I had some errands in Ueno and didn't have a particular place in mind to eat, but I saw a sushi restaurant inside Ueno station that looked delicious so I decided to go in. Everything looked tasty, but I ordered the seafood bowl. The taste was delicious and the portion was quite generous. I was satisfied and full. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived around 11:00 and was able to enter without much of a wait. While I was deciding on my order, the dishes were prepared much faster than I expected, allowing me to enjoy them sooner. I tried the lunch set named after the restaurant itself (ate the Tekka roll) and everything was delicious.

Taking the train to the city. When I returned to Ueno Station, I had a sudden craving for sushi. Since it was inside the station, there were only counter seats available. Depending on the time, it can get really crowded, so I entered at a less busy time. They make the sushi right in front of you when you order. I usually order a set and then a few individual pieces. Everything was delicious.

After visiting the aquarium, I had a late lunch at this restaurant for the first time. I ordered the Fish Market Special from the lunch menu. It came with 13 pieces of sushi and miso soup. It didn't look exactly like the menu photo, but it was delicious and the portion size was just right. Having the chef prepare the sushi right in front of you is really nice. I think I'll try having lunch at a sushi restaurant in my neighborhood soon. Thank you for the meal.

Near Ueno Station Park Exit, there is a sushi restaurant. It tends to be crowded during lunchtime, even on weekdays, with many tourists lining up. However, when I went in the evening, I was able to get a seat without waiting. It's also comfortable to dine alone! The sushi was from Tsukiji, and the tuna and scallops were particularly fresh and delicious. The menu highlights the tuna, and now I understand why. All the other sushi was also tasty. Thank you for the meal!

- Restaurant Name: Maguro Ichidai Ekimae Ueno Store
- Location: Ueno Station
- Budget: 3000-4000 yen
- Ordered Menu: Chef's selection including shime saba, tai, hamachi, akagai, ikura, anago, chu-toro, ebi, uni, akami, and nori soup
- Visited around 7:00 PM on a weekday. Had some time to spare before a business trip to Fukushima, so visited alone. The restaurant is located inside the Ekimae, which is very convenient. There are over 10 seats at the counter, and it was almost full at that time. The customers varied from office workers to families. The chef's selection lineup was as listed in the menu. The tai and akami were particularly impressive. The tai was lightly marinated in kombu and had a subtle sweetness, while the akami had a good amount of fat and a nice melt-in-your-mouth texture. The prices were not particularly cheap, and the taste was not outstanding, but the convenience of being able to eat sushi inside the ticket gates is excellent. If you're ever in need inside the gates, give it a try! Thank you for the meal. I will come again.

I had breakfast at a restaurant on the 3rd floor inside JR Ueno Station in Tokyo. I ordered the breakfast set for 580 yen, which included grilled fish. The fish was mackerel. It was Saturday morning at 9:30 am, and the place quickly filled up with customers aiming for the breakfast hours until 10 am. I sat at the end of the counter and my meal arrived in about 3 minutes. The fish looked small at first, but with the addition of rolled omelette and grilled seaweed, it turned out to be just the right amount and tasted delicious. It would be great to have more affordable breakfast options like this at train stations across the country.

When you want to have a drink and fill your stomach a little more, noodles or sushi are the go-to choices. This night, I looked up what was available in Ueno and found a sushi place! I started with three pieces of white fish sushi and three pieces of tuna sushi, both delicious. And to finish, I ordered clam miso soup, which was filled with over 10 clams and had a delicious clam flavor. It was so good!

In early May. Arrived at Ueno at 9 am. Arrived a little early so decided to have breakfast. Went to Maguro Ichidai in Ecute Ueno Station for breakfast. The morning menu (until 10 am) only had grilled fish set meals, simmered fish set meals, Tekka Don, and Negitoro Don. Ordered the grilled fish set meal (580 yen). Today's grilled fish was "Sawara". The food came out quickly. In addition to the grilled fish, it came with rice, miso soup, side dishes, and seaweed. The grilled fish wasn't freshly grilled but still delicious as expected from a sushi restaurant. The miso soup was flavorful. The grilled fish was a bit small compared to the generous portion of rice, so I enjoyed the leftover rice with grated radish and seaweed. Having such a breakfast in the morning makes you feel very happy. Thank you for the meal.

