Family of two visited the restaurant. I had the tempura soba, while my family had the pork cutlet set. Both dishes cost around 1200 yen. The tempura had a generous amount of shrimp and was very satisfying. There was only one sauce dish for both the soba dipping sauce and tempura dipping sauce, which was a bit unclear. We dipped the tempura and soba in the same dish with grated daikon. The pork cutlet set came with a choice of kake or zaru soba. It was a bit too much for a woman with the mini size set and tanuki soba. The pork cutlet was described as average. The restaurant has counter seats, making it easy for solo diners. The portion size of the soba was generous and the restaurant offers good value for the price. However, the service was quite indifferent. The staff did not engage with customers and lacked energy in their interactions. Payment can be made with a QR code, but it requires permission to use the camera on your phone. I had intended to use Rakuten Pay but ended up paying with cash because I couldn't use the camera in time. We did not receive a receipt, and it was unclear if it was forgotten or not provided unless requested. The walls in the restaurant have a rough design, so leaning back against them at a table could potentially cause discomfort to your back.

On Wednesday it was 36℃, humid with light rain then clearing up. I entered the restaurant at 12:01 and there were already 2 groups of 5 customers. I ordered the lunch special which was vegetable rice bowl with cold soba noodles for ¥1,210. The soba noodles were hand-made, thin and various lengths, served with a rich dipping sauce. The portion was a bit small but had a delicious flavor. The vegetable rice bowl included 2 pieces of chicken breast, eggplant, lotus root, onion, with a flavorful sauce, cucumber, and pickled daikon radish. By the time I finished my meal, the restaurant was full.

I got a haircut at a barber shop near Sugiayama Park. Since it was the last day of summer vacation, the barber shop was fully booked. I left the barber shop a little after 11:30 am and decided to stop by "Handmade Noodles?? Shikian" for lunch. I ordered the lunch menu, which was "Cold Tempura Soba". The large prawn tempura was very delicious. The prawn miso was also tasty, making it a delicious tempura. I would definitely recommend stopping by this soba restaurant when you're in the area. Thank you for the meal!

I'm not sure if it's the boiling water or the soup base, but there's a slightly concerning smell. The noodles are thick and labeled as handmade, but I think machine-made would be just fine. They also have a daily special for lunch, so it might be nice to have a bowl while enjoying a drink in the afternoon.

I got a haircut at a barber shop near Sugiyama Park in the morning. Since it was lunchtime, I stopped by "Shikian" near Shin-Nakano Station for lunch. The restaurant was crowded and almost full. Today's lunch set was a tempura bowl with taro sprouts, imitation crab, shimeji mushrooms, and lotus root, along with a small portion of soba noodles. The taro sprouts had a nice bitterness to them, and the soba noodles were delicious. I heard they are closed on Sundays and holidays, so next time I want to try the tempura soba. It was really tasty. Thank you for the meal!

I visited this restaurant based on a friend's recommendation. I had the lunch set with zaru soba and tempura, and I was surprised by the portion size when it was served! Not only the amount of soba, but also the size of the shrimp tempura was huge! And the taste was also surprising! Both of us ordered this lunch set, so we struggled to finish it haha. I was also interested in the mini katsudon, so I ordered it all at once and slightly regretted it later haha. The mini katsudon was not mini at all, it was big and hearty, hot and delicious. Even though I was full, I could finish it because it was so tasty! It is relatively close to Shin-Nakano station, so the access is good. I recommend those who live nearby or work nearby to use it for lunch! It seems to be run by a family, and I felt a warmth from them.

I missed the timing for lunch and visited in the evening. I had a large serving of soba noodles with a mini tempura rice bowl (with less rice) and soba shochu mixed with hot soba water. The tempura rice bowl had a lack of sauce and the flavor was not very clear. Towards the end, I dipped the tempura in the soba noodle dipping sauce. The soba noodles were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The chicken karaage set meal for 1100 yen is my favorite here. The karaage here has a smooth texture, similar to FamilyMart's Famichiki but spicier. It's closer to KFC's crispy chicken than their original recipe. I don't mind the crunchy texture, but it lacks the true karaage flavor. It also comes with soba noodles, and the cost performance is not bad.

I was drawn in by the sign saying "Tarano Me Ten Hajimemashita" at the entrance and decided to enter. I had the impression that there were no good restaurants near Shin-Nakano station (some were temporarily closed). It was my first time visiting, but the service was pleasant and the menu was extensive. There were also plenty of soba dishes, making it a place I would like to visit regularly. I ordered the Tarano Me Soba with Anago Tempura on the side (at this point, it was tough to resist ordering a beer). The soba was also generous in portion, and it was a relaxing place to dine. I will definitely come back!

I feel like I've been here before, but I don't remember what I ate. It's amazing that they've been in business for 70 years. The lunch service had a discount, so I chose the kitsune soba for 650 yen and added extra noodles for 200 yen. The kitsune wasn't juicy and lacked the flavor of fried tofu. The broth was sour and lacked depth, it would have been better with some soy sauce flavor. The soba noodles were uneven in thickness, maybe they are hand-made. The extra noodles for 200 yen didn't seem like a lot. The waitress was trying her best, but I probably won't go back.

