The impression is that it is a very basic tsukemen. In a positive light, it is something you can eat regardless of the condition, but in a negative light, it is neither outstanding nor bad enough to make you want to come back for more. The noodles are chewy and have a good texture, while the soup is soy sauce-based and slightly lacking in flavor punch, so it may require additional seasoning like pepper or sauce from the table.

I no longer associate Daishoken with Nakano, but rather with Nogata Daishoken. When I was a child, there was a debate between those who thought Nakano was delicious and those who thought Nogata was delicious. Looking back, Nogata Daishoken's flavor was similar to Ogikubo Marunaga's, with a strong pepper taste. When Nogata Daishoken closed, many new ramen shops and places offering tsukemen started to appear. I hadn't visited in about 20 years since deciding it wasn't delicious, but after seeing a ramen YouTuber visit and say the taste had changed, I decided to give it another try. The dipping sauce, which used to be thin, had improved and become somewhat tasty, but in this day and age, there are many more delicious options out there. The soy sauce flavor left a strong salty residue in my mouth even after finishing, which was a bit disappointing.

I ordered the dipping noodles with meat and it turned out to be delicious. The noodles were chewy and smooth, very tasty. However, the dipping sauce was quite plain at first, but as I continued eating, my impression changed. I think this sauce is probably adjusted to enhance the flavor of the noodles. I was impressed.

I visited Daishoken in Nakano. The door, ticket vending machine, and counter have been renovated. I ordered the bamboo shoots dipping soba for 1050 yen, vegetables for 180 yen, totaling 1230 yen. It is currently full at 1:30. This is a ramen shop established in 1951, known for its dipping noodles. The taste can be divided into Marunaga style and Daishoken style. The bamboo shoots and chashu are thick and delicious, and the noodles are smooth and chewy. When the door came off and the button on the vending machine got stuck, and only foreign staff were working, I thought they might be closing down. But they have made a remarkable comeback. Thank you for the meal.

When I visited after about 3 years, I noticed several changes. The ticket machine had been upgraded from a button-style to a new panel-style. The atmosphere inside the restaurant felt slightly different. It seemed like they had replaced the wooden doors and window frames with new ones. Especially the counter now had a lighter wood color compared to before. I ordered the "meat tsukemen" (1,100 yen) as shown in the photo. The dipping sauce seemed simpler, as if something had been refined. The noodles had a more pronounced wheat flavor, indicating a lower water content. The meat, which was actually diced chashu, was placed on top of the noodles instead of in the dipping sauce. The design on the bowl from "Daishoken" was also different. As for the price, it was understandable. But personally, I don't seek out these minor details in this restaurant. What I value are the essence and the experience. As someone who has visited both Daishoken and Maruchou, I can't help but be conscious of both when eating at this Daishoken in Nakano. Despite the changes, I was able to fully enjoy the delicious tsukemen at Nakano Daishoken once again. Oh, one more thing. The extra soup had a stronger meaty flavor compared to before. Thank you for the meal. Looking back at the restaurant from outside, the color scheme of the banners and the nostalgic orange and black of the old loyalty cards for Daishoken. Memories... Located in the Nakano area, a short walk south from JR Nakano Station along Nakano Street, is a restaurant that caught my attention. Known as the original creator of "tsukemen," the roots of dipping noodles, I decided to pay a visit for lunch. The exterior and interior of the restaurant exude a Showa era atmosphere. Inside, there is only a counter with a unique shape, and the seating capacity is limited. Despite it being lunchtime, the restaurant was not too crowded. First, I purchased a meal ticket from a self-service machine that resembled a tablet. There were various types of tsukemen and ramen available, but I chose the default "tsukemen (800 yen)" for this visit. The dish was ready in about 7 minutes. The light and tangy dipping sauce was quite different from the current popular rich and flavorful fish-based types, with a refreshing taste. At first, I found it a bit lacking, but as I continued eating, I got used to it and started to enjoy it. The medium-thick and chewy noodles were served hot and paired well with the light soup, making it delicious. If you expect it to be like the tsukemen at Daishoken, you might be disappointed, but if you think of it as a different dish called "tsukemen," you will find it tasty. Given the chance, I would like to try the regular ramen there as well.

The tsukemen with meat special at 1,320 yen was delicious. I had it for lunch on a Saturday when I had to work in the morning. I couldn't decide between ramen or tsukemen, but I chose tsukemen because it was hot. I might have to wait until it cools down a bit more to have ramen. There are four ramen shops in this area, each with a different style of ramen, so it's nice to choose based on your mood at the time.

The tsukemen with meat topping cost 1100 yen, large size 170 yen, egg 120 yen, and extra noodles 160 yen. It's a bit pricey, but the classic tsukemen is quite delicious. The noodles are chewy and the soy sauce soup is flavorful. The option for extra noodles is great, and the extra soup is served in a separate bowl, which is nice. However, if you keep eating until you're satisfied, it can get quite expensive.

