Clear Water @ Taito 1-chome. A valuable independent noodle shop open on Saturdays, serving autumn-colored pickled ginger. Opened in February last year and already opening a second location, attracting attention for their skills. I ordered the cold kitsune noodles with additional pickled ginger tempura. The pre-made fried tofu flavor was quite strong, but when wrapped in wasabi, it tasted great. They use fresh noodles and the slightly sweet broth reminded me of something I've had before. The pickled ginger tempura had onions mixed in, creating a good balance of ginger's spiciness and onion's sweetness. The size of the tempura was surprisingly large. This shop's variety of side dishes is another feature that stands out, with various rice bowls and curries catching the eye. Phew, I'm so full! From renowned shops like Futaba, Kawaichi, Nogmura, and Minogasa to the bustling noodle battleground in this area, we can't take our eyes off this newcomer fighting for survival.

I visited the restaurant for lunch alone after a long time. The prices had gone up, which was expected. Unfortunately, they were sold out of shungiku... that was disappointing. I debated between pickled ginger and enoki mushrooms, but ended up choosing the enoki. It was thick and delicious, but unfortunately, I couldn't really taste the flavor. I will visit again next time in search of shungiku. Thank you for the meal.

Akiba business district in Asakusabashi, across from Showa Street. This area is filled with standing soba shops. "Shimizuya" has a seating area on the right and a standing area on the left. Walk towards the back and hand your meal ticket to the friendly owner and hostess. The "Geso Tempura Soba" costs ¥590. It features sliced squid legs fried in a ring-shaped tempura. The soba noodles are thin and have a firm texture, similar to Udon noodles. The broth is rich and slightly sweet, with a distinct acidity from the bonito. The acidity may vary depending on the bonito used, making each day's broth unique. This place seems like a guilty pleasure spot, with addictive qualities. If you work nearby, you might become addicted to this place. The variety of unique and delicious options in the area makes it a great place for customers. The standing soba and udon genre has seen price increases recently, but you can still enjoy a fulfilling meal for ¥1000 or less. There is still so much more to explore in the world of standing soba. I want to keep writing about it, even if it leads to excessive salt intake and eventual demise (laughs).

In the morning, I went solo to Shimizu-ya in Taito, Taito, which is open for breakfast. The location is near the Life supermarket on Kiyosu Bridge Street. I ordered the morning curry set, which was a great deal, and chose cold soba noodles. I sprinkled some super spicy chili pepper on the curry and alternated between eating it with wasabi and the soba noodles. This made me sweat a lot and my pores opened up, leaving me feeling refreshed. #EarlyMorningShimizu-yaClub #NoodlesFirst #SobaForBreakfast

I had cold soba noodles for breakfast at Asakusabashi for 370 yen. It's another hot day with the temperature already at 29℃. I felt like eating something cold, so I decided to try the cold noodles after 3 and a half months. I arrived at 7:20 AM and there were 2 customers already seated. I ordered the tanuki soba noodles, cold. The interior of the restaurant was cool and comfortable. The soba noodles were served with seaweed and green onions, and you could add tempura flakes as much as you like. The noodles had a good texture and a slightly sticky starchiness. I'm not a fan of seaweed, so I could do without it. Overall, it was a delicious meal. Reviewed on August 3, 2023 for breakfast. Rating: 3.45

I went to Shimizu-ya, which had high ratings! I ordered the Squid Tempura Soba for 590 yen. I handed the ticket to the mother and received my food in about 2 minutes! The broth had just the right amount of saltiness, and the soba noodles were firm with a good portion size. The Squid Tempura was huge, almost like a whole octopus! It had a great volume, and there were also onions in it. The price of 590 yen was not high for what you get. I saw another customer eating curry, and it looked delicious. I want to try the curry set next time! The tempura flakes are free, so the morning set is recommended! Thank you for the meal! I will come again!

The restaurant is located along Kiyosu Bridge Street, halfway between JR Akihabara Station and JR Asakusabashi Station in Taito-ku, Tokyo. I read a review on MyRebi and decided to visit. I arrived on Saturday morning at 7:09 am. I purchased a ticket for Ebi-Ten Soba/Udon for 590 yen at the ticket machine on the right side upon entering, and handed it to the staff requesting cold soba. There were two men already inside, and one more arrived later. There were one male and one female staff members. The radio was playing inside. At 7:13 am, the Ebi-Ten Soba arrived. The soba was smooth and had a good texture. The broth had just the right amount of saltiness. The tempura shrimp was crispy. Wakame and green onions were also served. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the Squid Tempura Soba for lunch in June. The squid was plentiful, which made me very happy. It had a satisfying texture. The soba noodles had a dark color and a strong soba flavor, which I found delicious. I personally prefer a bit more soy sauce in the broth, but it was still tasty with a good dashi flavor. I didn't include it in the photo, but I couldn't resist adding some pickled ginger tempura on the side. My stomach is full now!