I had lunch today at the long-established soba restaurant "Shikian" in Shin-Nakano. The nearest station is Shin-Nakano Station on the Marunouchi Line, just a 1-minute walk away. The restaurant is located along Ome Kaido near the Suginoyama Park intersection, and it was founded in 1951, celebrating its 70th anniversary as a traditional soba restaurant. Inside the restaurant, there was an electric stone mill for grinding buckwheat, which was in operation. Posters promoting "Tokyo Nihachi Soba" and the arrival of Hitachi Aki Soba from Shimotsuma City, Ibaraki Prefecture were displayed. It seemed to be a family-run business, with an elderly couple and a younger couple managing the place. Although I wanted to try the "Duck Seiro," I opted for today's lunch set. The meal arrived about 6 minutes after ordering. Today's lunch set included "Clam and Shellfish Tempura Donburi with Hime Seiro," along with wasabi, green onions, pickles, and soba broth. I first tried the "Hime Seiro" soba, which had hand-cut, slightly uneven, medium-thick flat noodles with a good texture. The broth had a rich Kanto-style flavor with a strong dashi base, and I enjoyed it with a soup-to-soba ratio of 4:1. The tempura donburi with freshly fried clams and shellfish was a decent size and satisfying. The soba broth came in a tokkuri labeled "sobayuiri" and was served alongside the soba.

A traditional soba and udon restaurant loved by locals♡ When I first entered, I found it to be a cozy place where even solo diners feel welcome! They have a stone mill as you enter, and seating options include counter and table seats. The handcrafted noodles for both soba and udon are a delight! The menu offers a wide variety of choices, making it hard to decide what to order. I went with my favorite, kenchin udon, which is not commonly found on menus. The winter-exclusive dish was available all year round, which was a pleasant surprise. The kenchin udon had plenty of large vegetables and even chicken, which was a unique touch. The flavorful and rich soup was a highlight. I look forward to returning when restrictions ease to enjoy a leisurely meal with some drinks!

I always visit this soba restaurant for lunch. The soba set menu is very satisfying and filling, so I often go there when I'm in the mood to eat a lot. The appetizer menu is also attractive, so I visited for the first time at night for some drinks. The customers in the restaurant are mostly older, creating a calm atmosphere where you can enjoy your soba slowly. It was a very nice experience!

Regarding the soba noodles, opinions are divided which piqued my interest. The friendly atmosphere (with greetings like "welcome") is nice, and as long as the food is delicious, that's all that matters. The soba noodles are advertised as being hand-made. As I was contemplating what to order, the person next to me requested a steamed dish, so I decided to try something else! Watching their dish being served, I could tell the portions were generous, so I knew I would be satisfied. I ended up ordering the alternative soba noodles, and the fried eggplant was freshly cooked, with a great aroma of sesame oil and a nice crispy texture. The background music was old-fashioned, but the restaurant itself was clean and tidy, making it a good place to fill your stomach.

Next to Nakano Police Station (temporary building), there was a soba restaurant that caught my eye every time I went to the police station. I finally got to visit. I ordered the tororo zaru soba. I didn't ask for a large serving, but the amount of soba was generous. I quietly muttered "yay" to myself. The tororo was sticky and chewy, almost like mochi. It was not easy to mix with the soba, but it had a solid texture. Sometimes there were soba noodles of different thickness, because they were hand-made. The thin, firm soba had a good aroma. The other side dishes besides soba also looked delicious, so I want to go back next time for drinks.

Recently, I noticed that the restaurant was under construction, and it reopened at the end of October 2019 with a new look. It used to have a nostalgic atmosphere of an old-fashioned soba restaurant, but now it has been transformed into a bright and stylish modern establishment. I was seated at the new counter seats, which gave off a bit of a pub-like vibe. The overall ambiance seems more comfortable and inviting for longer stays now (although this may vary from person to person). The soba noodles and dishes remained unchanged, so I hope they continue to thrive in the local community. The renovated interior features a new counter with a view of the kitchen behind it. It feels more open compared to before, and this kind of layout seems to be a recent trend (I've seen similar setups at other Italian restaurants and on TV). I tried the seiro soba (650 yen including tax), which had a slightly uneven and hand-cut appearance, and a generous portion (opting for a large serving would be quite filling), similar to my previous experiences. The soba noodles are said to be from Masyu in Hokkaido, although I didn't confirm if they were the same as before. There were introductions to Masyu soba and banners with "Masyu soba" displayed outside, emphasizing the origin more prominently. This may also be considered a modern touch. When the restaurant closed for renovation, I initially worried it might be permanent, but I was relieved to see it reopen as I didn't want to see it go. I look forward to visiting again.

The tempura in the Tempura Soba for 1650 yen was quite lukewarm today. It didn't feel hot and was a bit soggy. Maybe it was because the previous customer had a similar order. I have to give this a minus point this time. I hope for better next time. I feel like the dipping sauce has become richer than before, which is nice. Thank you for the meal.

Fried chicken set meal for 1100 yen. It's not cheap, but it's delicious! I'm used to the typical fried chicken places, so I was pleasantly surprised by how good this fried chicken was. The portion was generous and I left very satisfied.

Vegetable tempura soba for 1100 yen. The hand-made soba noodles have a good amount of volume and the uneven texture is not bad. The moderate crowd allows for a calm dining experience, so it's good.

Pork cutlet rice bowl for 1000 yen. It seems that lard is used for frying oil. Rich flavor. Thank you for the meal.