Nakano Daikatsuya @ Nakano Takenoko Tsukemen [¥1050] ■ Visit date July 16, 2023, Sunday 10:49- ■ Nearest station JR Chuo Line / Sobu Line Nakano Station ■ Business hours 10:30-19:00 ■ Regular holiday Wednesday This time, I visited Nakano Daikatsuya, a place I've always wanted to go. It's a well-known shop where the ramen master, Kazuo Yamagishi, is called the god of ramen. It's also famous as the birthplace of tsukemen. When you leave the south exit of Nakano Station, cross the street to the right and continue left. Beyond Marui, a little further down the street, you'll see it right away. It's about a 3-4 minute walk from the station. I arrived at 10:49 and was the 5th person in line. When you enter the store, there is a ticket machine on the left and counter seats on the right and in the back. This time, I ordered the Takenoko Tsukemen. The thick noodles were soft and the dipping sauce was the essence of Daikatsuya. The original tsukemen was amazing. Next time, I'll try the large serving. * This is just my personal opinion. #NakanoDaikatsuya #TakenokoTsukemen #NakanoGourmet #MarunagaNorenkai #KazuoYamagishi #OriginalTsukemen #BirthplaceOfTsukemen #Ramen #RamenLover #RamenAroundTheWorld #Noodlestagram #RamenHunting #WantToConnectWithRamenLovers

I visited the store after the renovation on July 15, 2023, for the first time in a while. Overall, the menu has been reduced and prices have increased. This time, I ordered the meat dipping noodles for 1100 yen with an extra 220 yen for a large serving. The dipping noodles now come with the toppings on top of the noodles.

- Restaurant Name: Daishoken Nakano - Location: Nakano Station - Budget: Up to 1000 yen - Ordered Menu: Tsukemen On a rainy holiday around 11:30 am, I visited this restaurant in Nakano after finishing my errands. Some of you may not be familiar with it, but Daishoken originated in Nakano. It opened on December 30, 1951 in Hashiba-cho (5th district of Nakano-ku), and now it has moved to the front of Nakano Station. This place is known as the birthplace of Daishoken's tsukemen. (Daishoken itself has Marunaga as its origin. This is also a famous story.) The interior of the restaurant has only 9 counter seats. There were 3 customers before me. It's small, but it has a nostalgic charm and a friendly atmosphere. This time, I ordered the tsukemen as mentioned above. The tsukemen soup is on the watery side. It feels like the soup is lighter compared to other Daishoken I've had before. It's like separating the noodles and soup of a regular ramen. There is a hint of bitterness from the dried sardines. It will be irresistible to those who like it. The pork bone-based soup goes well with the noodles. I added vinegar and shichimi (seven spice) halfway through. The taste of the soup significantly improves, almost as if it was designed for customization. Vinegar and shichimi are essential, in my opinion. The noodles are medium-thick and smooth. They are perfect for slurping. The table condiments include pepper, shichimi, chili oil, vinegar, doubanjiang, and soy sauce. That's all. I have been to other Daishoken locations, but this one was quite good. I felt a bit unsatisfied after a bite or two, but as I continued eating, I got hooked. It's a mysterious experience. Please try this historic bowl of noodles. Thank you for the meal. I will come back again.

The appearance of the restaurant was shabby. And above all, the brand power. Wait, was it like this? Daishoken? I knew there were countless derivatives, but. The first time I went was at Daishoken in Nagafuku-cho. The deliciousness of the super hot ramen with a strong anchovy flavor and an oily film! However, here, huh? The soup is sour. I don't feel much anchovy. The noodles are smooth and delicious, but overall, is it delicious? It's lunchtime, but there's only one staff member working. It was the first time my lips were cut by disposable chopsticks.

Special Tsukemen for 1000 yen. It was not too crowded during lunch today, perhaps due to the intense rain. The chashu was a bit firmer than usual, and the soup was on the lighter side. The noodles were smooth and consistent as always. I couldn't help but wonder if I should have ordered a warm ramen instead. Overall, it was a lunch with some regrets. Thank you for the meal.

Visited this shop located about a 5-minute walk from JR Chuo Line Nakano Station South Exit. It is said to be the origin of tsukemen, and is a well-established shop founded in 1951. No wait at 18:20. There were 3 customers before and 3 customers after. The shop has a counter with 9 seats and no partitions. The staff was handling everything alone. Purchased the vegetable tsukemen for 850 yen with extra noodles for 150 yen from the ticket machine. The dish arrived in 7 minutes. The dipping sauce had a soy sauce flavor with a hint of seafood, and was delicious enough to drink on its own. The noodles were medium thick and straight, providing a chewy and smooth texture. Toppings included chashu, cabbage, carrots, menma, bean sprouts, seaweed, onions, and green onions. It was surprisingly not crowded despite visiting close to closing time. Thank you for the meal.

