(2023.09.21) I decided to have lunch at "Uogashi Sandaime Chishuu" located on the 1st floor of Tsukiji KY Building, across from Tsukiji Honzanji Temple at the Tsukiji 4-chome intersection, knowing that all the shops in Tsukiji Outer Market would be crowded with the return of foreign tourists. The entrance was inconspicuous, tucked away in a quiet alley with few passersby. Inside, the cramped 10-seat counter was fully occupied, so I had to wait outside for about 5 minutes. For lunch, they offered a "daily recommended bowl" and a "medium fatty tuna bowl," as well as their signature "Chishuu bowl" featuring seasonal fish and medium fatty tuna. I decided to go with the daily recommended bowl, which featured natural flounder and tuna. The bowl, divided into red and white sections, looked beautiful and appetizing. The flounder was freshly cut to order, and the tuna was a tender Minami Maguro. The moist and tender texture of the tuna, along with the firmness of the flounder, made for a satisfying meal.

I encountered a shop where I felt compelled to give a perfect score for the first time, considering factors such as taste, quality, and price. This shop is beloved by locals and even those who work at the Tsukiji Outer Market recommend it. It's a long-standing favorite among locals and highly praised among chefs through word of mouth. I actually visited based on a recommendation I received. While the famous shops in the Tsukiji Outer Market offer luxurious uni and ikura bowls at a high price, this shop offers delicious seafood bowls at a more affordable price. The recommended lunch bowl I tried included natural buri (yellowtail) and maguro (tuna) with negi suimono soup for 1200 yen. I also added side dishes (sweet and sour eggplant, sardines) for 300 yen, and they were absolutely exquisite. They melted in my mouth! I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious they were! The fact that this shop is able to offer such quality and content at this price in Tsukiji shows the chef's dedication to the locals. The shop has around 7-8 counter seats, and if you visit around noon, there will be a small line forming. I hesitated to write about this place because I didn't want it to become too popular, but the food is just so good. There are hardly any foreign tourists, making it a hidden gem within a hidden gem. Located just a street away from the Tsukiji Outer Market on Monzen Street, it has a calm atmosphere. With the recent increase in tourists visiting the Tsukiji Outer Market, if you want to enjoy uni and ikura, you should go there. But if you want to experience the old-fashioned delicious seafood in Tsukiji, knowing about this shop will come in handy when you want to take a date or someone special. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the delicious meal! I was so happy that I even wrote a blog post about it: [link to blog post]. For a video tour of Tsukiji, click here: [link to video]. I underestimated the crowds at Tsukiji and arrived after 1pm. I gave up on having lunch at the outer market and decided to dine here instead. The restaurant only had counter seating, but I was able to get a seat without waiting. It seems like their lunch menu is mainly rice bowls. The chef seemed a bit tense, so I didn't take any photos of the menu. I ordered the limited-time special, the generously topped marinated mackerel rice bowl for 1000 yen! The green onion miso soup and the rice bowl were both delicious.

Platto, today's lunch was a stroll around Tsukiji Station. When you exit from Exit 2 of the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line Tsukiji Station, you will see Shiodome Street on your left. Walk towards Tsukiji for a while until you reach the signal at Tsukiji 4-chome where it intersects with Harumi Street. Cross the signal at Tsukiji 4-chome, continue straight ahead, turn right at the first T-junction, and a little further down on your right, you will find the restaurant I visited today, "Uogashi Sandaime Chishuu." I entered the restaurant at 12:00 pm on a weekday. Upon entering, the head chef greeted me at the entrance and guided me to the counter seat on the far left. As I made my way to the counter seat, I noticed there were a group of three men, one solo male customer, and one solo female customer, totaling seven customers. I sat at the counter seat and checked the lunch menu on the menu board on the wall. The menu included: Today's recommended bowl - Natural flounder and tuna bowl 1,200 yen - Natural flounder and bonito tuna bowl 1,200 yen - Natural flounder and medium fatty tuna bowl 1,800 yen Chishuu bowl - Medium fatty tuna bowl 1,000 yen I chose the "Natural flounder and tuna bowl" and placed my order with the head chef. After waiting for 6 minutes, the "Natural flounder and tuna bowl" was served. The bowl consisted of vinegared rice topped with 4 slices of natural flounder, 5 slices of tuna, and garnished with shiso leaves, pickled ginger, and wasabi. The "Natural flounder" had a caramel color with a subtle flavor, yet rich umami and a firm texture, making it delicious. As for the "tuna," I wondered what type of tuna it was as I ate. It had a tangy umami flavor, and the fat content seemed moderate (as there was not much fat floating in the soy sauce). Perhaps it was yellowfin tuna? I pondered as I continued eating. The rice was vinegared and well-balanced in flavor, making it tasty. I enjoyed the "Natural flounder and tuna bowl" and finished with a sip of the "clear soup." Today, I indulged in fresh seasonal fish. It was a delightful meal for Q-chan. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a sushi restaurant located behind a building at a large intersection near Tsukiji Honganji Temple during the daytime. According to my acquaintance, the restaurant was inspired by a manga called "Fish Market Third Generation." The lineup wasn't too long, and I waited for about 10 minutes before being seated. I ordered a natural buri (yellowtail) and maguro (tuna) bowl for 1,200 yen. There were also options like a natural buri and chutoro (medium fatty tuna) bowl for 1,800 yen, and a special negitoro (minced tuna with green onions) bowl for 1,000 yen. The tuna served was shiny and delicious, and the portion of rice was just right. I enjoyed my meal.

