There is a ramen shop inside Ueno Station, and at the entrance on the left, there is a ticket machine. I ordered the Tonkotsu Jangara ramen with half-boiled egg for 940 yen. You can choose the firmness of the noodles, and I chose normal. The noodles were thin, similar to typical tonkotsu ramen noodles, but slightly firm. Many people were ordering extra noodles. I enjoyed the ramen, adding pickled vegetables for extra flavor, and finished it all. The shop is located inside the station, so there are many solo diners, and the service is fast, making it convenient to visit during train waiting times. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal!

I went to see the ancient Mexico exhibition at the Tokyo National Museum and was surprised by the number of elderly people who blatantly cut in line. The museum staff said it's okay not to wait in line, so I guess there's nothing we can do about it. I felt irritated, but on the way back, I did some shopping in Ameyoko, had a light drink at a bar, and ended the day happily walking around the station area. However, I couldn't find a kobonshan, so I was a little disappointed. It was another hot day. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

I went to the restaurant on Monday at 9:00 pm. About half of the seats were taken. They use a ticket machine system, and you can choose the firmness of the noodles. I used to mainly go to the Harajuku branch during my student days and occasionally to the Akihabara branch, but this was my first time at the Ueno branch. The variety of ramen to choose from at the Ueno branch was a bit limited (no bonshan, kobonshan, etc.), but they had tsukemen and shoyu ramen. You hand over your ticket and inform them of the noodle firmness you prefer. This time, I chose "harigane" and waited at the table for about 3 minutes before it was served. The tonkotsu smell was mild, but there was a lot of oil. It might be good for those who like oil. The taste was a bit light, so I found it just right after adding the extra sauce for the extra noodles. You can order extra noodles at the table. I also ordered mentaiko rice as a side dish, and it was delicious. Personally, I would have liked a bit more seaweed. Overall, the service was good, and I was satisfied with the karashi takana on the table.

I have used this place many times. I used to frequent the Harajuku store a lot when I was a student, so being able to eat quickly at Ueno Station is the best! There is also an Ichiran outside the station, but it is always crowded with tourists and you have to go outside to eat, so Jangara is more convenient. Taste is important, but location is also important. The lady at the store was also very kind.

On my way home from work, I stopped by a ramen restaurant inside the Echute Ueno at Ueno station. Jangara Ramen is known for its ramen, and it was interesting to see it with the Tokyo name. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with soft noodles, which I have come to enjoy. The tonkotsu broth was light, and the Tokyo twist was intriguing. The restaurant wasn't too crowded, so I was able to relax. The portion of noodles was generous, so I didn't need to order extra.

I went to Jangara for the first time. The ramen was very easy to eat and delicious. I think I ordered the "all toppings" option. My daughter was sleeping but when I asked her if she wanted to eat ramen, she woke up immediately and ate it happily. They even have toys and children's ramen, which is wonderful! The children's ramen was soy sauce based. It's great to have a child-friendly restaurant. It was so delicious that I of course ordered an extra serving of noodles. Thank you for the meal. I want to come back again.

I transferred at Ueno Station and had lunch here. They have ticket machines with monitors. The cold water they provide is very refreshing. I chose the tonkotsu ramen and rice. The soup was lighter than it looked, which I liked. It was served at the perfect temperature for me, who prefers it piping hot. The noodles were thin and I asked for them to be firm, but they softened quickly. The rice had just the right texture. Customizing with takana and pickled ginger was a nice touch.

I stopped by the robust ramen shop inside Ueno Station after visiting the Dinosaur Exhibition in 2023. Since I had a light lunch, I opted for the shoyu ramen with chashu rice bowl set, choosing firm noodles. First of all, the customer service was very pleasant. It was uplifting. Furthermore, I received a free topping coupon when using the app. I'm not usually a fan of tonkotsu ramen, but this one was not too heavy and was delicious and light. If I had more room in my stomach, I would have wanted an extra serving of noodles. The chashu rice bowl had a rich meaty flavor and was topped generously with tender chashu. I felt it was great value for the price. Since it's conveniently located within the station, I plan to visit again. Thank you for the meal!