Ueda Bank of Japan has announced that it will review its policies and continue the current status in the fight against deflation over the next year to a year and a half. Although I believe it is a reasonable decision, I can't help but feel a bit down when considering my personal financial situation. I took the train and transferred at Ueno, where I came across a restaurant inside the station that I had been curious about. I ordered an 800 yen Hakusan sake and a sashimi platter for 1300 yen, which included tuna, scallops, and yellowtail. I also had a 3-piece shellfish platter as a closer, which included ark shell, whelk, and scallops for 1100 yen. Overall, everyone - the staff, customers, and fish - seemed tired. The Hakusan sake was reliably delicious. The man at the next table, who also looked quite tired, ordered the "Banquet Set" for 1200 yen, which included a glass of draft beer or shochu, one appetizer, and 3 pieces of sushi. Surprisingly, the red fish simmered dish looked appetizing. Perhaps ordering just this set might be the best choice here. There are other things to critique, but I'll leave it at that. Spending 3300 yen to sit down and enjoy decent sushi or fish made me realize how luxurious it is in this country in the Reiwa era.

Tekkadan (with miso soup) for 750 yen. Visited on a holiday morning after 9 o'clock. Found a seat available and placed my order verbally. The dish was served on a large tray across the counter. It might be a bit challenging to pick it up. The portion looked a bit small, but the rice was a decent amount. Paid at the exit with the receipt. Payment can be made with cash, credit card, or transportation IC card.

On the way back from the dinosaur exhibition, the area around Ueno Park was crowded with people enjoying cherry blossom viewing. I gave up on having tea and headed to the train station. I saw a sign for a tuna sushi set at "Maguro Ichidai" and decided to stop by for a snack.

- Tuna Sushi Set: 1,200 yen
Includes akami (lean tuna), chutoro (medium fatty tuna), and otoro (fatty tuna).
-----------------------------------
Although the pieces were small, the tuna had a great taste. It was easy to enjoy the three pieces even at the counter seat. Sushi as a snack is a good idea! Just note that at the counter seat, you may need to sit with your legs slightly apart due to the seat structure, which could be a bit embarrassing if you're wearing a miniskirt.笑

The counter seats were so narrow and cramped that I couldn't sit straight, I had to sit almost sideways to eat! When I came a few years ago, it didn't feel this cramped. Did I gain too much weight and grow too big? (*´Д`*)

It was cold outside, so I looked for a place in Ueno Station. I tried the tuna and Tsukiji specialties, both of which were delicious. The eel was also tasty. The restaurant only had a counter, but it was clean and the staff were friendly, so I was satisfied. In addition to the side dishes in the drinking set, I also ordered yellowtail with daikon radish, which had a good flavor without being too strong. The draft beer was served in a traditional round glass, which I liked. The only downside was that the delicious Akita sake was not poured into the glass to the top. It would have been nice if they had filled it up a bit more. Next time, I might try going during the daytime.

There were about 3-4 people at around 8:00 in the morning using Tekkadon as breakfast. Most of them seemed to be salarymen, and many of them ordered the morning set meal with grilled fish. The tuna itself was delicious for this price, and the portion was just right. In terms of cost performance, it seems better to order the morning set. I would like to try the morning set next time.

Ueno Station's Ekiben sushi restaurant is small with only counter seats, but its early opening time is a strong point. It is operated by JR East Cross Station series, so JR is indeed extensive.
Purchased items (tax included):
- Morning bowl: Negitoro Don (730 yen) - Rating: 3.2
The toro was neither bad nor good, and it seemed like JR doesn't pay much attention to the quality of ingredients. The rice was cooked well, which was a positive point. The miso soup was light, without any unique characteristics of a sushi restaurant.
Due to the impact of the new coronavirus, the first-choice restaurant's opening hours in Ueno Station were delayed, leaving no morning options. While there was no ill intent, there were many points that made me feel uncomfortable... Overall, the impression of JR restaurants is somewhat mixed.

I was feeling a bit hungry and found a sushi restaurant inside the train station. I thought I would just have a light snack, but the portions were really small. The seating was cramped and low, and the counter was huge like Giant Baba. The sushi was dry and tasteless.

I had delicious tuna sushi at Ueno Station. It's amazing in Tokyo. This is K2FB, from the prefecture with the highest tuna landings in Japan. For a late breakfast, I went to Maguro Ichidai in Echika Ueno. It's a counter seat-only restaurant where the chef prepares and serves the sushi right in front of you. I had a 3-piece set of tuna (otoro, chutoro, akami) with thick, luxurious slices of tuna. And it only cost 1,200 yen, which is too good to be true. The seasonal fish were saba, kohada, and this day's special, madai. The freshness of the fish was evident in their taste. The quality of the fish at a station like this is unbelievable. It's kind of scary. With JR East Japan's food and beverage company running it, they are seriously committed to providing the highest quality at the best value. I highly recommend Maguro Ichidai in Tsukiji Fish Market.

I wanted to eat a set meal, but it was sold out early. I wish they would put up a notice at the store. Instead, I had the morning price Tekkadon. It was fresh, but the tuna lacked flavor. The egg was delicious, but I think it invaded too much into the space of the tuna.
