This time, I visited "Ramen Jiro Fuchu Store". It had been a long time, about 3 years, since my last visit. Fuchu Station on the Keio Line has changed a lot in recent years! Thanks to that, I, a country bumpkin, felt a bit embarrassed as I got a little lost (sweating). When I left the south exit and walked about 5 minutes along the street on the right side, I saw the familiar yellow Jiro sign shining brightly on the first floor of a two-story commercial building. As I approached the entrance of the building, I noticed that there was quite a long line... And when I reached the entrance, the line extended all the way to the back of the building... Furthermore, when I reached the empty lot behind the store, the line was incredibly long (sweating). I was 25th in line...(*_*) I have only visited Jiro Fuchu Store a few times, but the line has always been within 10 people, so I was a bit surprised (^^;) Moreover, the weather was unstable that day, and I didn't bring an umbrella, so I felt a little anxious... As expected, after waiting for 40 minutes, it started drizzling...(*_*) I prayed that it wouldn't rain harder as I was just a little away from the building... Fortunately, I arrived at the building passage after waiting for another 10 minutes. Ten minutes later, I finally reached the counter seats inside the store. This time, I ordered a "Small Ramen" for 750 yen. By the way, "Small Buta 950 yen" and "Large Ramen 850 yen" are also available. While other Jiro stores have raised their prices to over 800 yen, Jiro Fuchu Store has kept the prices the same since my last visit, which is commendable! I respect that♪ In the kitchen, there were the usual shop owner and assistant working. On the table, there were black pepper, white pepper, and chili pepper available. There were also ladles on the upper level of the counter. Since it had been a while since my last visit, I observed other customers' orders and noticed that the default serving of vegetables was generous. Orders with fewer vegetables were more common. The default toppings included "garlic, lard" which were served generously, almost like a "mashimashi" level in other Jiro stores. The extra lard was rich and firm, while the garlic was about a tablespoon's worth. The soup was covered with a 5mm layer of liquid fat on the surface and was very hot. When I dug out the pork buried under the vegetables, I found well-stewed pork shoulder. The seasoning was well-balanced, and the soup had a good depth of flavor. There were so many vegetables that I couldn't reach the noodles at first (laughs). I started by devouring the pork and vegetables, and once the vegetables decreased, I took out the noodles and mixed them with the soup. The solidified lard melted into the soup, creating a deliciously emulsified broth! The noodles were the signature extra thick, curly noodles of Jiro Fuchu Store! They were slightly firm in texture but not overly hard, with a pleasant aroma of wheat. They were cooked thoroughly, with a good chewiness and a delicate fragrance of ocean. The store is closed on weekends and holidays, only open at night. If I, a middle-aged man, eat a hearty Jiro at night, I'll surely gain weight (laughs). It was my first time visiting Jiro Fuchu Store in a while, and I was completely satisfied (*'∇')/

This time, I visited Ramen Jiro in Fuchu for the first time. Due to the typhoon, our evening drinking party was canceled. I told my wife that dinner was not necessary, so I decided to eat out instead of bothering her to cook or making it myself. I had options like the original Jiro, Senkawa Jiro, Kamiya Fujimaru, and Edomondo, but since I had never been to Fuchu's Jiro, I decided to give it a try. When I arrived in Fuchu by train, the station was huge! As expected, I got lost and arrived around 5:15 PM, before the opening. There were only 2 people waiting, probably due to the typhoon. I bought my meal ticket after waiting for about 5 minutes and sat down. There were only two staff members, the owner and an assistant. The owner seemed quiet but kind, saying things like "You can put your bags on the chair behind you" and to a couple waiting, "Since we're making it together, miss, please sit down first." While waiting, the ramen arrived. I ordered a small ramen with a little garlic, and the vegetable toppings were high. First, I tried the soup using the table spoon, and it was gentle and not overpowering. It had the typical Jiro characteristics but the soup concentration, saltiness, and oil layer were not too strong, making it very easy to eat and to my liking. The vegetables were crunchy. I had to add pepper to enjoy the flavors since it didn't taste much without mixing the soup. The noodles were as recent reviews mentioned, thick but not extremely thick, slightly curly and had a firm texture, which was extremely delicious! It matched my preferences perfectly! The noodle portion was not 300g but around 270g, I think. When I ate the slightly blackened noodles and vegetables soaked in soup together, it was irresistible. The pork slices were small but thick, two pieces. They were tender, mainly lean with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. Well-marinated and delicious too! Overall, compared to other Jiro branches, the quantity and taste were on the milder side, which might not be satisfying for some people, but it was easy to eat, and I saw many couples enjoying their meals. I'm not sure if this was an exceptional experience, but the broth was not weak, and the taste suited my preferences, making it delicious. I would like to come again, but the hurdle is high as it's only on weekday nights. I wonder when I can come next? Thank you for the meal!