When transferring at Ueno Station, I always end up stopping by. The Hakata ramen here is light and easy to eat. You can choose the firmness of the noodles, and the firmest option, "powder drop," has a wheat aroma and is very delicious. They also have pickled ginger and mustard greens for flavor variation, and you can enjoy extra noodle servings as well.

This is a ramen shop located inside the station building called Ecute. It is a famous Kyushu ramen chain in Harajuku, known for its rich tonkotsu soup and thin noodles. Customers can choose the firmness of the noodles, and many prefer them firm or extra firm. Since I was with my child this time, I asked for the noodles to be cooked softer. The location near the zoo and museum may explain why they offer a kids' set! It includes a half bowl of ramen with a choice of tonkotsu or plain shoyu soup, two panda-shaped nori rice balls, a drink, and even a toy. I ordered the spicy miso ramen with plenty of pickled mustard greens and enjoyed it thoroughly!

This is my second visit. I had soy sauce marinated egg ramen and chashu rice bowl. The soy sauce ramen had thin noodles and a light taste. It was easy to eat and I finished it quickly. The chashu rice bowl had sweet and salty chashu that paired well with the sauce. I want to go back again.

On my way to Mito for a business trip, I stopped by Ueno Station's Ecute for lunch. I used to be into trying different ramen places back in the day, but I always felt like tonkotsu ramen tasted pretty similar overall, so I didn't really collect them. However, it had been about 30 years since I last tried ramen in Akihabara, so I decided to give it a go again. Since it was a ramen shop inside the station, I didn't want to nitpick, but it was a bit disappointing that only one ticket machine was working, causing some customers to hesitate when ordering. They actually had two machines, so if they only use one, it might be better to have the menu displayed outside to reduce the time customers spend deciding in front of the machine. Also, it was a bit disappointing that they were sold out of their signature flavored egg. Well, I guess it can't be helped since prices have been going up. When I took a bite of the noodles, I thought, "Oh, this tastes like Umakacchan." It's like instant ramen. It might be rude to say that (laughs) since I haven't had Umakacchan in about 10 years, my memory might be off, but it was just my first impression. I've been mainly eating modern ramen with low-temperature cooking and no artificial seasonings, so sometimes the smell of the chashu and menma bothers me. But considering it's under 1000 yen, it's not worth being too critical. Thanks for the meal.

Tokyo Tonkotsu Jangara All-in 1,400 yen Today, I'm on a business trip to Mito, so I decided to stop for some ramen during my transfer. This is Jangara located inside Ueno Station. It's been a while since I've had Jangara. I arrived at 12:19 and there was no wait. I ordered the all-in with seasoned egg, mentaiko, and pork slices. The food came out incredibly fast, only 2 minutes after ordering! As I slurped the soup, a wave of nostalgia hit me. The clear tonkotsu broth was just as delicious as I remembered. The thin noodles were plentiful and satisfying. The pork slices were melt-in-your-mouth tender, and I was glad I got the all-in option. I added the mentaiko halfway through, giving the broth an extra punch of flavor. While others around me were ordering extra noodles, I decided to stick to my plan and carefully paced myself, finishing the bowl with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and pickled ginger. Oops, I finished my meal so quickly that I have quite a bit of time before my train. There were many female customers as well, so this tonkotsu ramen seems to be a hit with everyone. Thank you for the meal!

When I go to the museum with my son, we tend to rely on this place. They are friendly to children and serve the food quickly. Although the noodles are thin, I have a sensitive tongue so I should ask for them to be cooked firm. I will continue to visit this place, so thank you in advance.

The pork bone soup was so thin and disappointing. I ordered the Jangara Ramen on my way home, but it tasted different from before. It used to have a richer pork bone flavor. I was disappointed with the thin pork bone soup.

