I used this restaurant for dinner in Ueno. It was a weekday evening and it wasn't crowded. They had a self-service all-you-can-drink option with beer, sake, shochu, and more, which was enjoyable. The meat was also very delicious. The nearest station is Ueno-Hirokoji, but the access is a bit inconvenient, so I would rate it 3. If I lived closer, I would definitely go again!

First visit to a famous yakiniku restaurant in Ueno with a group of 10 people on a weekend starting from early evening. Although weekday lunch drinking would have been better, the most popular course, Taisho-en Full Enjoyment Course with 2.5 hours of all-you-can-drink for 6,500 yen, seemed like a good deal. After some bottled beer, we had highballs and makgeolli. It had been a while since I had makgeolli, and it was so easy to drink that I ended up drinking too much. For the finale, we had a choice of cold noodles, egg porridge, and spicy porridge. I opted for the egg porridge, which seemed gentle on the stomach. There were both old friends and new acquaintances at the table, making it a delightful dining experience.

The restaurant is very spacious. It's so big that you can't see the back! There are private rooms at the back, which is convenient for different occasions. This time, I ordered the "Silk Yukke and Meat Feast Course" which includes: - Appetizers (mixed namul, salad, 3 types of kimchi) - Specialty Silk Yukke - Grilled meat platter (negi-wrapped tongue, thick-cut tongue, tongue suji, today's lean steak, 1-piece harami steak) - Amazing liver and leek - Finale grilled beef bowl set (meat mountain, egg sauce, rice) - Dessert The specialty Silk Yukke with appetizers was amazing. The meat texture was delicate and melted in the mouth. The harami steak was bold and delicious, especially when dipped in garlic butter. The liver and leek dish was exciting from the moment it was being cooked. The finale grilled beef bowl was divine - thin sukiyaki meat grilled, mixed with egg, and served over rice. Enjoying such a full course meal in a cozy atmosphere was wonderful. It seems they are currently only open for reservations, so it might be a good idea to visit before it gets too busy.

The specialty Silk Yukhoe is a dish that will move you. The meat is sweet and delicious, and the unique way it is sliced allows it to melt in your mouth. All the other meats are also beautiful and satisfying. The cost-effective and satisfying special selection course is recommended. The staff's service is also excellent, and I had a fun meal with my mom friends. Ueno Station area is a battleground for yakiniku restaurants, but this longstanding restaurant comes highly recommended.

*Harami Bento ¥1250 (lunch) *Tongue ¥2500 I was able to choose the rice, so I went with multigrain rice♪ The name of the bento on the menu was a bit misleading, I thought it was grilled meat? But it turned out to be yakiniku meat, which was great~! The portion size was decent and it was delicious. The tongue was a bit pricey, but it was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

The main store is closed for renovation, but I visited the annex across the street. I ordered the "B Set for 1050 yen" which includes kalbi, horumon, kimchi, soup, rice, and dessert. The amount of meat for the price is fantastic. The horumon includes liver, beef tongue, and intestines. The kalbi was tasty and satisfying. I finished with a dessert of sherbet. Another delicious meal. Thank you.

When I came to Ueno to eat teppanyaki, I found out that the restaurant was closed on that day, so I decided to try this nearby place instead. I came for lunch on a holiday, and when I opened the automatic door, the staff quickly greeted me and showed me to my seat. The restaurant was surprisingly spacious, with almost all seats taken. I ordered the Harami bento for 1200 yen. It came with 6 pieces of harami, grilled vegetables, seaweed soup, salad, namul, kimchi, pickled radish, and rice. The harami had some marbling, making it tender and delicious. It was nice to grill it myself and eat it to my liking, which is one of the joys of dining at a yakiniku restaurant. The rice was firm, which paired well with the meat. The namul could use a bit more vinegar and salt, but overall, it was a satisfying lunch, especially considering it was a lunch special. You can also order additional meat if you need more. Thank you for the meal.