It's been a while since my last food log post! Finally tried Jiro ramen for the first time! Felt a bit nervous entering the shop. Ordered a small ramen with less vegetables. It was a well-balanced Jiro ramen. Delicious. The owner of this Jiro shop makes an effort to create a friendly atmosphere.

About a 5-minute walk from Fuchu Station, down Kokusai Street, there is a restaurant located on the first floor of an old, cluttered dining building. The atmosphere is quite shady, with a strong Showa-era vibe. The majority of customers are men, and despite this, the place continues to thrive nationwide, likely due to its addictive quality. Setting aside the debate on whether this can be considered ramen, objectively tasting the soup reveals a heavy use of artificial seasoning, with little trace of a serious flavor. The noodles are chewy, which is said to be a distinctive feature. If you imagine something between a regular ramen soup and a soup-less mazesoba, you might be able to eat it without feeling a stark contrast.

It's been a while since my last visit. I arrived around 7:30 PM and there was no wait. I went for the small ramen priced at 800 yen. It only took about 10 minutes for the dish to arrive. I asked for extra garlic and vegetables. The noodles seemed slightly thinner this time, but still substantial. The portion size was good. The soup was a bit on the lighter side today, but still tasty. It had a refreshing taste. Overall, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

■ Shop Information I feel like eating Ramen Jiro about once every 3 months. Today, I came to the Fuchu shop. Closed on weekends and holidays, open only at night, making it one of the more challenging Ramen Jiro shops to visit. However, it is relatively easy to enter as it does not have as many strange rules compared to other Ramen Jiro shops. There was no wait at 7:00 PM on a weekday. Today, I ordered the Buta (pork) small Ramen with firm noodles. ■ What I Ate - Buta (pork) small Ramen: ¥1000 It arrived in about 3 minutes, the fastest service I've experienced at a Ramen Jiro shop. The noodles were not as thick as I expected, despite reviews mentioning extremely thick noodles. Perhaps they have changed the thickness? Personally, I prefer slightly thicker, flat noodles. The soup tasted a bit salty to me. The chashu (pork slices) were also quite flavorful. While this shop may be a good choice for beginners due to its less crowded atmosphere, it was not my favorite Ramen Jiro shop. On the Instagram account of "Nonaru Danshi no Tokyo Lunch Meshi" with 70,000 followers, delicious food from Tokyo and various regions across Japan is being introduced! Visit date: August 2, 2023 (Thursday) Visit time: 4:15 PM Number of people in line during visit: 0 Opening time: 4:50 PM Number of people in line at opening: About 10 I visited the Fuchu branch, which I had not been to for a while due to its weekend-only and evening hours. The line was relatively short as it was a weekday. The amount of vegetables was slightly on the higher side even without specifying a goal. The portion of noodles was quite generous. The soup had a strong pork flavor but was clear. It was not too oily and slightly salty. The wheat noodles had a nice firm texture that paired well with the soup. The pork slices were of a good size and tender, adding to the overall deliciousness. It had a good balance similar to Jiro-style ramen. The atmosphere created by the owner and assistant was very pleasant, making it highly recommended for beginners. I am curious about their tsukemen (dipping noodles) and will definitely revisit. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

The kind shop owner and the always delicious Fuchu Jiro have unfortunately stopped serving the super thick noodles since moving, but the shredded pork, generous vegetables, garlic, and the soup that still reminds you of Jiro's standard are a perfect match. Tonight, I ordered the large size with extra vegetables and garlic. This shop also serves delicious tsukemen. The soup contains pork, and the vegetables and garlic are served with noodles blanched in water.

Since November last year, it's been a long time since I visited this place. When I went, there was no line. I was seated right away. I hadn't eaten solid food for almost 48 hours. I finally reached the point of having "real solid food" tonight with the "pork ramen" and "garlic vegetable spicy ramen." I was so hungry that I ordered the "pork ramen" without regrets (the famous tender pork in Fuchu is delicious), but I slightly regretted adding extra vegetables, forgetting the Fuchu portion size. Even though I felt a bit rushed while eating, I managed to finish it all! This time, one meal was perfectly satisfying. Fuchu's "tender pork" and "extra thick noodles" are truly unbeatable. Thank you for the meal!

Jiro Fuchu Store: I finally made it to this place in Fuchu where it's only open at night, after a bit of a wait. I ordered the small ramen with less noodles, extra garlic and oil. The soup was lighter than expected, but still tasty. The pork was tender. The service from the owner and assistant was friendly. I wish they still had the thick noodles available. Overall, it was a good experience. See you next time!