About a quarter of a century ago, there was a famous ramen shop in Tokyo called "Kyushu Jangara" that led the tonkotsu ramen boom. I was a big fan back then and used to take the train to the Harajuku branch many times to eat there. This time, I found a branch at Ueno Station called "Tokyo Jangara," which is a collaboration between Kyushu Jangara and a JR-affiliated food company. The menu includes the classic "Jangara" ramen, but they also offer their own soy sauce and miso ramen. I went on a holiday around 12:30 pm and there were about ten people waiting ahead of me. I went with my child, who had the kids' set, and I ordered the "Tokyo Tonkotsu Jangara with Pork Belly" for 1140 yen. Later, we shared an extra noodle order (150 yen) between us. The ramen had a milky tonkotsu broth similar to Hakata ramen, but with mixed vegetables and chicken bones to reduce the pork bone smell. It was a bit lighter than expected, but quite oily and slightly sweet. The thin straight noodles were firm and had a great texture, but lacked a strong wheat flavor. The toppings included chashu, menma, wood ear mushrooms, green onions, and additional braised pork belly, which was flavorful and tender. The portion size was generous, especially with the extra noodles. Overall, it was a nostalgic bowl of ramen for me, but there are now many more delicious tonkotsu ramen options available.

When I first started to like ramen, I often visited Jangara Ramen in Harajuku. They had Jangara, Kobonshan, and Bonshan as their base options. I used to enjoy topping it with mentaiko. The thin noodles with low water content were my favorite. It was delicious, of course. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the "Tokyo Jangara @ Ueno ecute store" at Ueno Station. It was 3:00 pm and there were a few customers already there, with a few more coming in sporadically. It seems like being located inside the station attracts a decent amount of customers. I looked through the menu and was initially thinking of sticking to the basics, but the miso caught my eye. I decided to give it a try. I ordered the "Mugichan" for 890 yen with firm noodles. Mugichan is a ramen with barley miso. It arrived quickly! I took a sip of the soup and...wow! It's sweet! The sweetness hits your throat. It might be the third sweetest miso ramen I've had. For reference, the sweetest miso ramen is the "Oyaji" miso ramen, which is incredibly sweet and delicious. As for Mugichan, is the soup just sweet? No, not quite. As the temperature settled down, the saltiness started to come through. It's a sweetness that surpasses the saltiness. It's a miso ramen that doesn't make you crave rice or feel like adding any toppings like pickled vegetables or red ginger. As for the noodles, they were thin noodles, similar to regular ramen. The edges were sharp and angular. I ordered them firm, and they were cooked just right. I wonder how these noodles pair with miso ramen...well, I guess it's understandable that they wouldn't have special noodles for Mugichan since it's probably not a top seller. The cabbage in the toppings was boiled and nothing special. Overall, the barley miso Mugichan was too sweet and not very impressive. Rating: ★2.0. It's worth trying once, but I wouldn't go back. It's disappointing that the Jangara outlets in the station buildings are all mediocre. I love the older Jangara stores like the main branch. Thank you for the meal. March 2023.

This is a ramen restaurant located inside Ueno Station with good access. First, you buy a meal ticket and then they come to take your order at your seat. There are several types of ramen, but this time I tried the soy sauce ramen. When asked about the firmness of the noodles, I was unsure about the options available, like if there was a choice of normal firmness. The other staff member asked another customer, "Is normal firmness okay for the noodles?" so I wish they had asked me too. By the way, the noodles were thin!

On March 9th, after traveling solo in Tohoku for 3 days, I decided to stop at Ueno around 8:00 pm. I wanted to get a seat on the Tokaido Line to Yokohama, so I decided to get off at Ueno instead of going all the way to Tokyo. I wanted to watch WBC, so I looked for a place to eat at the station. I had already been to Taimeiken, so I chose this place. I ordered the "Tonkotsu Ramen Set" for 1140 yen. The noodles were firm. The soup looked mild and the toppings included chashu, green onions, chopped wood ear mushrooms, menma, and white sesame seeds. The soup was mild and seemed like it would be good even after finishing it. There was karashi takana and pickled ginger on the table, so I added some to my ramen. It's nice that karashi takana is free to add, you can even add it to the chashu rice bowl. The chashu rice bowl had finely sliced chashu, green onions, and chopped seaweed, all seasoned with a sweet sauce. It's a perfect side dish when you want something more than just noodles. It was a popular spot for people on their way home at this time, with many customers enjoying a drink and slurping their ramen. It was interesting to see that there were also quite a few solo female customers. Checking on Tabelog later, I saw that this place has quite good ratings.