I came to eat meat with my friends. The restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk from Ueno Station. It may be a little closer to Okachimachi Station or Ueno-Hirokoji Station. We had a reservation for Friday at 7:00 pm, but unexpectedly no one seemed to be able to make it on time... I called the restaurant to see if we could push back the reservation by 30 minutes, and they kindly agreed. We entered at 7:30 pm, and the restaurant was bustling with almost all tables occupied. The interior had a sense of luxury more than the exterior. There were table seats near the entrance, and in the back, there were semi-private table seats and completely private tatami rooms, which can accommodate group customers. This time, we had the all-you-can-eat meat and all-you-can-drink plan. First, a set of meats including hormones and seafood aluminum grill, as well as salad, were brought to us. We had to finish the first round of meat and salad before we could place the next order. The initial meat portion was quite large. The salad was also served one per person, and it was a substantial amount. This time, we had someone with a big appetite in our group, so it was helpful. The harami, loin, and tongue were delicious. The staff's explanations were kind and detailed, and even though the restaurant was busy, they were attentive to things like changing the grill. The drinks for the all-you-can-drink option were served relatively quickly considering the crowded environment. Occasionally, if there was a delay, they would apologize. The staff were all very pleasant and provided excellent service. If you plan to eat a lot and drink a lot, this course is very cost-effective. Thank you for the meal!

Highly recommended yakiniku restaurant by a junior colleague ★ Located less than a 5-minute walk from Yushima, as you approach the restaurant, a yakiniku road appears! I don't usually drink in Ueno, so I was overwhelmed, but I entered the restaurant just before 9 p.m. Immediately ordered the special lemon sour, the famous yukhoe, tongue, kalbi, harami, and a platter of kimchi and namul! Then added a platter of horumon, negi-tan, premium kalbi, and tegutan kuppah, etc. ♡ I love yukhoe, so I was impressed that I could eat it first! And the taste was delicious~♡ I was very satisfied with the other meats, but personally, the tender and flavorful tongue left an impression ✴︎ The kuppah was spicy but delicious, and despite being full, I finished it all´ᴗ` Finally, there is a complimentary sherbet or hot coffee for each person◎ The restaurant was bustling around 9 p.m., but it seemed like customers left quickly, and it became very quiet! The surrounding restaurants also looked delicious, so I feel like exploring the Ueno area٩(๑•̀ω•́๑)۶

A5 Sendai beef omakase dinner with a friend from Hong Kong, their last visit to Japan this year. We arrived at Narita today and made a reservation for dinner at 6:30 PM. I chose a carefully selected Sendai beef omakase course, avoiding yukke as I'm not a fan. I also avoided the hormone dishes and opted for upper mino instead. Skipped the tail soup as well. We enjoyed the course, entertaining our friend, and stayed for about 2 hours. Interestingly, I didn't notice until later that the owner of Valto was sitting right next to us, entertaining someone as well. We didn't notice each other until we stood up and realized we were sitting next to each other. It was a funny coincidence. December 2, 2019, Dinner.

Today, I visited the renowned yakiniku restaurant, Taisho-en Ueno branch. This place is known for its delicious thick-cut wagyu tongue. I opted for the 2.5-hour all-you-can-eat course (6500 yen). The thick-cut wagyu tongue with salt was amazing, very flavorful and satisfying. The harami (skirt steak) was also thick and juicy, almost like eating a steak. The sirloin was excellent, and the kalbi (short rib) was melt-in-your-mouth tender. They also served various types of offal and chicken meat. For the finale, you can choose between cold noodles or a rice dish (white or red) and finish off with sherbet. It was a delightful dining experience.

I went to have yakiniku with friends. It is located on the second floor, one street off Ueno Nakamachi street. There are three Taisho-en restaurants in Ueno. The interior of the restaurant has a luxurious feel, making it a nice place to enjoy a meal. We ordered thickly sliced beef tongue, beef skirt meat, liver, kimchi, and chapchae. The thickly sliced beef tongue was tender and excellent. The beef skirt meat was also delicious when lightly grilled with sauce, allowing the flavor of the meat to come through. The cost performance was reasonable, and we were satisfied with the restaurant. I will definitely go back!

