On days when I finish work early, I like to relax and have a drink while watching the evening news program here. I start with some chicken skin with ponzu sauce, which has a crispy texture and refreshing taste that is just right as a starter. After beer, I switch to a Hoppy set. The pouring style at this place is really good. I ordered the mustard-flavored nanohana (rape blossoms) salad, which was listed as the lucky menu in the morning horoscope or on the daily menu. Although it was already night, it felt like spring so I went for it. However, the dish had too much moisture, causing the mustard flavor to fade, which was disappointing. But the nanohana itself was delicious. To lift my spirits, I ordered the buttered potatoes. This was a hit! The fluffy potatoes with a perfect balance of salty miso and butter were irresistible. The salty miso was so delicious on its own that it brought everything together nicely. The Hoppy glass was still full, so I ordered some skewers. In addition to the classic chicken wings, I chose my favorites: garlic, leek meatballs, nagaimo (Japanese yam), and asparagus. They were all delicious. For the finale, I had my favorite braised pork belly rice bowl. I ordered it in advance, and when the lid was lifted, a wonderful aroma filled the air. The ingredients included pork belly, bamboo shoots, quail egg, shiitake mushrooms, and carrots. The slightly burnt rice at the bottom added a nice touch. The meat, after being cooked with the rice, became tender and infused with flavor, with just the right amount of fat. I scooped some into a bowl, and savored every bite. It was so delicious that I couldn't resist, even though I knew I should be cutting back on carbs after drinking. I always end my meal with either the braised pork belly rice bowl or the tonkatsu and rice. Another delicious meal tonight. Thank you.
