Last week, I took advantage of a weekday off and headed to Ginza and Shinbashi in the morning☺️ One of the main purposes was this restaurant! "Sichuan Tantanmen Nanatsuboshi," a Tantanmen specialty store known for its super rich creamy Tantanmen The store has two locations, the Shinbashi branch and the Ichigaya branch. The store is new, with a chic and stylish interior, very nice✨ This seems to be popular with women and would be great for a casual date❤️ I purchased a meal ticket at the ticket machine next to the entrance (outside) and entered the store. It was around 11:30 on a weekday when I entered, so I was able to enter easily, but there were already some customers ahead of me, showing how popular the store is! The menu we had‍♀️ was as follows ▶︎ "Sichuan Tantanmen (white sesame)" 1,000 yen * Spiciness 2, numbness 2 (both standard) ordered We ordered the restaurant's signature menu(?) with spiciness and numbness set to "Recommended for first-timers" level 2! The soup is thick and creamy, and the ingredients and soup do not naturally mix, so I mixed them well before enjoying the hot Tantanmen ▶︎ The soup is just super super rich with sesame sauce‼️ The thick, viscous sesame soup is topped with chili oil and Sichuan pepper. The spiciness is not that strong, but the numbness is quite strong for the standard level! Yeah, I like it The chili oil is so delicious❤️ Not just spiciness, but it has a kind of umami flavor Official Instagram account shows that the chili oil is blended with 6 types of chili peppers and further flavored with star anise, cinnamon, and Sichuan pepper! It seems to be very particular and painstakingly prepared▶︎ The minced meat that comes as standard is large and chunky, and the peanuts add a crunchy texture that is very good! Typically, in Tantanmen, the ingredients are finely chopped to blend into the soup, but here everything is chunky and assertive‼️ I really like these kinds of ingredients❤️ The copious amount of ground sesame, like powdered cheese, has a fragrant aroma, and it's irresistible▶︎ Noodles And the noodles were delicious too!! They were chewy with a strong texture, and they mixed well with the rich and punchy soup✨ The soup is so rich and creamy that it feels like eating fresh pasta The combination with the soup is perfect▶︎ Finally, the soup here is by far the richest and thickest among the Tantanmen I've had recently, and the noodles are chewy and substantial, with a generous amount of noodles, as well as peanuts and minced meat adding a satisfying texture. The satisfaction level is quite high‼️ Especially the soup was so delicious, I almost finished it all! If you put rice in this rich and thick soup, it looks incredibly delicious...(The trio of salarymen next to me were getting rice) I don't come to Shinbashi often, but I definitely want to visit this place again❤️ I really liked it!! I visited the restaurant at noon on a regular day. The place was about 90% full. I ordered the original tantanmen with a spice level and numbing level of 3. The soup was rich and delicious. The spice and numbing level were just right for me. I wish they offered a half rice option for lunch. Also, the water at each table was lukewarm. Not sure if it was just a one-time thing. Thank you for the meal!

Conclusion: This is the best tantanmen I've ever had. The minced meat had a well-balanced flavor, not too spicy or sweet (though you can adjust the heat level), with a hint of crushed peanuts adding to the overall balance. The system allows for customization of spiciness, but I found the standard balance to be perfect. It made me happy to realize that my taste aligns with the restaurant's. I'll try adjusting the spiciness level a bit on my next visit.

I visited around 4 pm. I bought a meal ticket from the ticket machine and entered the shop, where there was no one else. I had the white tantanmen. It was delicious with a good balance of sesame and Sichuan pepper. The only downside was that the water in the pot was lukewarm. Next time, I would like to try the original flavor.

As of August 2023, I visited the restaurant around 8:00 PM on a weekday and it was relatively empty. This place specializes in tantanmen (Sichuan-style noodles). Although I usually like tantanmen with soup, during the hot summer, I couldn't resist trying the soupless tantanmen. The soupless tantanmen comes with a slightly lower spice level compared to the standard one, so I chose one level below the standard spiciness. It had a very rich flavor with a good amount of spiciness and numbing sensation. You can adjust the spice level and numbing sensation separately, so if you're not a fan of the numbing sensation, you can reduce it. I also tried the chicken skin dumplings, which were also delicious (be careful, they're hot).

I visited the restaurant around 11:30 on Thursday and it was quite empty inside. It was my first time there, and instead of the classic white sesame tantanmen, I ordered the soupless tantanmen with medium spiciness based on my personal preference. The rich flavor and stimulating spiciness made me unable to stop eating and sweating. However, as someone who is not a big fan of Sichuan pepper (I know, I shouldn't have gone there in the first place), I think it would be better to go easy on the spiciness. It's a bit of a walk from the station, so it might be tough in the summer, but the taste is definitely worth it!

Paiko White Tantan Men. It's rare to have thick noodles for tantanmen. It's satisfying and delicious. Recommended for beginners with mild numbness and spiciness levels of 2. I prefer it to be a bit spicier with stronger numbness. The biggest challenge is the paiko. The seasoning is strong, at a high level. Because of this, the overall spiciness feels weak. Harmony. It's a difficult word.