On September 10th, it was Beef Tongue Day. I'm not sure why, but anyway... I chose the limited-time menu for two people, which was all about beef tongue and it was delicious (lol). Oh, I also got a salad with a coupon from this site. I usually drink draft beer, but I switched to black oolong high after ordering kalbi and harami to take care of my body. They also cater to overseas customers, and I tried mino, raw yukhoe, and tegutankukpa, as they are the only certified store for yukhoe. Of course, I made sure the customers enjoyed it... and we finished with sherbet. As always, it was very delicious. Additional note: I looked it up, and Beef Tongue Day was established in 2006 by the Sendai Beef Tongue Promotion Association, which consists of beef tongue specialty stores centered around Sendai City in Miyagi Prefecture. The date is a play on words as "gyu" (9) and "tan" (10) can be read as "gyutan" (beef tongue). The purpose is to allow more people to enjoy the famous beef tongue grill, which is a part of Sendai's food culture, in a delicious, enjoyable, and safe way. The commemorative day was recognized and registered by the Japan Anniversary Association in 2018. The name of the commemorative day is "Beef Tongue Day," with "tan" written in hiragana.

We made a reservation for two on a Friday night in August. It was great that even though there were only two of us, we could still get the all-you-can-drink course for 5000 yen. We were seated in a semi-private room which was spacious. There was a group having a party nearby, but it didn't bother us. There were many options for the all-you-can-drink menu. The staff seemed busy with the party groups, but they were attentive in changing the grill frequently and offering us more drinks when our glasses were almost empty. The meat was delicious as expected from a popular restaurant, and the course was a good deal. I also used 1200 yen worth of T-points that I had saved up on Tabelog.

I went to an all-you-can-eat restaurant. At first, plates of meat, seafood, and hormone were prepared for the number of people, and we could refill them once they were empty. However, the amount on the first plate was ridiculously large! It was difficult to finish four servings... But the meat was thick, tender, and delicious. The refillable items included meat, seafood, hormone, rice, salad, soup, and kimchi. It's a shame that there are only a few items available for refills. It would be nice if the amount on the first plate could be reduced so we could enjoy more cuts. Finally, melon sherbet was served, which was a very refreshing way to end the meal. If you want to eat good meat to your heart's content, especially for women, the cost performance may be good.

This is a review of a yakiniku restaurant located in a dining district a short walk from Keisei Ueno Station towards Yushima. It may be more fitting to describe it as a standing bar called Kadokura, for those familiar with this area. When dining with some senior colleagues, there was a request for yakiniku, so I searched and made a reservation using Tabelog. [Order Details] - 2.5-hour all-you-can-drink 14-course meal (6,000 yen) As it was a gathering with colleagues who enjoy drinking, the all-you-can-drink option was a must. Intrigued by the 2.5-hour duration, I reserved the course meal. The all-you-can-drink included various drinks like draft beer, sours, makgeolli, shochu, and highball, which kept us satisfied until we almost lost our memory, haha. For the dishes, we started with an appetizer of salad, namul, kimchi, and chapchae. While I'm not familiar with the taste of high-end yakiniku restaurants, it was delicious enough for me. The course included: - Thick-cut beef tongue - Assorted kalbi and loin - Assorted harami, chicken, hormone, and liver I can't speak for the taste of premium meats, but all of them were very delicious in my opinion. The meal also included cold noodles and dessert, which made for a satisfying course. The gathering consisted of people in their mid-fifties, and everyone enjoyed eating and drinking, making the organizer very pleased with the dinner. I must reiterate that a course with all-you-can-drink for 2.5 hours at this price point is truly excellent value for money. I have found a restaurant that will be useful for yakiniku requests in the future. I look forward to visiting again. Thank you for the meal.

The only certified restaurant where you can taste Yukhoe (Korean beef tartare). It had been a while since I had a yakiniku dinner with friends, including a couple who are CEOs of a certain company in Hong Kong and their staff. We reserved a private room with a round table, which is a hidden gem known to those in the know. We started with salads, lettuce wraps, pickled vegetables, and other vegetable dishes before moving on to thick-cut beef tongue, premium kalbi, and top-grade tripe. Of course, we also ordered a couple of rounds of draft beer, probably around eight glasses in total. For our finale, we enjoyed seafood pancake and garlic oil-grilled dishes. We also tried the popular kalbi ramen, which is a late-night menu item available after 10 PM. We learned a lot from the female staff member who commutes from Yokohama. The restaurant is open until 4 AM on Fridays, Saturdays, and holidays. To find the restaurant, go down the Hirokoji alley from the Hirokoji intersection in Ueno, pass the fugu restaurant, and on your right, you'll see the sign for the main store. If you go up the stairs on the left, you'll find the annex. This route will help you avoid the aggressive street promoters.

