Dashi Gohan [Spicy Curry Ninja (+3)] 2023 Curry 125th Restaurant 161st Meal on August 9, 2023. 3591st curry meal since 2017. #StampRally #010/142 stores - Spicy Curry Ninja +3 & Torisobaro 850 yen - Small rice -50 yen * Spiciness levels: +1 Mild, +2 Spicy, +3 Very Spicy I visited Dashi Gohan for the Kanda Curry Street Food Stamp Rally again this year. Since lunchtime on weekdays is the most challenging time to visit the restaurants, I prioritize those during my visits. The curry menu during the Stamp Rally features the Spicy Curry Ninja with a spiciness level indicated by a plus sign. Even though I didn't usually order extra spiciness in the past, having challenged the Ethiopian spiciness level up to 66 times in the past two years, I decided to order the +3 level, which is the spiciest. The set meal at Dashi Gohan always has a nice traditional feel. In the middle, there is a bowl of rice soaked in dashi broth, with the Spicy Curry Ninja on top. The side dishes include minced chicken and scrambled eggs, which reminds me of the chicken and egg rice bowl I used to admire in my childhood lunch boxes. I started by eating the dashi rice as it is, and then I tried the +3 level of spiciness, which was indeed very spicy! It felt like about 30 times the spiciness of Ethiopian food. For those with a decent tolerance for spiciness, this very spicy level is quite enjoyable. Next, I poured the side dishes and accompaniments over the rice and enjoyed a deeper flavor, savoring the texture of the minced chicken while thoroughly chewing to appreciate the taste of the dashi broth. Lastly, I placed the side dishes and accompaniments on top of the rice, added some dashi broth, and enjoyed it like a hitsumabushi dish. Each step added depth to the flavor of the dashi broth, making it a delightful set meal experience. It was a joyous occasion. #GoggleMask #AchaarIKEDA #DashiGohan #SpicyCurryNinja #KandaCurryStreetFoodStampRally

Located a little way from Akihabara Station towards Iwamotocho, there is a restaurant that specializes in fried rice called "dashigohan." The dish is a unique creation by the owner, with rice that is subtly flavored with dashi broth. This time, I tried the "yakidashigohan ninja curry flavor" (the menu name is interesting). The combination of the delicate dashi flavor with a hint of curry, like a ninja sneaking up on you, was delicious. There are various toppings to choose from, making it fun to mix and match or enjoy as is. I opted for scrambled eggs this time, but there were at least three types of eggs to choose from. Delicious and enjoyable dashigohan, with amazing value for money at around 700 yen.

I heard rumors about a shop that specializes in dashi gohan, so I decided to visit. It was a small shop, but I managed to find a seat and ordered the yaki dashi gohan plain with regular serving of 200g, topped with grilled pork and a soft-boiled egg. The rice had a subtle dashi aroma, slightly sweet and delicately flavored, which was very delicious. When paired with the sweet and savory grilled pork, it created a well-balanced meal that was very satisfying. However, 200g of rice was not enough for me since it was a very healthy lunch option. I should have ordered 300g next time. I really enjoyed it!

Today's menu: - Dashi rice: 670 yen - Small rice portion: 50 yen - Stir-fried eggs: 0 yen - Chicken soboro: 0 yen Total: 620 yen It's a weekday lunchtime in a small alley in Iwamotocho, with a small sign that's easy to miss. You can't see the kitchen from outside. The background music is traditional Japanese music. Previous reviews and the menu mentioned "wappa-meshi," but they currently serve "donburi," which is quite disappointing. First, let's try just the rice. It's cooked with dashi, giving it a moist and gentle flavor with a strong umami taste. Good rice is essential. Now, let's add the stir-fried eggs and chicken soboro. This is the complete dish! The slightly sweet scrambled eggs and juicy chicken soboro are delicious. There are also greens, chopped seaweed, bonito flakes, scallions, dried young sardines, ginger, and scallops, making it a well-rounded dish with options for flavor variations. Reasonable prices and tasty food make this a satisfying meal! Thank you for the meal!

