Today, I traveled from Kochi to Kyoto. I made a stop along the way to enjoy some delicious Kyoto cuisine. This time, I stayed at this hotel, which is part of the JR West Japan group for the first time. I booked a room with breakfast included. The breakfast options included Japanese and Western cuisine, both of which were limited in quantity. I chose the Japanese option, which was focused on vegetables and had a light flavor, making it quite delicious. I only had the salad from the small buffet. After enjoying many delicious foods in Kyoto the night before, this breakfast was a great start to the day.

I stayed at a business hotel with breakfast in Kyoto in June. It was Hotel Via Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma in Kyoto City. The hotel is located between Shijo Station and Karasuma Oike Station, closer to Shijo Station, about a 5-minute walk. The exterior has a calm atmosphere and good ambiance, with good customer service. The room was small but clean, with a desk suitable for work. The breakfast buffet offered a mix of Japanese and Western dishes, with self-service salad, bread, and rice. It may not be the most exciting, but it's a good option to maintain a breakfast buffet in a business hotel. The taste was average. Overall, I thought it was a good deal to stay on a Saturday night with Sunday check-out, including breakfast, in a clean room for around 5000 yen near Kyoto Station. I would consider revisiting in the future. Thank you for the meal.

It used to be a buffet-style restaurant with a normal atmosphere, but it seems to have changed. Now you can choose between Japanese and Western dishes, and both rice and bread are unlimited. There is also unlimited pickles and salad, so the portion size is great! Lately, I've been really into seaweed-wrapped rice, so I think I prefer Japanese food. I was happy that during my four days here, I was able to wake up early and visit Kyoto Imperial Palace, Higashi Honganji Temple, and Nishi Honganji Temple. Thank you for everything!

From July 1st to 3rd, they plan to discontinue the free breakfast service starting from July 26th. On this day, I had already made a reservation to have breakfast at a nearby restaurant. I thought about just having coffee in the room and headed to the venue. Unfortunately, they said that taking food back to the room is not allowed. This is different from the usual "Toyoko Inn" where I stay. I had no choice but to drink coffee and juice at the venue. By the way, when I posted a comment on Google Maps, I received the following reply. Please refer to it! From June 30th to July 3rd, I stayed here for 3 nights. The parking lot attendant here is amazing! Even though I have only stayed about 10 nights, they already know my preferred parking spot!! Amazing!! ///////////////////////////////////////////////// On another day, there is a parking lot on the premises, so it is safe even in bad weather. And it's only 1,000 yen per night, which is a great deal!! This hotel, Hotel Via Inn, is probably my first time staying here. I tried the free breakfast since it was included. The accommodation fee is at the same level as Toyoko Inn. You can reserve a parking space, it's only 1,000 yen per night, and it's cheap. Plus, it's on the premises so it's safe even on bad weather days. However, the entrance is a bit hard to find. I mistook it for the entrance to the apartment building in front (one way). Breakfast is available from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM, which is great for someone like me who gets up early. As for the food, I'm happy that there is natto. It was disappointing that the soup from the machine was like corn soup. There were about 5 types of bread available, which was highly rated. I didn't eat as much as shown in the first picture, so it was a bit of a lonely breakfast. But I will stay here again. * At Toyoko Inn Shijo-Karasuma, the affiliated parking lot costs around 2,000 yen. Service 5.0 Location 5.0 Room 5.0 Reply; Reply from the owner 1 hour ago Thank you for using Hotel Via Inn Kyoto Shijo-Muromachi. We are truly grateful for your kind words about the parking attendant, location, and price. I will convey your compliments to the parking staff. Indeed, our parking staff always strive to understand the type of car and your preferences. We will continue to work even harder to meet your requests. We are also delighted that you were satisfied with the breakfast. However, starting from July 26th, the breakfast will be changed to a paid breakfast (1,200 yen including tax), where you can choose from a selection of Japanese and Western dishes, rice, bread, salad, drinks, etc. We will continue to strive to operate the hotel in a way that satisfies our customers even more. We look forward to your next visit. Thank you for taking the time to post a review despite your busy schedule. Manager of Hotel Via Inn Kyoto Shijo-Muromachi ○○ Front Desk ○○

I went to a hotel that offered free breakfast, thinking I would have salad or maybe try ochazuke. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the breakfast style was different than usual. The food was served in small plastic cups with a little bit of each dish, and the bread rolls were individually wrapped. I decided to have some boiled vegetables with rice, along with natto and seasoned seaweed.

