I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet! As the title suggests, this is the ultimate cost-effective restaurant with Chinese noodles for ¥460 and 6 crispy dumplings for ¥230. I visited yesterday for the first time in a while, and the prices were still the same. It was cold yesterday, so I was definitely in the mood for ramen. I had some business in the Nishi-Shinjuku area for the first time since Odakyu Department Store started construction, so I headed straight to Hikari-san without hesitation. Just past the 11 am opening, a bit early for lunch. I thought it might be more relaxing that way, but half of the seats were already taken. I bought my meal ticket at the ticket machine. This time, I got the Chashu noodles and crispy dumplings. The crispy dumplings here are called "Crispy Dumplings" and yes, they are 6 for ¥230 as in the title. The Chashu noodles are ¥730 (so cheap!) so I got change for ¥1,000!! I placed the meal ticket on the counter in front of the seat and said, "I'll have this, please." The owner glanced at us, but focused on cooking. There are only 10 counter seats (one seat reduced due to the pandemic, with wider spacing for single use), and the owner cooks alone, so he can't afford to be friendly. Despite having only 10 seats, there are 3 types of ramen: soy sauce, miso, and salt, as well as tantanmen and dandan noodles. There are also rice dishes like fried rice and Chinese bowl dishes, as well as crispy dumplings, boiled dumplings, and shumai. He cooks all of that alone. (There is another woman, possibly his wife or a part-time worker, but the owner is overwhelmingly busy.) Probably just before me, the previous customer entered the restaurant, so there was no food in front of anyone yet. Because of that, I waited for almost 10 minutes, but it was no problem. "Sorry to keep you waiting," said the owner a little apologetically, and first served the Chashu noodles. When I received it, I couldn't help but smile. A slightly small bowl with the restaurant's name on it, lined with 5 slices of Chashu, plenty of bamboo shoots, a boiled egg, and boiled spinach piled up. Amazing!! This is a lot for ¥730! The gentle soy sauce soup has a well-balanced saltiness based on chicken broth. The taste of the soup is worthy of the name "Chinese noodles." Delicious. The dumplings arrived 2-3 minutes later. The dumplings were neatly arranged on a plate, with a crispy surface. As the name "Crispy Dumplings" suggests, the surface was crispy. The size is a bit small, similar to the dumplings at "Gyoza no Manshu." When I worked in Nishi-Shinjuku, I used to have these dumplings with beer after work. The dim sum here, such as boiled dumplings and shumai, is also delicious. There's so much more I want to say but can't fit it all in. Nishi-Shinjuku, in the Nishi-Shinjuku area, is a fierce battleground for ramen, but as a Shinjuku gourmet, I recommend Hikari-san! I'm grateful that Hikari-san is still working hard at these prices despite the high cost of living. I'm grateful that the restaurant is still here, overcoming the pandemic. Thank you for the meal. I'll be back!

It's been a while since I visited. I suddenly remembered on my way home and decided to stop by. Thanks to the typhoon, there weren't many customers. The quiet master is still the same, looking good in a black cap. I started with the "Just One Drink Set" - beer, appetizer, gyoza, and ramen for a surprising 1,100 yen. In the midst of high prices, the cost performance is the best. The old-fashioned Chinese soba is light and just the right amount of salt. It's gentle on the stomach. I like to add a lot of pepper for extra kick. It was truly delicious. Thank you for the meal.

And then the ramen arrived. First, I tried the soup. The base soup is a clear soup centered around chicken bones. The soy sauce seasoning is also well-balanced. It gives off the impression of a delicious ramen with nothing particularly outstanding, but it has a stable taste that you could eat every day. There is no reliance on aromatic vegetables like ginger. The noodles are medium-thin with a light wave. The amount of kansui and hydration rate give a standard impression. Made by Fujikin Hikari. It's a typical noodle size used in ramen. Unlike the ramen served during lunchtime, this amount of noodles and size are easy to eat and good. The toppings include chashu, half a boiled egg, menma, spinach, naruto, and green onions. The chashu is made from boiled pork belly without any aggressive seasoning. The boiled egg is a nice touch. Considering the price, the lineup of toppings is perfect.

