This is a Taiwanese vegetarian restaurant that I have always wanted to visit. The dishes are made without any meat, fish, or eggs, using only vegetables and broth. The food, such as shredded yam with broth formed into a ball, stir-fried vegetables with broth, and vegetable sauce, was all delicious. It was so tasty that I almost wanted to have seconds of rice. I was searching for Taiwanese vegetarian food that I had in Taiwan, and finally found it in Nakano Broadway. Everyone was ordering the daily lunch special for 1,100 yen. I hope more Taiwanese vegetarian restaurants will open in Japan. Keep up the good work.

I went to have seiro rice at "篝" on the same floor, but it was closed, so I decided to try this place that I was curious about but a little hesitant to enter. Around 11:40, there was only one other couple who seemed to be first-time visitors. The woman in the couple was a foreigner, so I guessed she might be a vegetarian. The daily special menu was posted outside, so I thought that would be fine and entered the restaurant. However, when I saw the couple looking for a menu, the female owner said, "The one posted is not helpful. Would you like the daily special?" so it seemed like the only choice was the daily special for 1100 yen (tax included). The daily special on this day was tofu kaba-yaki. First, we were served warm tea, and then we were asked, "Is it okay to add eggs?" In authentic vegetarian cuisine, eggs are not included. After waiting for about 10 minutes, the daily special was served on a tray over the counter. Besides the main dish, it included rice, clear soup, vegetable stir-fry, sautéed burdock root and seasoned egg, and pickles. Honestly, without meat or fish, the content seemed a bit expensive at 1100 yen, but it would be appreciated by those who are health-conscious. The owner mentioned that there are regular customers who come every day. The taste was overall gentle, with more volume than it appeared, and I felt satisfied. Since I usually eat high-calorie foods, having such a lunch occasionally is good. If only it were 100 yen cheaper.

I, who loves brown side dishes in bento boxes, went to eat at a vegetable-only restaurant. The menu changes daily and is not listed, so I asked my mom. Today, it was "katsu" (made with vegetables), so I chose that without hesitation. The katsu that came out looked like real pork, and when I tried it, I couldn't tell it was made from vegetables and it was delicious. There were various side dishes like tamagoyaki and tofu, and all of them were tasty. With vegetable dishes like this, I could eat them every day.

I visited Nakano Broadway the other day, a retro shopping mall with vintage stores like Mandarake. I started by having lunch at a vegetarian Chinese restaurant called Korinbo. The Taiwanese owner seated me at the counter and I ordered the daily set meal. The meal was vegetarian, with delicious and satisfying dishes. The soup was flavorful, and the sauce was especially tasty. I asked for a second helping of rice to enjoy every last bit. It was a lunch that was both good for my body and the planet. Afterward, I wandered around Nakano Broadway.

Looking for a missed lunch, I headed to Nakano Broadway. I found a place that was usually crowded, so I decided to go in. Apparently, vegetarian cuisine is popular in Taiwan due to its Buddhist influence. The restaurant was run by a Taiwanese lady. I wanted something warm, so I ordered a Taiwanese-style tantan noodles soup. The recommended flavored egg was a bit pricey at 150 yen each, but it was indeed delicious with a hint of star anise. The lady seemed to have a kind and gentle personality, reminiscent of older Taiwanese people, which made the experience enjoyable and soothing. I recommend visiting during off-peak hours to enjoy the foreign atmosphere.

Once again, a natural food spot in the Nakano area. This place serves Taiwanese cuisine made by a Taiwanese mom. It's all vegetarian, no meat or fish. They even asked if you wanted eggs because in Taiwan they don't eat eggs either. The daily set meal costs 1,100 yen, which may seem high for home-cooked food, but everything, including the sauces, seemed to be homemade. They serve white rice because they believe that brown rice can be hard on the body if not chewed properly. The owner always reminds customers to eat slowly. There is also a tonkatsu set available, with a lot of fried food. They mentioned that raw vegetables are not good, yet there was raw cabbage underneath the fried food. The pickled daikon was bright yellow, which made me wonder if it was artificially colored. Despite some doubts, I feel like going back again. The place only has a counter and is located in a mixed-use building, so it may not be suitable for families with children.

Today's set meal for 1,100 yen was the worst value for money this year. Considering the taste and location, it should have been around 650 yen. I thought the owner was from Ishikawa Prefecture based on the name, but it turns out they are a foreigner who can speak Japanese, although somewhat awkwardly. There was a sign in the restaurant for a daily set meal for 1,100 yen, which I thought was different from what I ordered, but I was surprised when I was told the total was 1,100 yen at the checkout. I will definitely not be going back there. The value for money is just too poor.

I tried the noodles at Kourinbo San and it was interesting ☆彡 They offer options without meat, seafood, or the five pungent spices. They asked if I wanted to add egg. It was enjoyable and I wonder if this is the typical style in Taiwan? For more details, check out the video at https://youtu.be/ZGhlyzCm2Ek

Hello! This time, I visited a restaurant that I've known about since becoming an Oriental vegetarian in 2006 but hadn't had a chance to visit until now. The menu is all Oriental vegetarian, Taiwanese vegetarian ☆ You can order anything you like, so it feels very free and fun. I was torn between the daily special and other options, but in the end, I chose the Shojin Katsu set meal. It was incredibly delicious! For more details, please check out the video and blog post linked below.

I heard about a Taiwanese restaurant that serves vegetarian dishes without meat or fish, so I decided to visit. It is located on the second floor of Broadway, and for those who are not familiar, be sure to take the stairs instead of the escalator to avoid ending up on the third floor. The second floor of Broadway is like a hidden gem with quirky figures, manga, and small eateries resembling backstreets of Osaka. Towards the left, you will find Kaolinbo. The interior of the restaurant has around 8 counter seats, and it is run by a Taiwanese lady. During the Golden Week holiday, she mentioned that she was returning to Taiwan, so the menu changes daily. However, the regular customers seem to be aware of this routine without needing any reminders. The main dish was vegetarian soy meat karaage, which was delicious. They also offer unlimited rice refills, so I ended up having two servings. I will definitely visit again when I am in the area.

Mom provides the most enjoyable, kind, and deep conversations. She is always like a mother, straightforward yet insightful. It's a gentle taste, but satisfying.

I think it has been over 15 years. It was a long time ago, but now I live in Yamanashi Prefecture. The first time I knew about this restaurant was when I discovered that "shiitake mushrooms, as a meat substitute, had a meaty texture and were surprisingly delicious!" In a world where butcher shops have never disappeared, we often forget to be grateful for living things in our daily lives. (I later found out about gluten meat, a soy-based meat substitute with a meaty texture.) I am not a vegan or a vegetarian, but at least knowing that "shiitake mushrooms can provide the satisfaction of meaty texture" was a valuable lesson. I researched and found out that this precious restaurant still exists, and I was happy to know that. I still remember the face of the lady who runs the place! I hope she is doing well. I sometimes visit Tokyo. I plan to go eat at this place in Nakano Broadway 2nd floor.
