I had a sudden craving for Chashu ramen, so I came back to Asakusa. I bought some ningyo-yaki and headed to Benkei. The prices have gone up a bit. I ordered the Chashu ramen for 1200 yen and added white negi for 220 yen. Let's get into it. Here we go. This is my second time, so here are my overall thoughts. First, the noodles. Plenty of them, and the regular size was enough. Next, the broth. Refreshing with a lot of back fat, making it creamy. The flavor is enhanced with doubanjiang and garlic. As for the toppings, there's a lot of negi, crunchy and delicious. Covered in back fat, it's irresistible. Plenty of bean sprouts too. The chashu is tender and comes in 5 slices. So, in terms of volume, back fat, satisfaction, this is amazing and addictive. Definitely visit the main Asakusa branch. Ramen is truly delicious. That's all for now. I've switched to Ameblo. https://ameblo.jp/yokohama-rameo

I usually love this ramen shop, and although I usually get soy sauce flavor, this time I tried salt flavor for the first time. The broth had a lot of back fat but the taste was light. The mini ramen had plenty of bean sprouts, so I didn't feel too guilty! I also ordered a mini bowl, which had grilled chashu that was delicious and fragrant.

I was working near the Skytree and finished around 24:00, so I decided to stop by this place. Even at this late hour, it was quite crowded. I ordered the classic ramen with a medium serving. It was quite rich and had a lot of vegetables, which made it very delicious.

Miso Butter Corn 1,190 yen
A ramen shop with plenty of back fat that becomes addictive, I heard. I went there late at night to try it out. You can choose from soy sauce, miso, or tonkotsu soup. There are many toppings available, and you can choose the amount of back fat and the firmness of the noodles. There was a recommendation for the Miso Butter Corn on the ticket machine! I had to press it. It must be delicious. Eating it in the middle of the night makes it taste 100 times better. Oh, this is delicious. It has plenty of sweet back fat, with the richness of butter. The miso flavor is not too strong, more like a soy sauce miso taste. There is plenty of corn on top of this, with thick, chewy noodles underneath. It's irresistible. It's really delicious, I'm hooked. And the next day, I wasn't hungry until late at night, but I was prepared for it, and I didn't get a stomach ache. Fantastic. It's great that they are open late at night. After drinking in Asakusa, this is the place to go for a meal. Thank you for the meal.

I personally like the tonkotsu broth with back fat, it was delicious! It was my first time so I ordered the regular option, but the noodles were quite soft, so ordering them firm might be tastier! Adding the garlic paste on the table gave it a Jiro-like taste which was great. I also ordered the fried rice, but the chashu was quite salty, so it goes well with beer, but be careful if you don't like salty flavors! Also, even the small size fried rice has a generous portion! The lunch set is available until 3 pm on weekdays and until 2 pm on weekends and holidays, so please take note!

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Ramen Benkei held its anniversary festival on September 10th at its Asakusa main store, Horikiri store, Monzen-Nakacho store, and Shin-Koiwa store. The year 50 years ago was also the year when the renowned Shirako restaurant "Tora Shokudo" opened. The Yoshimura family, the head of the family, opened their store the following year. I live just a 10-minute bike ride from Benkei, so I arrived 30 minutes before the opening. Although I usually prefer the Horikiri branch, I visited the Asakusa main store on this special day. The Asakusa main store was selling commemorative goods outside the shop, attracting fans. Items for sale included T-shirts, bowls, ladles, stickers, and souvenir soup. Customers who ate ramen could also participate in a lottery. I was able to enter the store through the special entrance for the 50th-anniversary celebration. I ordered the "Ramen with Half Fried Rice Set for 1,100 yen." I decided to go all out with the garlic today. The ramen came with a normal oil level, and the fried rice could be ordered as normal or spicy. I chose the spicy option this time, which was mixed with Benkei's special "Rai Dare" sauce, making it gradually spicier as I ate. The amount of oil in the ramen was just right for me to feel satisfied. The soy sauce flavor, combined with the richness of the oil, made me smile. The thick noodles from Asakusa Kaikaro were shiny with oil, providing a chewy texture and a satisfying bite. I added garlic from the table, which enhanced the overall experience. I ended my meal by wrapping the pork chashu and finishing everything. It had been a while since I visited Benkei's Asakusa main store, and I noticed that there were many female customers, showing that their ramen appeals to a wide audience. I wish them the best as they strive towards their 60th anniversary. Thank you for the meal.

