The lunch katsu don was 920 yen, with 3 pieces of katsu. This time, I visited for the first time on a weekday afternoon, so I decided to try the lunch menu. However, the regular katsu don with 4 pieces is 960 yen (without salad), so it didn't feel like much of a deal. The taste, though, was really delicious. Even though it's tonkatsu, it wasn't too oily or too rich in flavor, just perfect. I often go to other tonkatsu restaurants, but this one is outstanding. It's recommended for takeout too, as the taste remains the same. The only downside this time was the temperature inside the restaurant, which was hotter than outside. I was sweating a lot while eating. I thought it was just me, but other customers were also sweating. I don't think I can go there in the middle of summer anymore.

The pork cutlet rice bowl is the best choice. The shrimp fry is not great, lacking in firmness and the tartar sauce is a bit weak. The salad is delicious and good value for money. In conclusion, three pork cutlets on top are enough, more than that is unnecessary. The restaurant is small, so it can get crowded during peak hours, but the turnover is good.

The food was delicious! The tartar sauce as a side dish was also tasty. Despite the name "Tarekatsu," the dish was flavorful even without the sauce. The katsu was thin and easy to eat. The refreshing pickled ginger on the table was also nice.

I had the 2-tiered sauce cutlet bowl. I have visited many shops in Nakano, but personally, I think this is the most delicious shop! The shop is located on the second floor a little off the main street, so you can eat without waiting even on weekends. The atmosphere of the shop is also very nice, so I recommend going here when you are undecided about dinner in Nakano.

This shop on the 2nd floor has mostly counter seats, but there are also table seats. During lunchtime, they offer slightly discounted menus. This time, I ordered the mixed rice bowl set. Wow! They have a commitment to their rice, and even though it's topped with sauce, it's not soggy at all. Thank you for the meal!

The restaurant mainly focuses on counter service. I ordered the tororo (grated yam) and fin katsu (breaded pork cutlet) donburi with a light and tender katsu. The batter had a nice flavor, and when I sprinkled some sansho (Japanese pepper) on top of the rice, it added a nice accent. The meal also came with miso soup and pickled Chinese cabbage.

Whenever I go, there is usually a decent line, especially during meal times on weekends. My favorite dish is the sauce cutlet. There are many solo diners here. Personally, I believe that restaurants with many solo diners are really delicious because solo diners wouldn't go out of their way to eat bad food. When dining alone, you definitely want to eat something delicious. Unfortunately, this time, the oil wasn't tasty. I am quite particular about oil quality, and I don't go to places that use bad oil for frying. Good oil makes fried food really delicious. This place usually has tasty oil that I like, but this time, it was different. I went at a weird time, so maybe they hadn't changed the oil yet after many people had eaten, or perhaps the oil quality changed... I usually get impressed by just one bite, but this time, the oil was off. I will avoid going at odd times in the future or maybe the oil quality changed. I'm not sure what to do next. I usually find it really delicious! So, I was a bit shocked. If it was just the timing, I would still want to go back, but if the quality has changed, I might not go again. This is just my personal opinion, so maybe it was just a one-time thing. But I can't imagine they would pre-make fried food... Anyway, it was different this time. In these times, I understand it's tough, but I wouldn't mind paying more for something delicious. I had the special assorted fillet, which costs around 1200 yen. This place was a favorite of mine, so I hope it was just a one-time thing.

It's my first visit on a holiday night. Located on the second floor just to the left after turning right before reaching "Broadway" on the arcade "Sanmall" in front of the north exit of JR Nakano Station. The interior is small with a clean counter seat. The menu mainly focuses on "Tarekatsu Don" as the name suggests, but I ordered the "Ebi Don" for 1,220 yen. The "Ebi Don" consists of shredded cabbage on top of rice, with 4 pieces of shrimp fry placed on top. The rice is covered with the sauce from the "Tarekatsu". While the shrimp fry looks impressive when seen together, each piece individually lacks impact in appearance and texture. However, the sauce and the rice with the shrimp fry are delicious with the taste of "Tarekatsu". The tartar sauce that came with it was also tasty, and there was more than expected.