I visited a Chinese restaurant in Shinjuku, a 7-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station, on a holiday at 6:00 pm. There was no line, and the restaurant was 80% empty. The menu was not extensive, but it covered popular dishes. The restaurant operates on a pre-paid ticket system, and I was surprised by the affordable prices. I tried the following dishes: - Chinese Ramen (460 yen): A classic soy sauce ramen with toppings like char siu, bamboo shoots, fish cake, and egg. It wasn't exceptional, but it was a tasty and cost-effective choice. - Crispy Gyoza (230 yen): Six pieces of gyoza with a crispy texture. One piece was missing at first, but they quickly brought an extra one. It tasted better with vinegar and pepper, although soy sauce might be a good option too. - Draft Beer (410 yen): A refreshing choice for a summer evening. Other dishes like fried rice and side dishes were also delicious. Overall, I believe any dish you choose will provide satisfaction beyond the price. This restaurant is recommended for solo diners, casual gatherings, or those who prioritize cost-effectiveness. Thank you for the meal.

Established in 1953, this restaurant holds a special place in my heart as we are the same age. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. The simple flavors never get old. Remember to bring only 1000 yen bills as the vending machine only accepts them. During this season, the counter can get hot, so I ended up ordering the chilled noodles and the famous meat bun. Even with that, it didn't cost more than 1000 yen. It's a place where I always feel at home whenever I visit.

Visited on Saturday at 13:40. The counter was almost full. I chose the recommended wonton noodles from the ticket machine, sat at an empty counter seat, and placed the ticket on the table as instructed by the unfriendly manager. A few minutes later, the ramen that came out was the Chinese soba. It had a good soy sauce aroma, light soup, and the curly noodles had a nice texture. The wontons were slightly stuck together, but it added to the charm. There was a description of the origin of Tokyo's Chinese soba, and I enjoyed the traditional taste with a little extra twist.

I visited "Kourai" in Nishi-Shinjuku after a long time. Despite the low population density around due to the Obon holiday period, this restaurant is bustling with customers. I ordered ramen for 460 yen, fried rice for 330 yen, and an additional boiled egg for 150 yen. I remembered that when I visited before, the fried rice was served with a microwave beep, and this time was no different! The fried rice arrived with the microwave beep. Honestly, it's not very exciting, but the taste is decent. Next, the ramen came with a surprising 2.5 boiled eggs! However, the soup and noodles were excellent! The noodles seemed to be egg noodles, with a flavorful taste that I really liked. I mixed the abundance of eggs into the fried rice and enjoyed it, then slurped the ramen with the soup. I think next time I'll just stick to ordering the ramen. Thank you for the meal.

I passed by this restaurant before (quite drunk and stumbling haha) and it left a lasting impression on me. I suddenly felt like giving it a try, so I visited for the first time. The sign saying "One drink set, thank you for your hard work" caught my attention, so I had no doubts. I ordered a drink, a three-item appetizer platter, a plate of gyoza, and ramen for only 1100 yen, which is an amazing price. I ordered a draft beer, which would normally cost 410 yen. Even a sour drink is only 330 yen! It's really reasonable and surprising. The owner is a dandy and works diligently, with minimal interaction. Some people might be taken aback by this. The draft beer was ice cold and refreshing. The gyoza was crispy and delicious! Just note that there's no soy sauce for dipping, so use vinegar & chili oil, or pepper instead. Now, onto the ramen. It's soy sauce-based and topped with spinach, boiled egg, bamboo shoots, green onions, and chashu. It was piping hot and tasty! The only downside is that the noodles get soft over time, but that's just personal preference. I'm glad I stumbled upon this great restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

The shop is located in Nishi-Shinjuku, with only a counter inside. You buy a meal ticket at the entrance and hand it over at the counter. I had ramen for 460 yen and half-fried rice for 330 yen. The fried rice had ingredients like naruto, char siu, and green onions, and it was a bit moist type, but the flavor was a bit light for my taste. So, they kindly added some free pickles (2 kinds) on top for me. The ramen was soy sauce flavor with toppings like naruto, char siu, menma, and spinach. The spinach was cold, so I soaked it in the soup. The noodles were straight, and the char siu had a bit more fatty parts, but that might vary depending on the part served. The taste was okay. It's quite cheap to have ramen for 460 yen.