On the day of the consumption tax revision, I tried using the free breakfast service. This was my second time staying here. The accommodation fee is on par with Toyoko Inn. The parking lot can be reserved for a cheap price of 1,000 yen per night, and it is located on-site so you can feel at ease even on bad weather days. However, if you enter the parking lot before the check-in time of 3 pm, there will be an additional charge of 1,000 yen. The complimentary breakfast had about twice as many options as Toyoko Inn, and it was all-you-can-eat. Today, there was no natto, but the sweet potatoes were a unique find.

When it comes to the evening (without meals), the ratings are as follows: [Evening] Overall 3.8, Food/Taste - , Service 3.6, Atmosphere 3.8, Value for Money 3.8, Alcohol/Drinks - I stayed here for 3 nights when I visited Kyoto for work. About 3.5 months ago, I booked a "【Consecutive Night Discount】Plan for 3 nights or more; with breakfast; smoking single room B; 1 person per room; total of 24,500 yen for 3 nights (including tax and service charge, excluding accommodation tax)" through a travel agency's website. The breakdown of the 3-night fee is 7,000 yen for the 1st night (Friday), 12,500 yen for the 2nd night (Saturday), and 5,000 yen for the 3rd night (Sunday). I checked in around 3 pm on Friday and checked out around 9 am on Monday. The hotel is located in the center of Kyoto city. It is about a 4-minute walk from Shijo Station on the Karasuma Line of the subway/Hankyu Kyoto Line, and about a 7-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station on the Karasuma Line/Tozai Line of the subway, and 7-8 minutes walk from Nishiki Market. It's quite a convenient location. There are plenty of restaurants in the area too! It's an 8-story building with a modern Japanese-style exterior. The right side of the 1st floor is a parking lot where you can park for 1,000 yen per day. However, it's a multi-story parking lot, so cars with a high height may not be able to park. But there are plenty of coin parking lots in the area. The interior is also modern and clean. It was well maintained. The 1st floor has the front desk, lobby, and breakfast corner, and the 2nd to 8th floors are guest rooms (5th and 6th floors are smoking floors). The staff were all friendly and polite. I confirmed during breakfast, but there were quite a few guests staying for all 3 days. Most of them seemed to be tourists. There were fewer foreign guests. [Room] I was assigned a room on the 5th floor. It's not very spacious, but it's sufficient for one person's stay. It is equipped with a double bed, desk/chair, TV, air purifier, empty fridge, electric kettle, hairdryer, unit bath (shower toilet), etc. There were no issues with the water area. The view from the window was so-so. [Breakfast] There is a breakfast corner on the left side of the 1st floor lobby. There were about 10 tables for 2 people and 1 large table for about a dozen people, and about 6 counter seats facing the window. Breakfast time is from 6:30 am to 9:30 am. It was quite crowded from 7 to 8 am. Breakfast is buffet style, with about 20 types of Japanese and Western dishes and drinks. The side dishes vary daily. The "dashi tea pickles" typical of Kyoto were good. It's a system where you sprinkle furikake and pickles on rice, and pour the dashi soup from the pot. It was refreshing even on a hangover morning. Also, the freshly baked bread that was constantly replenished was delicious. This hotel has a good location, is clean, and comfortable. I think it offers good value for money as a hotel in Kyoto city. I recommend it!

The mackerel was delicious... I feel like you don't see mackerel often at buffets, even though there's usually salmon. The mackerel was so tasty! I'm trying to stick to a low-carb diet for breakfast, so being able to adjust my meal was really helpful. When I come to Kyoto, I tend to be really active, so I end up eating twice as much as usual. I would have been even happier if there was yogurt and fruit (just one kind is fine!). They also had whole grain bread, which was great.