"Dashi Gohan [Spicy Curry Ninja + (Plus)] 2022 CURRY 188th store 350th meal on September 14, 2022, marking the 3295th curry meal since 2017. This was my 51st stamp on the Kanda Curry Street Stamp Rally. The special menu for the Curry Grand Prix was the 'Spicy Curry Ninja + (Plus)' with a choice of spiciness level 5, topped with a soft-boiled egg and char siu (limited edition for the day) priced at 780 yen. The char siu was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and is said to be available about once a week. The spiciness level 5 was extremely hot, closer to a level 10 which the owner describes as being as spicy as Peyang Gekikara instant noodles. To be honest, level 5 was really spicy, like 25 times the spiciness of Ethiopian food."

Dashigohan is a restaurant that specializes in rice dishes cooked with broth. They have a dish called Ninja Yaki Dashigohan, which comes in curry flavor as well. It is a fried rice dish made with broth-infused rice. Despite being a small restaurant, it was fully packed, indicating its popularity. I ordered the Spicy Curry Ninja Yaki Dashigohan, which came with a choice of side dishes like scrambled eggs and grilled pork. It also came with soup, carrot salad, nori, and other condiments. The fried rice had a unique blend of curry and broth flavors. Personally, I believe that fried rice should have eggs as an essential ingredient, as it adds to the deliciousness. Although this dish had the eggs served separately, it still had a satisfying taste, considering its price. It might be different from traditional Chinese fried rice due to the absence of eggs in the rice, but it was still enjoyable and worth trying. It's understandable why this restaurant is popular, as the dish provided a refreshing twist on fried rice, thanks to the broth's umami flavor.

I visited Kanda Curry GP. I visited during the Obon period without knowing, so this was a revenge visit. It had been 2 years since my last visit, but despite it being a late lunch time, there were 2 people waiting outside. So, I had to wait quite a bit. I waited for about 20 minutes, and then waited another 15 minutes inside after entering. Last time I visited, it was early in the morning so I didn't notice, but the management seems quite poor. They didn't clear the plates even after other customers left. The grilled rice, scrambled eggs, and salt-fried chicken were all delicious with a gentle dashi flavor, but waiting for over 30 minutes during a late lunch time is a bit much. It might be tough that they only operate during weekday lunch hours. Thank you for the meal.

Nearby Company Lunch Series #182. I was feeling a bit late for lunch and wasn't sure where to go, but I decided to visit Dashi Gohan that I had seen a while back. The restaurant is located on the 1st floor of a building in a back alley across from the A4 exit of Iwamotocho Station, and it's a bit hard to find with only a small sign outside. Inside, the atmosphere is warm and cozy, with only a counter seating available. I arrived just before 2 pm, the last call time, and I was the only customer. There was one female staff member in the hall, and the service was decent. I ordered the Dashi Gohan (stir-fried eggs, spicy pork belly) for the day. The food arrived in about 3-4 minutes. There are two basic types of rice to choose from, and you can also choose various toppings. The Dashi Gohan had a subtle flavor, and I enjoyed eating the carrots in a small dish separately before mixing them into the rice bowl (laughs). The spicy pork belly had a nice kick to it, and the other condiments added good flavor, making it easy to eat with the soup and light. The atmosphere was calm and gentle, which was nice, but I wasn't sure if my way of eating was correct (laughs).

I visited a restaurant called "Dashigohan" in a back alley of Iwamoto-cho to try their specialty dish called "Yakidashi Gohan," which the owner has perfected over 35 years. I ordered the "Yakidashi Gohan with Prunes" with a large portion of 400g, along with "Scrambled Eggs" and "Chicken Soboro" topping. The process of cooking rice in broth is similar to making Japanese-style pilaf. Beforehand, I simulated my own version of the dish with chicken soboro, scrambled eggs, greens, garnishes, and chopped seaweed. I asked the staff to sprinkle some sansho pepper for added flavor, and enjoyed the soup as a palate cleanser. It was delicious!