"Ordered Chuka soba for 460 yen and pork bun for 150 yen. Very cheap! And delicious! In the ramen industry where there are many Jiro-style and home-style ramen shops trying to differentiate themselves and pursue their own unique flavors, this shop continues to maintain its traditional taste. The refreshing soup comes with toppings like egg and naruto. You can enjoy changing the flavor by adding pepper or vinegar without getting tired of it. There is no background music in the shop, occasionally the radio plays. The quiet shop owner makes it easy to relax without feeling the need to be overly polite. Thank you for the meal!"

My friend, who is overweight due to eating very little, wanted to eat a pork bun, so we decided to visit this restaurant. However, when we entered, we found out that the pork buns were sold out, as well as the water gyoza. I was actually aiming for fried rice, but that was also sold out. Despite this, we decided to order ramen, pork bowl, chicken curry bowl, and crispy gyoza. The total came to only 1,620 yen, which was unbelievably cheap. The ramen was only 730 yen, which is a shockingly low price. The gyoza was crispy and delicious, with a unique crispy texture. The ramen was a traditional soy sauce flavor with chewy noodles. The pork bowl and chicken curry bowl were also flavorful and generously portioned. The prices were very reasonable, and the taste was excellent. We were impressed by the quality of the food, especially considering the low prices. We plan to visit again to try other menu items like wonton noodles, pork curry bowl, water gyoza, and pork buns.

A popular budget-friendly Chinese noodle shop located in a back alley in Nishi-Shinjuku. I visited after a long time. It was towards the end of lunchtime, so it was busy but I was able to sit at the counter without waiting. I entered the shop and bought a meal ticket from the vending machine right away. I had decided on the wonton noodles from the start. It's my favorite dish that I have ordered the most at this shop. I sat down and handed over my meal ticket. After a short wait, my order was ready. A bowl filled with plenty of soup and lots of toppings. First, the soup. It's the traditional Chinese noodle soup flavor with a delicious soy sauce taste. And the noodles. Simple but with a good texture and smoothness, it's a delicious Chinese noodle. The wontons. They have a delicate texture and the size and thickness are just right, making them my favorite wontons. The toppings included char siu, bamboo shoots, egg, and spinach. They are simple toppings that don't overpower the flavor of the Chinese noodles. The overall portion was just right, and I finished all the noodles and toppings. I even drank a lot of the soup. The quality for 650 yen is truly excellent value for money!

I visited a ramen shop in Nishi-Shinjuku after hearing that you can enjoy delicious ramen at a great cost during the Reiwa era, reminiscent of the Showa era. After 5 PM, they offer a set including ramen, gyoza, and a snack trio for only 1,100 yen! I had to order this set. The ramen alone is priced at 460 yen, which is also very cheap. First, the snack trio and a draft beer were served. The crispy gyoza had a nice texture, and just as I finished my beer, the ramen arrived. The simple soup was incredibly delicious. The satisfaction I felt at this price point was amazing. This shop, which was established in 1953, has been loved for many years, and it's easy to see why.

This is the only place in Tokyo where you can get a bowl of Chinese noodles for 460 yen and receive change back from a 500 yen coin! There are no other similar shops in the area. This shop is the only one that can create such a traditional taste and cost performance in this location! The clear soup and curly noodles are recommended. The cost performance is top-notch. Other set meals are also worth trying at an affordable price.

Ramen 460 yen, Chashu Noodles 730 yen. It's a miracle to find ramen for 460 yen in this area, and the Chashu noodles are also a great deal. The noodles are nostalgic and soft, but not too stretchy, so even if you order them firm, they won't change much. The soup has a lot of oil, so I couldn't really taste the broth on my palate. The Chashu is tender and there are both thinly sliced and slightly thicker pieces, which is enjoyable. The spinach seems frozen, and there's a boiled egg for protein intake. Considering the price, it's worth it! I wish I could try the miso ramen or tantanmen, but since it's not in my neighborhood, I may not have the chance. It's a grateful place for the corporate warriors working nearby, isn't it?

Cheap and delicious as always!! It's been about 4 years since my last visit. I used to come here often! The prices are still low, but they have increased slightly. However, I was shocked to find that in the heart of Tokyo, the Chinese noodles are only 460 yen!! And they are delicious. They taste better than other places around here! I ordered the Char Siu Ramen with Gyoza set for 730 yen + 350 yen - so cheap! Still delicious as ever. The soy sauce soup is really tasty. The Gyoza is also delicious. Thank you for the meal. I will be back soon!