Paiko Sichuan Dan Dan noodles for 1,280 yen. Rice for 180 yen. The soup is rich and flavorful. The thick noodles go well with it, making it a satisfying meal. The spiciness level was just right at 2 (standard), but I forgot to ask them to remove the numbing sensation, which I don't like. Without the numbing sensation, I think it would have been even more delicious. Anyway, I will definitely come back again.

We were seated at a table for two in the back left corner and waited. After 6 minutes, the "Szechuan Dan Dan Noodles - White Sesame" was served. The dish consisted of minced meat, peanuts, chopped green onions, sesame seeds, chili oil, and Sichuan pepper. The soup was rich with sesame flavor and delicious chili oil. The chili oil here is a blend of 6 types of chili peppers, combined with star anise, cinnamon, and seasoned with Sichuan pepper for added aroma and flavor. It's delicious. The Sichuan pepper gives a tingling sensation. The noodles were medium-thin and slightly curly, with a chewy texture.

In August 2023, for dinner, I went to a restaurant in Shinbashi. I got off at JR Shinbashi Station, took the Karasumori exit, turned left onto Yanagi Street, and found the restaurant I was looking for, called "Sichuan Tantanmen Nanatsuboshi". I bought a meal ticket from the ticket machine outside the restaurant and sat at a table for two inside. I ordered the Sichuan Tantanmen with white sesame for 1,000 yen including tax. I chose the highest level of spiciness and numbing sensation, which were both free. The Sichuan Tantanmen was served in about 5 minutes, with a rich and thick soup. The soup was flavorful, with a strong kick of spiciness and numbing sensation. The noodles were medium thickness and had a chewy texture that paired well with the soup. Despite being a bit of a sweater, I didn't sweat too much after finishing the meal, so the level of spiciness was just right.

Ordered the soupless tantanmen and rice. It was a critical hit with no complaints. The taste reminds me of the Sichuan mazesoba at Mizuki in Nishinomiya-kita. It's really delicious. I feel like trying the regular tantanmen as well, but the soupless tantanmen is just too good to pass up. I might have to find an excuse to come to Shinbashi just to eat this.

I had plans in Shinbashi, so I went to a nearby tantanmen restaurant. I ordered the black with spice level 2 and numbness level 2. The spiciness was just right for me. My friend who was with me ordered the white, which was a bit milder (less numbness?) and easier to eat than the black.

I visited around 2 p.m. It was easy to find, about a 5-minute walk from Shinbashi Station along the main street. They were out of paiko, probably due to the time. I wanted to eat meat. I chose a level 3 for both spiciness and numbness. It was just the right amount of spiciness that was delicious and easy to eat. I felt more numbness than spiciness from the chili peppers. The sesame was rich and the tantan noodles were thick and creamy. The noodles were chewy and thick, with plenty of meat miso topping that had a firm texture and was delicious.

I ordered tantanmen. The portion is not large, but it is a refined bowl. I visited around 14:40 on a weekday, but all the other shops had already finished serving lunch. I wandered around and luckily found this place, which was open all day. When I entered, it took a while for the staff to notice me, but eventually I was seated at a table near the entrance. I ordered the spiciness level 2. There is a ticket machine outside, but many people didn't seem to notice it. The taste was spicy and numbing, like Sichuan style, and very delicious. I would like to come back again.

After a long time, I visited Toranomon and had lunch at Nanatsuboshi, which I had never been to before. The top left rule is the white sesame tantanmen, but it's unthinkable not to choose Szechuan when it's available, so I ordered it with a spice level of 3. The soup was quite thick and the thick noodles went well with it. There was a generous amount of pork and minced meat, but it lacked a bit of richness and meatiness.

Had lunch in Shinbashi. I had been curious about this place for a while. Arrived at 12:00 and had to wait for one group ahead of me. Waited for 10 minutes and then entered the restaurant. I ordered the white sesame tantanmen for 1000 yen. I have always loved white sesame tantanmen, so I was really looking forward to it. They asked me about the spiciness level, and thinking that restaurants like this are usually very spicy, I chose level 1. Later, I realized that level 1 was for "people who are not good with spicy food". I wondered if I should have chosen level 2 instead. But as expected, the spiciness and numbness were mild. The taste was very delicious. I want to go back soon to try level 2 spiciness.

This morning, I was craving something spicy, so I ordered the original level 3 spiciness for the first time. It's quite different from level 2! The spiciness is just right, making it deliciously addictive. I was completely satisfied. I like to add rice at the end and eat the remaining toppings. I was thinking that I wanted some refreshing udon for lunch when I got off at Shinbashi Station, but on a hot day, spicy food might be good too. I decided to come here. I chose white sesame at the ticket machine, thinking that sesame is good for the body. When asked about the spiciness level, I chose the second level. Soon after, my bowl arrived and I started eating right away. There seems to be a lot of sesame in it, and the spiciness is also mild and delicious. The chopped onions are also good. Maybe level 3 spiciness would be good too.

I went again. The spiciness and numbing punch in the flavor are still the same. Especially the numbing sensation is so strong, it really packs a punch. There aren't many places that can make you feel this numb. I think this tantanmen can be enjoyed all year round, whether it's hot in the summer or cold in the winter.
