I had a craving for some smooth and slurpy hegi soba, so I decided to visit this place. Personally, I think the hegi soba here is even better than the one I had in Niigata, the home of hegi soba! The soba has a great texture thanks to the use of dried seaweed, and the smoothness as you slurp it down is outstanding. I also love the flavor of the dipping broth. Additionally, the fried tofu from Tochio here is incredibly delicious! My favorite is the negi miso with thinly sliced leeks and a sweet miso paste, but the negi mentaiko and negi miso natto are also tasty! The fried tofu is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, with a light texture that makes it easy to eat. On this day, the Tochio fried tofu was so good that we ended up ordering all three varieties in half sizes and devoured them with my friend. The prices for each dish may be a bit high, but the hegi soba and Tochio fried tofu are so delicious that this is a highly recommended restaurant. The staff is also very friendly.

The soba was very delicious. For an additional fee, you can enjoy various dipping sauces, and I chose the classic sesame sauce. I was surprised to find garlic in it, but it surprisingly goes well not only with shabu-shabu but also with soba. Garlic is the best! It would be nice if the prices were a bit more reasonable, including the appetizers, but it's not outrageously expensive.

Delicious. I can eat enough Higisoba to satisfy my stomach, and other dishes besides soba are also delicious. I can't really drink alcohol, so I had soft drinks, but I imagine that the combination of this soba and sake would be delicious for those who like alcohol. It's also great that they are open late into the night! Also, it's nice that it doesn't get too crowded late at night due to the local area. It's recommended as a place to enjoy delicious food leisurely. I will go again!!! It's also recommended for a lively date with someone who likes alcohol.

Visited on Friday around 6 pm. There were already many people, but I was seated right away without waiting. The fried horse mackerel with plum and shiso stimulates the appetite even on a hot day. The firefly squid marinated in seaweed, hegi soba, and grated yam soup. I paired it with matsutake mushroom tempura on the soba, which had a good chewy texture and a refreshing taste. I finished it all in no time. Thank you for the delicious meal.

At Hega Soba, I always order the thick fried tofu with natto because I love it (lol). The side dishes are all delicious and enjoyable before the soba. The sashimi is also tasty, making it a place that anyone can enjoy. There is a wide variety of alcohol options, so it seems like you can order a lot if you can drink.

This is a user-friendly restaurant that stays open late. Every dish is delicious. The soba noodles are firm and have a good bite to them. There are plenty of additional dipping sauces available. I added sesame sauce. The portion of soba noodles is quite large... even for 3 people, it may have been too much. Thank you for the delicious meal.

It's been a while since I last visited this place. At one point, I felt like avoiding it because it was in an underground enclosed space, but it seems to have fully recovered now. I ordered a course that included all-you-can-drink sake for about 6,000 yen. Originally, it was said to be a semi-private room, but for some reason, we were seated at the edge of the tatami room. I didn't quite like that. The food included sashimi, Tochio grilled fish, Hegi soba, and tempura, and there were several types of Niigata sake available for all-you-can-drink, so I was reasonably satisfied. However, I was a bit disappointed with the operation.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was calm! It was a meal with my boss, so we were able to spend time chatting leisurely ☺️ Also, we tried all the menu items listed in the ranking, and they were all great. I hope they change the ranking next time and I would like to make a reservation and visit again!!!!

I went to have lunch at Tsukiji Soba Takumi in Tokyo. The restaurant is located underground and even though it was a weekday lunchtime, there were a few customers already inside. I ordered the lunch set with soba and a mini rice bowl, and chose the oyakodon. The soba had a great texture and was delicious, with a nice firmness. The oyakodon had a slightly strong flavor which paired well with the soba. I was very satisfied with the taste, but I wished the portion size was a bit bigger. Despite being busy during lunchtime, the male waiter serving in the dining area was very energetic and provided polite service, making the dining experience pleasant. Thank you for the meal.

