because Konbariya was not available due to location), but Konbariya's onigiri is definitely delicious! My favorite is always the grilled onigiri that is lined up on the top right of the showcase. This time, I bought the Nori Mentaiko Cheese, which I had tried before and found delicious, and the Cheese Dakgalbi, which I had never seen before. As soon as I sat down on the Shinkansen, I started eating. First, I tried the Cheese Dakgalbi. Oh, it's spicy! That was my first impression. I love spicy food, but I wasn't prepared for the level of spiciness, so it caught me off guard. It's probably around 1-2 on the Karameter (spiciness meter). In terms of spiciness for store-bought onigiri, it's outstanding. But it was very delicious. Next, I tried the Nori Mentaiko Cheese, which is a familiar taste for me. The combination of cheese and seaweed is always good, and adding mentaiko to it makes it even better. Thank you for the meal!

When I get angry, I always end up feeling hungry again (laughs). Before getting on the train, I stopped by a rice ball shop. It's really strange how I always crave rice after drinking. Even though I had just eaten soba and tempura right before, I ended up buying three rice balls, which was a total reckless move. Among the ones I bought, the rice ball with pickled plum and dried young sardines was delicious. Maybe after drinking, I just crave something sour and crunchy. As for the rating, I'll leave it to your imagination.

Visited in the morning on a regular day. Before taking the Shinkansen at Shinagawa Station, I wanted to grab a snack, so I stopped by "Onigiri-dokoro Kongariya" in ecute Shinagawa for a takeout. The shop is located on the left side after entering from the entrance near the Shinkansen platform inside ecute Shinagawa. It's a takeout-only store, but they offer a wide variety of onigiri, from traditional ones to unique options. They also have grilled onigiri. Today, I purchased the Pork Kakuni Onigiri and some tea. Pork Kakuni Tamago Onigiri: 270 yen (excluding tax) This onigiri has a topping of egg yolk on top of pork kakuni. I love eggs, so I was drawn to this one haha. The pork kakuni, marinated in a sweet and savory sauce, is packed inside the onigiri. The size of the onigiri is just right, not too big. It was a delicious meal!