Today I came here. Lately, I've been wanting to go to a restaurant with "Daishoken" in its name (lol). I arrived at 12:30. I went to the ticket machine on the left side after entering the entrance, and ordered the meat dipping noodles (900 yen) with extra noodles (100 yen) by pressing the buttons. I handed the food ticket to the counter. It seems they forgot to serve water, so I had to ask for it. I received my bowl after waiting for 10 minutes. Wow! The amount of noodles is huge... Let's dig in. The round and chewy medium-thick noodles are smooth and delicious. It's the classic Daishoken noodles♪ Yummy♡♡♡ The dipping sauce has a hint of seafood flavor. It's watery, but that's actually good♪ The toppings include crunchy bamboo shoots and thinly sliced chashu. The chashu has a nice meaty texture and is delicious♡♡♡ It goes perfectly with the dipping sauce!! I added some vinegar halfway through. It really goes well with the Daishoken sauce... And then I sprinkled some red pepper flakes. This is irresistible too!! More vinegar. So tasty♡♡♡ It's fun to customize the flavor to your liking♪ Before finishing, I received soup broth. This style is new to me! I tasted it little by little with the spoon. Delicious!! In the end, I poured it all in. I couldn't stop eating. Before I knew it, I was holding an empty bowl (lol). Overall... The seating space is narrow and feels a bit like a bar. It might not be very female-friendly. Also, it's delicious but the amount of toppings feels a bit lacking. If I didn't order the meat version, there would hardly be any toppings. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice. Thank you for the meal.

Maru-naga's lineage, with a long history, dates back to its founding in 1951 by the owner, Mitsuo Sakaguchi. The renowned Nakano "Daishoken" is known for its tsukemen dish priced at 750 yen. During my visit on May 18, 2023, I heard rumors about the Maru-naga lineage, including the fact that the current owner's father, Masayasu Sakaguchi, invited Katsuo Yamagishi to establish "Higashi-Ikebukuro Daishoken." It has been a while since I last visited Nakano "Daishoken," a place I particularly enjoy for its ramen. Today, I decided to try their tsukemen dish after eating ramen exclusively for some time. The restaurant was bustling with tourists, and I ordered the "tsukemen." As I looked around at the various decorations, I reassured myself that I was not doing anything suspicious.

I went after a long time. I've been coming here for over 20 years (lol). There are a lot of ramen shops around, but I didn't hesitate to come here. Special dipping noodles for 1000 yen with nori topping (it's back!) for 100 yen. It was so delicious that I finished it in no time. But it was surprisingly not crowded. In the past, there was always a line. The char siu was thinly sliced, and the bamboo shoots (menma) were delicious too. All in all, the Special is my favorite. It's my best dipping noodles.

①Both the origin of Katsu Curry and Ichigo Daifuku were nothing special, so I didn't have high expectations for this place either. ②It seems that the original location is slightly different from here, but I heard that Yamagishi from Ikebukuro Taishoken trained at the Taishoken in Nakano?

I arrived at the restaurant at 11:50 am on a regular day, with 6 customers already seated and 8 more coming in later. I had originally planned to go to the newly opened Honchan after visiting Muji's Uniqlo, but surprisingly, there were empty seats at Daishoken. It had been about 2 years since I last visited. I used the ticket machine to order dipping soba and medium-sized noodles. There was a notice at the entrance saying that noodle dishes would be increased by 50 yen starting from March 28, but it was still relatively cheaper compared to other places. Last time I visited, the dipping soba was 600 yen. I sat at the counter in front of the noodle boiling pot and watched the cooking process. They started boiling the noodles just then, preparing about 5 servings at once. They also prepared dipping sauce dishes for the dipping noodles and bowls for the ramen, adding toppings for each order. The dipping soba came with basic toppings like chopped chashu, thick menma, green onions, seaweed, sauce, shichimi spice, and oil. They drained the boiled noodles in a colander and rinsed them with cold water. After washing the noodles with cold water, they mixed them with the dipping sauce and served it. The medium-thick straight noodles were chewy and smooth, and the dipping sauce had a strong seafood flavor, making it delicious. The slightly salty chashu and menma were plentiful. Although the fish powder and fried tempura bits that used to be on the counter were no longer there, I added a bit of doubanjiang and quickly finished the noodles. I asked the foreign staff member who was working alone for some soup to dilute the remaining sauce, and it was a satisfying meal. I hope this long-standing representative restaurant continues to thrive.

This is a visit to Osho-ken in Nakano. This is the birthplace of tsukemen. I ordered the Special tsukemen for 950 yen. It comes with plenty of chashu and menma. Compared to Marunaga, the pricing seems cheaper. But the menma pieces are half the length. Thank you for the meal.
