It's drizzling and humid today. I decided to go to a nearby Indian curry restaurant. I chose the restaurant during work hours in the morning and didn't mind the rain. When I opened the door, it was quite crowded. I showed one finger to the local staff, and they showed me to a table for four that was available. For lunch, I ordered the Cheese Naan Set for 1,090 yen, with Keema and Butter Chicken, both spicy, and a Mango Lassi for my drink. It was my first time trying Cheese Naan. The regular customers were ordering Lassi without ice, and I noticed that the portion size was different. The Cheese Naan was quite heavy with melted cheese, making it difficult to focus on work in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the curry was clearly modified for Japanese taste, lacking the spice and flavor I was hoping for.

Located in the backstreets of Kanda Izumicho, "Roti Time" is an Indian restaurant that opened in March 2023. The quiet backstreet is adorned with orange, green, and white awnings that stand out. Inside, there are six four-person tables and two two-person tables. There is no television. The restaurant is run by two friendly older men who serve authentic Indian cuisine. I started with a draft beer (440 yen), served in a slim Asahi Super Dry glass. The menu features Nepalese-inspired dishes with a simple and clean layout. Dinner sets range from 1,000 yen for one curry to 1,300 yen for the Roti Special Set, which includes three curries, naan or rice, tandoori chicken, seekh kebab, and salad. I opted for the Roti Special Set and selected three curries - Keema, Spinach Mutton, and Butter Chicken - all at the highest spice level. The meal started with a salad of lettuce, cucumber, cabbage, and carrots with sesame dressing. The Roti Special Set arrived on a large platter, featuring the three curries, tandoori chicken, and seekh kebab. The naan bread was served in a basket and was large and delicious. Each curry had its own unique flavor, with the Butter Chicken standing out for its spiciness. Overall, it was a delightful and affordable Indian dining experience.

I visited the restaurant in the afternoon during the GW period. The restaurant is located near Mitsui Hospital, away from Akihabara Station. It's not very noticeable as it's in a place where not many people walk by. Once inside, I was seated at a table. I ordered the mutton curry set. You can choose between naan or rice, and I chose naan. After a short wait, the mutton curry and naan were brought to me. The mutton curry was well-spiced and delicious. The naan was soft and chewy. The mutton curry and naan were to my taste. The name of this restaurant is Roti Time, but there was no roti bread on the menu. I don't understand why they chose this name. #RotiTime #Akihabara #AkihabaraCurry #AkihabaraGourmet #CurryLovers #CurryWalk #CurryInstagram #CurryTour #MuttonCurry #Naan #Salad #GourmetIndian #Tokyo

・As I was heading from the military base to Akihabara Station, I passed through a back alley. This area surprisingly has few eateries, so I decided to go closer to the station. I came across a curry restaurant that I was familiar with, but the sign was different - it was now called "Roti Time." It used to be "Aarti Izumicho" before that, and before that it was "Tokyo Paradise." It seems like this area is known for curry restaurants. I considered trying "Aarti Izumicho," but for some reason, it had closed down. There is an Indian restaurant called "Indian Restaurant Aarti" nearby, so I guess that's why. The new place is called "Roti Time." Roti is a type of unleavened bread made from whole wheat flour, with chapati being a typical example. I looked it up later. The sign prominently displays "Naan" instead of chapati. "Roti" in English means roast, referring to dishes cooked in an oven or over an open fire. I don't really know the details, but I'm glad they serve naan instead of chapati. They offer a lunchtime menu where you can choose from 10 types of curry. The set options include a 1 curry set, 2 curry set, cheese naan set, barbecue set, and roti special set. It's a style where you can choose your favorite curry. The lunch set comes with salad and a drink. I love curry, but I usually don't eat out. I'm exploring new places now. I don't feel like making it myself. The interior of the restaurant is similar to "Tokyo Paradise," where I've been a few times before. It's 1:30 PM, so lunchtime seems to be over. It's a relaxed and nice atmosphere. The tables are a bit small, but it's okay. I decided to go with the "Barbecue Set," where you can choose two curries and get a grilled item. The "Curry Barbecue Set" is served in a familiar Indian-style plate. The naan arrives - it's huge! I was expecting a modest size, but it's larger than I thought. I might need a refill to avoid embarrassment. The curries are to my liking - one meat-based and one vegetable-based. They only have chicken and lamb, but the flavors are different and enjoyable. The naan is hot and fragrant, making the meal enjoyable. I asked for a refill of the naan to avoid embarrassment. The replacement naan is also large - a bit too much for someone on a restricted diet like me. It's warm and delicious, so I end up eating three pieces! I remember the shut-in guy at the military base who doesn't go out. I decided to get a takeout for him. It's only one type of curry, but it comes with a large naan for 500 yen. I also got a mango lassi, so I apologize for the worthless En... Thank you for the meal!