■ Visited "Chuka Soba Korai Nishishinjuku" for the first time. The restaurant is located a 4-minute walk from Nishi-Shinjuku Station and about a 5-minute walk from Seibu-Shinjuku Station. I arrived around 11:40 am on a weekday and found the place packed, with one person waiting outside. I queued up as the second person in line. After a 5-10 minute wait, a seat opened up at the counter. While waiting, I purchased meal tickets for "Chuka Soba, Wan Chahan, and Butaman." Even with ordering three items, the total came to only 940 yen, which seems quite affordable. The breakdown was 460 yen for Chuka Soba, 330 yen for Wan Chahan, and 150 yen for Butaman. It's a wallet-friendly place you'd want to visit regularly. Since Butaman was labeled as a specialty, I decided to try it out. ■ Tasted "Chuka Soba & Wan Chahan & Butaman." About 5 minutes after being seated, the Chuka Soba, Wan Chahan, and Butaman arrived. The Wan Chahan was served in a teacup. I started with the Chuka Soba, which had a gentle soy sauce flavor base in a chicken broth. The noodles were medium-thin curly noodles with a chewy texture. The toppings included chashu, spinach, menma, naruto, and a boiled egg. While not extravagant, they all contributed to a well-balanced and classic Chuka Soba. The Wan Chahan had a moist texture and provided a satisfying eating experience. The Butaman, a thick-skinned steamed bun with a hearty meat filling, was enjoyed as is and with some chili oil for variation. Overall, the dishes had comforting and satisfying flavors. And the fact that all this cost only 940 yen is truly a great deal. I thoroughly enjoyed the "Chuka Soba & Wan Chahan & Butaman." Next time, I look forward to trying the Wonton Noodles and Teacup Curry. Thank you for the delicious meal! Arrived at 12:45. 90% full. Cash only at the ticket machine. Ordered Chinese noodles for 460 yen and fried dumplings for 230 yen, totaling 690 yen. Surprised by the price of the Chinese noodles at 460 yen. Wondering how they can offer such low prices without being a chain store. Everyone around me is ordering the Chinese noodles. Are they making a profit?... Got my food in just over 5 minutes. It's packed with ingredients. There's more spinach than I expected. The noodles are also plentiful. Amazing. The soup is piping hot. It doesn't cool down easily with a lot of oil. The taste is on the refreshing side. The dumplings are crispy as the name suggests. I applaud their operation that surpasses chain stores. 100% full satisfaction.

Ramen for 460 yen...?! Wonton noodles for 650 yen?! The cheapest ramen shop in Shinjuku is here, a long-established shop founded in 1953 in Nishi-Shinjuku. Everything is so cheap that it's really worrisome, haha. I tried the wonton noodles and the famous pork bun. First, the wonton noodles! The topping volume for 650 yen is amazing. There are 5 wontons, along with spinach, char siu, menma, boiled egg, and naruto. The nostalgic Chinese-style soup is heartwarming. The firm noodles make this ramen delicious. And the pork bun! It's packed with ingredients and fluffy, definitely not the quality of a 150 yen bun. It's so warm and delicious. Why did I overlook this place until now? I should have come sooner! I'm completely satisfied! Thank you for the meal!

Jajangmyeon with roasted pork rice bowl! The typhoon has passed and the afternoon is starting to get hot. My boss invited me to lunch and I recommended this place. I ordered Jajangmyeon because it's hot, but the amount of noodles is extraordinary! I mixed the sauce, green onions, and cucumbers while struggling to finish it all! If I knew it was this much, I should have avoided the rice bowl. I'm so full now.

Business trip to Shinjuku. Looking for dinner on Tabelog, I found a restaurant that my senior colleague with back pain had visited nearby. I wanted to try their wonton noodles, but when I got to the ticket machine, it said "Wonton noodles sold out". I was already inside the restaurant and there were people behind me too! Feeling rushed, I ended up ordering the green onion ramen for 650 yen. I regretted not getting the tanmen instead. After about 5 minutes, my bowl arrived. The clear soy sauce broth was refreshing and easy to drink. The toppings included crunchy green onions, chashu, menma, boiled egg, and rare spinach. The medium-thick noodles were smooth and delicious. Although I couldn't try the wonton noodles, it was a good value and tasty ramen shop.