In a quiet alley lined with office buildings and one-room apartments in Iwamoto-cho, there was a surprising little restaurant. Despite being located right near my workplace, I had never realized it was a dining establishment until now. It seems to have been open for a few years and has become quite popular. The interior is cramped, with a main counter seat along the wall. The space is so small that it can only accommodate around 7-8 people, giving it a cozy cafe-like feel. The menu mainly features rice dishes cooked with a light broth, not meant to be poured over the rice. Interestingly, the reviews mostly talk about the "Ninja Yakidashi Gohan," a curry rice dish (^_^;). Following suit, I ordered the "Ninja Yakidashi Gohan - Spicy Curry Flavor (810 yen) with extra rice (100 yen)." For side dishes, I requested seasoned eggs and soy sauce garlic fried chicken. The side dishes arrived first, along with soup, green onions, seaweed, and tea. Shortly after, the main dish of curry rice, seasoned eggs, and fried chicken was served. The curry rice was firm with a rich curry flavor throughout, resembling a refined dry curry. It was delicious. After enjoying some of it as is, I added seaweed, fried chicken, and seasoned eggs to enhance the flavors. While all the toppings were tasty, they were somewhat ordinary. However, due to the large portion of rice in the extra serving, having more variety in toppings could be a good addition. Despite the small space, the atmosphere of the restaurant is somewhat cozy and inviting, resembling a cafe. All the other customers were women. The staff were polite and pleasant. This place is recommended for when you don't want to eat something heavy and just want a quick and satisfying meal.

Spicy Ninja Plus with extra large portion, stir-fried egg, pork belly southern barbarian style curry. Stamp rally participating store, only available during weekday lunchtime. The hurdle for visiting is high. Went for lunch while teleworking. Choose the type and amount of rice, type of egg, and type of side dish in three stages. If you choose Japanese style, go for dashi rice. If you choose Western style, go for curry flavor. You can choose the curry flavor according to your mood. Chose the spicy ninja plus for a spicy kick. You can also choose the level of spiciness from 10 levels. Adding spiciness made the dish very spicy, although the original taste was not clear. The side dishes were delicious too. The regular portion is a refined size, so if you want a hearty meal, the extra large portion might be better. It seems like a place enjoyed by couples. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy. Next time, I want to try the basic dashi rice or grilled dashi rice. It was delicious.

Kanda Curry Master Mugonkoshoku is a restaurant that offers a dish called "dashigohan," which was developed through 35 years of exploring fried rice. The restaurant is located in a triangle area surrounded by Yasukuni Street and Kanda Heisei Street. It opened in April 2017 and offers a unique dish that can be customized in terms of rice choice, flavor intensity, and oil amount. The menu includes options like "dashigohan," "yakidashigohan," and "ninja yakidashigohan," with choices of eggs and toppings. I tried the "Spicy Ninja Plus" dish with a soft-boiled egg and grilled pork, and it was delicious. The meal also included soup, a vegetable side dish, and condiments. Overall, the experience was enjoyable and the dish was flavorful.

After conducting research on fried rice, I finally tried the Dashi fried rice with curry flavor and added spices, a special menu called Spicy Ninja Plus. It is a special menu from the Kanda Curry Grand Prix. The Dashi rice with curry flavor may be more delicate in taste compared to the strong flavor of curry. I initially ordered the regular curry flavor and then changed it to the Plus version after confirming the differences with the staff. It was just on the edge. The curry flavor intensifies with the Plus version. This is a must-try for curry enthusiasts. Ordering may seem confusing at first, but it's not difficult. First, choose the style of rice, then choose the style of egg that comes with it by default, and finally choose the toppings. I chose seasoned egg and the limited edition topping of black wagyu sukiyaki. The curry fried rice paired well with sukiyaki. The chef has been making fried rice for 35 years. The spiciness is moderate, and the curry flavor is well distributed throughout the fried rice. It may not be exceptionally unique, but it was a delicious fried rice with a mix of fluffy and moist textures. The seasoned egg was a good match for the Spicy Ninja. The seaweed and yam also complemented the curry flavor. Despite being a small restaurant in an alley, the quality is top-notch.