I went to a restaurant called "Takumi" on the way from Shinjuku Gyoen to Yotsuya-sanchome Station, which serves "hegisoba" from the Uonuma region of Niigata Prefecture. Hegisoba is served in a container called "kataki (hegi)" and is made with cloth seaweed as a binder, which is a unique feature. I have been to two hegisoba restaurants, both located in the Shinjuku area: Kossan in Nishi-Shinjuku and Hegisoba Kon in the basement of Shinjuku Gyoen. The basement location had proper ventilation with the entrance open, counter seating, air purifiers, and acrylic dividers on table seats. The staff were very polite and attentive. The hegisoba alone costs 780 yen, while the set with a mini rice bowl costs 1,480 yen. The set includes a choice of five rice bowl options. If you want to enjoy hegisoba to the fullest, they offer servings for 1-2 people up to 5-6 people, with the largest serving priced at 4,680 yen. I ordered the hegisoba and mini rice bowl set (1,480 yen) with tempura rice bowl. The tempura consisted of shrimp, eggplant, and pumpkin, served in a small portion. The hegisoba had a unique flavor, possibly influenced by the cloth seaweed. It was refreshing and delicious, served chilled. I finished the meal in 10 minutes, which was a bit quick for a 1,500 yen lunch. The spacious seating and COVID-19 measures in place made me feel comfortable. I would like to visit again in the evening.

Everything was delicious! The dipping sauces had a variety of options and were fun to try. The portion sizes were generous and everything sparkled. I also had a delicious sake called "Umako" from a sake brewery in Sado, but I forgot to take a picture. I tried various other dishes as well, such as smoked herring with mascarpone, braised pork, ginkgo nuts, a dish with tonkatsu on rice, assorted sashimi, and pickles.

I ordered miso dengaku, lotus root mochi (with yurine sauce), and hegi soba with nori. Everything was very delicious, and I once again realized the goodness of Japanese food. I want to come back to eat again. The miso dengaku had soba seeds as a delicious accent. The lotus root mochi was chewy and warm, and the sweetness of the red bean paste was just right. The hegi soba was enough for 1-1.5 people, but it went down smoothly and by the end, I felt satisfied and full after just one bowl. Ordering three dishes cost 3000 yen, which may be a bit expensive for a casual visit, but the staff were warm and I would like to go back when I want to refresh myself.

I visited for the first time. The interior of the restaurant has a chic atmosphere with jazz music playing. I came to try the soba noodles made with funori. The dishes were all fresh and delicious. They also have local Niigata craft beer. The sashimi was very tasty but the portion was a bit small. The Torio-age dish allows you to choose from various toppings like green onions, natto, and miso, which is fun. The hegi soba noodles were as delicious as I had hoped for, it was amazing. The only downside was that the restaurant was quite noisy, especially with a banquet party in the tatami room. I hope to visit when there are no large groups next time. Thank you for the meal.

A soba restaurant open until late at night. You can enjoy it like a izakaya. The soba noodles have a nice firm texture and a satisfying chewiness. They also offer seasonal dishes like sashimi and appetizers. The tempura of maitake mushrooms is highly recommended.

This is the first time trying their cold soba noodles. I ordered one to two servings of soba noodles and fried tofu. The soba noodles were perfect with the cold dipping sauce, just the right amount and great for a hot day. The fried tofu had a rich dashi flavor, showing that it was made by a soba restaurant. It was delicious.

If you eat Hegi soba, you won't be able to eat regular zaru soba anymore. The soba has a really firm texture and is very delicious. Wasabi comes with it, but if you also order karashi, it will be served so I recommend trying it. The dipping duck soup is also delicious.