On June 21, 2023, at 8:50 in the morning, I went to Kodemma-cho in search of "Geso Tempura Soba." When I arrived at "Tasoba" restaurant, there was a long line. While waiting, I checked the ticket machine and couldn't find "Geso Tempura Soba" ( ;∀;). I gave up and decided to go to "Shimizuya" instead. When I checked at home later, I realized that by ordering "Tempura Soba" at the counter and asking for "Geso," it becomes "Geso Tempura Soba." I had completely forgotten about this. Oh well. Nevertheless, I like "Shimizuya" as a soba restaurant. When I approached the ticket machine, I found it - "Geso Tempura Soba"! However, the price has increased, now @590 instead of @530. That's okay. Let's start with the broth after a long time! It has a slightly sweet and comforting taste for those who love a good dashi. Moreover, the soba noodles are delicious here. The plentiful red pepper adds a nice kick. The "Geso Tempura" here is made with onions. The onions work well, enhancing the flavor of the broth even more. The tempura is big, about 2cm, and there were about 6 pieces of it. The crunchy texture is irresistible. However, I couldn't taste the "deliciousness of squid" like in Rokumon. The soba is not your typical standing-eating style. Surprisingly, I finished it all. Thank you for the meal!

It's Monday. Feeling sluggish, I sought some stimulation and headed to a Thai restaurant, only to find it closed or with no lights on. So, I tried a slightly upscale Chinese restaurant, but there were already 3 people waiting outside. I don't like Mondays. It reminded me of a shooting incident at an American elementary school where a 16-year-old girl was the perpetrator. She was asked about her motive and those were her words. Anyway, I lost interest and ended up at a standing soba noodle shop. It was packed, but I managed to secure a spot with a glass of water. I had a mini katsudon set for 650 yen. The soba was delicious, at least.

Visited Geso Tensoba in Taito, Tokyo for a solo attack at Shimizuya near Life on Kiyosu Bridge Street. The dish was filled with plenty of chewy cut squid pieces. Sprinkled some super spicy chili pepper on top and experienced intense sweating and a refreshing feeling with pores wide open. #EarlyMorningShimizuyaClub #NoodleRoadFirst #SobaForBreakfast

I had lunch here and ordered the "D Set - Cold Soba with Mini Beef Bowl and Squid Tempura". The squid tempura was delicious with the sweetness of the onions, and the soba was as tasty as always. The beef bowl had boiled pork with a sauce similar to yakiniku. Thank you for the meal, it was delicious.

The restaurant is in summer mode, and my appetite isn't great, so I decided to visit this nearby place with high ratings that I found through a search. I ordered the cold tempura soba for 540 yen and one inari sushi for 70 yen, and took a seat at a vacant chair. Soon, my order was ready for pick-up at the counter. The egg was raw and the tempura was placed on top without being soaked in broth. Personally, I prefer when the tempura is soaked in broth for cold dishes. The soba had a nice aroma and good texture. The restaurant is small but has both standing and seated options, and the staff is friendly. Surprisingly, I saw a couple of young women tasting soba. The inari sushi was also a good size and delicious. I will definitely come back.

I had breakfast at Asakusabashi today. I arrived at 7:26 AM and there were 5 customers already there. It had been about a year since my last visit. The last time I ordered the curry rice set and it didn't suit my taste at all, so I didn't have a good impression of the place and avoided it for a while. Recently, I have been enjoying eating tanuki soba at various standing soba shops, so I decided to give this place another try. The rice set with curry costs 400 yen, which is quite cheap. However, I didn't need that much food in the morning. I prefer tanuki soba. But there was no tanuki soba option on the ticket machine, so I ordered the plain soba and added my own tempura bits. The plain soba costs 350 yen, which is very affordable. The tempura bits are self-service, you can add as much as you like. I added some red pepper for extra flavor. Despite my previous bad experience with the curry, the soba was surprisingly tasty. The broth had a good seafood flavor and was easy to drink. I will definitely be coming back here. I enjoyed my meal on April 19, 2023, for breakfast. Rating: 3.45

I intended to go to a certain famous ramen shop nearby, but due to the rainy weather, there was quite a long line and I gave up. This shop had no customers, so I decided to enter immediately. I usually order squid tempura or seaweed at standing eateries. Today, I ordered squid tempura and it was ready in less than 5 minutes. The squid tempura had onions and chopped squid, but I wish it was a bit crispier. There was plenty of seaweed and green onions, which was appreciated. The noodles were thin, which I like. The broth lacked a special touch, but overall it was satisfactory for a standing eatery. Thank you for the meal.

