I had cold tanuki soba for breakfast in Kanda Ogawamachi today. Despite it being mid-September, the heat shows no signs of letting up. I cooled down with the cold soba. I arrived at 7:20 am and there were 3 customers already there, with 2 more coming in after me. I ordered the tanuki soba and it was served in about 3 minutes. It came with fried tempura bits, green onions, and two pieces of naruto fish cake on top. I like to add some fresh seven-flavor chili pepper and occasionally some salt for extra flavor. The buckwheat noodles were cut irregularly and had a nice firm texture. As always, it was incredibly delicious. I finished off with some soba broth and extra chili pepper. I ordered the cold tanuki soba and it was served promptly. It came with tempura crumbs, green onions, and two pieces of naruto fish cake on top. Instead of wasabi, I decided to add extra spiciness with fresh red chili peppers. The soba noodles were cut irregularly and had a good texture since they were rinsed in cold water. The soba was really delicious, so I find myself coming back regularly for the taste. Lastly, I added soba broth and fresh red chili peppers to enjoy a spicy finish. It was a delicious meal. The soba noodles looked like a large portion, but I finished them all easily. I love soba broth, so having a soba broth pot on the table was great. I sipped on the soba broth while waiting for my meal. The tempura was crispy, but I thought it was slightly over-fried. This is a reasonably priced and delicious soba restaurant where you can leisurely enjoy tasty soba noodles.

I attended a food hygiene manager training near the Union Hall and had lunch at a nearby restaurant. I found a soba restaurant called "Sobaya" on Google Maps! It was close by, so I was able to go in without waiting since it was a little after 12:45. I ordered the curry set for 650 yen! I received a half-ticket and waited at my table. I was called in about a minute, very fast. Wakame seaweed was self-serve, with a pot on the table, but it was empty. I found another pot at the serving counter and took two servings. The broth was very dark but lacked saltiness and umami. Maybe my taste buds were too picky from going to another soba restaurant earlier in the day? The Wakame had no flavor, and the soba lacked the usual aroma. When I closed my eyes, I couldn't tell what I was eating. It was a disappointing lunch. On my way back, if Rokumonsoba was open, I would have gone there instead! Thank you for the meal!

I chose a cold menu because I wanted something cold. I was pleased that not only the dish but also the bowl was cold. Instead of wasabi, I added fresh red chili pepper. I added fried tempura bits and fish cake as toppings. The 100% buckwheat soba, which is the specialty here, had a great texture and flavor. I added chili oil halfway through to change up the taste and enjoyed a different kind of spiciness compared to wasabi. Towards the end, I diluted the dipping sauce with soba water and finished everything. I regret adding too much chili oil towards the end, as it took away from the deliciousness of the soba a bit. Nearby Company Lunch Series #216. Today, after finishing my rounds and returning near the office, I decided to have lunch at Sagatani, which I stumbled upon when I exited from a different exit than usual. The restaurant is located along Yasukuni Street near Exit A7 of Ogawamachi Station, and it was a bit hard to see inside. Inside, there were only counter seats with a wooden atmosphere. I visited around 2:30 pm, which was quite late for lunch, but there were still some customers inside. The staff consisted of one woman and one man in the kitchen. I ordered the Tempura Donburi Set (cold). The dish was ready in about 2-3 minutes. I initially wanted to order the Horse Mackerel Rice because I enjoyed it at another restaurant, but I decided to try something different this time as I love tempura, so I chose the tempura donburi set. The tempura was thicker than I expected, crispy as if freshly fried, and filled with vegetables without small shrimp inside. I also wondered if there was any difference between the restaurant names written in hiragana "Sagatani" and kanji "嵯峨谷."
