The restaurant is located on the first floor of a mixed-use building next to Halza Ikebukuro, across the street from the former Toshima Ward Office. It's a bit hard to spot due to the small sign. Three middle-aged men visited the restaurant, reminiscing about the last time they drank in Ikebukuro, which was about four years ago. It was a little past 5 pm on a weekday, and as they walked from the station, they noticed that many bars were already bustling with customers. Upon entering the restaurant, they were the first ones there and were seated at a table in the back. They had reserved a course with all-you-can-drink, but some of the men were disappointed that the drinks did not include sake. However, they were convinced that shochu was the way to go with motsunabe. They were asked if they wanted soy sauce or miso for the motsunabe, and since one of them was from Fukuoka, they chose soy sauce based on his recommendation. They started with a toast with draft beer, which tasted especially good on this hot day with a break in the rainy season. They enjoyed edamame as a snack and quickly finished it. The salad arrived along with the main dish, beef motsunabe, but they decided to wait before starting the fire. When the yakitori skewers were served, they ordered another round of draft beer. The skewers included pork and chicken. As the alcohol flowed, they switched from draft beer to sweet potato shochu with hot water. Finally, they started cooking the beef motsunabe when the time felt right. By then, it was close to 6 pm, and more customers started to fill the restaurant. They enjoyed the beef motsunabe with barley shochu on the rocks, pouring the fat from the meat into the shochu. It was delicious. They ordered another round of shochu on the rocks and ended the meal by making zosui with the remaining broth and rice. They finished the night with a highball. As they realized the restaurant was getting crowded and the counter seats were full, they had been there for exactly two hours. It was a satisfying meal. The two-hour all-you-can-drink course included edamame, potato butter cheese, salad, four skewers of chicken and pork, yakitori of chicken, motsunabe with beef from Hakata, zosui set, Shinshu ice cream or Tsugaru apple sherbet.
