Located near Tsukiji Station exit 2, "Ginza Ryokuhana-do" is a factory-direct store. The store in Higashi Ginza has been closed for relocation since April, so at the moment, only this store is open. I decided to stop by on my way back from exploring Tsukiji. It was a Saturday afternoon around 2 PM, and there were a steady flow of customers in this small, face-to-face shop. They had about 8 items in the showcase. They provided complimentary ice packs, plastic bags, and spoons. I purchased the following items:
- "Freshly Baked Vanilla Cream Puff (¥390)" - 4.0★★★★
- "Rich Custard Pudding (¥270)" - 4.0★★★★
- "Petit Financier 12 pieces (¥540)" - 3.5★★★☆
You could choose between freshly baked or to-go for the cream puffs, and I opted for freshly baked. They filled the cream right there, so I had to wait a bit before receiving it. The choux pastry was still warm, incredibly thin, crispy, and light. The cream had a strong vanilla scent and a fluffy texture, likely due to being warm. It was already delicious on its own, but having a warm cream puff was a first for me.
The custard pudding was smooth, rich, and had a velvety texture. Since it didn't have caramel, the vanilla flavor was prominent. It matched the quality of a certain specialty store, and the taste was unquestionably delicious. It was a bit small, but the price was reasonable, and I recommend ordering in advance.
The financiers were to be lightly toasted in a toaster as per the instructions on the bag. I bought a pack of 12, but it seemed like there were a few extra pieces. They were bite-sized, with heart-shaped ones being the main shape, along with a few rectangles and ovals. They had a dense and moist texture, with a strong aroma of butter and almonds. Despite their small size, the richness of the butter provided a satisfying experience.
All the items I purchased were delicious and became my favorites. I look forward to visiting again.
