"Before we knew it, the fishmongers had disappeared from the town." This is the story of Marutomi Shokudo. It continues, "The number of families cooking fish dishes at home has decreased, and there are no fishmongers to fulfill the desire for fish even a little bit... There are expensive and delicious shops, but the environment where you can enjoy a slightly delicious fish in your daily life has disappeared. In daily life, you could have a fish set meal for lunch, and enjoy grilled clams or sashimi with sake in the evening. Even if you're alone, just eating a meal is fine. Fathers can drink sake, while children can fill their stomachs with delicious fish and warm rice. This is the style that Marutomi Shokudo aims to provide, a new fishmonger in town! The original idea behind it is filled with a sense of support that you want to cheer for. I have had experiences with another shop in the same group called Marutomi Suisan in Ikebukuro West Exit. I have used it for drinks and also for lunch, but I haven't given it a very good evaluation. With that experience in mind, and also realizing something after ordering this time, I started with a slightly negative impression... "Sashimi set meal" (950 yen excluding tax) + "grated daikon" (100 yen/same) - as shown in the picture. Red snapper, yellowtail, king mackerel, large shrimp, and mackerel. I sat at the counter seat for one person on the far right, the seat closest to the kitchen. And in fact, when I actually ate it, I didn't feel any lack of freshness at all, rather I felt the freshness. The red snapper, for example, was of very high quality judging by the size of its scale pattern, and it had a taste that could easily fetch 400 to 500 yen per piece at a sushi restaurant. In other words, each slice of sashimi had that much value. The king mackerel also had a good flavor, almost like a winter yellowtail. The others were also excellent. The miso soup with clams was also good. Satisfied. Thank you for the meal. At first, when the sashimi came out of the refrigerated case, I was speechless. But surely, since my visit was right at lunchtime, it must have been prepared right before. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lively, with people coming and going for lunch non-stop. There is a restaurant near this one called "A Delicious Fish Restaurant," but when I ate there before, I felt the uniqueness of the fish parts, but had a slightly questionable impression about the freshness. They seemed to focus on the taste of the fish fat and seasoning, so I haven't been back since then, so I don't know the current situation, but considering the cost performance, the goodness of this restaurant may stand out even more. We tend to look at chain stores with a critical eye, but when it comes to fish, the passion for sourcing makes all the difference. While we don't want a store like "XYZ Suisan" that only picks up leftovers in Tsukiji, it can be troubling, but... (By Kyanatsushuku, 2019.12.25) (40 reviews/3.28)"
