Visited in spring and summer. (The image is from August visit.) Impressed by Mr. Muramatsu's high level of hospitality and meticulous work. It's understandable why there are many regular customers. Not only the tempura, but also the appetizers, rice, and miso soup were all delicious. They check the time for you so you can enjoy your meal leisurely. The price of alcohol is reasonable, which is appreciated by drinkers. ✨✨

Why is this tempura so delicious? Even if you wonder about it, there are few tempura shops that can provide an answer. This tempura shop will tell you why it's so delicious, how it was prepared, and which salt is best to eat it with. You have to focus when eating it to truly understand its deliciousness. They even fry live shrimp, allowing you to taste the fleeting "sweetness." This shop might be testing whether you are an adult who can appreciate such things. Every dish, including the final dessert of melon, is exceptionally delicious.

The owner of the restaurant enthusiastically explains in detail about the carefully selected ingredients and seasonings. The shop is known for its dedication to every aspect of their work, from the materials to the condiments. Accessible from Yushima Station on the Chiyoda Line or Ueno-Okachimachi Station on the Oedo Line, as well as within walking distance from Ueno Station or Okachimachi Station. Reservation is a must due to the high demand. The small shop has a welcoming atmosphere, with staff waiting outside during reservation times. The cozy interior allows customers to witness the professional work up close, without the overpowering smell of oil often found in cheaper tempura shops. I ordered the lunch course, opting for the Tsuru Course where you can choose between tempura rice bowl or tempura tea... it was amazing. You order after being seated and can pay either at your table or at the register. The tempura is served one by one in the order of the course, with detailed explanations on how to enjoy each piece and recommendations for dipping sauce. Despite not being a frequent tempura eater, I was truly impressed by the chef's innovative work. I definitely want to come back with my partner next time. The service was top-notch with no complaints. This hidden gem of a tempura shop in the Ueno-Yushima area was a delightful find after visiting Kanda Shrine. I will definitely revisit this place.

Muramatsu is located about a 5-minute walk from Bunkyo Station. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and clean, creating a relaxed atmosphere. I was able to enjoy my meal in a very peaceful setting! The owner, Mr. Matsuyama, provided excellent customer service and was very friendly and welcoming. It seems like they are usually fully booked, so making a reservation is a must! The main dish is tempura, made with fresh ingredients and served with three types of natural salt, grated daikon radish, and a flavorful dipping sauce. It was truly a delicious tempura that I highly recommend trying! For dessert, I had some melon, which was juicy and full of refreshing juice.

The pure white sesame oil, light batter, perfect cooking, 3 types of natural salt, sweet grated daikon, and flavorful dipping sauce. Everything I ate was delicious as always. The highlights today were: crispy and fluffy saimaki shrimp, creamy sesame tofu, crunchy lotus root with a sweet taste, and a tempura assortment of rapeseed flowers, fiddleheads, ginkgo nuts, and chayote. The natural blowfish milt tempura and tempura rice bowl were also outstanding.

Since there were a large number of people, when I contacted in advance, they not only gave up their day off to accommodate us but also made it a private setting for us. With no other customers present, we were able to listen carefully to the master's detailed explanations. Everyone, including our business partners, was extremely satisfied and impressed with the commitment to quality ingredients and frying techniques. The highlights of the day were as follows: Sai Maki Ebi (deep-fried shrimp): The sweetness of the flesh, along with the perfectly crispy exterior and fluffy interior of the legs, was outstanding. Higo Purple Eggplant: When deep-fried, it becomes soft and creamy on the inside, with a smoky flavor. Large male Shishamo fish: Fried fresh with no added salt. The strong flavor of the Shishamo fish was not overshadowed by the batter. Absolutely delicious. Simmered chestnuts with a hint of sweetness from the skin: Chestnuts simmered with a subtle sweetness. Served as a dessert at the end of the course. *It was a business dinner with our partners, so I couldn't take photos. The image below is from a previous visit.

Tsushima is located just a short walk from Ueno-Okachimachi Station. It is a high-class restaurant with a kind owner who explains the dishes in detail. We ordered a course meal and enjoyed seasonal bamboo shoots and fresh fish. For the main dish, we had a choice between tempura rice bowl or tempura with hojicha tea poured over it to make ochazuke. I chose the tempura rice bowl. As a 5th-anniversary celebration, the restaurant gave us a choice of either salt or sesame oil as a gift. The oil was of high quality and clear, making it a joy to use for cooking at home. The food was delicious. Thank you very much!

