The soba noodles are light and delicious, with a refreshing texture. The soup has a strong soy sauce flavor, but the broth is also tasty and can be finished completely. The tempura is incredibly crispy! The portion of rice is just right! Highly recommended! Thank you for the meal!

Ikebukuro, the closest exit from the west entrance is Metro C3 exit, which is on the Fukutoshin Line. It faces Rikkyo Street, so it's convenient to walk underground. In the past, you could say it was near Marui, but it's gone now. On a weekday in July around 1 pm, the restaurant was crowded. There were many customers who seemed like university students, probably from Rikkyo University due to the location. It was a good timing as the customers were leaving and the staff were cleaning up. I ordered the soba inari set in a steamed basket for 1,000 yen. The soba was thin and the presentation was flat. The inari was soba inari, which I hadn't had in a long time. It was exciting! The aburaage was not too sweet, which I liked. The soba inari alone costs 400 yen for 2 pieces, so 1 piece would be 200 yen. The steamed basket was 900 yen, so the lunch set was 100 yen cheaper. I also had soba tea and finished my meal. I forgot to take a picture of the warm soba menu. They only accept cash, so make sure to check your wallet before going!

A soba restaurant located a 4.5-minute walk from Ikebukuro. The restaurant is semi-basement and has a great atmosphere. I had the "Ten-zaru" which had a good texture to the soba noodles and the tempura was crispy and satisfying. I really liked the ambiance and would like to visit again.

I visited this restaurant again because I had a delicious memory from my previous visit. I wanted to enjoy some delicious sake while taking my time this time. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very calm and nice. I started with some small dishes and sake...*rolled omelette with broth*, *grilled miso*, *grilled chicken skewers*, and finished with cold soba noodles. Everything was delicious and paired well with the sake. The hostess was very attentive and mindful of the timing of the dishes, so I enjoyed my meal and sake comfortably. The cold soba noodles even had two luxurious prawns!! They were freshly fried and hot, with a nice crunch and the true taste of the prawns. It was very delicious! Both the ambiance and the food were great, making it a place I would want to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

"Tempura soba from Tenpura Soba. It was incredibly thick! Two huge prawns! I mean, they were really big. The prawn tempura was delicious. I personally prefer a stronger broth, so I thought the black soba with a slightly stronger soy sauce flavor would be better. It was a bit salty. But the prawns were really thick!"

Near Rikkyo University in Ikebukuro, there is a soba restaurant located in a semi-basement with a nice atmosphere where you can enjoy a leisurely meal. Today, I had the large serving of Okame soba. The toppings included datemaki (sweet rolled omelette), fu (wheat gluten), aburaage (fried tofu), kamaboko (fish cake), and mitsuba (Japanese wild parsley). I looked at it for a while, but it didn't really resemble Okame (a traditional Japanese mask) (laughs). The soba noodles were hand-made and slightly soft, and the soba dipping sauce was on the lighter side. Personally, I preferred the tempura soba that I had when I visited before. I would like to come back again when it gets warmer.

I was drawn to a shop near Rikkyo University with a slightly different atmosphere than the usual student hangouts. I ordered the tempura soba. The soba noodles were thin with a great aroma and flavor, very delicious. The portion of soba was small, and the dipping sauce was on the saltier side. The tempura shrimp was a good size and had a nice crispy texture, very tasty. It's a rare find in Ikebukuro, but the cost performance is a bit lacking.

I have always wanted to visit Nakamura-san's restaurant. This time, I had some business in Ikebukuro so I decided to have lunch here. I ordered the seiro (cold buckwheat noodles served with dipping sauce), soba inari (buckwheat sushi rice wrapped in fried tofu skin), and a bottle of beer. Before the seiro arrived, I enjoyed the soba inari and beer. It was my first time trying soba inari, and the sweet and salty fried tofu skin with buckwheat tasted great together! The new soba noodles in the seiro were also delicious with a nice texture. They went well with the rich dipping sauce. Thank you for the meal ☆ I would like to visit again soon! (^^) * Seiro ¥900 * Soba inari ¥400 * Bottle of beer ¥650

