And the cost performance is great! On this day, I visited with a friend who also loves spicy food. We started with a toast with bottled beer, which is a good deal at 500 yen for a medium bottle. We ordered lamb skewers for 200 yen, liver for 100 yen, and pig's head for 150 yen, all in a spicy flavor. There are no other options. We also ordered our favorite mapo bean thread noodles. The colorful skewer trio arrived quickly, followed by the bean thread noodles. I love how fast the food is served here. The beer goes down smoothly. By the way, you can adjust the spiciness of the bean thread noodles, so we made it super spicy. We also added daikon mochi for 500 yen and tsukune skewers for 250 yen. By this point, I was getting a bit tipsy and started forgetting to take photos. The tsukune skewers here are flat like rice cakes and are covered in a thick layer of spicy sauce. We then decided to try something soupy and ordered the oyster somen noodles. It was surprisingly mild and delicious, a nice change from the spiciness. It was a heartwarming moment. This is my second visit to this restaurant. We arrived after 8 pm and luckily got a table without waiting. We ordered a bottle of Kuro Kirishima shochu with soda, Taiwanese beer, gyoza, spicy lamb skewers, and mapo tofu noodles. Although we only ordered three dishes, they were all delicious. The mapo tofu noodles, recommended by the staff, had the perfect level of spiciness at 7 out of 10. The food was so tasty that we wanted more rice to go with it. Despite the late hour, we were surprised to see customers coming in one after another.

Today, I drank, ate, sang, and went to a third place where I added rice to my mapo tofu for a slightly spicy flavor. It was delicious when mixed with the rice. However, the beer went well with it, and other dishes like fried rice had a comforting taste like regular Chinese food. I ate and drank a lot.

The Ma La skewers caught my eye - as a big fan of mapo tofu, I couldn't help but be curious. It took some courage to enter alone all of a sudden, but I decided to go for it! Ma La skewers are served with Ma La powder and cumin sprinkled on them after grilling. Well, they were okay, I guess. It's a dish that might be hit or miss for some people. The menu had a wide variety of options, which was fun. My favorite mapo dishes were all there - mapo tofu, mapo vermicelli, mapo tsukemen, and more. As I was still debating, I overheard the order at the next table - a half-and-half order! What!? The answer was... a half-and-half order of mapo tofu and mapo vermicelli! That's amazing! The taste was... well, not bad!

This time, I revisited Toyomiyaya, which I tried once last year, and challenged the menu that I couldn't enjoy last time to see the spiciest dish again. The restaurant is located in Nakano, and the genre is Taiwanese cuisine. The cute mom with braids is also Taiwanese. My friends who love spicy food gathered here, and we first ordered the Ma La Bean Vermicelli 20x Spicy. It was quite spicy last time at 20x spiciness, so I wondered how it would be this time. And when I tried it, it was quite intense. It had a slightly dangerous spiciness, but it was around a 7.5 on the spicy scale. After that, we ordered various Instagram-worthy grilled chicken skewers!
