Today, I visited a Japanese restaurant called "Ryusaki" on Hitotsugi Street in Akasaka for lunch. It used to be called "Tenteitei" before, but the name has changed. The lunch menu has been updated, with the Matsukadobento now priced at 1,000 yen instead of 1,200 yen. I arrived at 12:30 PM and found that the counter was busy, but there were seats available in the raised seating area. The menu options included Matsukadobento, a choice of grilled fish sets, a sesame sauce bowl with bonito and yellowtail, and a weekly set meal featuring grilled saury and minced tuna. All meals came with shrimp and small pillar steamed egg custard, rice, miso soup, and free refills. I chose the grilled yellowtail with yuzu pepper for 1,000 yen. The service was provided by a female foreign staff member who seemed to struggle with Japanese. The popular Matsukadobento, which had disappeared from the menu temporarily, was back as a limited quantity item. After a 12-minute wait, my meal arrived on a tray. The main dish of grilled yellowtail with yuzu pepper was served with grated radish and vinegar jelly. The meal also included bonito sashimi, ham salad, steamed egg custard, rice, miso soup, and pickles. Unfortunately, I couldn't eat the bonito sashimi, so I shared it with my companion. The salad was fresh with a light dressing and sesame seeds. The grilled yellowtail had a nice char on the skin, but the flavor of the yuzu pepper was subtle. The fish itself was a bit watery and lacked fat. My companion's grilled saury was decent. The miso soup had seaweed and trefoil, and the rice was fluffy and plentiful. The steamed egg custard contained small shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, and trefoil. The pickles were daikon radish and Chinese cabbage. Overall, the grilled fish set meal had a good variety of dishes, but I may have made a better choice with the saury or blackthroat seaperch option. I also considered trying the limited Matsukadobento. It was a satisfying meal.