A while ago, I had been trying to catch a snuff film (a movie where actual murders are shown, for example, "Cannibal Holocaust") at a convenient time but had almost given up. However, I suddenly realized that the movie was playing at the ROSA theater in Ikebukuro at the perfect time. Since this theater doesn't offer online reservations, I decided to first get a ticket and then headed further west from the west exit. I passed by young girls enticing men with signs advertising prices of 1,000 yen and 1,500 yen, dodging them like tropical fish swimming in water. As I walked towards Rikkyo University, I carefully scanned the area once again. There were bustling shops with long lines and others that seemed to be ignored by everyone, creating a stark contrast. I had noticed the small soba shop with a flag out front before, but today I decided to finally go in. Inside, the place seemed surprisingly empty for the time, and the staff didn't seem eager to take orders without being called. I couldn't help but wonder why they were hesitant to move in such a light workload situation. Eventually, I ordered the "Ten Seiro (vegetables)" for 1,700 yen, knowing that soba shops in Tokyo tend to be pricier. The soba was finely cut and delicious, and the tempura with eggplant and pumpkin was fresh and tasty. The dipping sauce, however, was a bit lacking in depth. Overall, the soba was enjoyable with a texture that reminded me of cold Chinese noodles.

The nearest station is JR Ikebukuro Station. When you exit from the west gate and walk towards Rikkyo University, you will find this restaurant. There is a sign for soba noodles outside, and the restaurant is located in the basement. Inside, on the left side is the kitchen area, and on the right side are seating areas. They only offer one type of soba noodles, so I ordered the duck soba. The soba noodles are made with a 80:20 ratio of buckwheat to wheat, well-drained, and have a good texture. There are hardly any uneven cuts or scraps, and the flavor and aroma of the soba noodles are decent but not exceptional. The condiment provided is sansho pepper. The dipping sauce is made with duck meat and green onions, although the amount of duck meat is a bit limited, the quality is good. The soba broth is made with hot water from a kettle and has a nice aroma. The menu mentioned that the soba noodles are from Maruoka today, and they are serving excellent 80:20 soba noodles. It feels like they are making an effort to offer Maruoka traditional soba noodles at this price in Tokyo. It might be worth visiting during a better season for buckwheat to try a higher quality soba noodle.

Soba restaurant located one street away from the west exit of Ikebukuro Station for lunch❤️ First, quench your thirst with a small bottle of "Ebisu beer"❤️ For appetizers, try the classic "Itawasa" made with Kamaboko from Suzuhiro❤️ It's best with a dab of wasabi on top❤️ Another recommended dish is the famous "Sobainari" - sweet simmered fried tofu served with plenty of cold soba❤️ For the main dish, try the "Tenseiro Jo"❤️ The "seiro" features thin noodles made with carefully selected 100% domestic stone-ground buckwheat flour, with a rich flavor and smooth texture❤️ The dipping sauce is made with high-quality "Hondashi" and has a slightly spicy kick that complements the sweetness of the soba❤️ The tempura includes two shrimp, pumpkin, eggplant, and shishito peppers❤️ It comes with a side of salt for enjoying the crispy texture of the tempura❤️ The pumpkin, in particular, stands out with its sweetness enhanced by the salt, making it delicious and enjoyable❤️

This is a soba restaurant located near the chapel of Rikkyo University in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. I decided to visit based on Mairebi's review. Usually, I only eat soba, but this time I started with soba tofu, dashimaki, and tempura with shochu. The dashimaki was lightly flavored and nice, but the tempura was not outstanding. Tokyo's soba culture is well-established, which is great. It's rare to have the time to leisurely enjoy a meal like this, so it was much appreciated. The soba is made from the finest early harvest variety from Okura Village. It's a clean and delicious soba with a pleasant sweetness and good texture. The slightly spicy dipping sauce complements it well. It was a delightful meal. Thank you for the feast.

This restaurant has been around for a long time. However, there was a sense of uneasiness that made it hard to enter, so this was my first visit. The sushi restaurant next door had closed down. The location is about a 1-minute walk from the beginning of Rikkyo Street where the police box is, on the left side. The tempura set was 1600 yen and it was delicious. The portion of tempura was also sufficient. However, when I entered the restaurant, I faintly smelled a not-so-delicious scent. But that smell didn't bother me while I was inside. I want to believe that it was just at that moment.