At Taisho-en, you can enjoy dishes like Yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) in the annex. The interior of the restaurant has a typical yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) restaurant atmosphere, with some private rooms available. It seems like a place that would be used for business entertainment in this area! On this day, we ordered Yukhoe, thickly sliced salted tongue, harami (skirt steak), liver, scallops, a 6-piece appetizer platter, and cold noodles. The highlight was definitely the Yukhoe. When mixed with the egg yolk, it becomes incredibly smooth and delicious! The freshness of the meat is crucial for this dish! Another standout was the thickly sliced salted tongue. It may have looked slightly frozen, but it wasn't. When grilled, it had a firm and satisfying texture. Delicious! We ended the meal with cold noodles, which was a light and tasty choice. Last year, I gradually became busier in the second half of the year, and it was a year full of troubles. This year, I am planning to start fresh and change my mindset. I received an invitation to a New Year's party from a senior colleague who I always rely on. We went to a yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) New Year's party at a well-established yakiniku restaurant called "Taishoen," located near Ueno Station. Taishoen has three stores in Ueno: the main store, a separate building, and a store in front of the station. The separate building is the only place where you can eat yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), so that's where we made a reservation. It had been a while since I had raw meat, and it was delicious. We ordered the following dishes: - Tongue salt assortment (3,300 yen): The visual presentation and thickness of the tongue meat were amazing. The crispy texture and delicious taste of the tongue salt had me hooked. - Chef's selection of 5 types of meat (6,800 yen): This assortment included Marukawa, upper shoulder loin, small triangle, tenderloin, and ichibo. The marbling in the meat looked like it would melt if not cooked quickly, but the presence of lean meat was also noticeable when eaten. It was incredibly delicious. - Hormone mix of 6 types (1,900 yen): Hormones are just as important as meat for yakiniku lovers, so we tried the hormone mix. It was enjoyable to taste various flavors. - Maruchou (1,050 yen): We enjoyed the hormone mix so much that we ordered another serving. The tender texture and the rich fat that spreads in the mouth were excellent. - Honeycomb tripe (830 yen): We also ordered this dish because we enjoyed the hormone mix. The pleasant texture made it disappear quickly. - Tongue stew (830 yen) - Yukhoe (1,600 yen): Yukhoe can only be eaten at the separate building. The sight of the egg yolk sitting on top was exciting. Mixing the egg yolk with the yukhoe created a rich and delicious flavor that melted in the mouth. - Raw liver sashimi (980 yen): A refreshing dish to enjoy as a break between bites. - Chinese cabbage kimchi (630 yen) - Kakuteki (630 yen) - Wakame namul (750 yen): I thought it was unique to have wakame in a namul dish. - Spicy beef tendon stew (750 yen): It was delicious and went well with drinks and rice. - Tora Makgeolli (2,700 yen): A Japanese sake-like dry makgeolli. Tora Makgeolli is a domestically produced makgeolli made only from rice without any additives, and it is not heat-treated, making it a truly "raw" makgeolli. The staff were efficient and friendly. In addition to table seating, there are also private rooms with sunken kotatsu-style seating. They offer a variety of options, including a course with all-you-can-drink and all-you-can-eat yakiniku. We ordered a la carte this time, and they even gave us coffee or dessert as a service after the meal. I would like to try the all-you-can-eat option next time.

I had dinner in Ueno late at night for the first time at this restaurant. We started with a toast with beer and ordered a variety of dishes such as kimchi assortment, yukhoe, namul, tongue, and tail meat. The kimchi assortment had 4 different types and was delicious. The yukhoe was served with sauce and salt, and it was a treat as I don't often eat raw meat. The tongue was juicy and chewy, and I couldn't get enough of it. I had never tried tail meat for barbecue before, and it was surprisingly delicious with just the right amount of fat and rich flavor. I couldn't understand why I hadn't tried it before. We drank and ate until dawn, and for the finale, we ordered scallop porridge, tteok, and cold noodles. The scallop porridge was gentle and perfect for finishing the meal. The cold noodles were refreshing and firm. Tteok was like a Korean-style soup with rice cakes. We may have ordered too much, but we finished everything. It was a great time. Thank you for the meal.
