I tried the dorayaki from a shop called Kamaya that I didn't know about before. I bought pumpkin, blueberry, and white bean paste flavors. The pumpkin flavor tasted like mashed pumpkin mixed with a sweet and salty flavor. The white bean paste had a natural taste to it. The blueberry flavor was especially delicious, tasting like freshly made jam. The portion was surprisingly generous and the sweetness was just right. I might go back for the blueberry flavor again. I finished them all without taking any photos. I want to try other flavors next time.

I often enjoy the dorayaki from here. So today, I visited a nearby eel restaurant for the first time. My dad loves sweets, but it seems a bit too sweet for him. On this day, I bought: matcha Mont Blanc, baked Mont Blanc, and one chestnut bun. I forgot the rest. Perhaps the classic "dorayaki" is still the best. Thank you for the meal.

Located along the old Kawagoe Kaido road, this traditional Japanese confectionery shop is right at the Y intersection where it meets the Kawagoe Kaido road. Established in the 8th year of the Meiji era, this shop specializes in creative dorayaki. I visited around 3 pm on a weekday. The shop operates with a counter-style service, and the showcase displays around 10 different types of dorayaki. They seem to take pride in being a specialist shop, as the prices are a bit higher for the area of Itabashi. I purchased the following items: - "Imazaka Dorayaki with red bean paste (¥205.2)" - "Imazaka Dorayaki with sesame paste (¥237.6)" The expiration dates vary from 3 days to 1 week. Each dorayaki is individually wrapped and sealed, with different markings indicating their uniqueness. The dorayaki's dough is moist, fine-textured, and flavorful. The "red bean paste" has a good balance of texture, not too much or too little. The "sesame paste" has a strong salty taste, offering a slightly mature flavor. As expected from a specialist shop, the taste is of high quality. The delicious dough makes me curious to try out Western flavors like blueberry as well.

Recently, there has been an increase in specialty dorayaki shops. There are quite a few unique varieties of dorayaki available now. This shop has been experimenting with different flavors besides the traditional red bean paste filling. I purchased the red bean paste and blueberry flavors. They also offer sweet bean paste, black sesame, white peach, matcha, and chestnut fillings. The red bean paste was delicious as always, but the blueberry was really interesting. It had a jam-like fruitiness to it. It's like a pancake! I hope they continue to pioneer new flavors in the world of dorayaki. Thank you for the meal.

In a corner of the convenience store, there were dorayaki from a sweets shop in Nerima Ward. There were various flavors and they looked delicious, so I couldn't resist buying some. - Apple: Inside was apple jam with chunks of apple fruit, and the cinnamon aroma was very tasty. It went really well with the dorayaki! - Red bean: The red bean paste had a slightly light color and a rich taste. It was moist and the red bean flavor was strong, making it also delicious! The skin was fluffy and light, so I easily devoured it. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

There is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop called "Kamiumaya" near the entrance of the old road of Kawagoe, starting from Shimoakatsuka. I was drawn in by the sign for their dorayaki with chestnuts and decided to go back and enter the shop. I couldn't find it on display, so I asked the staff if they had dorayaki with whole chestnuts. They said they had it and brought out 10 pieces for me. I purchased them and enjoyed them the next morning. The dorayaki skin was a bit too sweet, but the whole chestnuts inside were delicious and satisfying. It was perfect for breakfast with hot tea. Thank you for the meal!

I found it displayed prominently at the convenience store and couldn't resist buying it. Since Doraemon's birthday is approaching. The dough is fluffy, not too sweet, and delicious. The red bean paste goes well with coffee. I'm glad I bought it.

In the past, it has appeared in famous comics. It is a well-known establishment in the local area that everyone is familiar with. They accept electronic money and QR code payments. The products and atmosphere are traditional Japanese style, but with a modern touch and cleanliness. They offer a variety of dorayaki, but the classic azuki bean filling is recommended. The chestnut-filled dorayaki is also popular. It is undeniably delicious. The harmony between the filling and the outer layer is excellent. There may be some additives like trehalose, but if you think of it as a specialty dorayaki from Akatsuka, you won't be disappointed. Just enjoy it for what it is.

This is my third visit. This time, I chose chestnut and sweet red bean paste flavors, and the fresh dorayaki was incredibly delicious. There are seasonal limited editions available, making it hard to decide, but the fresh dorayaki was the best.

The dorayaki from Ogura was delicious with plenty of red bean paste. However, the blueberry flavor was honestly not great. It felt like just putting jam on bread.

