サカキシンイチロウ
I had dinner in the neighborhood tonight at a soba restaurant called "Takumi". When it comes to soba, it is a local dish from the area around Ogiya in Niigata. There are a few restaurants in Tokyo that serve this regional specialty, and this restaurant is one of them. Even though they specialize in soba, their main branch is in Tokyo. So they boldly advertise as "Tokyo Soba" without lying in their business approach. It's a hidden gem located in the basement of an inconspicuous building, yet surprisingly popular. Today, only counter seats were available, showing how busy they are. I ordered a drink and started with a white fish and avocado tartare as a snack. The chewy texture of the white fish complemented the creamy avocado, enhancing each other's flavors. Next, I tried the Tochio fried tofu, another Niigata specialty. It consisted of thick fried tofu with green onions sandwiched inside. It was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, with a variety of fillings like green onions, natto, and miso. The combination of flavors and textures was a delightful treat. I also tried the soba seed croquette, which was a round ball with soba seeds mixed in. When I split it open, the crunchy texture of the soba seeds combined with the creamy taro inside, creating a unique and enjoyable experience. I then had the miso konjac, a simple yet flavorful dish of hot konjac with miso paste. The chewy texture of the konjac was satisfying, and the dish was full of umami. Finally, I ordered the signature soba noodles to finish off the meal. The soba noodles were meticulously prepared, washed in cold water, and served in a neat arrangement on a bamboo strainer. The noodles had a firm texture and a rich flavor, especially when dipped in the savory broth. Along with the soba, we also had tempura, including shrimp, onion, scallop, pumpkin, shishito pepper, and eggplant. Each piece was perfectly cooked and came in pairs, making the meal even more enjoyable. The restaurant was warm and cozy, which made the cold soba noodles taste even better. I will definitely be back again.