I stopped by while I was at Tobu Department Store for some errands. I've been trying to lose a bit of weight recently, so I felt like having some soba. I visited when there was only one other customer in the quiet restaurant. I enjoy it when soba shops are quiet. Today, I ordered the mini-don set with kakiage don. The soba was smooth and easy to eat, and the amount of rice was just right. It was really good.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while but never got around to going. It came up in conversation at work, where a colleague mentioned they used to work here during their student days and recommended the soba inari. I decided to visit for lunch on a weekday. The restaurant had good COVID-19 measures in place, with partitions and spaced-out seating, which was great. I ordered the tempura soba with soba inari set (1100 yen) from the lunch menu. The tempura soba came with two shrimp tempura, which were freshly fried and deliciously crispy on the outside while juicy on the inside. The soba noodles had a slightly chewy texture that I enjoyed, different from what I've had at other places. Perhaps because I ordered it warm, the soba flavor felt a bit subtle. The soba inari, recommended by my colleague, was light and tasty compared to regular inari sushi. Overall, both dishes were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The calm atmosphere and the aroma of brewed tea inside the shop were amazing. The staff were also very polite. The soba noodles were thin and served in a bamboo steamer, but they had a good texture and no strong flavor. It was very delicious. I think this is a restaurant that could be selected as one of the best anytime!

Seiro (large) ¥1,100 The fragrance is nice from the new buckwheat season. The thin and crispy noodles have a good texture and are delicious. This time, I felt like the green onions were a bit distracting after finishing the meal. I like green onions, but they also offer a soba inari set for lunch, so I might want to try that occasionally.

It's a nearby place that I've been curious about since seeing it on Tabelog. Finally visited for the first time today. Since it's a holiday, there was no lunch set available. I wanted to try soba and tempura, so I ordered the assorted tempura with soba. As a bonus, I also got soba inari. The soba inari arrived first. The fried tofu was perfectly seasoned, not too salty or sweet, and it had a generous amount of soba inside, which was nice. A little while later, the assorted tempura arrived. The soba had a good chewy texture. The tempura was delicious, especially the crispy lotus root and fragrant shiitake mushrooms. The eggplant was juicy and tasty as well. The only downside was the shrimp tempura, which wasn't as crispy as I would have liked. For dessert, I had soba kuzu mochi ice cream, which I love because of the kinako and black syrup. The wife was beautiful. It's a place I want to visit again.

Tempura rice bowl set (1000 yen) with two buckwheat inari sushi (300 yen). On this day, the soba noodles were from Oikura Village, Yamagata Prefecture, using the finest quality soba. The restaurant seats customers with one seat apart and no shared tables, with acrylic dividers for safety and thorough disinfection. They serve cold tea, which is refreshing during this season. The set menu allows you to choose between kake (soba in hot broth) or seiro (cold soba). - Buckwheat Inari Sushi: Refreshing and juicy, with a subtle sweetness that complements the generous amount of sesame mixed in the soba. The soft soba noodles provide a unique and enjoyable texture, different from regular inari sushi. The added garnish was a nice touch. - Tempura Rice Bowl: Freshly fried tempura with a simple combination of onions, Mitsuba leaves, and carrots. The contrast between the tender and sweet onions inside and the crispy and fragrant onions outside is delightful. The rice was also delicious, and the well-balanced sweet sauce enhanced the overall flavor of the bowl. - Cold Soba Noodles: Firm and chewy, with a pleasant elasticity. The aromatic scent of the soba noodles when slurped up was delightful. The dipping sauce had a refreshing and slightly tangy flavor, with freshly grated wasabi provided at no extra cost, which was a pleasant surprise. The soba broth was also served at the perfect timing, and the semi-transparent broth was enjoyable on its own. The spicy pickles almost tempted me to order some sake, but I managed to resist. Overall, it was a satisfying meal with delicious soba noodles that were not overshadowed by the accompaniments.

Around 2 pm, there weren't many customers in the restaurant which felt a bit awkward, but then about 3 groups came in. I ordered a draft beer and started thinking about the menu, but the amount of draft beer felt a bit small. I ordered the "Tenseiro Kamogawa" for 2,200 yen. The difference between this and the regular "Tenseiro" is apparently just one extra shrimp. I wish the tempura was fried a bit more crispy, but it was still good. For the price, I think it's a bit on the expensive side considering you get two shrimp along with eggplant, pumpkin, and shishito peppers. However, the soba noodles were excellent! I think they are one of the best in Ikebukuro. The aroma and flavor of the soba were delightful and delicious! The balance with the dipping sauce was also great. I highly recommend pairing it with the "Mori" sake from the sake shop next door.
