【Kanda Curry Street Stamp Rally 2021 Part 1】Yes, it's time for the curry stamp rally in Kanda again this year. The event runs from September 1st to January 15th, a period of four and a half months. Even though it's already mid-October, I've been gradually visiting the participating restaurants since September, so I'll be sharing my experiences little by little. The first stop on this memorable journey is a restaurant located in a back alley in Iwamotocho called "Dashigohan." It's been two years since I last visited. The restaurant only serves lunch on weekdays, making it one of the more challenging stops on the stamp rally. Tako-san's restaurant is also participating in the stamp rally, but it was closed during the state of emergency, so I took advantage of this opportunity to visit! Upon arriving at the restaurant five minutes after opening, I found that there were already customers waiting for the stamp rally inside. The menu at this place can be a bit complex at first glance, so it's good to do some research beforehand. First, you choose the base rice: "Dashigohan," which is rice cooked with the restaurant's original dashi soy sauce base, or "Yakidashigohan," which is stir-fried fried rice-style rice with the original seasoning added, available in plain, curry flavor, or ketchup flavor. There's also "Ninja Yakidashigohan," which is Yakidashigohan with added seasoning and bonito flakes, available in plain, curry flavor, spicy curry flavor, or ketchup flavor. You can choose the amount of rice: small (150g, 50 yen off), regular (200g), large (300g, +100 yen), or special (400g, +200 yen). Next, you choose the egg: scrambled egg, onsen tamago, ajitama (+30 yen), or scrambled eggs (+30 yen). Finally, you choose the topping: chicken soboro, grilled pork, salted fried chicken, garlic soy sauce fried chicken, or the daily special. You can choose each component based on your preferences, but professionals consider the overall balance when combining them (no need for any comments!). This time, I chose "Ninja Yakidashigohan" in spicy curry flavor with grilled pork and scrambled eggs. The total came to 810 yen. The dish arrived with a nice aroma. The Yakidashigohan is more like fried rice than stir-fried rice, as it is cooked with dashi and then further fried. The spicy scent really stimulates the appetite. Enjoy the dish by placing the grilled pork, scrambled eggs, and garnishes on top of the Ninja Yakidashigohan. The gentle sweetness of the scrambled eggs and the rich flavor of the grilled pork complement the spicy rice. Additionally, you can pour the dashi from the bowl all at once for a spicy ochazuke. It's a good idea to do this towards the end as it will disappear quickly. I had a fantastic start to this year's stamp rally with this meal. By the way, there's also a special menu item called "Spicy Ninja Plus," so those seeking more excitement should definitely give it a try. Thank you for the delicious meal!