I was wandering around looking for a lunch spot in Tsukiji when I saw a nice menu displayed outside a restaurant and decided to give it a try. The place was run by a well-dressed owner and seemed like a small, clean seafood izakaya. I couldn't tell what it was like at night, but I'm pretty sure it's a good place. The maguro (tuna) and hirame (flounder) donburi that I ordered was delicious!

In the morning, I received an offer at the neighboring Rubinz Coffee that said, "If you eat at the neighboring Chiaki, you'll get 100 yen off coffee," so I decided to have lunch there. After eating the 1,000 yen Chiaki bowl, I said, "I'll just have coffee next door," and was handed a 100 yen discount coupon. With that coupon, I went back to the coffee shop. What a sense of accomplishment. It might be only available on Wednesdays.

For lunch in Tsukiji 4-chome, I went to "Senshu" located in the alley behind the Tsukiji 4-chome intersection where Harumi Street and Shin-Ohashi Street intersect. I arrived around 11:30 and there were only two other customers at the counter. I was seated at a corner seat designated by the owner. The restaurant is small with only a counter. I ordered the "Today's recommended bowl of natural Kanpachi and tuna (1200 yen)" and chose the tuna to be marinated. The dish was served with hot negima soup. The rice was delicious with vinegar. The portion was a bit small, so if you have a big appetite, you might want to go for the large serving (100 yen extra). Another solo customer who came in later ordered his usual, seemed like a regular. The atmosphere was cozy and if you become a regular, you might feel more comfortable with the owner. Located on the first floor of the Tsukiji KY Building, about a 3-minute walk from Hibiya Line Tsukiji Station, is "Uogashi Sandaime Chiaki." The entrance is on the opposite side of Harumi Street, so it may be a bit hard to find. Today, I visited because the limited edition Chiaki Donburi (1000 yen) was "Herring Tataki Donburi." This compact restaurant with only 11 counter seats allows for a close interaction with the head chef. In addition to the Chiaki Donburi, they also offer lunch options such as Maguro Donburi (1200 yen) and Chutoro Donburi (2000 yen). The herring fishing season is from February to March, and autumn herring has a good texture, allowing you to fully enjoy the fish's flavor in a different way from simmered or marinated herring. The tataki donburi combines the slight sweetness and fat of the herring with the vinegared rice perfectly. Occasionally feeling the small bones adds to the herring's character. The donburi comes with a special green onion and tuna soup, which is delicious! Tuna in soup may seem tough, but it was soft and melted perfectly with the green onions. I look forward to trying their evening course next time.

I ordered the 6-course meal for 5,000 yen. In addition to the dishes shown in the photo, there were also grilled fish and miso soup, all of which were delicious. While enjoying the food, I always listen to interesting stories about cooking. I highly recommend this place where you can enjoy the simple yet best techniques of Japanese cuisine at this price.

I visited the restaurant right at 11:30 am when it opened. I secured the second seat from the back right of the counter and ordered the daily special bowl for 1,000 yen (featuring horse mackerel and tuna). It came with a miso soup with green onions, but there were only two pieces of green onion and three small slices of tuna. The horse mackerel and tuna on top of the bowl were too cold. The two staff members at the restaurant were mainly discussing when to have their lunch boxes. Thank you for the meal.

Today's recommended bowl at Senq is a must-try. Located behind the KY Building, next to Rubins Coffee, this counter-only shop offers a bowl featuring tuna and flounder. It comes with a delicious negima soup. The flounder had a refined texture and was exquisite. The negima soup was also full of flavor and delicious. After paying, we even received a discount coupon for Rubins Coffee next door (laughs).

For lunch in the Tsukiji area, this popular restaurant offers donburi for only 1000 yen, which is a fair price for tourists in Tsukiji. If you go before 12 o'clock, about half of the seats are usually available. I sat at the counter and ordered the following two items: Today's recommended donburi for 1000 yen (with natural flounder and tuna, served with negi-miso soup). I chose the marinated tuna for the donburi. I also ordered two small side dishes for 200 yen (simmered daikon radish and tuna simmered dish). The recommended donburi was prepared by the master chef cutting the flounder, and it was truly delicious. The negi-miso soup and natural flounder were excellent, but the tuna was just average. Overall, it was a really good restaurant.

