This top-quality meat at this price!? A hidden gem of a yakiniku restaurant has appeared in the fiercely competitive area of Akasaka!! Theme: Yakiniku
I stumbled upon a hit restaurant after a while. I really liked it so I actually don't want to tell anyone about it (laughs). But since the staff here are all working so hard... and the food is just too delicious... I have no choice but to tell everyone!!
The place is called "Horumon Matsuda," which may sound like just a horumon (offal) grill, but it is actually a splendid yakiniku restaurant that offers premium rare cuts of meat. It is conveniently located near Akasaka Mitsuke Station! You can also walk there from Akasaka. Since it's a new restaurant, the interior has a modern bar-like feel. The concrete walls give it a stylish and clean look. They have private rooms with doors that close completely, so you can dine in secret (laughs), but don't worry! The chairs have space underneath to store your belongings like bags and coats. It's a nice touch to prevent the smell of meat from sticking to your things.
The menu is surprisingly reasonable. They serve dishes like stir-fried potatoes, homemade pickled cucumbers, and chilled tomatoes to start with. Then comes the exquisite tongue! Just look at the thickness of it! It is served with the restaurant's original salt ponzu sauce. The staff cooks it for you with professional skill, so you can enjoy it at its best. The perfectly cooked tongue has a crispy texture when you bite into it, followed by a burst of meat juices, making it incredibly delicious!
Next up is the skirt meat. Surprisingly, it has a refreshing taste of fat!? It goes great with beer. Perhaps it's cooked so well that excess fat just melts away, making it delicious. It's no wonder it's called "Horumon" Matsuda. By the way, you can also enjoy the skirt meat with plum seasoning if you like. The yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) is very sweet and brings out the flavor of the meat. The green onion salad, which the staff painstakingly shredded, is a masterpiece. The crunchy green onions with sesame oil and salt are incredibly delicious.
Since it's meat, we ordered a Beringer red wine. Cheers to the handsome waiter! Now, the restaurant's specialty has arrived. Matsuda-yaki, where thinly sliced premium sirloin is grilled and served with a special sauce. You can't cook this meat yourself! It requires the skill of a master chef. The special sauce is... grated yam sauce. Somehow, it goes perfectly with the top-quality sirloin.
They also served us meat sushi made with the finest meat. It was served with both seared and rare pieces. You can enjoy two different flavors, which is fantastic. We paired the meal with Dassai sake and enjoyed the top-grade harami (skirt meat). The elegant marbling and juicy texture of the meat were superb.
For the finale, we ordered the Yukkejang Kuppa, a popular dish. The rich soup, fluffy rice, and softly cooked egg were a perfect combination. But we also wanted to try the cold noodles... So, they kindly served us a smaller portion in a smaller bowl to share. The chef's warmth is truly appreciated. The cold noodles had a crispy texture and a sparkling soup, which was refreshing and elegant.
After a refreshing ginger sour, we couldn't resist trying the beef tendon curry that we had forgotten to order. They brought us a small portion, and it turned out to be surprisingly refreshing, with a hint of spice that complements the dish well! It was delicious!
We ended the meal with the chef's homemade almond jelly.
As for the bill, it was around 7,000 yen per person for all this! The chef's recommended "omakase style" meat selection was worth it.