Located between Yushima and Ueno Hirokoji, this small yet clean and cozy restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere. The owner is very polite and provides detailed explanations of the dishes. They show you the ingredients of the day first. The fried dishes were cooked to perfection and very delicious. I forgot to take a picture of the shiitake mushrooms and butterbur. I received sesame oil as a souvenir. Thank you for the meal.

The interior of the restaurant was elegant, and the staff were polite, creating a calm atmosphere for dining. They seemed to have delicious beer, but since I can't drink beer, I started with sparkling wine. The meal began with a tofu appetizer, a delicious sashimi plate featuring tuna, followed by a series of tempura dishes. There were three types of salt, each pairing well with vegetables, seafood, etc. The pink salt had a unique color from purple sweet potato, which I found interesting as I already have it at home from Okinawa. The grated daikon radish was cute and round. The tempura dishes were artfully presented, like the shrimp leg. The shrimp was juicy and flavorful. The tempura with sesame tofu and rice cracker was visually unique and had a soft and interesting texture. Next was a juicy shiitake mushroom. I didn't take a photo, but the bamboo shoot I had here smelled sweet like corn. Before frying it, they let me smell it, and I was surprised by how different it tasted compared to regular bamboo shoots when I bit into it. The mozuku seaweed as a palate cleanser had pink pepper on top, which lingered in my senses until the end. I like it, but maybe not right now. The fluffy conger eel with sansho pepper and grated daikon was excellent. The thick and delicious eel was tasty even with just salt. The warm and fluffy lotus root made me happy. The gingko nuts were consistently delicious. The rare fried scallop had a texture that changed from firm to moist, which was irresistible. And finally, the meal ended with shrimp. I had tencha tea with the meal, which had a light flavor that was just right at the end of the tempura course. The meal ended on a happy note with sweet melon. It was a reliable course. The tableware was also cute~

I decided to revisit this restaurant and I was not disappointed. The interior was spotlessly clean and well-maintained, with a nice sense of tension that was balanced by the warm personality of the chef. I was very satisfied with the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere. Compared to the recent price increases at sushi restaurants, the prices here are surprisingly reasonable, almost too cheap in my opinion (although I'm not complaining). We were the only customers tonight, so it felt like a private chef's table experience. During my last visit, I learned about the chef's attention to detail with oil and utensils, and this time I learned about his dedication to flour, cooking techniques, and discovering new ingredients. My admiration for the chef has only grown stronger.

We made a reservation at this restaurant to celebrate both our colleague's milestone of 25 years of service and our synchronicity. The taste of the tempura was excellent, and the hospitality of the owner was fantastic! We were so moved by the experience. We were able to enjoy delicious tempura to our heart's content at the counter, making it a precious lunchtime. We now have another restaurant on our list that we want to visit again!

Tempura Shikisai, congratulations on your 5th anniversary, Mr. Muramatsu! It feels like a wonderful start to spring amidst the pandemic. The fresh seafood, with a rich taste that isn't overpowering, and the perfectly crispy texture from the skillful frying, are truly impressive! The flavors of the fresh seasonal vegetables are delicious as well, but the vibrant colors of the freshly fried tempura are also a feast for the eyes. It was a moment that truly captured the essence of spring.

I visited this restaurant for lunch last weekend and was impressed by the quality, service, atmosphere, and price. I was so impressed that I immediately made a reservation for dinner and visited for the second time. I was surprised to receive a thank you email right after my first visit, and even more surprised to see that they respond to all reviews. I thought it would be difficult to differentiate between lunch and dinner, but I was wrong. They use higher quality ingredients and prepare them in different ways, making the dinner experience just as amazing. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality. I also learned that they pay attention to not only the ingredients and cooking methods, but also to the dishes and oil they use. I have become a big fan of this restaurant!

