On this day, I went for a walk towards Nakano Station♪ I was in the mood for some fish, so I decided to have lunch at this place during my break (*´ω`*) I was seated at a table and ordered: - Sea bream fry and fried chicken set meal The set meal came with 2 side dishes, pickles, and orange jelly, making it a very luxurious meal! The sea bream fry was cut into bite-sized pieces, making it easy to eat♪ It was nice to be able to dip it in soy sauce or tartar sauce for different flavors. The sauce was for the cabbage (*´ω`*) The sea bream fry was fluffy and crispy, very delicious☆彡 The fried chicken was lightly seasoned but crispy and juicy. It was great with lemon or tartar sauce♪ The side dishes were simmered hijiki seaweed and... unexpectedly, white meat fried chicken. Despite everything being fried, I didn't feel heavy and was able to enjoy it all♪ Thank you for the meal! By the way, I couldn't remember the name of the restaurant, and I couldn't find it on Tabelog's map search or even by searching "Nakano Station_sea bream fry and fried chicken set meal" on Google... I remembered the man at the next table saying "The silver cod is delicious here~" so I searched "Nakano Station_silver cod teriyaki" and found it! I tend to avoid teriyaki because it can be too sweet for me, but next time I go, I might try the silver cod teriyaki.

At the restaurant called Sakanaya Shu, located a 5-minute walk from Nakano Station North Exit in Tokyo, I ordered the new Sanma salt-grilled set meal for 1000 yen. I originally planned to visit a Japanese restaurant further away from the station, but it was unexpectedly closed when I arrived before 1:30 pm. So, I decided to go back towards the station and ended up at this favorite restaurant of mine. The staff informed me that they had fresh Sanma available, so I ordered that. It took about 15 minutes for the food to arrive. In addition to the salt-grilled Sanma, the set meal included chawanmushi, three small side dishes, pickles, and orange jelly. The Sanma was slender but clearly fresh, and the small dishes and chawanmushi were carefully prepared. There's something about eating freshly grilled fish that makes the rice taste even better. Thank you for the delicious meal!

At the izakaya restaurant called Shu located a 5-minute walk from Nakano Station North Exit in Tokyo, I had the eel rice bowl and chilled chicken plum dashi ramen set for 1000 yen. The restaurant is located in the Showa Shindo shopping street. I visited the restaurant because I was curious about the dish the customer next to me was eating when I visited 4 days ago. I arrived around 1:30 pm and there were 3 groups of customers (7 people) ahead of me. It took about 15 minutes for the food to arrive after ordering, as there was only one chef in the kitchen. In addition to the eel bowl and chilled ramen, the set included chawanmushi, simmered potatoes, bean sprout and cucumber salad, cabbage pickles, and orange jelly. The chilled ramen was topped with a large pickled plum, chicken, shredded shiso leaves, wood ear mushrooms, and sliced vinegar citrus. The broth had a delicious flavor of chicken and plum. The noodles were like medium-thin instant noodles, not overcooked, which was impressive. The eel bowl had one piece of eel with shredded egg and a little edamame, and it was simply delicious. The chawanmushi had chicken in it and the jelly dessert was surprisingly tasty, making me want more. Overall, it was delicious again today. Thank you for the meal!

This Japanese restaurant located in the Showa Shindo shopping street was a backup choice for me as my intended restaurant was closed. It had been 3 months since I last visited. I arrived at 1:30 pm and there were 3 groups of customers already there. It took about 15 minutes for the food to arrive after ordering, as there was only one chef in the kitchen. The set meal included 5 types of sashimi, chawanmushi, thick rolled omelette, stir-fried bean sprouts and cucumbers, mozuku seaweed vinegar, pickles, and orange jelly, all served in small portions but quite luxurious. The sashimi was fresh and had a nice texture, and the side dishes were also carefully prepared. I was very satisfied with the quality and cost of the meal. The chilled ramen and eel rice bowl set that the customer next to me was eating looked delicious, so I plan to come back soon. Thank you for the meal!