Jiro virginity lost!!!!! Jiro virginity lost!!!! Jiro virginity lost!!!! So, in my mid-forties, I had my first Jiro ramen experience~ Overall, I felt like I had been trained too much by skilled experts (inspired versions), so trying Jiro as an amateur left me feeling a bit unsatisfied in terms of both quantity and quality. I was taken by my colleagues to the restaurant, and we arrived at the ticket machine area at 5:30 PM, with a quiet atmosphere. This was Jiro. The manager was very friendly and the service was excellent. The person in front of me left without making a fuss after finishing their meal. For some reason, I was called "large serving" and was seated and served within 5 minutes. I had already studied the call beforehand. The person next to me ordered with the manager, and there was a slight mistake in the call. Finally, the bowl was served. Wow!! It looks amazing. Now, let's savor it. The soup was lukewarm, the noodles were thick, and the vegetables included bean sprouts, cabbage, and mixed in with chashu. The punch was quite weak compared to Butasenjin, and the portion was light. Everything felt light. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere of my first Jiro experience. Thank you for the meal. Please recommend other Jiro locations.

It moved to its current location in May 2006. It is known for its extremely thick noodles, but recent reviews suggest that the noodles have become normal thickness. Unlike other Ramen Jiro branches that mainly operate during lunch hours, Fuchu Jiro is only open for dinner. The restaurant has a strict no filming policy, which may be due to past incidents with disruptive YouTubers. The restaurant is located a 3-minute walk from Fuchu Station. It does not provide change for large bills and does not offer variations in the level of garlic, vegetables, oil, or spice in the ramen. The restaurant has a standard call system for additional toppings before serving.

In Jiro's world, this shop is known for its high level of difficulty to visit, as it is closed on weekends and holidays and only open at night. I decided to go to this shop in Fuchu after work on a weekday, arriving at 7:15 pm and was relieved to see only a 5-person line. It seems like you buy the food ticket after waiting for about 15 minutes. We were seated separately in the available seats. The shop owner seemed to know everything and had a master-like demeanor. I have been to about 30 Jiro shops, and this shop owner seemed a bit older. I ordered a small ramen for 800 yen. From what I researched, the noodle portion is normal, but there is plenty of vegetables, so I ordered with garlic and oil. When the ramen arrived, it was beautifully presented. The vegetables covered in oil were crunchy. The soup had a thick layer of fat, so it took a while to cool down. The pork flavor was rich, causing the vegetables to disappear quickly. The noodles were quite hard and chewy, not easy to slurp, but still delicious. The chashu was fibrous and had a good meaty texture, with shredded pork included. Using the white pepper on the table halfway through made it even better. I finished it quickly. This was my 27th Jiro shop, with 17 more to go. I need to keep going! Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant was full but I didn't have to wait in line. I ordered the pork-filled small tsukemen with a hot spring egg. I asked for extra vegetables and oil. The garlic was normal amount but I could have asked for more. The flavor was average and the service was good. The staff greeted me politely and asked how I wanted my toppings. They also asked if I wanted extra garlic. It made me wonder if I was at a Jiro-style ramen restaurant.

Direct Jiro Tour Finally the 30th shop! I've really been to a lot of Jiro shops, haha. It seems like there are more Jiro shops to explore in the future, like the upcoming Ikeda and the revived Mejiro-dai. The Fuchu shop I visited is only open on weekday nights. I came all the way to Fuchu Station, and it might have been my first time getting off there. It's quite a big station, so I was a bit flustered, haha. Fuchu seems to be a pretty lively place. I arrived on a rainy weekday evening at 7:25 PM. There was one person waiting inside and one person waiting outside. The shop is located in a strange area that looks like a snack street. I got lost on the way, so I had to rely on the smell to find it, haha. There were two kind elderly male staff members, and the shop had 8 counter seats and a vending machine inside. There were also a few female customers. The radio was playing nice music, creating a nostalgic Showa era atmosphere. It was the Jiro shop with the most flavorful vibe I've experienced so far. It makes sense that they only open at night. I purchased my meal ticket while waiting inside. I was seated within 5 minutes. The seating order and rules can be confirmed on Twitter. Self-service water, tissues, and ladles are available. The table condiments include pepper and chili pepper. Ordered Items: - Small Ramen: 800 yen I didn't call for garlic, lard, or extra vegetables, but they were generously included. The bean sprouts were fresh and crunchy, making up about 80% of the toppings. Maybe I should have asked for less. The lard was not seasoned, so it might have been fine without it. The soup was slightly emulsified with a generous layer of oil on top, served piping hot. It had a pork broth flavor with a fairly light seasoning. It was quite gentle, almost like a Chinese ramen. There was a nice umami taste, and it was seasoned well without being too heavy. The noodles were slightly thin and curly. They had a slightly firm and chewy texture with a light seasoning that complemented the soup well. The noodles themselves had a good flavor and taste. The portion felt like around 250g before cooking. There were about 3 tender chunks of pork. The fat content was low, but it was tender and flavorful, matching well with the soup. The pork was quite delicious. There was no spiciness at all, so I could enjoy it slowly without any discomfort. The lady next to me struggled for quite a long time, but there were no specific instructions given. I think this Jiro shop is beginner-friendly. Thank you for the meal!

