Meiji Shrine is located near Harajuku in Tokyo. Within the shrine grounds, there is a facility facing Harajuku Station that offers a variety of services such as restaurants, souvenir shops, party venues, and wedding halls. On the first floor of this facility, there is a food court with a bright and spacious interior, including table seating, counter seating, and outdoor terrace seating. The menu offers a wide variety of options such as soba, udon, ramen, curry, and sweets. I tried the ramen and the Meiji Shrine's famous sake manju. In terms of taste, I found the ramen to be similar to store-bought fresh or frozen ramen, with a reliable and familiar flavor. However, eating ramen at a power spot like Meiji Shrine gave it a special feeling. The soy sauce-based broth had a hint of sweetness and a slightly oily but smooth texture, with medium-thick noodles and generous toppings like thick menma and tender chashu. The sake manju was outstanding, with a strong sake lees flavor followed by a sweet red bean paste filling and a chewy skin. It's non-alcoholic, priced at 200 yen per piece. I recommend stopping by when visiting the shrine!

I avoided the crowded Harajuku Station area and headed to the Meiji Jingu area. It took less than 10 minutes to arrive from the entrance. The restaurant was separated from the food court area, so I chose the restaurant and entered. There were families, groups of people who seemed to be coming from a wedding, and solo diners, among others. The bright interior with sunlight coming in had a relaxed atmosphere that seemed to appeal to everyone. I chose curry from the Western-style menu. It matched the atmosphere of the restaurant and made the meal even more delicious.

I had a pasta lunch on the terrace seat. I chose seafood pasta, but the seafood was a bit salty for me, a Kansai person. The dressing for the salad and the soup were very delicious. I enjoyed a good time eating while looking at the greenery of Meiji Shrine.

Director Fujisaki Shinichi of BODYPITKYOTO here. Visited Meiji Shrine for the first time in years. Changed plans last minute to pay my respects at the shrine. So many visitors! I'm sure Emperor Meiji would be pleased. Had a light meal at the cafe inside Meiji Shrine. Couldn't decide between soft serve ice cream or soba, but ended up choosing soba. It was delicious. Thank you very much.

Visited for the third time. I went around 3 pm on a weekday. A cafe inside Meiji Shrine bustling with foreign tourists. The blend had a tangy and easy-to-drink taste, and the crispy pastry with just the right amount of sweetness in the red bean croissant was a perfect match. The food and drinks were not bad either. Ordered items (including tax): - Blend 320 yen - Cafe Latte 500 yen - Red Bean Croissant 320 yen - Mont Blanc 500 yen Suica payment

I stopped by for a break. They have various food options like a food court. You have to get your own water. The grass mochi with sweet red bean paste was not too sweet and had a nice chewy texture, very delicious. It was around 120 yen. They were sold out of rice cakes that day. There were many meal options available, so I would like to try a meal next time on a sunny day. I was also interested in the seasonal limited drink menu at the cafe.

I visited Meiji Shrine in the early afternoon on the third day of the New Year. The line for hatsumode (first shrine visit of the year) was long, and I waited for over 30 minutes before finally completing my visit. Afterward, I strolled through the spacious garden surrounded by giant trees and felt refreshed. For a break during my walk, I headed towards the "Forest Terrace" on the south side of the garden. The "Interaction Plaza" was bustling with families and couples who had finished their shrine visit, and various food stalls were set up. Inside the food court, tables had been removed, and it was standing room only. I secured a counter seat by the window and ordered a "draft beer" for 600 yen to quench my thirst, along with some "oden" for 700 yen. The eggs, konjac, fish cakes, daikon radish, satsuma-age, fried balls, and kelp in the oden were all soft and flavorful. I couldn't help but order another draft beer and ended up feeling pleasantly tipsy.

First visit, there is a cafe inside Meiji Shrine, and also a facility operated by Meiji Memorial Hall where weddings and banquets can be held. The seating style is for around 80 people for a social gathering, serving a kaiseki course meal (appetizer, soup, sashimi, grilled dish, simmered dish, main dish, rice, soup, pickles, dessert). The course seems pretty standard. This time it started at 6 pm and it was already dark before the event began, so it's better to arrive early during the day or in the summer since the venue is surrounded by trees.

I took a break on my way to the station after visiting a shrine. I hadn't eaten anything since morning because I was saving myself for the cafe. Feeling like I had reached my limit, I decided to go for something light and sweet at an affordable price, so I chose a yomogi daifuku for 200 yen. Sitting on the terrace in a rattan chair, I enjoyed the thick mochi skin wrapped around the perfectly sweet red bean paste. It was just what I needed to satisfy my sugar cravings. The sound of cicadas and the green surroundings helped me relax before heading to the event. Thank you for the treat!

You can take a leisurely walk and enjoy a beer garden. The atmosphere is nice and the fried chicken is okay, while the curry and yakisoba make good snacks. On weekends, there might be a wait for a table, but it's usually easy to find a seat early in the day or on weekdays. The place is airy and pleasant, with clean restrooms nearby.

It's spacious. The walk from Harajuku Station to the main shrine is long. It feels far. However, it's amazing to see a beautiful forest in the middle of this city. Tokyo is not just full of buildings. I walked all the way to the main shrine. It's cold. Tokyo in February is quite chilly. After the walk, I got hungry. I gave up on the Yoyogi restaurant I had in mind for lunch and headed to the Forest Terrace inside the shrine. I chose curry. It's warm! The taste is probably medium spicy. It has a slightly instant-like feel, but for someone cold like me, it's a delicious warmth that seeps into the body. I feel energized now!

