From Akatsuka Station, passing by "Y'S Ramen" on the left side of Kawagoe Kaido towards Ikebukuro. Turn left at a small alley where Hachioji Bank is located, about 30m in, on the left. If you continue straight down this road, you will reach Tobu Nerima's Kitamachi shopping street, which is quite inconveniently located. According to the street sign, the most popular dorayaki, excluding "Kokura An," is the original "Koshi An" recommended by gourmet Keio Kurisu, ranking first. The classic "Uguisu" is second, and the cinnamon-flavored "Apple" is third. It's not a super famous shop, so without the Suzann, Kyain, and Ogihagi signed color papers displayed proudly on the shoe case... it might not seem as impressive. When standing in front of the case, there is a pack of "Dorayaki trial bake" available for free! It's just the dorayaki skin, but one pack per person (equivalent to 2 pieces) is a free service! Gratefully securing the free pack, I also purchased the 2nd place "Uguisu An" for 180 yen and the 1st place "Koshi An" for 170 yen for takeout. Back home, I first tried the "Dorayaki trial bake." I wasn't expecting much, but it was surprisingly good! The dorayaki skin here is deliciously fluffy, the best I've ever had! The filling is written on the surface of the skin. The "Uguisu An" has a thin bean skin that is well-preserved. The "Koshi An" also received positive feedback for its delicious filling. However, my wife commented that the skin was lacking, preferring Ishidaya's dorayaki. Indeed, chestnut dorayaki is delicious, but the fluffy texture of this skin is exceptional. Comparing it to Ishidaya's chestnut dorayaki may be unfair, but there's no doubt that this dorayaki is a must-try. With the addition of the free "Dorayaki trial bake," the repeat value is worth an 80 out of 100.