The staff's response is careless. They don't ask if you need a bag and the way they hand over the products is rude. The dorayaki is all good, but the cream dorayaki is light and delicious.

I had been curious about a traditional Japanese confectionery shop in town since before February 14, 2018, but I had put off visiting because there was no parking. When I finally went inside, I saw a long row of autographed photos of famous people. They seemed to specialize in several varieties of dorayaki, so I decided to try the small red bean paste and black sesame paste dorayaki, each priced at 160 yen excluding tax. The red bean paste was quite sweet, while the black sesame paste was just the right amount of sweetness. Both fillings were delicious, but oh, the pancake was fantastic. It was soft and fluffy, and I thought it was excellently made. It made me feel like it had been a while since I had tasted such a superb dorayaki pancake. Because of that, I felt the fillings were a bit lacking. If I have the chance, I will try other fillings next time. The value index for this red bean paste dorayaki is 0.92 at 160 yen/173 yen, which is decent. Thank you for the meal!

Mrs. Kami bought some dorayaki from a nearby shop she saw on Hirunandesu. The shop specializes in dorayaki and was established in the Meiji era. The dorayaki came in flavors like red bean, sesame, and mugwort, as well as a basic one, and the skin was delicious. The prices were reasonable at around 200 yen each. They also offer seasonal flavors like yuzu and black tea, as well as walnut, which I'd like to try. They even have dorayaki making workshops. It's a long-standing shop that is deeply rooted in the community. Sounds great.

After having soba for lunch, I remembered there was a dorayaki shop nearby, so I headed there. When I entered the shop, I saw various types of dorayaki and had a hard time deciding. I decided to go with the simple choice of red bean paste. It seemed like they put a lot of effort into making it. I could taste the eggs in the dough. The red bean paste was also generously filled. It was a bit on the sweet side. It was quite large, so I was satisfied after eating half of it. Thank you for the meal.

Jinmeya Kamaya is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop specializing in dorayaki, located in Nerima-ku, Tokyo. Established in 1875, they offer a wide variety of dorayaki flavors, including honey, blueberry, strawberry, coffee, yuzu, and matcha. Their dorayaki is made with high-quality ingredients, without using any preservatives, to ensure the original taste is preserved. The dorayaki with red bean paste has a thick and fluffy honey-infused outer layer, with a soft and rich red bean paste filling. Another popular option is the sesame red bean paste dorayaki, which has a refreshing sweetness and a subtle black sesame flavor. Both varieties offer a delicious treat with a perfect balance of flavors.

This is a renowned shop in Shimokasuga that demonstrates exceptional dedication and skill in making dorayaki. The variety of dorayaki they offer is truly impressive. I recommend checking out their website for more details. I recently tried their simple but delicious red bean dorayaki. The soft and subtly sweet pancake, combined with the mild red bean filling, created a heartwarming taste. Encountering a shop like this makes me truly appreciate being in Japan.

Today's treat is the dorayaki from Kamaya, located at Shimotakazuka Station on the Tohoku Line. I have been living in Shimotakazuka for almost 10 years, but I have never felt any charm in this town... (laughs) I decided to explore traditional Japanese sweets shops in Tokyo, and I was surprised to find a famous dorayaki shop here! I had no idea... (laughs) It seems like I don't know much about the town I live in. Anyway, I bought the classic flavors "anko" (sweet red bean paste) and "koshian" (smooth red bean paste). The dorayaki's dough alone is delicious! It seems to be filled with plenty of honey, giving a gentle sweetness that spreads in your mouth. Despite the sweet dough, the red bean paste inside is not overly sweet at all. The perfect sweetness of the red bean paste (both anko and koshian) pairs well with the dough. The red bean paste is not too thick, and its slightly loose texture complements the moist dough perfectly. It's a classic dorayaki, that's for sure. I heard they also have unique flavors like blueberry and mocha, so I'll try those next time. [Recommended for:] ◎Souvenir, ◎Teatime snack, ◎Office snack