When staying in Kyoto, I always rely on this place, this is my third time here. The location is very convenient and the prices are reasonable. Moreover, they put a lot of effort into breakfast. Being in the bread town of Kyoto, they offer a wide variety of bread, and what I especially enjoyed was the dashi tea rice porridge. You can choose from four toppings, pour the dashi over it, and it is really delicious. This time, my stomach was a bit weak, so it really helped me out. They also have a simple salad, so you can get your body ready for work!

I resumed the year-end trip series after taking a break. I stayed at a hotel near Shijo-Karasuma Station in Kyoto after coming from Nara and woke up on the third day. I had a good night's sleep without drinking too much, so I was feeling well. I thought about where to have breakfast that morning, but then I remembered that the hotel's breakfast was free. Since it was complimentary, there weren't many options to choose from. They had croissants, potato salad or macaroni salad, vegetable salad, sausages, meatballs, grilled fish, and other typical buffet items. The highlight was the local specialty pickles like bubuzuke (rice with tea poured over it) and shibazuke. I decided to have a light breakfast and chose two types of mini croissants and Danish pastries, along with vegetable salad, rolled omelette, and meatballs. I also added soup and orange juice. The taste was nothing exceptional, but it wasn't bad either, especially considering the price of around 4000 yen per night including breakfast. The bread was quite tasty too. I added dessert (yogurt with sweet potatoes) and surprisingly found the sweet potatoes delicious, so I had another serving. I had originally planned to go to a cafe after breakfast, but I felt satisfied after eating so much, so I changed my plans and headed to my next destination, Kurama. In the end, I spent all three days having breakfast at the hotel, so I missed out on trying the breakfast I was looking forward to, as expected.

On a Sunday in the second half of June, I stayed at a hotel and had breakfast included in my plan. The hotel was located in Kyoto, and despite not usually eating breakfast, I decided to take advantage of the free meal this time. The hotel is part of the JR West Japan group and is conveniently located within a 5-minute walk from the station. Despite feeling a bit hungover from the night before, I managed to make it to breakfast. I chose a variety of dishes, although the presentation was not the best. However, to my surprise, everything was delicious. I wished I had taken more food as the portions were a bit small. I was about to get more food when I realized I only had 10 minutes left before meeting my friend, so I had to give up on the idea. Overall, it was a satisfying breakfast experience.

During our Kyoto autumn leaves viewing trip, we stayed at Vian Kyoto Shijo Karasuma. The hotel was reasonably priced compared to others during the peak season. It was December, so there was a Christmas tree decorated next to the front desk. The hotel is small and simple. The hotel offers luggage delivery service from JR Kyoto Station, which was very convenient. When we checked in, our suitcases were already in our room. We stayed in a twin room, which seemed to be a spacious room at the end of the hallway based on the evacuation map. The bed linens had a Kyoto-like design. The bathroom was combined with the toilet. The shampoo, conditioner, and body soap provided were from POLA. I brought my own shampoo and conditioner just in case, but I didn't need to worry as the ones provided worked well for me. Breakfast was complimentary for guests at this hotel. The menu included freshly baked bread, rice balls, sausages, salad, fruits, miso soup, soup, coffee, and juice. There were no egg dishes like scrambled eggs or bacon, but it was sufficient for a free breakfast. The freshly baked bread came in mini sizes with about 5-6 varieties. The rice balls came in four flavors - salmon, bonito, plum, and mixed. The soups were dispensed by pressing a button. Miso soup had tofu and seaweed in a cup, while corn soup and onion soup were without any ingredients, just press the button. We stayed for 3 nights and had breakfast here every morning. While the salad, fruits, sausages, and soups were the same daily, the bread and rice balls were different each morning. I couldn't resist trying different flavors of bread and rice balls each day. Despite overindulging in carbs, I justified it by walking over 20,000 steps daily sightseeing. This hotel was very convenient for us as it helped us save on accommodation costs, have a quick and easy breakfast, and start our sightseeing early.