I usually avoid carbohydrates, so I rarely eat tempura. But I really wanted to try it, so I visited this place based on online reviews and ratings. The grated daikon radish and tempura dipping sauce served before the meal were outstanding. The daikon radish was sweet and well drained, and the tempura dipping sauce had a strong bonito flavor, which was rare and delicious. Normally I prefer just salt, but here I wanted to dip the tempura in the sauce. The daikon radish was more like a palate cleanser or dessert, I even asked for seconds (laughs). Everything I had was of excellent quality, but what stood out the most were the sweet and plump saimaki shrimp (even the head was crispy), the rare scallop, fragrant smelt, sweet and sticky sweet potato like a sweet potato yokan, and the last kakiage had a unique and aromatic flavor. The restaurant had a serene atmosphere, with a focus on ingredients and frying techniques, warm service from the chef and staff (even separate restrooms for men and women in a small restaurant!), a variety of dishes beyond what was listed on the menu, and the bill for one person including drinks and tax was around 8,000 yen! Personally, I think this is the best tempura restaurant in Japan, and there's no need to go anywhere else for tempura.

Hello everyone⛅️, this is ZMA. Today I went to a tempura restaurant for the first time. I visited "Tempura Shikisai Muramatsu" in Yushima, and I made a reservation through "ikyu.com". I reserved the Crane Course for lunch for ¥7700. The staff were friendly and explained while frying the tempura. The restaurant had a faint smell of sesame oil. The dishes included shrimp head, saimaki shrimp, sweetfish, myoga, ginkgo nuts, shrimp tempura, candied chestnuts, and you can choose between tempura rice bowl or tempura tea for the final course. I chose the tempura rice bowl, which was delicious. Surprisingly, despite eating a lot, I didn't feel heavy or have heartburn. The tempura was light and crispy due to the high-quality oil and high temperature. After paying, the owner even escorted me outside. It was a great experience. Well then, see you next time!

I had been curious about this tempura restaurant in Okachimachi, and finally got the chance to visit during the self-restraint period due to the COVID-19 situation. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, with counter and table seating options. The friendly hostess guided us to our seats, and we ordered drinks while waiting for the food. The chef presented the day's ingredients, and I was excited by the quality of the spring vegetables. We had a set course for 6,000 yen, and here are some of the highlights: - Yuzu sake soda: A refreshing drink with a light and cool taste. - Appetizer: White-cooked eel and yuba with pink pepper. The eel had a delicious broth and the pink pepper added just the right amount of spice. - Three types of salt: Noto salt, Izumo's full moon seaweed salt, and Okinawa's purple sweet potato salt. Each had a unique flavor, but the simple Noto salt was the most versatile. - Grated radish: Incredibly delicious radish that was addictive and a standout dish. - Shrimp legs: Crispy and delicious, with a nice crunch. - Shrimp sashimi: Fresh and flavorful, with a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. - Sesame tofu: A unique dish with a creamy texture and crunchy coating. - Eggplant: A combination of water eggplant and red eggplant that was surprisingly tasty. - Sand borer fish: A delicious and tender fish that was a delight to eat. - Maitake mushroom: A standout dish with a rich and flavorful taste. - Eel 1: A classic eel dish with grated radish and tempura dipping sauce. - Eel 2: A refreshing eel dish with vinegar and citrus zest. - Asparagus: Juicy and perfectly fried asparagus with a great balance of flavors. - Young ayu fish: A beautiful and delicious dish with a perfect balance of bitterness and umami. - Baby corn: Crispy and slightly sweet, a delightful treat. - Broad beans: A delicious dish with a crispy coating and a creamy inside. Overall, the tempura at Marushima was exceptional, with each dish showcasing the chef's skill in frying vegetables and fish to perfection. The flavors were well-balanced and the ingredients were of high quality. I highly recommend this restaurant for a memorable tempura dining experience.

The tempura restaurant "Muramatsu" in Yushima feels a bit new with its white wooden counter. I ordered a course meal consisting of "appetizer," "10 pieces of tempura with fish and vegetables," "main dish," and "dessert." Although the tempura dipping sauce wasn't to my liking, the tempura made with carefully selected ingredients had a refreshing texture. The owner explained the origin and ingredients of each dish in detail and showed a commitment to hospitality from the moment I entered until I left. This restaurant offers authentic tempura at a reasonable price, and I look forward to visiting again in the future.