While wandering around Nakano wondering where to have lunch, I came across a restaurant that caught my eye. It had an atmosphere of a pub that takes pride in their food. I decided to go in. Despite its quiet exterior, the inside was almost full. I took a seat at the counter. When I looked at the menu, I saw they had a silver cod set meal, which I love, so I ordered it without hesitation. After a while, the dish arrived. The silver cod simmered in sauce was not as thick as I prefer, but when I tasted it, the flesh was firm and full of the delicious flavor of silver cod. The lightness of the sauce actually enhanced the natural deliciousness of the silver cod. The meal came with a variety of side dishes, making it feel like a great deal. It even came with a chawanmushi, making it a luxurious and affordable set meal. It was clear why the place was so crowded.

It's more like a restaurant than an izakaya. I visited at night a few years ago and the food was delicious, but this is my first time having lunch here. In the past, I had the impression that they didn't offer lunch. Maybe they started serving lunch due to the influence of the coronavirus pandemic. The lunch menu mainly consists of Japanese dishes like seafood bowls. I ordered the horse mackerel fry and sashimi set meal. It takes some time to prepare since it's not pre-made. The horse mackerel fry was smaller than I expected, but the side dishes were good. The sashimi set included four types of sashimi, three small side dishes, a small chawanmushi, and dessert. The sashimi was delicious. The chawanmushi, side dishes, and dessert were also tasty, but there was a slight fishy smell in the horse mackerel fry and the rice portion was small. Despite that, I was still quite satisfied. Thank you for the delicious lunch.

Today is a weekday holiday. After taking care of some business at the ward office, I came here. I had heard good things about this place on Facebook recently. Being the trendy person that I am, I was very interested. It seems that they used to only open at night before, but now they are also serving lunch due to the influence of the coronavirus. I took a seat at the counter and ordered the seafood bowl (1000 yen). The seafood bowl here is colorful with seafood and avocado scattered throughout. Not only the bowl, but also miso soup, a small side dish, a small chawanmushi, and orange jelly are included, which is a great deal! And each item is made with great care, so getting all of this for 1000 yen is amazing (laughs). The seafood was delicious, and I love seafood, so having avocado mixed in was just... how lucky can one be. I can't believe they have a menu item like this. Of course, the salmon and ikura were also seasoned well and tasted great. The jelly was refreshing and so tasty! It was a very hot day today, and I was debating whether to have ramen, but coming here was the right choice. The customers kept coming in one after another. I would like to come back at night sometime. Wow, this is exactly what they mean by a hidden gem, right? It was a happy lunch.

A 5-minute walk from Nakano Station North Exit in Tokyo, you can find "Shu," a restaurant known for its special seafood bowl priced at 1000 yen. Located in the Showa Shindo shopping street, this Japanese restaurant used to not offer lunch for a while, but luckily it was open when I passed by. With the ban on serving alcohol and the requirement to close by 8 pm during the state of emergency, restaurants have no choice but to focus on lunch service. It took about 15 minutes after ordering to receive my seafood bowl, as the kitchen was being handled by only one chef serving five other customers. Along with the seafood bowl and miso soup, the meal also included chawanmushi (savory egg custard), simmered hijiki seaweed, simmered daikon radish, pickled vegetables, and grape jelly, all in small portions but quite luxurious. The seafood bowl was topped with finely chopped salmon, tuna, octopus, avocado, and salmon roe, all well-seasoned and delicious. I added some vinegar halfway through and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The quality and value for money were excellent, and I will definitely be coming back. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I heard good things about this place from an acquaintance and decided to visit for lunch. The menu had an exciting lineup of dishes and the prices seemed surprisingly reasonable. The restaurant had a counter, tables, and private rooms. A friend recommended this restaurant to me, saying that the food is delicious, so I was looking forward to it. When I arrived at the restaurant, there was a strong smell of thinner due to construction work going on in the building next door. The interior of the restaurant was small, with only about 4 counter seats and 3 small tables. Despite the smell, we decided to order the recommended dish - shrimp and lotus root sandwich. We also ordered a half sashimi platter, grilled sea bream head, and squid and sea urchin salad. After a long wait and no sign of our food, we decided to cancel some of the dishes due to the persistent thinner smell and our tiredness from waiting. In the end, we paid over 6000 yen, which seemed a bit expensive. We were disappointed that we couldn't try the shrimp dish we wanted. Despite the experience, I would like to give this place another chance in the future. The staff even asked us if the thinner smell bothered us, and we apologized before leaving. It seemed like other customers had similar complaints, possibly due to the construction site next door. It was a disappointing visit, but I hope to return someday for a better experience.