Participating in the Kanda Curry Street stamp rally. Visited after a long time on a work day. I was surprised to see curry-flavored yakimeshi on the menu! When I arrived a little before 1 pm, there were only 1-2 customers. It was comfortable and quiet at this time. The menu is now easier to understand. First, choose the level of yakimeshi: regular, yakidashi gohan, or ninja yakidashi gohan, with the flavor getting stronger in that order. Next, choose the type of egg: scrambled, onsen, ajitama (+30 yen), or scrambled eggs (+30 yen). Then, choose your toppings: minced chicken, salt karaage, yakibuta, or soy sauce karaage. The second topping is extra, but you can choose up to two. It seems they serve it in a bowl style now. The ginger, green onion, and seaweed are served separately so you can add them according to your preference. Mix in the onsen egg and enjoy the flavor change. The soup is meant to be drunk, not poured over the dish. The refined chicken broth was delicious. This time, I tried the curry-flavored yakidashi gohan (they also have plain and ketchup flavors). I added onsen egg and salt karaage toppings for 720 yen. Although I didn't opt for a small portion of rice, I managed to finish it. The flavor was rich, and it got spicier as I ate more. Apparently, they also have a menu item called "Spicy Ninja" at this time of year. It's said to be very spicy, but the staff mentioned that you can adjust the spiciness to a level that you can handle. I'll try that next time.

"Revisited on September 15th, the 15th day of the Kanda Curry Grand Prix stamp rally. The day after getting my second dose of the COVID vaccine, I attended a standing-room-only live event... so I decided to take a half day off the next day to rest and recover. However, there were a few important shops that I felt I had to visit at a time like this, and one of the top choices was this shop. Just like last year, this shop only operates during weekday lunch hours, making it a bit challenging to visit. It's also located away from the main work area in Kanda, with no alternative shops nearby... so I think it's a shop that many people would want to visit early on to secure their stamp. I arrived a bit early, about 10 minutes before the opening time of 11:30. Naturally, there was only one other person who entered the shop at the same time as me. I ordered the 'Ninja Yakidashi Gohan' with a 'Spicy Curry Flavor' topped with 'Flavored Egg' and 'Garlic Soy Sauce Karaage'. Also, learning from last year's experience, I requested a large portion of rice this time! About 5 minutes after ordering, a cold tea was served along with salad and pickles. Soon after, the rice and the two toppings arrived. I started with the salad, which was made of sliced carrots cooked just right to bring out their natural sweetness and tenderness. I had tried the 'Yakidashi Gohan Ninja' last year, but this year's version seemed to have leveled up with the addition of the 'Spicy Curry Flavor' I ordered, which gradually spread a spicy sensation on the tongue as I ate. The strong bonito broth base worked well to enhance the overall flavor. However, I personally prefer the rice to be a bit firmer. The 'Flavored Egg' was an additional 30 yen, and it was seasoned with a unique flavor that complemented the dish well. The karaage, infused with the shop's special broth, was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, making it a popular choice among customers. There was a bowl of broth placed on the opposite side of the tea, which could be poured over the leftover rice for a flavor change. It mellowed the spiciness and added a new dimension to the dish. I finished the meal with the pickles and green onions. Despite ordering a large portion of rice this time, I was only about 80% full, which was just right for me considering I had to go back to work in the afternoon. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. Thank you."

Visited the Kanda Curry Grand Prix stamp rally. I remember it being very delicious when I visited last year, but I couldn't make it there often. When I arrived at the restaurant at 12:50, they had already run out of toppings like salt fried chicken and garlic soy sauce fried chicken. I ordered the curry-flavored yakidashi rice. The toppings were chashu and Iberico salt-grilled with ponzu sauce, and it was delicious as expected. The green onions and ginger were a nice accent. The broth was also very tasty. The Iberico topping was refreshing despite being fatty, which was great. And the chashu was incredibly delicious, just the ideal taste. The only thing is, I should have come on an empty stomach. Going for seconds is not a good idea. Thank you for the meal.

