無芸小食
Kanda Curry Master's Mugei Koshoku here. I visited the hamburger specialty store Matsuya Seiniku-ten~ Located even further from Suehirocho Station, towards Okachimachi Station, this is the northernmost of the stamp rally participating stores. I thought, is this still Kanda? But the address is in Soto-Kanda 5-chome. It is located along a side street called Esakidoori, two blocks east of Chuo Street. It is said to be called "Eisakame" taking one character from the three towns of "Kanda Eimachi," "Kanda Motosakumacho," and "Kanda Kamezumicho." In that sense, this area is definitely Kanda. Now, Matsuya Seiniku-ten. This is a hamburger specialty store run by the 5th generation of a long-established meat wholesaler founded in the Meiji era. The 5th generation owner continues to uphold the first generation's desire to "energize the Japanese with meat." Inside the store, there are 5 counter seats and 4 tables. The owner grilling the hamburgers and a female and male staff, a total of 3 people, were managing the place. I sat at the counter and ordered a draft beer (480 yen) for starters. It's Asahi draft beer in a glass, Maruefu. "Cheers to your hard work!" I toasted by myself! Since it's a hamburger specialty store, the hamburger set meal (1,580 yen) seems to be popular, but for the Kanda Curry Master mission, I ordered the Indian curry from the butcher (1,180 yen). While sipping on my Maruefu, I waited for the hamburger to finish grilling. The preparation of rice and curry began as the hamburger finished cooking. A round plate with black sides, rice in a perfect circle, and curry spread all over. Then, the hamburger with a mesh pattern on top of the rice. A side salad is served on a separate plate. I scooped up some curry with a spoon and took a bite. The curry is fruity and quite sweet. It brings a sweetness and richness from the chutney. Yet, it also comes with a spicy kick afterwards. It's a popular sweet and spicy combination. Since the hamburger is on top of the rice, I carefully cut it with a spoon so as not to disturb the rice. The surface is covered with a crispy crust, trapping the meat juices inside, making it juicy. Truly living up to being a hamburger specialty store. I enjoyed the Indian curry from the long-established butcher~♪