This was the first time I encountered a tempura restaurant with such a friendly and talkative owner! When I arrived about 10 minutes before my reservation time, the owner was waiting outside in the rain for me. Despite the cold weather, I was greeted warmly. Inside the restaurant, there was a bright wooden counter. The seating arrangement was spacious, allowing each person to enjoy their meal comfortably without worrying about the person next to them. There were only 7 seats at the counter, but there was also a private room at the back. The restrooms were located in a separate area away from the counter, with one for men and one for women, which was a great feature. The cleanliness of the restaurant was impeccable. During this visit, the tempura was delicious as expected, but what impressed me the most was the owner's dedication to the ingredients, the salt used (even a salt that costs tens of thousands of yen per kilogram!), and the tableware. I was moved by the level of dedication throughout. The owner was very talkative and shared a lot of information, which was a great learning experience for me as a novice. However, there was so much information to take in at once that I couldn't remember everything, so I hope to learn more next time. From the sea urchin-topped sesame tofu to the tempura rice bowl at the end, I was completely satisfied! Despite the generous portion sizes, everything was truly delicious. The owner's personality added to the overall experience, making the meal even more enjoyable. I had a wonderful dining experience and am grateful for it.

I found a reasonably priced tempura restaurant for lunch!! Tempura Shikisai Muramatsu offers authentic freshly fried tempura starting from 3000 yen for lunch (^-^). It's located about a 3-minute walk from Ueno-hirokoji Station on the Ginza Subway Line! When I arrived at the restaurant, there was a signboard outside with today's reservation full notice! It seems to be quite popular♪(Saturday) I'm glad I made a reservation yesterday! There was a first-anniversary flower at the entrance. It seems like a new restaurant. The interior is also clean and you can feel the freshness♪ I handed over my coat at the entrance and sat at the end of the L-shaped counter. I ordered the 3000 yen course and a bottle of Yuki no Bosha beer. After a while, I was explained about the salt on the plate and shown the ingredients in a wooden box for today's meal. Oh, even though it's 3,000 yen, there were quite a lot of ingredients. Ah, looking forward to it♪ Looking forward to it♪ When I tried to take a photo, Mr. Muramatsu, who seemed to be the owner, called out to the kitchen, "Are the shrimp ready!?" and even put the shrimp being prepared on the plate before allowing me to take a photo. I felt that the service was very polite (^-^) We were the last ones for lunch, so the food took a little longer to be served, but everything was delicious! The shrimp and the tilefish were delicious, but especially the vegetables were delicious! I was surprised when tomatoes came out as tempura, but they were sweet and delicious. (laughs) After the tempura, we were served rice and red miso soup, and it ended with green tea ice cream♪ When I looked closely at the menu on Tabelog, the number of dishes served was clearly more than what was listed on Tabelog! I thought the owner was really kind♪ Occasionally, the staff were a bit busy, but there were heartwarming moments that made me want to cheer them on (^.^) On the way back, even though there were still customers inside, the owner and the staff saw us off outside. And when I looked back after walking a little, I could still see them! Amazing! I was really impressed by their customer service, and I was glad to have found such a great restaurant♪ I would love to visit again♪ Thank you for the meal♪

Wow! I had an amazing tempura meal in Yushima! I was craving tempura for lunch on Saturday and after searching and searching, I found this place! It seems like it opened last April and the restaurant is clean and perfect for a date. I made a reservation the day before and ordered the lunch A course for 3000 yen, but ended up changing to the B course for 5000 yen after hearing about the ingredients and their dedication. Cheers with a Mustard Dream! The shrimp tempura was delicious, starting with a "saimaki" shrimp, which is known as a "career shrimp" in the fish market. Did you know that shrimp weighing less than 30g are called "maki," and within that, smaller ones are called "komaki" and "saimaki"? As they grow, their names change. The shrimp legs are flavorful and the shrimp itself is amazing! The eggplant was from Kumamoto, large and juicy, a tempura eggplant like I've never had before. Delicious! The Japanese whiting and conger eel were both transparent and you could taste the dedication to the ingredients. The ginkgo nuts were famous and had a unique flavor I've never experienced before. The tempura here is best enjoyed with three kinds of gentle salt, or dipped in the tempura sauce made from dried bonito flakes. It was a blissful moment! The wine was flowing and the tempura was fried perfectly, light and flavorful. The tempura fried in sesame oil was so good, I could eat as much as I wanted! Sesame oil is good for blood pressure, which is important for someone like me who lives a thrilling life and doesn't always know how high their blood pressure is. The service and attention to detail were amazing, a rare find. I would recommend this place over any famous restaurant in the city, I think it's Michelin-level. The dinner course may be pricey, but for the amount and quality you get at lunch for this price, it's fantastic. This time, with drinks and additional dishes, it came to about 14,000 yen for one person, but even at around 5,000 yen, you'll be satisfied. I am confident that this is a top-notch restaurant that will leave you completely satisfied. Remember this place, "Muramatsu," for tempura!