Akihabara's famous Indian restaurant, Aarti, opened a second branch in Izumi-cho due to concerns about overcrowding during the peak of the pandemic. Unfortunately, the Izumi-cho branch has closed down and been replaced by a new restaurant called Roti Time. Although I was hoping for roti based on the name, the menu at Roti Time is more Nepalese than Indian. The staff, however, are said to be from India. I tried the lunch set with a choice of mutton or seafood curry, and found the spiciness to be authentic Indian style. The flavors were a bit different from typical Nepalese cuisine, more spicy. The naan had a hint of sweetness, which made me wonder how it would taste with roti instead. Overall, Roti Time is not a bad restaurant, but I felt a sense of melancholy due to the various circumstances. Aarti's main branch nearby is still popular, with long lines even after the pandemic, perhaps indicating that the Izumi-cho branch had served its purpose.

Aarti Izumi-cho store, an Indian curry restaurant that opened on March 1st, was located where Aarti used to be. Aarti opened in 2020, and I had been meaning to go there someday, but due to the state of emergency caused by the coronavirus, I couldn't see if they were open for lunch. I thought, "I'll just wait until the coronavirus situation calms down before going," but then they closed, and this new restaurant opened instead. The location is on Showa Street, next to Takenaka-an Okano Akihabara store, and if you walk towards Mitsui Memorial Hospital, you will find it. When I arrived at the restaurant, I checked the menu outside. I'm the type of person who is satisfied with just one curry, and if they have mutton curry, that's perfect for me. And they did have it! Mutton curry (900 yen) with a choice of rice and spice level. When I entered the restaurant, there were three groups of customers already there. Considering the distance from Showa Street and the time being close to 2 pm, I thought it was quite busy. We were guided to a table for two and I ordered "Mutton, SUPER HOT, rice, mango lassi." First, the mango lassi arrived. It had a color similar to banana juice. When I tasted it, the mango flavor was quite subtle. I was surprised that they served the salad along with the curry. The first thing that surprised me was that instead of the stainless steel plate that is commonly used in Indian curry restaurants, they used a black plastic plate! I couldn't help but stare at it. The rice, curry, and salad were served on separate plates. I started with the salad. It mainly consisted of cabbage and lettuce with tomatoes and cucumbers as garnish. The dressing was the usual carrot dressing. The rice was white rice. When I tried the curry with the rice, I had ordered it extra spicy, but it was surprisingly mild. The mutton was tender and delicious, with no gamey taste. The white rice was too soft and moist, not the ideal texture for Indian curry. Japanese people may eat this kind of rice with miso soup, but it's different when it comes to curry. I would prefer a drier texture for the rice. Lunch comes with free refills of rice or naan, but the default serving of rice is already large, so I didn't need a refill. The curry was decent. Considering the rice texture and the taste of the mango lassi, it felt a bit overpriced. However, since they just opened, I hope they will continue to improve. Thank you for the meal.

The place used to be a curry restaurant, but it has been renovated and reopened under a new name. The interior feels more spacious compared to the previous shop. I had the curry set for lunch, with spicy chicken curry, naan, and mango lassi. The naan had a hint of sweetness, and although I ordered the curry to be medium spicy, it wasn't very spicy. I wished there were some spicy condiments on the table. The place was fully packed, with a line forming outside by 1 o'clock. I ordered an extra serving of naan and left feeling satisfied.