Today, I had a morning meeting with my favorite person at Harajuku Station. Since I hadn't eaten breakfast, we had breakfast at a cafe near Meiji Shrine. I had a Meiji green tea latte and a shrimp cutlet sandwich. While enjoying the nature of Meiji Shrine, a tanka poem came to mind. "Waiting under the shrine, for my beloved, thoughts of you, my dear princess, waiting for you." Waiting for someone you love is such a delightful time.

Family's last day in Kansai. On this day, we went to see the exhibition of Makoto Wada at Tokyo Opera City. I used to buy Weekly Bunshun for over 20 years, so I am very familiar with his work, and even if you are not, you must have seen his artwork somewhere. He is popular. I thought we could get same-day tickets, but it took quite a while to get inside. All the artwork at the exhibition can be photographed, which is great. Art should be for everyone. As Okamoto Taro said. After thoroughly enjoying the exhibition, we returned to our neighborhood and planned to have lunch at a decided hamburger joint, only to find out it was closed on holidays. So, we decided to visit Meiji Shrine, where we had a meal at a restaurant inside. Initially, we planned to eat at a more formal restaurant nearby, but the wait was too long. This place was more like a canteen in a mall. I ordered a tempura rice bowl, shared some fried chicken with my family, and my family had soy sauce ramen. The total cost was less than 2,000 yen. Unfortunately, the food was not delicious, as shown in the photos. It seemed like the ingredients were just put together without much effort in cooking. Whether it's privately owned or government-run, serving this kind of food in the solemn forest of Meiji Shrine is questionable. It was a rare disappointment. My family never says anything negative, so when I asked how it was, they simply said, "Well, it's okay. It tastes like old-fashioned soy sauce ramen." It was clear that it was not a response indicating that it was delicious. I regret this unfortunate choice.

Visit to Meiji Shrine. Despite being right next to Harajuku Station, the abundance of trees and tranquility is surprising. Bowing under the grand torii gate, I enter. The walls made of sake and wine barrels from sake breweries all over Japan are impressive. It seems that Shinto rituals and alcohol are closely connected. Now, onto the many sights. Meiji Shrine Inner Garden, a place that makes you forget the hustle and bustle of the big city. Passing by the Yakushutei Pavilion, I admire the beautiful garden. Walking through the grass, I reach the South Pond with surprisingly large koi fish. Continuing northwest through the iris field enveloped by a gentle forest, I arrive at a power spot!! "Kiyomasa's Well," where spring water gushes from the woods. It somehow soothes the soul. Enjoying the view of the azalea mountain, I take a break at a café. Now, onto the order: Matcha Latte 500 yen, Shibuya Original Beer 700 yen. Thoughts: Facing the huge torii gate right in front of Harajuku Station, with a forest beyond, it's a mysterious and beautiful sight. Enjoying a beer while gazing at it is pure bliss. This Shibuya Original Beer has a nice bitterness and is quite tasty. Thank you for the meal. Cheers♪ Now, time to shop at IKEA and then have a drink in Shinbashi!

My master and I went to Meiji Shrine. Despite being right near Harajuku Station, once you step inside, you can't hear the hustle and bustle of the surroundings at all, creating a solemn atmosphere. The Meiji Shrine grounds were so cool that it felt refreshing, even though it was hot outside. After paying our respects, we came here. I was hoping for a refreshing drink, but the one I wanted was sold out, so I settled for ginger ale. My master had a cherry blossom drink that was perfect for this season. We were able to relax and enjoy our time here.

After visiting Meiji Shrine, I came here because I was a little hungry. I ordered a mini soba for 350 yen, which was just the right amount. Compared to Kansai, the broth here is darker and richer. It's great to have it piping hot. Eating on the pleasant terrace surrounded by greenery makes it even more delicious. This is the perfect place to relax for a little while.

On a rainy holiday, I stopped by for lunch after visiting Meiji Jingu Shrine for the first time in a while. I ordered the chopped duck dipping soba with an additional steamed basket. The dish arrived in about five minutes, and while the soba was decent, the dipping sauce was extremely oily, to the point where it was the worst part of the meal. The oil clung to the soba, leaving a greasy residue on my lips. I couldn't taste the broth or the duck meat, and the aroma and texture of the soba were ruined. Additionally, they didn't provide soba water. Even though there were few customers due to the pandemic, the quality was unacceptable. Also, the location of the water was hard to find, hidden behind the dish drop-off area, which was quite inconvenient. It was just too disappointing.

I had about 30 minutes to spare, so I decided to have a light lunch at Meiji Shrine for the first time. I ordered the cheapest menu item, "Soy Sauce Ramen," and waited after buying my meal ticket. It wasn't too crowded, and soon my number was called. I didn't mind that the bowl was made of styrofoam, after all, it's a food court. The toppings were standard - char siu, bamboo shoots, green onions, and seaweed. As for the noodles... they were overcooked, or maybe they were reheated in hot water. And the soup... it seemed like they diluted a rich chicken broth with water. It was too diluted in my opinion. Despite being hungry, I managed to finish it, but I think instant ramen would have been tastier. I won't be visiting this place again.

I went to Meiji Jingu Shrine for a visit and then headed towards Tamaya for lunch, but unfortunately they were closed for the long weekend. I didn't let that bring me down and instead went to visit Togo Shrine in Harajuku. Afterwards, I decided to go back to Meiji Jingu Shrine for lunch. They have a food court there, so I ordered soba noodles. The soba noodles were okay, nothing too special, and they didn't offer soba broth. After returning the dishes, I enjoyed a large grilled dango with mitarashi sauce for dessert. It was a satisfying meal.