One week ago, I made a net reservation through Tabelog and visited the restaurant on Friday at 8:00 PM. Here is what we ordered and the total cost: - Otoshi (appetizer) x2: 400 yen each - Plum wine: 800 yen - Mega Highball: 1400 yen - Sunshine cocktail: 700 yen - Spring cabbage and ginkgo tempura: 840 yen - Hand-shaken buckwheat soba for 1-2 people: 1560 yen - Buckwheat croquette: 680 yen - Tsukune (chicken meatballs): 880 yen - Persimmon with white miso dressing: 490 yen - Assorted sashimi: 1200 yen The total came to 9350 yen. While the sashimi platter was recommended, it was not that impressive. The menu variety was to my liking, but overall, the flavors were on the strong side, which I found challenging as a drinker. However, it was within an acceptable range. The buckwheat croquette had a unique texture and a simple taste that I loved. The famous hand-shaken soba was delicious, but I wondered if it was a bit overcooked to compensate for something. The white miso dressing was not my preferred type, with a high sesame content. Despite having many staff members, their attentiveness was somewhat mysterious. The restaurant had a Tabelog rating of 3.38 as of October 2019, which seems reasonable. I don't think I'll be visiting again.

Today I had a drinking party in Tokyo at a Niigata cuisine restaurant in Yotsuya Sanchome. As a resident of Niigata, I was very curious about what would be served. First, salad, sashimi, and "noppé" were served. The "noppé" had a slightly stronger flavor than usual, probably adjusted for Tokyo tastes. Next, we had "aburage" from Tono, which was a bit oily - perhaps because it was fried again, whereas in the local area it is usually grilled. To offset the oiliness, it was served with a large amount of green onions. Then came tempura of udo and "hegisoba". The "hegisoba" seemed to be adjusted for Tokyo tastes as it lacked the characteristic firmness of buckwheat noodles from Niigata. It was an interesting experience to enjoy Niigata cuisine in Tokyo, and we had a lively conversation throughout the day.

This is an izakaya located right near Yotsuya-Sanchome Station, offering a variety of Niigata's local dishes. Although I have never been to Niigata, the menu here seems quite authentic and extensive. Their specialty seems to be hegi soba. They also have a wide selection of fish dishes, meat dishes, and even the giant Atago tofu from Tochio. Since I arrived late and was dining alone, I only ordered the hegi soba and a bottle of Yonetsuru sake, along with a side of grilled miso with a shamoji. The portion of hegi soba for one person was quite generous, so I didn't order anything else. I really wanted to try the giant Atago tofu... maybe next time. Hegi soba is buckwheat noodles mixed with seaweed, with a smooth texture and a unique aroma different from regular soba. It was my first time trying it, and it was delicious. I think it would also taste great with warm soba instead of dipping it in the soba broth. However, the portion size was quite large even for one person, so if you're planning to have drinks and other dishes, it's probably best to share with a few people.

I had dinner in the neighborhood tonight at a soba restaurant called "Takumi". When it comes to soba, it is a local dish from the area around Ogiya in Niigata. There are a few restaurants in Tokyo that serve this regional specialty, and this restaurant is one of them. Even though they specialize in soba, their main branch is in Tokyo. So they boldly advertise as "Tokyo Soba" without lying in their business approach. It's a hidden gem located in the basement of an inconspicuous building, yet surprisingly popular. Today, only counter seats were available, showing how busy they are. I ordered a drink and started with a white fish and avocado tartare as a snack. The chewy texture of the white fish complemented the creamy avocado, enhancing each other's flavors. Next, I tried the Tochio fried tofu, another Niigata specialty. It consisted of thick fried tofu with green onions sandwiched inside. It was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, with a variety of fillings like green onions, natto, and miso. The combination of flavors and textures was a delightful treat. I also tried the soba seed croquette, which was a round ball with soba seeds mixed in. When I split it open, the crunchy texture of the soba seeds combined with the creamy taro inside, creating a unique and enjoyable experience. I then had the miso konjac, a simple yet flavorful dish of hot konjac with miso paste. The chewy texture of the konjac was satisfying, and the dish was full of umami. Finally, I ordered the signature soba noodles to finish off the meal. The soba noodles were meticulously prepared, washed in cold water, and served in a neat arrangement on a bamboo strainer. The noodles had a firm texture and a rich flavor, especially when dipped in the savory broth. Along with the soba, we also had tempura, including shrimp, onion, scallop, pumpkin, shishito pepper, and eggplant. Each piece was perfectly cooked and came in pairs, making the meal even more enjoyable. The restaurant was warm and cozy, which made the cold soba noodles taste even better. I will definitely be back again.