In Nakano, I was feeling hungry... I wandered around looking for a place to eat, but many places were sold out or full. Finally, I stumbled upon this place that I had passed by a few times before... From the outside, the restaurant looked quite crowded and seemed promising. So, I decided to go in. When I announced my visit, they asked me to wait for a moment while they cleared a table. After a short wait, I was seated. The restaurant had counter seats, regular tables, and private rooms. The recommended menu items were written on a small blackboard. First, I ordered a drink: Sapporo Lager Red Label (650 yen) from the recommended blackboard. Then, I ordered some dishes: Rare parts of fresh tuna (1200 yen), which included the brain, cheek, eyeball meat, and jaw - a great deal with a variety of parts. Grilled ayu fish with salt (500 yen), deep-fried shrimp shinjo (600 yen) - the food was delicious, so I decided to keep the bottle. I also ordered a bottle of Kuro Kirishima shochu (3000 yen), rolled omelette (650 yen), and whole grilled conger eel. The staff was quite busy, with dishes and cleaning piling up. The restaurant had a calm, traditional Japanese izakaya atmosphere, and if it hadn't been so crowded, it would have been a great place to relax and enjoy drinks and food.

I got off at Nakano and revisited the restaurant. Today, it was not crowded probably because it was a weekday at 6:00 p.m. I was surprised that they remembered me even though it had been a while since my last visit. I immediately ordered a bottle of beer (Sapporo Black Label) and some appetizers were served along with it. The steamed egg custard appetizer was delicious! When I asked for recommendations, they suggested the female snow crab, blowfish, and ark shell. I like them all, but I ended up ordering the female snow crab and ark shell. The crab was beautifully prepared and tasted amazing! I felt like having some sake, so I ordered some rice wine. I ended up drinking too much. Thank you to the chef and staff for chatting with me even though I was a bit drunk. The ark shell was also delicious, but I was amazed by the beauty of the crab. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

The food was delicious. Especially the tempura was tasty. The prices are a bit high for an izakaya. They accept credit cards, but charging 500 yen for it is something I haven't heard of elsewhere.

Dinner the other day. The famous restaurant Oyakata-san in Nakano unfortunately closed down, so I decided to explore a new place in Nakano where I could enjoy fish. I visited this place located stylishly on Showa Shindo Street, which I had passed by hundreds of times before but never visited for some reason. Inside the restaurant, there were the chef and a senior male staff member preparing the dishes. The interior was a bit dimly lit with LCD TVs set up near the ceiling, giving it a somewhat outdated design. However, the cleanliness was well maintained, which was important. I sat at the counter seat where I could see the chef at work. I started with a draft beer. The appetizers served included kombu with roe, pressed sushi, candied kumquats, etc., which could be considered as a traditional Japanese appetizer platter. The quality of the dishes as appetizers was quite satisfying, and I should have gone with sake instead of beer. The steamed white fish was also delicious with a well-balanced broth flavor, although I would have preferred it fresh. I ordered a sashimi platter as an accompaniment to the alcohol. It included horse mackerel, tuna, flounder, squid, yellowtail, all prepared with care. The grilled black cod was thick and tasty. The chef probably has a solid background in Japanese cuisine, as the quality of the dishes served indicated. I also had a fresh orange sour and chilled sake, and the total bill of 4,750 yen was reasonable. I randomly stumbled upon this place, but it turned out to be a good find. The quality of the fish and the skilled cooking techniques make this restaurant quite rare in the Nakano area. The only downside is that smoking is allowed at the counter seats. This is something that depends on luck. A good restaurant worth revisiting. I look forward to trying their closing rice dish next time.
