I had lunch at "Takamaru Sengyo-ten 2nd Branch" in Nishi-Shinjuku. The nearest station is a 3-minute walk from Toei Oedo Line Shinjuku Nishiguchi Station and an 8-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station Nishiguchi. The daily lunch special that day was grilled blackthroat seaperch, horse mackerel fry, and a mini sashimi platter. Other lunch menu items included "My Seafood Bowl," "Uni & Ikura Bowl," and "Hokkai Bowl." I was impressed by how quickly the food was served after ordering, in about 3 minutes. The set included grilled blackthroat seaperch, horse mackerel fry, mini sashimi platter, miso soup, and rice in a bowl. The mini sashimi platter consisted of 2 slices of young yellowtail, sea bream, and seared saury, with fresh wasabi which was a nice touch. The grilled blackthroat seaperch was served opened up with grated radish, and it was delicious with the radish. The freshly fried tender horse mackerel fry was served with sauce. The rich and luxurious miso soup with plenty of fish pieces was a bit strong in flavor for me, perhaps because it was the first soup I had since returning from Kansai. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the fish dishes (sashimi, fry, grilled fish) and left the lunch feeling very satisfied.

Located in a building where eateries line up in the west direction of Seibu Shinjuku Station, this izakaya is the second branch near the first one. It is a place where people come to drink, but it is also fine to visit alone. The atmosphere of the staff was good when I visited, and the service was highly rated. I ordered the popular 3 kinds of sashimi bowl (1,680 yen) which included yellowtail, salmon, and minced tuna. There are several types of soy sauce to choose from, so it's a good idea to pick the one that suits you. The miso soup had fish in it and was very delicious.

It's been a while since I visited this place nearby, so I decided to go in. I was curious about the main branch as well, but it seemed a bit intimidating to enter, so I ended up here instead. I ordered the Takamaru set meal for 1200 yen, which included salmon, tuna, yellowtail, grilled mackerel (vinegared), egg, grilled horse mackerel (vinegared), and sea bream? sea bass? It had a lineup that reminded me of summer. At first glance, I was worried if my son, who has a big appetite, would be satisfied with this, but it turned out to be just needless worry. He finished it in no time and said he was "full," and indeed, the thick slices of sashimi were different from the usual thin slices. I wanted another bowl of miso soup, but the staff seemed busy and it was hard to get their attention... (Could it be a strategy? haha)

I visited Takamaru Sengyo-ten 2nd branch in Nishi-Shinjuku, with a rating of 3.49 on Tabelog. It is located near Kotakibashi Street. Takamaru Sengyo-ten benefits from having a parent company that is a fishmonger with purchasing rights at Tsukiji (Central Wholesale Market), allowing them to buy fresh fish directly. The Takamaru set meal costs 1,200 yen and comes with rice and miso soup (free refills). You order by looking at the menu posted in front of the register, pay, and then wait at your table. As it was my first visit, I ordered the classic Takamaru set meal with a smaller portion of rice. There are three types of soy sauce on the table. The set meal arrived soon after... and it was a stunningly luxurious boat-shaped platter!! The sashimi slices were quite thick, with tuna, bonito, salmon, yellowtail, grilled mackerel, and more - it was more like a mountain than a boat. There was no fishy smell, everything was fresh and delicious. You can have seconds of the miso soup. I would be happier if the rice was a bit more fluffy and glossy. Many people were enjoying the daily special set meal (1,100 yen) which comes with a mini sashimi platter, simmered tuna, and fried white fish - all in main course portions and looked delicious. There are also many eel dishes on the menu. I arrived on a rainy weekday around 11:30, with 2 groups of customers already there and more coming in. It's not a cheap place, and the shopping baskets are beer crates, giving it a wild feel, but it's definitely a great place for a fish lunch.

I wanted to eat sashimi, so I went to Takamaru Sengyo-ten. Since the 4th store near Okubo Station was crowded, I visited the 2nd store and was able to enter smoothly. The Takamaru set meal had a generous amount of sashimi and was delicious with good freshness. As others have mentioned, the rice was a bit dry, but considering the cost performance, it is acceptable. I would like to try visiting the restaurant at night next time.

Visited for a drinking party with friends. The popular restaurant was reserved by the organizer, known for its delicious and affordable sashimi. Despite arriving a little early for the reservation, we were made to wait outside even though there were empty tables. The ordering and serving of dishes seemed like a well-oiled machine, focusing on providing value for money. The summer oysters were small but tasty, and the sashimi assortment had mostly tender fish. However, the flounder was disappointingly mushy, possibly due to poor preparation. The overall dishes were on the sweeter side, like the croquettes, grilled squid, and oysters with ponzu sauce, which may be a matter of personal preference. The restaurant was bustling with noise from customers' conversations, making it hard to talk. If only the quality of the fish was a bit higher, it would have been even better.

The portion sizes at Takamaru are huge. Today's daily special set meal included grilled mackerel, simmered tuna, and a mini sashimi plate. Each dish was three times larger than expected. The miso soup was also filled with plenty of ingredients. As always, Takamaru never fails to satisfy.

Today I ordered the daily lunch special for the first time. The side dishes included sashimi, grilled fish collar, and fried tuna. I was surprised by the generous portion size. The grilled fish collar was so big that it filled me up on its own, along with another half-sized collar. It came with grated daikon radish and lightly pickled eggplant, which was a nice addition. The fried dish consisted of 5 or 6 pieces of fried tuna on a bed of shredded cabbage, along with some other kind of fry (possibly crab cream croquette, although I couldn't eat it all due to being full). The sashimi included a piece each of tuna, shrimp, yellowtail, sea bream, and squid, and I was very satisfied with the quality. The meal also came with unlimited white rice and a hearty miso soup. Not only was the portion size generous, but the taste was excellent, making it a great value lunch. I always leave satisfied whenever I visit Takamaru Fresh Fish Store 2nd Branch.