There is a standing soba noodle shop with seats available, where I ordered the "Soba and Beef Bowl Set with Cold Soba." It took a few minutes to cook after ordering, but the soba had a good texture and was refreshing. The price was only 590 yen, and the staff were friendly. It was a great restaurant. Thank you for the meal, and thank you very much.

Don't miss the soba restaurant's noren (curtain sign). The interior of the restaurant is not very noticeable, with seating and standing areas divided evenly. Once you try their addictive broth soba, you'll become a fan. The toppings are also great, adding a nice crunch to the flavorful broth. A place where you'll want to try everything on the menu!

Soba Shimizuya (standing soba shop) is a standing soba shop that opened in February 2021 in the Akihabara-Ueno area of Taito-ku, Tokyo, known as a fierce battleground for standing soba shops. It is a food and beverage business started by an individual operator who mainly operates a temporary staffing business, and in June 2022, a second store, "Soba Sakana Dokoro Shimizuya," opened in Nihonbashi. The most popular item is the soba and mini katsu-don set (C set). Tempura is also recommended, with squid tempura and then spring chrysanthemum tempura being popular choices. Toppings like fried egg and chili peppers are all you can add. There are also many original menu items, such as the "Shau Shau Octopus Wiener Soba," topped with Shawessen's octopus wiener, and stamina menu items using a lot of garlic, such as the "Powerful Tsukemen" and "Hustle Don," as well as seasonal menu items like the Matsutake mushroom soba (1,500 yen), which is priced aggressively for a standing soba shop. The broth has a strong umami flavor, the noodles are soft, and while it may not be top-notch standing soba shop quality, the taste is decent with a wide range of options. Being a small business with chain store prices, it may be worth a visit for a casual meal. Thank you for the meal!

Went solo to Shoushou Takokai Naa Soba in Taito, Taito. It's located near Life on Kiyosu Bridge Street. The standout dish is the Shauwessen, which is like a takoyaki turned into a sausage with 3 pieces. Surprisingly, it goes well with soba. I sprinkled the super spicy chili peppers from the counter on the soba and ate it, resulting in a lot of sweating and a refreshing feeling with all pores open. #EarlyMorningShimizuyaClub #NoodleRoadFirst #SobaForBreakfast

I had the Hustle Don at a casual soba restaurant located on Kiyosu Bridge Street, running north to south between Akihabara and Asakusabashi. This area (between Asakusabashi and Akihabara) has many standing soba shops, and the lineup changes depending on the traffic lights. The name is like a game of dice, it's nice. The Hustle Don has a strong presence compared to the Stamina Don, with large pieces of pork that go well with the garlic sweet and spicy sauce and egg yolk. The seasonal menu has a variety of new items, and I received energy and vitality. It seems like they have opened another store in Bakurocho as well.

Highly rated restaurant during lunchtime on November 14, 2022. However, I don't visit this place often for some reason. Maybe it's because I end up going to places like "Sobaya," "Ichiyoshi," or "Rokumon Soba Nippori" before coming here. Another reason is that they use "Mura Men," which is not to my liking. I was surprised to see a sign at the storefront advertising "Matsutake Soba" with domestically sourced matsutake mushrooms. I wondered if they were harvested at the owner's family home. After much deliberation, I decided to go with the classic "Geso Tempura" soba. Unlike before, there were no tempura items displayed on the counter. Perhaps this was a COVID-19 precaution? Usually, I end up ordering extra tempura when I see them displayed at the counter during payment, but on this day, there were none. A rare sight at a standing soba shop on this day was that the Geso Tempura was being heated up in a toaster oven. This is not something that most places do, so I was delighted. Moreover, the Geso Tempura here had plenty of onions, making it delicious. Although it was a bit pricier than my average, it was within an acceptable range.
