I ate too much for dinner, but I wanted to show my support so that this restaurant doesn't go out of business. I can't visit often, so I ordered the Special Meat Rice in Large Portion. The dish includes various vegetables such as Mitsuba, simmered daikon, and burdock. Although there is less meat, the dish is different from a beef bowl, with a unique texture, rich fat, and beef aroma. The strong soy sauce flavor blends well with the vegetables and egg. The brown colors and textures of the ingredients make the dish enjoyable. The tofu is not as large as before, but it seems to be for better flavor absorption. I used to move the ingredients to a separate bowl of rice and enjoy the seasoned rice first. It's a shame that many other shops have closed, but I'm glad I could make it to this second location. Both this and the Shinbashi branch are conveniently accessible from my place with only one transfer. I hope there will be a new branch closer to my neighborhood or with a parking lot for easy access.

I had dinner at "Niku Meshi Okamoto" (Okachima) yesterday. A famous shop in front of Shinbashi Station recently opened a branch. Every time I passed by, I thought "I should go", but I couldn't due to Sumida Ward PayPay campaign, etc... Finally, I was able to make my first visit last night. I aimed for the limited-time "Niku Jaga Don" but when I went to the ticket machine in the store, there was a sign saying "Sold out for today"! So, I reluctantly ordered the "Yasai Niku Meshi (¥979)". I handed over the ticket and as soon as I sat down, it was served in just 2-3 minutes. As expected, no, the amount of vegetables was a little more than expected. I was satisfied. The seasoning of the meat and tofu was a bit sweet, which didn't quite suit my taste as I prefer something spicier. Payment can be made with cash, credit card, or electronic money, and I paid with auPAY. The convenience (distance from the station, ease of payment), simplicity, and speed of service are comparable to other fast food restaurants. It's not self-service, but there was a pitcher of oolong tea on the table for unlimited refills. Some people may get hooked on this place... I also received a discount coupon for my next visit. Thank you for the meal.

Counter, ticket shop turnover was good, and the serving time was short. Special meat rice The rich broth soaked into the meat tofu, which went well with the rice. The egg was firm, and the daikon was cooked until soft. The pickled ginger complemented the dish well. Shallow pickles on top of the meat rice Shallow pickles, grated yam, and pickled ginger were served on top. Perfect for a hot day, leaving a refreshing taste in the mouth.

I visited around 1 pm on a weekday. There was no wait. I bought a meal ticket inside the restaurant and sat at the counter seat. This time, I ordered the beef sukiyaki rice bowl for 979 yen and added simmered daikon radish for 143 yen. The bowl arrived in about 2 minutes after I sat down. The presentation was impressive. The meat was sliced lean beef, not marbled. It was not very tender, more on the chewy side. Under the meat, there was tofu hidden. The daikon radish was delicious with the flavor soaked in all the way through. It was so tasty that just the daikon radish alone made the rice go down smoothly! The complimentary tea service was nice too. Thank you for the meal!