I ordered a set with 2 pork cutlets and 1 shrimp fry, which cost around 1000 yen. They asked if I needed tartar sauce for the shrimp fry and provided it in a small dish. By registering on LINE, you can choose free services like extra rice or a hot spring egg (as of the posting date). The taste was good, with the sauce flavorful on the rice. The only downside was that the cutlets were thin and the shrimp fry seemed smaller than in the photos.

I visited the restaurant around 3:30 PM on August 22nd. There were 6 customers already seated in the small dining area with 7 counter seats and 2 tables for 2. The lunch menu included options like pork cutlet rice bowl set for 900 yen, assorted cutlet rice bowl set for 970 yen, two-tiered cutlet rice bowl set for 1,260 yen, fillet cutlet rice bowl set for 1,080 yen, and fillet cutlet assorted rice bowl set for 1,090 yen. I tried the assorted cutlet rice bowl set, which had 2 pieces of cutlet and 1 shrimp fry. The miso soup was good, and the salad with Japanese dressing was refreshing. The cutlet was thin and the sauce was soy-based, different from what I'm used to in my hometown. The shrimp fry was a bit thin, but the tartar sauce was generous. The cabbage pickle was unexpectedly delicious, providing a nice balance of flavors. Overall, the value for money was just okay due to the thin cutlet. Thank you for the meal!

It was delicious! I was craving for tonkatsu and found this place through a search. I ordered the two-tiered tonkatsu rice bowl set because I was really hungry. It was a simple tonkatsu rice bowl with just rice and tonkatsu, but the tonkatsu was soft and easy to eat. When I dug into the bowl, I found more tonkatsu underneath! It was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the miso soup, pickles, and salad that came with the set, which helped cleanse my palate. I finished everything quickly! There was already one stamp on the point card on the table, so I got one for myself before leaving. I will definitely come back again!

New Niigata Katsudon at Nakano Station North Exit, a 3-minute walk away, offers a set meal called "Aimori Don" for 970 yen. This chain restaurant opened about 5 years ago and is located on the 2nd floor of a building just to the right before the entrance to Nakano Broadway. I usually don't like Katsudon that isn't sealed with an egg, so I hadn't visited before, but I decided to try it today. I arrived around 1:30 pm and there were 3 customers ahead of me and 5 customers behind me. I ordered the Aimori Don, which comes with shrimp fry, and was asked by the staff if I wanted tartar sauce, to which I said yes. The food arrived on a tray in about 10 minutes, along with salad, miso soup, pickles, and a small dish of tartar sauce. The Aimori Don included shrimp fry and 2 pieces of pork cutlet, both of which were quite thin, about 2mm thick. The sauce was slightly sweet but not overpowering, and the shrimp fry had a good amount of meat and was quite satisfying. This might be the best Tare Katsudon I've had so far. Thank you for the meal!

I tried Katsu (pork cutlet bowl) for the first time in Niigata. The breadcrumbs were finely and thinly coated, making it very fragrant and crispy, with a rich taste of the meat. Additionally, the soy sauce-based sauce had a unique flavor that I found delicious. Next time, I want to try a Katsu bowl with 2 or 3 slices of meat, with extra rice.