Benkei Asakusa Main Store ⭐︎ Ramen ⭐︎ ⭐︎ Small Rice ⭐︎ I ended up coming here at 3am while on a drive. The guilt of eating ramen with plenty of back fat is unbearable, but why is it so delicious? The sweet back fat was amazing. Thank you for the meal.

Miso Negi Ramen for 1,170 yen. It was lunch time so a small bowl of rice was free, which was nice. It had been a while since I visited Benkei. As always, it had a lot of pork fat and was very filling. My friend had the classic pork fat soy sauce ramen. The miso ramen was not your typical miso ramen, more like a pork fat ramen? Well, it's great when you want something hearty. Delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Popular restaurant "Ramen Benkei Asakusa Main Store" started as a food stall in 1973. It is a back-fat chacha-style ramen that originated from Hopeken in Sendagaya and produced Naritake. The location is about a 5-6 minute walk north from Asakusa Station along a main street. Although it is in Asakusa, it is not in the bustling area near Senso-ji Temple, but slightly off the beaten path. The Asakusa Main Store is open until 4 am and also serves breakfast ramen. The breakfast ramen menu includes the following items from 7 am to 10 am: "Kake Ramen (Soy Sauce or Salt) (with or without fat)" for 600 yen (includes a small bowl of rice or seasoned egg for free), "Morning Fried Rice (larger portion than half fried rice)" for 480 yen, "Kake Ramen and Morning Fried Rice Set" for 1000 yen, "Gyoza (6 pieces)" for 450 yen, "Half Gyoza (3 pieces)" for 250 yen, "Medium Draft Beer" for 550 yen. The breakfast ramen is served by one person and only the 1st floor is used. The availability of gyoza and drinks may be for those working night shifts. The "Kake Ramen (Soy Sauce) (Seasoned Egg)" for 600 yen comes in a large bowl with plenty of back fat, green onions, and seasoned egg. If you don't specify, it will come with soy sauce and fat. The soup itself is clear but the bowl is covered with back fat, giving it a slightly fragrant and sweet taste. The saltiness is there but not overpowering, with the richness of the back fat being the key to the flavor. The noodles are medium-thick, curly noodles cooked al dente, providing a satisfying chewy texture. Even with just the Kake Ramen, the generous amount of green onions leaves you feeling satisfied. The seasoned soft-boiled egg adds a tasty touch. Adding grated garlic from the table is also a good option. The chili oil is also well-made. While the broth may not be very rich, the abundant back fat creates a unique flavor profile. It differs from Naritake in terms of the impact of the back fat and sauce, with Naritake likely having a more intense flavor even in the default setting.

This time, I tried the salt ramen since I've already had the soy sauce and miso flavors before. The salt ramen had a slightly light and clear soup base compared to the others. Even though it was rich due to the pork fat, I personally found it a bit lacking in flavor. I still think the soy sauce ramen is the best here. Also, the fried rice I had this time was quite sweet, which I didn't really like. I'll go back to ordering the soy sauce ramen next time.

Arrived in Asakusa. I drink in Asakusa about once a month, but today my friend said he wanted to eat ramen to finish the night, so we came here. I had heard the name before but it was my first time here. Many of the shops around Nakamise close by 9:30 pm, so it's a bit far to walk to Chidori-ashi, but we made it here. We were seated after a 3-group wait. Before buying a ticket at the ticket machine, I looked around the crowded shop, and all the ramen being eaten seemed to have a lot of back fat and a large portion. I bought a ticket for the soy sauce ramen on the signboard here, but I started to worry if I could eat it after drinking. Just in case, I tried to reduce the amount of back fat. It's a small risk hedge that can be done in your 50s. It arrived in about 7 minutes. Wow, there's a lot of food as expected. But it seems like there's not as much ingredients as Jiro-style. I'll try my best. The taste is slightly different from what I imagined. It's quite salty. This hot and humid situation might be just right for this salty taste. It's a taste that can become addictive once you get used to it. The chashu is delicious too. I managed to finish it by trying hard. My stomach is full. I might try coming here on an empty stomach next time! Thank you for the meal today too!