The restaurant outside of the building is closed until the state of emergency is lifted on 2/7. However, this restaurant on Niobashi Street is open for business. They open at 11:30 AM, and their lunch special today is the recommended fish bowl. The recommended fish of the day is natural flounder. The reviewer decided to try the natural flounder and medium fatty tuna bowl for 1,500 yen. The owner was friendly and the miso soup was served first, followed by the bowl. The tuna was not as flavorful as expected, but the flounder was delicious. The reviewer particularly enjoyed the vinegar rice. After finishing the meal, the owner offered a discount on coffee, which the reviewer gladly accepted. Overall, it was a good experience at the restaurant.

Introduced by a colleague at work, I visited out of curiosity. I was drawn to the daily special bowl featuring tuna and another seasonal fish. Despite not being a fan of tuna, I decided to order it based on their recommendation. And they were right - my preconceptions were shattered. Perhaps I've just been eating low-quality tuna until now? Nevertheless, it was truly beautiful...

I had about 2 hours to spare in Kanda, so I decided to go to Tsukiji! I remembered that I was running out of dashi kombu and couldn't find any suitable kombu, so I thought it was a good opportunity to stock up. It only took about 15 minutes to get there by transferring subways from Kanda. I bought kombu at a dried goods store and then went to a tea shop, but it was closed. Since I hadn't had lunch yet, I decided to try Chiaki-san, a place I had been curious about near the tea shop, and found a seat available, so I went in for lunch. There were about 3 customers at the counter. I ordered a bowl of white fish and tuna. I chose marinated tuna over sashimi. The marinated tuna was delicious. The white fish was also refreshing and tasty. It came with miso soup, which was also delicious. Tsukiji is always fun. Thank you for the meal.

Well, it may be because it's a lunch special, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I had drawn the short straw after a long time at Tsukiji. You can tell just by looking at the color in the photo. Those who know will understand. I should have looked at other people's posted photos first... (cries) "Natural yellowtail and medium fatty tuna bowl" (1,500 yen) - As shown in the photo. It shrinks as soon as it is served. The color, that is. Well, I can understand this color due to the level of maturity. But... The taste is also decent. I can somewhat understand the fatty texture of the medium fatty tuna. Also, the texture and elasticity of the natural yellowtail. But... The unnatural redness in the non-red meat, almost like blood, gives off an odd vibe... Far from the delicious taste of iron. I'm sorry, but I ate it with plenty of soy sauce, treating it as soy sauce rice. Thank you for the meal. It seems to be intended for a quick lunch. That's the price range. And the selection process must be based on that. Still, it's... The hole in the natural yellowtail. If you look at it, it's understandable why you would think that way. It's not something pleasant. It's a valid argument that if you dislike this, you can't eat fish. But, should it be served so boldly? First of all, what about daytime operations? I can't help but wonder. I've heard that some places open during the day because they're preparing for the night. So, that's the procedure. A quick task done in between night preparations. Even if an order comes in, they don't start making it right away. They continue peeling daikon for the night prep. Well, I'm not in a position to comment on the restaurant's policies, and maybe it's to warm up the soup bowl. For what seems to be regular customers, they may bring out items with a sold-out sign. It's too obvious and it's not a good feeling. Well, you could also say it's the opposite of consideration. Things that can't be served to customers can be served to regulars. There were other things I thought about, but I'll stop. However, the excessive private conversation that affects the meal is off-putting. (By Kyanatsushuukuu, 2020.2.23) (55 reviews/3.54)

It's been a while since I came here. Today's recommendation is hirame (flounder) and maguro (tuna), with a little rice. I was asked if I wanted the tuna to be marinated, but this time I requested it without marination. It cost 1000 yen. I didn't ask for the mayo-dressed side dish because it's not to my liking. The tuna's red flesh was tender, while the flounder had a firm texture with a hint of sweetness, indicating their freshness. As expected, sushi rice goes well with sashimi. A seafood bowl must be like this. The amount of rice served here seems just right when it's a bit less. As always, the food was delicious and reasonably priced.

I was brought here by an acquaintance. This is a small restaurant with only 11 counter seats. The chef is quiet and focused on his work. Everything we ordered was delicious. I was amazed at how tasty the fish was, it was beyond my expectations. Why does the same dish taste so different here? They also serve lunch, but I can't come all the way to Tsukiji for it. Before leaving, I had a chat with the chef and he was very friendly. I will definitely come back again. Thank you for the meal.

The outer market of Tsukiji was crowded, so I was thinking of going to a sushi restaurant, but I suddenly found a small sushi restaurant. It was small but looked delicious, so I decided to go in. I ordered today's recommended bowl, which was a chirashi with sea bream, spear squid, and marinated tuna. The marinated tuna was soaked well and packed with flavor, and the wasabi was real wasabi, giving a sharp kick but also delicious. I never thought sea bream could taste this good, but it was amazing. The spear squid was tender with a nice texture, and it paired perfectly with the sushi rice. The miso soup was flavorful and piping hot. I will definitely come back!