From Akatsuka Station, passing by "Y'S Ramen" on the left side of Kawagoe Kaido towards Ikebukuro. Turn left at a small alley where Hachioji Bank is located, about 30m in, on the left. If you continue straight down this road, you will reach Tobu Nerima's Kitamachi shopping street, which is quite inconveniently located. According to the street sign, the most popular dorayaki, excluding "Kokura An," is the original "Koshi An" recommended by gourmet Keio Kurisu, ranking first. The classic "Uguisu" is second, and the cinnamon-flavored "Apple" is third. It's not a super famous shop, so without the Suzann, Kyain, and Ogihagi signed color papers displayed proudly on the shoe case... it might not seem as impressive. When standing in front of the case, there is a pack of "Dorayaki trial bake" available for free! It's just the dorayaki skin, but one pack per person (equivalent to 2 pieces) is a free service! Gratefully securing the free pack, I also purchased the 2nd place "Uguisu An" for 180 yen and the 1st place "Koshi An" for 170 yen for takeout. Back home, I first tried the "Dorayaki trial bake." I wasn't expecting much, but it was surprisingly good! The dorayaki skin here is deliciously fluffy, the best I've ever had! The filling is written on the surface of the skin. The "Uguisu An" has a thin bean skin that is well-preserved. The "Koshi An" also received positive feedback for its delicious filling. However, my wife commented that the skin was lacking, preferring Ishidaya's dorayaki. Indeed, chestnut dorayaki is delicious, but the fluffy texture of this skin is exceptional. Comparing it to Ishidaya's chestnut dorayaki may be unfair, but there's no doubt that this dorayaki is a must-try. With the addition of the free "Dorayaki trial bake," the repeat value is worth an 80 out of 100.

I went to a restaurant known for its large portions but it turned out to be just a regular eatery. As I had anticipated this, I had selected a few other places to visit on my way back. Located about 500 meters from both Tobu Tojo Line Shimo-Akatsuka Station and Yurakucho Line Akatsuka Station, this traditional Japanese confectionery shop called "Jinmeya" is just off the road leading from Kawagoe Kaido to Tobu Nerima Station. They are known for their various dorayaki (red bean pancake sandwiches), with flavors like red bean, coarse red bean, chestnut, white bean, nightingale, black sesame, and blueberry white bean. I purchased the white bean dorayaki for 190 yen, the nightingale dorayaki for 190 yen, and the blueberry dorayaki for 180 yen. The white bean dorayaki had a standard size and weighed 92g. The skin, with the "Jinmeya" brand mark, was a beautiful fox color, soft and fluffy with a refreshing sweetness. The coarse red bean filling was moderately sweet with a light flavor, but I felt it could have been enhanced with a touch of salt to bring out the flavor more. I would rate this dorayaki 3 stars out of 5. The nightingale dorayaki also had a standard size and weighed 94g. The skin was similar to the white bean dorayaki, with the same soft and fluffy texture and refreshing sweetness. The coarse nightingale bean filling had a moderate sweetness and a light flavor. It seemed like the nightingale beans were boiled multiple times to remove bitterness, but the unique flavor of the beans was slightly lacking. This might be more palatable for those who are not fans of the distinct flavor of nightingale beans. I would rate this dorayaki 3 stars out of 5. The blueberry dorayaki had a standard size and weighed 74g. The skin was similar to the other dorayaki, with a beautiful fox color and a soft and fluffy texture with a refreshing sweetness. However, the blueberry jam filling lacked flavor and seemed to contain a low amount of blueberry fruit and juice. It felt like a low-quality commercial jam was used. I believe that the blueberry jam from brands like Yukijirushi or Meiji would be much tastier. I would rate this dorayaki 2 stars out of 5. Overall, I would recommend the white bean and nightingale bean dorayaki from this shop.

In the world, there are often things like the "Three Great Families" or the "Three Major Something-or-Others," which basically means that you need to have three of something to be considered good. In Shimoakatsuka, there are two shops known for delicious dorayaki - Jinmeya and Hachinoki. Don't you think it's a shame? If there was one more great dorayaki shop, it could become the "Dorayaki Town of Shimoakatsuka" or the "Three Great Dorayaki Shops of Shimoakatsuka," attracting attention from the media and tourists, revitalizing the entire town and bringing an estimated economic impact of 43 billion yen. Shimoakatsuka, a town in the corner of Itabashi ward in Tokyo, could surpass Oyama, the symbol of Itabashi ward, with just that! Let's put aside wishful thinking and apologize to Oyama. Here is Jinmeya. It may be located in Nerima ward, not Itabashi ward, but it has received a lot of media exposure. The image on the left is Jinmeya, and the one on the right is Hachinoki. Jinmeya's chestnut dorayaki has a distinct sweetness of chestnut, while the red bean paste has a hint of saltiness. The blueberry dorayaki, although not traditional, is a sweet and sour treat that goes well with tea. Both shops offer a variety of unique flavors, making it fun to try different options.
