I accidentally took the wrong train and ended up at the Hagoromo Station on the Ome Line. Instead of heading back right away, I decided to explore outside the ticket gates out of curiosity. The station building was new, but the surrounding area had a lot of local charm. That's when I stumbled upon a ramen shop with a familiar bright red sign, but with a new catchphrase "It's delicious!" that I hadn't seen before. Feeling adventurous, I decided to check it out. I visited the "Maruichi Chain Hagoromo Shop" and ordered their Negi Ramen for 700 yen. The shop had a large L-shaped counter, and the sole female owner was running the place. The menu was extensive, with options like Taiwan-style ramen. However, as a first-timer, I opted for the classic Negi Ramen. I purchased my meal ticket, filled my water, and waited for my order. In just 5 minutes, a huge bowl of ramen was placed in front of me, almost big enough to fit my face. It looked like a trophy a sumo wrestler would win. I carefully moved it to the center of the counter to avoid spilling. The ramen had a soft-boiled egg in the center, with green onions and seaweed on the side, topped with slices of char siu. I took a sip of the soup with my spoon and was pleasantly surprised by the rich flavor. It was a classic tonkotsu ramen broth, not too greasy but packed with umami. The noodles were slightly firm, a departure from the usual soft noodles in ramen shops. The green onions were tossed in sesame oil, though there could have been a bit more. Overall, it was a delicious and satisfying bowl of ramen. The shop provided various condiments on the table, such as grated garlic, chili bean paste, fried onions, chili powder, and sesame seeds. I decided to stick with my usual garlic and chili bean paste for flavor enhancement. After finishing the large bowl of soup, I felt content with the consistent and tasty ramen. Despite the different sign, the ramen was delicious and satisfying. It was a great find right in front of the station in Hagoromo!
