I've received this Taiwanese castella cake before, but it's really delicious in Harajuku. A friend gave it to me as a souvenir from a monthly event held nearby. This time it was hojicha flavor^_^ It was fluffy and tasty too! Ossu ossu!

I tried Taiwan Castella for the first time at this shop's event and it was so delicious that I decided to visit the shop. Unfortunately, I arrived after 3pm and the plain flavor was already sold out. I ended up buying the matcha flavor, which was also very tasty, but I really wanted to try the plain one again... I wish they would always have the most popular flavor available until the evening. The staff was also unfriendly, which was disappointing.

First visit in July 2022 (No.3752) On the day, it was cloudy but the temperature was 30℃⇧ and humid, so in order to achieve my goal of 20,000 steps a day, I walked from Kitazando to this shop (;゚ロ゚)w This shop is the first store in Japan of "Huang Bai Bai Japanese-style sweets", a brand being developed by "Sakura Blue Corporation" established in 2010 (Heisei 22). I have never been to Taiwan, so I am not sure how "Huang Bai Bai" is evaluated locally, but I purchased the following products (@@;) - Japanese sugar 886 yen This product has a shelf life of 4 days (●´ω`●) The Taiwanese Castella I bought at a shop in Ginza and tried before, but considering the size, it is a bit expensive. It uses Japanese sugar, has a delicate sweetness and a fluffy texture, and is delicious. I'm not eager to buy it again, but since it is said to be a step up, I will keep an eye on the future development of the number of stores (laughs) Thank you for the meal.

After finishing up some errands, I decided to stop by a Taiwan Castella cake stand I spotted while wandering around. I chose to sit in and ordered a simple castella cake with Japanese raw sugar and Dong Ding Oolong tea. The castella cake, served with cream, was surprisingly dense. Although I have tried castella cakes in Taiwan and Japan before, this one had a different flavor and texture. It lacked the typical eggy and fluffy feel, which was not to my personal preference. The attentive service from the staff was a plus.

I can't forget the authentic Taiwanese castella, so whenever I find a shop, I end up buying it. This time, they were out of the one with wasanbon sugar, so I bought the black sugar walnut and wasanbon cream sandwich instead. (I ate the wasanbon cream sandwich on the way back. It looked delicious, but the taste was as expected.) Despite my initial impression, the texture was incredibly fluffy, even better than any other shop's. Buying the black sugar walnut was the right choice! Definitely recommend it over the wasanbon one! I hope you try it and experience the fluffy texture, be surprised, and thoroughly enjoy it.

Just a 2-minute walk from Meiji-Jingumae Station, a new brand of Taiwan Castella called "Huang Bai Bai" opened in July 2021 and has been very popular. They use high-quality Japanese ingredients to create a superior version of Taiwan Castella. While mainly for takeout, they also have an eat-in space. Their offerings include "Washinobon" for ¥820 and Cream Sandwich for ¥350. When you warm up the takeout in the microwave, the fluffy texture of freshly baked Castella returns. The smooth texture and balanced sweetness of the egg make it easy to see why it's so popular. The generous cream filling in the sandwich, with both cream and Castella being fluffy, provides a new texture experience. The size and price are both reasonable, making it a great gift. I imagine the in-house dining experience must be delicious as well. Thank you for the meal.

The shop's name is Fan Pai Pai, a specialty store for Taiwanese castella cakes. There are a few counter seats inside the shop. It is located on a side street off the main street in Omotesando, with easy-to-spot storefront sales. The price for one cake made with Japanese sugar is around 850 yen. They are stored at room temperature on the day of purchase, and should be refrigerated afterwards. The cakes are chewy, bouncy, and moist without falling apart, which is nice. I tried eating them as is, in the microwave, and in the toaster, and found that toasting them slightly in the toaster was the most delicious way to enjoy them.

Visited for takeout in the afternoon on a regular day. Aimed for the freshly baked time. *Washio sugar @ 886 yen: Fluffy and fragrant~ I think anyone, regardless of age or gender, would love it♥ It's not too sweet, so it could go well with lightly sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream♪ Perfect as a souvenir gift.

It was a gift. I'm not a fan of sweets or desserts and usually don't buy them for myself, but this castella cake was not too sweet. The natural sweetness of the ingredients combined with the slight bitterness and aroma of matcha made it really delicious. It was soft and moist, and I would love to have it again.

Taiwanese Castella. I have noticed more and more shops selling it lately, and I have tried a different one before. This time, I bought the plain type, which I heard tastes like Awa wasanbon sugar. It was moist and fluffy, with a surprisingly fine texture like chiffon cake. It has a dense soufflé-like feel. Thanks to the Awa wasanbon sugar, it has a gentle sweetness. While Taiwanese Castella may be a trendy item, I quite like it. I am curious about the brown sugar version as well. Thank you for the meal.

Yellow White Japanese confectionery "Taiwan Castella Yellow White" has launched a new brand called "Yellow White Japanese Name Confectionery" (Fanpaipai Nichishikimeika), made with carefully selected high-quality Japanese ingredients to create a higher level of confectionery. It is available for a limited time from December 26, 21 (Sunday) to January 7, 22 (Friday) at Lumine Shinjuku LUMINE 1 B2F. I bought it right away. The Taiwanese Castella baked by artisans has a unique texture that melts in your mouth. I want to try various flavors since there are many options. I will definitely go back to buy more.

Huangbaibai is pronounced as Fanpaipai. It seems like it's not yet available in East Japan. I tried the Taiwan Castella with Awamitsubon at the Omotesando store. The texture is fine and it looks like chiffon cake. This Castella, made with Awamitsubon from Itano District in Tokushima Prefecture and domestic brand eggs, is indeed delicious. The batter seems packed tightly and has a nice melting sensation. It's quite different from the large grains of Japanese Castella, more like a cake.