When I went to Ueno to play, I visited this place for the first time. It's not a ramen place, but more of a meat dish place, so I decided to give it a try. It was a counter-style setup inside, and as expected, there were a lot of foreigners there. I ordered the standard meat rice bowl, and it was really delicious with the tofu soaking up the sauce. I was looking for a ramen restaurant in the Ueno area for lunch, but all the popular places with foreign tourists had long lines. I happened to see a well-known chain restaurant, so I bought a ticket for the special meat and rice bowl at the vending machine. The counter served the dish in a few minutes. It was similar to a beef bowl, with meat and other ingredients simmered in a large pot and served on top of rice. The meat was tender and well-cooked, and the sweet and salty sauce paired well with the rice. The diced meat was cooked with onions, and there were also eggs, daikon radish, and tofu on top. The sliced daikon soaked up the soup and burst with flavor when bitten into. The tofu was soft and absorbed the soup, complementing the rice well. The overall balance of the dish was great, easy to eat, and I finished it in no time. I will definitely be coming back! Since the revival of Okamura-ya, I have been wanting to visit the restaurant for a long time. Finally, last month I was able to go to the shop in the New Shinbashi Building. The taste seems to be clearer compared to the Okamura-ya days. I remember the taste being darker and richer in the past... or is it just my memory being overwritten by the shock I felt when I ate the meat rice bowl at a new soba restaurant by the Skylark Group a month ago and thought, "Ah, this tastes like the old Okamura-ya bowl"? When I ate there last month in Shinbashi, I thought, "It's delicious as always!" and wondered, "Is it even better than before?" but also felt that the taste was a bit light. I had work in Nippori and could have gone home with just one transfer at Kuramae on the Oedo Line, but I took a detour to Ueno Station in search of the meat rice bowl. It's worth it. Old Dela meat rice bowl equals special meat rice bowl... The taste was more solid at the shop in Nippori ♡ Perhaps the sauce was just simmered down or the sauce was slightly more watery with the toppings at the shop in Nippori, making it taste better than when I ate it in Shinbashi. It's possible that the taste can vary depending on the shop or the time, so it may have been just a coincidence that "it tasted better than in Shinbashi," but the opposite could also be true. With a dish that requires long simmering, maintaining a consistent flavor and aroma in the sauce must be quite difficult. Perhaps that's one of the reasons why the popular Okamura-ya decided to temporarily withdraw. But, it's delicious, so I hope it continues to thrive. And, although the onion-like red pickled ginger on the table is ingeniously tasty, I would like to see mustard and shichimi pepper back on the table like in the old days...

I felt like trying something different for a change, so I visited "Niku Meshi Okamoto Okachimachi" in Ueno, Tokyo. The restaurant is located in the same space where the "Katsuya" chain used to be, and I found out that they are operated by the same group. The ordering system is through a ticket machine near the entrance, and the seating is only at the counter. It's a great place to stop by and enjoy a meal alone. The "Niku Meshi" served here is a different kind of rice bowl compared to Gyudon. It has a stew-like flavor and comes with a large piece of tofu by default. The standard "Niku Meshi" costs 759 yen, which may be slightly higher for a rice bowl chain, but the unique taste makes it worth it. They also provide "ginger onion" as a side dish at the counter, which surprised me with its different taste from regular pickled ginger.

I chose this shop in Ueno for cashless payment. It was a delicious dish of tender simmered beef, beef tendons, flavorful marinated egg, tofu, and other toppings on rice. I ordered the bean sprout and meat rice in extra-large size with green onions as toppings. The true highlight of this dish is the egg. When you mix the egg provided on a separate plate, the rich seasoning becomes milder and incredibly delicious. The extra-large size may make the meat seem less, so it's better to order extra meat as well.

In front of Okachimachi Station, there are many attractive shops. I was in the mood for meat rice, so I visited "Nikumeshi Okamoto Okachimachi Store" and ordered meat rice with negi-tare. The negi-tare on top of the meat rice was more than I had imagined. The negi-tare had a strong tartar flavor, which overshadowed the taste of the meat rice. I think it would be irresistible for those who like tartar, but I cannot recommend it to those who want to enjoy the taste of the meat rice. It gave me the impression of a menu targeted towards tartar lovers.

Today's lunch was meatball rice with miso-based simmered beef tendons and miso-based simmered tofu with egg topping. It's a bit junky, but I like this kind of food. It was delicious. Adding a raw egg on top might make it even better, haha.

At Okamoto in Ueno, I ordered the special meat rice in large size. The restaurant used to be Katsuya but rebranded as Okamoto Meat Rice. The seats at Katsuya were cramped so I didn't go often, but I'm happy that they renovated and now have more spacious seating. I selected the special meat rice and large size. The special meat rice was even better than when I had it in Shinbashi before. The meat was tender and juicy, which was great. The burdock added a nice texture contrast. However, the best part was the daikon radish. The flavor was so rich and delicious. Arkland, please consider opening more Okamoto Meat Rice locations.

