■Shop Introduction
Cure Maid Cafe is an old established maid cafe in Akihabara. I revisited after 15 years. This was my 2000th review on Tabelog, and I had decided beforehand that I wanted it to be about my sanctuary in Akihabara, a maid cafe. It used to be located in the Gachapon Kaikan building, but it has since moved to a location closer to the station and facing Chuo Street.
■Visited Time
Saturday 11:00 AM. I planned to just have tea and leave before it got crowded, so I arrived right at opening. There were only 3 groups of customers initially, but by 11:30 AM, about half of the seats were filled.
■Food and Drink and Impressions
Original Herb Tea "CURE HIBIS" - 550 yen
A deep-flavored red tea blend of rose hip, rooibos, chamomile, raspberry leaf, linden, passion flower, and marigold. It was nice to have a tea that I don't usually drink, especially when served by the maid. It was delightful to be served in a teapot. In the midst of many overpriced items, Cure Maid Cafe truly lives up to its long-standing reputation.
■Interior and Atmosphere
The atmosphere has not changed much since its previous location in Gachapon Kaikan. The classy interior, calm service, and menu resembling a regular cafe. The customers who gather here seem to appreciate this ambiance. There was a collaboration cafe with KEY, with original artwork displayed and BGM playing the theme songs from past series. Ahh, the nostalgia! I belong to the Kanon generation. In the past, they seemed to focus more on cake menus, but now they offer more hearty options targeted towards men, like the Kanazawa Champion Curry. Akihabara seems to have an abnormal number of ramen and curry shops, catering to the demand.
■Service and Hospitality
The maid's service was lovely, with no hint of rudeness. I discovered the "Supporter Card" system for the first time, where you can join for 3000 yen annually and receive 3000 yen worth of meal tickets plus additional benefits. What a great deal! I guess I have to join.