A Taiwanese Castella shop located near Tokyu Plaza and Eggs'n Things in Harajuku. They offer both takeout and eat-in options. I purchased two flavors: traditional with Japanese brown sugar and a limited edition chestnut and roasted green tea. Each piece was quite large and dense. The Taiwanese Castella was smoother and more compact compared to Japanese Castella, almost resembling a soufflé. I personally enjoy cake textures like sponge or chiffon, so I liked the simple taste and texture of the Taiwanese Castella. It's a great option for souvenirs as well.

"The new brand 'Taiwan Castella Huang Bai Bai' offers a high-quality Taiwanese castella made with carefully selected ingredients. Taiwanese castella is characterized by its moist and fluffy texture, completely different from Japanese castella. It was very delicious! [Menu] ◼︎ Japanese roasted tea chestnut: Moist and smooth, with a strong roasted tea aroma. Overall, it is a sweet castella with chunks of chestnut that tastes delicious. ◼︎ Washed sugar milk: Sweet and milky. Simple yet delicious."

Limited time offer in November: I checked the baking time on Instagram in advance and visited at the right time. Luckily, I was able to purchase it! Taiwan Castella specialty store - Hojicha Chestnut Castella for 1280 yen. The fragrant hojicha with chestnuts is a nice accent. A fluffy Taiwan Castella that you can eat as much as you want.

This is a popular Taiwanese castella shop in Omotesando! It is located just off the main street with a small counter seating area inside. You can see them cutting the large castella at the storefront, and it looks really moist, fluffy, and bouncy. The classic castella is always fully booked, so I bought the lemon-flavored one instead. When I opened the box at home, the castella was thick and moist. After warming it up in the microwave for 30 seconds, it tasted almost like freshly baked. The sweet aroma of the castella and the sugary lemon scent filled the air. The texture was soft and moist, with a delicious egg flavor. The lemon sugar coating added a refreshing touch. It was incredibly delicious, and I finished it in no time!

Taiwan Castella cake was unexpectedly found here! I bought Uji matcha and Japanese brown sugar flavors and enjoyed them in the park. Both were not too sweet but very fluffy and delicious. The size of each cake is large, so sharing with friends or family is recommended. There is an eat-in space, but it's small, so it's better to take out and enjoy in Yoyogi Park or at home. This is a taste that will make you come back again.

I found a shop called "Kohakuhaku Japanese Meigashi" while walking back from the "Niku no Mori" (Forest of Meat). They sell a sweet called Taiwanese Castella, which seems familiar yet unfamiliar. I was drawn in by the delicious smell of Uji matcha Castella that had just finished baking, so I decided to stop by. They sell freshly baked items every 30 minutes, and the Uji matcha flavor starts at 12 o'clock. Since it was already past 11:30, they could only offer me "Wasanbon" flavor. I bought the Taiwanese Castella with Wasanbon for 853 yen. The prices were not clearly displayed, so I wasn't sure, but it seems like Uji matcha is a bit more expensive. I brought it home for a snack. The Castella was a brown, fluffy cake-like pastry. When I cut into it, the knife went through smoothly. It felt soft and delicate when held, with a bouncy texture when bitten into. It was interesting. The Castella had a fragrant smell of eggs and a gentle sweetness from the Wasanbon. It was light and I could eat as much as I wanted. The Taiwanese Castella was simple yet the deliciousness of the ingredients was evident. It was my first time trying it, and I found the texture interesting and quite delicious.

I stopped by before having lunch on Omotesando. The tapioca boom seems to have ended, but now it's Taiwan castella? I often see Taiwanese shops even for breakfast. Maybe because we can't travel abroad, so at least we can enjoy foreign cuisine? Taiwanese food itself doesn't have a strong taste, so it suits Japanese people. It's about a 2-3 minute walk from Meiji-Jingumae Station. It's located just off the main street connecting Harajuku and Omotesando. I visited right at the 11 o'clock opening, and it seems like the castella with wasanbon sugar had just finished baking. However, they also had a limited edition lemon flavor that caught my interest. They asked if it was okay since it was chilled and not freshly baked, but someone had mentioned in a comment that if you microwave it, it will become fluffy again. So, I decided to go for the limited edition lemon flavor. I'm weak for limited edition items. I also wanted to try the fruit cream sandwich that I was curious about. It needs to be refrigerated, and even though I shouldn't carry it around for too long, I couldn't resist and bought the one with Shine Muscat. I was a bit worried as I carried it around on a sunny day, but I managed to eat it outside. It was quite a challenge to open my mouth wide for the cream and fruits. The castella was soft and nice. It feels like a special treat. When I got home, I tried the regular lemon flavor castella. I warmed it up a bit in the microwave. Fluffy and refreshing with the lemon flavor. My husband, influenced by the image of Japanese castella, said it was a strange taste for castella. Maybe the popularity is due to the fluffy texture. It was too big for the two of us to finish, so we froze the leftovers and enjoyed them another day after microwaving. I'd like to try Taiwanese castella from other shops as well. I'm interested in the wasanbon sugar too, as my grandparents' house is in Shikoku. It seems like a trendy shop. Thank you for the meal.

My junior colleague who runs a gallery in Harajuku brought me this as a souvenir. It was fluffy and had the texture I love! I happened to be going to Izu Kogen at that time, so I brought it along as a snack and it was incredibly delicious. It also had walnuts inside, which I like! Awesome, awesome!