The restaurant is only open on weekday nights, and I happened to visit at the right time. I arrived after 5 pm and there were about 8 people waiting outside. It took about 20 minutes until I got my bowl of ramen. The self-service black oolong tea machine inside the store accepts cashless payment, which is great! I ordered a small ramen with less noodles, topped with a little cheese, garlic, and a tender piece of pork. The pork was tender with little fat and had a gentle flavor without feeling the fibers. The noodles used to be very thick before, but now they are of normal thickness. The default amount of toppings is less compared to other shops. The soup is not emulsified and has a light taste, making it easy to eat. The vegetables are crunchy, and there were quite a lot even without extra toppings. The abundance of cabbage adds to the excitement. The sliced cheese topping melts by the time you eat it, making it delicious. Above all, the owner is calm and kind. For those who find the atmosphere of Jiro intimidating, I highly recommend visiting Fuchu Jiro!

I revisited Ramen Jiro @ Fuchu store. Arrived at 5:30 pm and there were five people waiting in line outside. It was peaceful and I was relieved. After that, more people started lining up one after another, which was surprising! Luckily, I was able to sit down without waiting for more than 10 minutes! I took a look at the ticket machine. Shall I stick to the basics? ● Small Ramen ¥800 with free toppings of garlic and oil. While waiting, I checked out various things. The kitchen had two staff members. The owner remained the same. The assistant had black-rimmed glasses. Business hours are from 5 pm to 10 pm, closed on weekends. Two drunk old men from the izakaya next door... were already completely drunk by 5:30 pm, haha! There is a vending machine inside the store. I'll buy black oolong tea. I took another look at the ticket machine. They have tsukemen. It used to be called "Zaru Ramen" instead of tsukemen in the past. That's over 10 years ago. There are 8 seats, and they haven't changed since they thinned out due to COVID. They pre-cook the noodles, so they come out quickly! The oil is scooped generously from the pot to the bowl. This is why the liquid oil is also amazing. And here it is!!! The vegetable serving by default is quite substantial. A mountain of oil from the oil call. The chunks of back fat, the liquid oil was less than last time, so I was relieved. Let's start with the soup. The umami of the pork is overshadowed by the chemical punch that comes through!!! It's amazing, haha! The soy sauce flavor is weak... maybe I should have asked for it darker. Mixing it from the bottom improved it, and it was almost satisfying to eat the vegetables. Maybe it's better with darker sauce. The richness is almost there... maybe they put too much back fat compared to before? But it's still okay. The power of chemicals is amazing, haha! The noodles are thick. However... they were not as thick as the old extra-thick noodles from Jiro branches. It's kind of disappointing, but at the same time, it's easier to eat like this, so it's a mixed feeling. It's not as chewy as "washoi," but it's somewhat springy, and I might want to try it firm next time. But it's delicious. The vegetables are crunchy. This time, there were carrots in it, haha! If you want to enjoy the vegetables, you might need a darker sauce. The oil is chewy and delicious. But it had quite a punch. I might have to graduate from the oil... The pork was moist and tender, and it was delicious! There was quite a lot of garlic. I was able to replenish my garlic intake properly. Overall, it's a borderline ★3.5 for me. Next time, for ramen, I might go with firm noodles, garlic, and a darker sauce. Definitely no extra vegetables. Maybe it's time to graduate from the oil as well, haha! It was a bit sad that they no longer had the extra-thick noodles from the past. Thank you for the meal. 2023.04