I had been curious for a while, but during lunchtime there was always a long line on the narrow sidewalk so I gave up. Finally, on a Sunday after 3:00 PM, the restaurant was not crowded so I was able to enter. Inside, there were two ticket machines on the left side. One of them is for cashless payments only. After purchasing a ticket from the machine, you hand it to the staff behind the counter. Since it was my first time, I ordered the regular meat rice bowl. I was not directed to a specific seat, so I sat at an empty table. Water is self-service. The cups are hidden behind the pot on the counter. When I tried to pour water, the stacked cups tilted, which was a bit scary. The food was served in 2-3 minutes after handing in the ticket. The large chunks of tofu caught my eye. The meat looked soft and was generously piled on top, giving the dish a rich color and flavor. However, when I picked up the bowl... ugh! It was sticky. I wish they had wiped it clean before serving. Despite that, I dug in. The meat was indeed tender and flavorful, although not as strong as I expected. The tofu was like leftover grilled tofu from a sukiyaki dish the next day, but it made for a satisfying side dish. It would be delicious with a raw egg on top. And just as I thought that, a tray with a raw egg, green onions, and a free coupon for miso soup was brought to me. Thank you for the meal.

The food is incredibly delicious! I love spicy food, and the limited-time menu item happens to be spicy. I am very satisfied. The restaurant is also clean and the counter seats are quite spacious. The food arrived quickly, which I think is wonderful. By the way, the portion size is quite generous!

I was interested in "Niku Meshi Okamoto" in Shinbashi, but it was a bit far, so I hesitated. However, I found out that they have a branch in Okachimachi, so I decided to visit there. I purchased a ticket for their special meat rice and miso soup at the entrance, and the order was served promptly. The tofu and daikon radish, simmered to perfection, had a delicious flavor. I struggled a bit with the ticket machine to purchase my meat dish ticket, but eventually managed to buy it. All the staff were women, working cheerfully and energetically. The space between the fixed chairs and the counter was a bit tight for my overweight self. The sweet simmered sauce that I like was well soaked into the meat, daikon radish, tofu, and boiled egg. Mixing it with a little extra soy sauce over rice with a spoon was just irresistible.

If you're interested in this place, be sure to save it by clicking the save button at the bottom right of the screen. The restaurant is called "Nikumeshi Okamoto Ueno Branch". As you walk around Ueno, you'll feel the strong aura of meat lovers, and when you turn around, you'll see that restaurant! Even though you just ate, your meat-loving soul won't let you pass by. It seems like this restaurant has evolved from the beloved but now closed Nikumeshi Okamura-ya. The visual appeal is outstanding, and the price is surprisingly only 1090 yen! I was thinking of having ramen at a restaurant within walking distance from the hotel, but I found a delicious-looking restaurant on the way and decided to go in. The pricing seems a bit high, but I think it was good to be able to enter the restaurant casually. I would like to try various toppings as well.

Originally operated by Arkland, which also runs Katsuya and home centers, Okamura started in Shinbashi. I was introduced to it by a friend and was blown away by how delicious it was. I thought it would become popular, but for some reason, the number of stores decreased. Shinbashi is the last store standing, an endangered species. But then, unexpectedly, the store changed its name and a new store opened in Ueno. This is the first step towards nationwide expansion. Please open stores all over Japan as soon as possible! In any case, it's delicious, with lots of ingredients like green onions. Delicious, one of the best chain restaurants.

On weekdays at 3:00 PM, the place was moderately crowded. The basic meat rice bowl costs around 700 yen, which is quite reasonable, but the meat itself was just average. It didn't seem to go well with the rice. Other than that, it might be delicious... I would have been happier if there was a little less fat in the meat.

After letting the May blues linger for a long time, I decided to visit this restaurant in June because I felt like I could eat without a care in the world. As expected, everything was brown except for some green leaves. I realized that happiness is brown as I ordered a bowl. They also have set meals here, similar to the ones you would find in areas like Shinbashi, popular among office workers. This is a new restaurant, so even women can easily come in. Before I knew it, I had reached the bottom of the bowl. I think the first few bites were the best, savoring the deliciousness, and then it became a routine of just eating away. If Sukiya has Satomi Ishihara, then Okamoto could have me as their spokesperson, as I devoured the meal with such enthusiasm! This place is perfect for a quick escape, like a summer vacation in a flash.
