On December 16th, 2020, I revisited the night district of Akabane with a friend after two and a half months. The area was unusually quiet, possibly due to the government's request to avoid large gatherings. We decided to dine at a yakitori restaurant called "Kemuri" instead of a fancy steakhouse. We ordered various yakitori dishes and drinks, including cabbage, liver, thigh meat with green onion, skin, chicken tenderloin, okra, quail eggs, meatballs, chicken tail, heart, gizzard, breast meat, raw soy sauce, tomato, eggplant, shiitake mushrooms, shishito peppers, and salted fish roe. For drinks, my friend had hot water mixed with shochu and plum wine on the rocks, while I enjoyed Hoppy (a low-alcohol drink) with water and then switched to plum wine on the rocks. The total bill for 17 yakitori skewers, side dishes, and drinks was approximately 6,000 yen, which was within our budget of 3,000 yen per person. The restaurant operates on a 2-hour time limit system.