Fuchu Honcho / Ramen Jiro Fuchu Store [The sleeves that touch each other are also the ties of other lives.] The conditions that make it difficult for married people to visit a ramen shop are: - Open on weekdays - Open at night These are the two points. While living near Fuchu, I always wanted to go but never found the right timing. However, today, as we enter the Golden Week starting tomorrow, my wife took the kids back home first. So, there's no other option but here. After finishing work remotely, I dashed to Fuchu Jiro. The noodles have become thinner, and some fans say they preferred the old version. But for me, it's my first time, so I'll approach it without bias. This time, I shared information with a follower and visited the shop! I arrived around 8:30 pm and there were 10 people in line. According to the information I received, - The amount of vegetables is decent - The amount of noodles is not that much - The pork is not too overwhelming So, I was struggling with what to order, and then the guy in front of me seemed to be acting suspiciously. I thought, "Oh no, he forgot his wallet," and sure enough, that was the case. I lent him a 1000 yen bill as he happened to be in Tokyo for work and staying at a nearby hotel. I've been helped by others in similar situations before, so I wanted to pay it forward and he quickly paid me back using PayPay. It's the modern age (laughs). While waiting, we chatted, and as he was let in first, I soon followed into the shop. After much consideration, I ended up ordering with fewer noodles, a bit of garlic, vegetable oil (note: there is no option for extra toppings). The bowl arrived shortly after. Now, let's eat. The soup is strong and not emulsified. Dip the noodles into the oily film and eat. As rumored, the flavor is not too rich, and compared to other Jiro shops, it's relatively light. I'm satisfied with this, but for those who prefer stronger flavors, I recommend adding Karame. The noodles, although I haven't seen the thick ones from the past, are thinner compared to other Jiro shops. The vegetables are crunchy yet tender, which I like. And the standout is the pork. It's not as huge as a fist or a meteorite (that's just crazy), but for someone like me who eats less, it's just right, incredibly tender and falls apart easily. It was melt-in-your-mouth. The overall amount of noodles was not too much, and I could finish it, but for me, half the noodles would have been enough. Maybe I need to order less than a third of the noodles next time... The shop owner's personality got me too, the most relaxed Jiro I've been to. If we were to compete for the most friendly Jiro, it would be Mita, Ogikubo, Shinagawa, Kawasaki, Fuchu. Overall, I don't feel the urge to visit again, but I'd like to drop by before time runs out. Finally, I achieved my long-awaited goal of conquering the local Jiro. Tomorrow, I'll return to my hometown of Machida, but I still want to eat it again. Pineapple, I miss you. And the evolution, Noodles, Oyaji. Hmm, it's a tough decision! I also want to visit vintage shops, looking forward to it. Have a wonderful Golden Week, everyone. I visited this local Jiro ramen shop around 9:30 pm on a regular day. I had been avoiding this place because I didn't like the thick noodles, but I heard that they had changed to thinner noodles recently so I decided to give it a try. There were 4 people ahead of me in line, and as soon as I sat down, a customer left and I quickly bought a ticket for a small ramen. I placed the ticket on the counter and ordered with extra pork back fat. The staff called out my order right away. The ramen had plenty of fat, but unfortunately, there were no red diamonds in the oil. The soup had a rich umami flavor and was unique to Fuchu. It was amazing! The soy sauce had a good punch to it as well. The noodles were thinner than before, a bit on the softer side, but right up my alley. They soaked up the soup perfectly. The pork was small but tender and delicious. I'm glad I didn't go for the smaller portion. I finished it in no time. The owner seemed lively and that was great to see. I think I might get hooked on Fuchu Jiro ramen!

Long time no visit. I know I shouldn't eat here, but after half a year of resisting, I couldn't help but crave it. And when I peeked in, there was no line! I couldn't pass up this opportunity. Maybe because it's around 8 p.m. on a Monday. It's really rare. So I bought a ticket for a small ramen for 800 yen and took a seat. I had been drinking, so I asked for less noodles. In about 5 minutes, my bowl arrived. They mentioned that they made it with less noodles. Today, I opted for no garlic, vegetables, or extra fat. The noodles seemed even more delicious. The scent of wheat was stronger. The soup was the usual, but maybe a bit lighter. The chunk of meat was the same as always. Maybe a little more vegetables would have been nice. It was just right though. I might revisit around autumn when summer is over. Thank you for the meal.

I had been interested in Jiro Fuchu store for a while. I arrived around 5:30 pm on a weekday and there was quite a line. I was about fifth in line but was able to be seated fairly quickly. I ordered a small ramen with less noodles. I only added garlic. It may not have been the true essence of Jiro, but I am mindful of my health... The ramen arrived in a few minutes. The soup was indeed rich with a good umami flavor, enjoyable. The thick noodles were very satisfying. The vegetables balanced out the saltiness as I continued eating. It's definitely popular for a reason. The owner was chatting amiably with some young employees who seemed like new hires. You could feel the love for ramen and customers, which was quite moving. I should have ordered extra noodles after all. But it was delicious! Thank you for the meal.