One Sunday, I decided to enjoy a solo lunch and headed to Nakano. As I walked through Nakano Broadway and entered Shirasagi Street, I saw a sign for "Niigata Katsudon"! Oh, nice♪ Six months ago, I had a delicious "tarekatsu don" in Niigata and had been wanting to eat it in Tokyo too. *The review from that time is here (Tonkatsu Taro) ■ Niigata Katsudon Tarekatsu Nakano Store There are counter seats and small table seats in the cozy interior. I sat at the counter, ordered a draft beer and katsudon. ◆ Katsudon ¥880 A simple katsudon with freshly fried katsu dipped in a secret sauce and placed on freshly cooked rice. The Niigata style does not involve topping with egg or pouring sauce. Tarekatsu don is a local gourmet dish originating from Niigata. Try eating it with pink pickled ginger and mustard on the side. I immediately picked up a piece of katsu with chopsticks and took a bite... so delicious♪ This is it, just like the one I had in Niigata. The thinly sliced katsu, freshly fried, was crispy and the sweet and savory soy sauce-based sauce was deliciously flavorful. I drank beer while munching on the tarekatsu. There was "tarekatsu sansho powder" in front of me, so I sprinkled it on the katsu, making it even more delicious. The harmony of the firm Niigata rice and the sweet and salty sauce was amazing. I finished it eagerly, enjoying the sweet and salty taste of the sauce (seriously delicious♪). Now, with the memories of Niigata revived, let's go to another place for drinks. ★ For more details, visit the blog (Warai Buta 2) http://waraibuta2.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-4238.html ★ Updated the side blog (Folk Toys no Mori) https://folktoys.blog.fc2.com/

During my last visit, I didn't notice it, but apparently they offer a special large portion of rice. I decided to try the combination large portion of rice. When I saw the staff preparing the rice inside, it seemed like quite a lot of food. I wondered if I could finish it all. I started with the salad to settle my stomach and then tried a bite of the cutlet. It tasted great with the sauce. The rice was also delicious, and the sauce added a nice touch. What I appreciated the most was that the rice wasn't piping hot. It was just the right temperature to eat comfortably. With the cutlet, sauce, rice, and perfect temperature, I managed to finish it all. It was a delicious meal. Thank you ☺️

Vegetable katsu don for 880 yen. The vegetables included broccoli, baby corn, eggplant, pumpkin, and cherry tomatoes. I wish the sauce was stronger, I prefer it that way. It would be nice if they had extra sauce available on the table. The restaurant is very small!

The inside of the store seemed quite small, but when we visited around 9 pm, there were hardly any customers. The atmosphere of the store was calm and stylish, making it a comfortable place to be. I don't eat tonkatsu often, so I thought it was just delicious, but my companion was delighted and said it was the best tonkatsu they had ever eaten!

I visited during lunchtime. There is a lunch set that comes with a salad, making it a bit of a deal. I ordered the most popular dish, the Tare Katsu Don lunch for 850 yen (tax included). The rice portion was just right, not too much. The Tare Katsu was different from what I imagined, it was a light and easy-to-eat fried dish. The meat was thin and that was great. It seemed like it was fried for a short time, making it easy to eat. The salad was made with fresh vegetables and tasty dressing, which was nice. The pickles were finely chopped and had a salty taste, maybe it was daikon or turnip. The restaurant is located a few steps from the Broadway entrance on the second floor, with 8 counter seats and 2 tables for 2 people, so it's quite small. The interior was clean and tidy, with a calm atmosphere like a traditional Japanese restaurant. It seems like it could turn into a sake bar at night (probably not). Sitting at the counter, you can watch the owner or chef thinly spreading the meat continuously, ensuring just the right thickness. There were shichimi and sansho on the table for seasoning, which was fun to use while eating. The payment is made at the register near the entrance, and they accept Suica payment. It tends to get crowded after 12 pm, but it was quite good so I will visit again.

Vegetable sauce cutlet / ¥880
Sometimes I crave Niigata-style sauce cutlet. I have visited "Tonkatsu Taro," where it is said to have originated, and other restaurants serving "Niigata Katsudon," so there were no surprises. The vegetable sauce cutlet was reliably good. The baby corn was delicious.

Located inside Nakano Broadway. The restaurant is on the second floor, up the stairs. It is a small space with two table seats and the rest are counter seats. It is a well-known restaurant for its Niigata-style pork cutlet bowl. I ordered a set meal. The sweet soy-based sauce on the crispy coating is delicious, and the meat is high-quality pork that is easy to eat and very tasty. The rice is also fluffy and delicious. The service was polite and I was very impressed. I would like to order a rice bowl next time.