【Kanda Curry Street Stamp Rally 2021 Part 1】Yes, it's time for the curry stamp rally in Kanda again this year. The event runs from September 1st to January 15th, a period of four and a half months. Even though it's already mid-October, I've been gradually visiting the participating restaurants since September, so I'll be sharing my experiences little by little. The first stop on this memorable journey is a restaurant located in a back alley in Iwamotocho called "Dashigohan." It's been two years since I last visited. The restaurant only serves lunch on weekdays, making it one of the more challenging stops on the stamp rally. Tako-san's restaurant is also participating in the stamp rally, but it was closed during the state of emergency, so I took advantage of this opportunity to visit! Upon arriving at the restaurant five minutes after opening, I found that there were already customers waiting for the stamp rally inside. The menu at this place can be a bit complex at first glance, so it's good to do some research beforehand. First, you choose the base rice: "Dashigohan," which is rice cooked with the restaurant's original dashi soy sauce base, or "Yakidashigohan," which is stir-fried fried rice-style rice with the original seasoning added, available in plain, curry flavor, or ketchup flavor. There's also "Ninja Yakidashigohan," which is Yakidashigohan with added seasoning and bonito flakes, available in plain, curry flavor, spicy curry flavor, or ketchup flavor. You can choose the amount of rice: small (150g, 50 yen off), regular (200g), large (300g, +100 yen), or special (400g, +200 yen). Next, you choose the egg: scrambled egg, onsen tamago, ajitama (+30 yen), or scrambled eggs (+30 yen). Finally, you choose the topping: chicken soboro, grilled pork, salted fried chicken, garlic soy sauce fried chicken, or the daily special. You can choose each component based on your preferences, but professionals consider the overall balance when combining them (no need for any comments!). This time, I chose "Ninja Yakidashigohan" in spicy curry flavor with grilled pork and scrambled eggs. The total came to 810 yen. The dish arrived with a nice aroma. The Yakidashigohan is more like fried rice than stir-fried rice, as it is cooked with dashi and then further fried. The spicy scent really stimulates the appetite. Enjoy the dish by placing the grilled pork, scrambled eggs, and garnishes on top of the Ninja Yakidashigohan. The gentle sweetness of the scrambled eggs and the rich flavor of the grilled pork complement the spicy rice. Additionally, you can pour the dashi from the bowl all at once for a spicy ochazuke. It's a good idea to do this towards the end as it will disappear quickly. I had a fantastic start to this year's stamp rally with this meal. By the way, there's also a special menu item called "Spicy Ninja Plus," so those seeking more excitement should definitely give it a try. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Kanda Curry Street Food Stamp Rally 2021 is starting again this year. I visited Dashigohan for my first stop since I was able to take a weekday off. I arrived almost right after they opened and was the fourth in line, but the seating is limited so it quickly filled up. This time, I ordered the Ninja Yakidashigohan's Spicy Curry Flavored Rice with Yakibuta (stir-fried pork) in a regular size (780 yen). The aroma during cooking was really nice. The curry-flavored rice was delicious!! It was completely integrated so the flavor of the rice stood out. The mild taste of the stir-fried egg went well with it. I chose Yakibuta, but I think the chicken soboro would have been a better match. The side dish was also tasty, and the condiments refreshed my palate. It's a new curry with a gentle flavor that feels good. It was delicious!!

I was really looking forward to trying this place after hearing several people recommend it as the best at the Kanda Curry Grand Prix. I entered the shop near closing time on a rainy day and asked if it was still okay to dine in. The staff kindly reassured me that it was fine, and I was greeted by a cozy and new interior. I ordered the "Yaki Dashi Gohan Ninja Curry with Stir-Fried Egg in a regular size." The dish was served in about 5 minutes, and it was like a bowl of rice with toppings that you mix together before eating. The rice had a delicious taste like fried rice without any ingredients, and the portion of the chicken was small but just right. I felt very happy and satisfied with the meal. The service was also pleasant. Thank you for the delicious meal and great experience.