Last lunch before summer vacation. Today I decided to come here without hesitation since I am teleworking. I arrived a little before 12 o'clock and there were seats available at the counter. I didn't have to wait in line. I ordered the standard set with firm noodles and extra toppings. To be honest, the appearance was not very appealing, so I didn't have high expectations for the taste. However, once I took a bite, I couldn't stop eating! I started with the crunchy bean sprouts and green onions soaked in the broth, then moved on to the noodles hidden underneath. Finally, I enjoyed the fried rice with the remaining char siu and other ingredients. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal! I will definitely come back again.

I visited Ramen Benkei Asakusa Main Store. I ordered the lunch set menu [Ramen + Half Fried Rice Set] (1100 yen). You can choose your favorite ramen, so I chose miso ramen. I took a sip of the soup. It was hot!! Benkei's soup is always piping hot. And it's really delicious. The noodles are medium thickness, and they go really well with the soup. The chashu (pork slices) was also delicious. The set fried rice is made to order, so it's very tasty. I'm full again today. Thank you for the meal.

I found lunch in Asakusa today. It was my first visit to Ramen Benkei Asakusa Main Store, established in 1973. I ordered Negi Ramen with a side of complimentary rice. The medium-thick curly noodles perfectly complement the soup and pork fat. Although the noodles are not very firm, they go well with the soup. Despite the generous amount of pork fat, the dish is not greasy, and the fat adds richness to the flavor. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the friendly staff made me understand why this place has been loved for so many years. Thank you for the meal!

I tried calling various places but ended up at a normal one lol. Well, it's fine. I generally prefer standing-eating stalls in Monzen-Nakacho. Benkei back fat ramen is the best after all, with fresh noodles that accentuate the sweetness of the pork, and bean sprouts that add a refreshing touch. Before I knew it, I found myself drinking up the soup with gusto, managing to finish it off. It's been a while since I had such a satisfying meal lol.

A ramen shop recommended by Dad who only eats Chinese noodles, which is rare for a Dad. It is a ramen shop with rich tonkotsu broth, a little away from the center of Asakusa. The taste is lacking in soy sauce flavor and feels unsatisfying.

In the hot weather, I took a walk in the shade and had a lunch break. Sumida River was closed off, with few people around, but it will become a pedestrian paradise from 6 pm. It seems that about 1 million people will gather, which is unimaginable... Tonight, the Sumida River Fireworks Festival will be held for the first time in 4 years. What should I do next? First, I had the classic lunch at Benkei. Fried rice & small salt ramen *The small ramen has a stronger feeling of fullness than the small fried rice.

The original famous shop that sells back fat ramen, located on the outskirts of Asakusa with 3 branches, visited after seeing news about the price increase of back fat. Ordered the Ajitama Ramen for 1020 yen. It had plenty of back fat and a rich flavor. The noodles were thick and flavorful. Garlic is not included by default but can be added as a topping, which is convenient during work. This place sets the standard for back fat ramen, delicious. Also, the miso is tasty too. Thank you for the meal.

Every few months, I get the urge to eat something bad for my body...! So I went to Benkei just before closing! I ordered the noodles firm and with extra fat, and added lots of garlic! It was delicious, but afterwards I drank a lot of breath care! Next time, I'll order a mini ramen with noodles firm, extra fat, and no green onions!

After eating yakitori, I really wanted to have ramen as a finishing touch, so I went to Benkei for the first time in a while. I usually have the regular soy sauce-based ramen, but this time I ordered the tonkotsu ramen. It was quite delicious, but personally, I still prefer the soy sauce one. I'll challenge the miso ramen next time! I'll definitely come back again! Thank you for the meal!