After moistening my throat with a glass of sake, it's time for today's main dish, "fish." When it comes to fish, it's "Takamaru," but this time I decided to visit their second branch for the first time. Compared to the main branch, the "wild feeling" is less here, but if you're on a date or for lunch, this might be a better choice. I started with a bottle of beer and ordered the "local fish trio," switching to a mode of chilled sake. Takamaru is known for "Takashimizu" sake. Afterwards, I tried the "smelt fish," "raw fish paste," and "tsubugai" to start strong, and finished with the famous "rolled omelette" and "deep-fried fish paste." I think I had about four glasses of chilled sake (lol). Next time, I might visit a different Takamaru fish store.

In terms of taste, it may not be as high-end as a luxury sushi restaurant or Japanese restaurant, but it is hearty. I think the price is good considering the quality. ⚫︎Both the drinks and food are overall high cost-performance. It's a lively restaurant, so come with a lively group of friends.

I entered the shop and tried calling out a few times, but the staff didn't notice me and I was left waiting for a while. Just when I was thinking of leaving, I was finally shown to a seat! You need to order the menu before sitting down. ◆ Food I ordered the Takamaru set meal for 1200 yen. The beautifully arranged large pieces of sashimi were fresh and delicious! I thought the rice would be at the bottom of the sashimi, but it was actually served in a separate bowl! It's easier to eat that way. The soup that came with it was also very tasty with a fish broth flavor! I later found out that you can have free refills of rice and soup. The sashimi varies slightly depending on the day. Seafood is incredibly delicious! The fresh seafood and sashimi are very thick and satisfying to eat. The simmered dishes are also delicious, with the meat being cooked so well that it falls apart easily. If you plan to go on a holiday, it's difficult to get a table without a reservation.

The drink-all-you-can deal is great for customers, and it's wallet-friendly at 10,000 yen for two people. I wanted to eat seafood this day, so I searched in Shinjuku and ended up here. The atmosphere of the restaurant is like a casual eatery, and the seafood dishes were decent. It wasn't the typical cheap and bad quality place, but rather a place where you can enjoy good food at a reasonable price. I ordered the course with all-you-can-drink option this time, but I also want to try ordering a la carte dishes next time. The cost performance is good, so I will probably come back again.

In May, the weather has been unusually hot during the day and cold at night, making it difficult to manage indoor temperature and clothing. While wandering around after three restaurants on my list turned out to be closed, my boss suggested going to "Takamaru." When I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by a faint fishy smell, reminiscent of a wholesale market. The ordering process was done in advance, with only PayPay or cash accepted. I ordered a Negitoro bowl. The menu was diverse, offering options like sashimi assortment bowls and shrimp fry set meals. My bowl arrived in about 7 minutes, and there were three different types of soy sauce available - "Mio Tsukushi" with high sweetness, "Shimosa soy sauce" with a mild taste, and "Murasaki Kiwami" with a rich flavor. I chose Murasaki Kiwami, which paired well with the tuna on my bowl. The soy sauce made the meal easy to eat and enjoyable. I would definitely go back!

I ordered the "Daily Lunch Set," which on that day included "Natural King Salmon," "White Fish Fry," "Mini Sashimi Platter," and rice and miso soup, all for a great value of 1,100 yen. Lunchtime requires payment upfront before being seated. The "Daily Lunch Set" arrived in about 4-5 minutes, featuring thick slices of "Natural King Salmon" and two pieces of white fish fry. The luxurious fish set meal with great taste, volume, and cost performance is truly satisfying. The miso soup was also flavorful with fish essence. Visiting during lunchtime, you can enjoy a fulfilling fish lunch that makes you want to keep eating delicious food without returning to work. I thoroughly enjoyed the "Daily Lunch Set." Feeling a bit extravagant today, I decided to go for the most expensive option, the premium bowl! I originally wanted the Hokkai bowl but it was sold out, so I went with the premium bowl instead. It was loaded with plenty of sea urchin and salmon roe, with fresh and delicious squid, Spanish mackerel, and yellowtail. Each piece was thick and satisfying. Takamaru also offers a variety of soy sauces to enjoy with your meal. Overall, it was delicious! However, if you're looking for great value, I recommend the Takamaru set meal or the namaaka-don. Maybe I'll try their grilled fish next time. Thank you for the feast!

Before watching a movie, I went out to have a light dinner. Since the main building was full, I used the annex for the first time on this day. I visited alone at 6:53 PM on Wednesday. There were about 6-7 customers already inside. The place was not crowded. The menu should be the same as the main building. As soon as I sat down, I was served a small appetizer and a wet towel. I ordered a bottled beer. Sapporo Red Star in a medium bottle (500ml) was brought to me. It was delicious! The appetizer consisted of kelp, hijiki seaweed, fried tofu, and sesame seeds. For the main dish, I was thinking about having grilled fish, and after considering between Pacific saury or salmon belly, I ended up ordering grilled salmon belly. It took about 10 minutes for the dish to be ready after ordering. The belly part is the best part around the bones! It had a good amount of fat and was very tasty. Of course, it was not too salty. I enjoyed it with grated radish, soy sauce, and shichimi togarashi on the table. The total bill was 2290 yen. There was a QR code for PayPay visible, so I paid with PayPay this time. Thank you for the meal.

I had the daily lunch special for lunch. I paid right after entering the restaurant using a QR code. The background music was lively and perfect for enjoying a drink. The amount of side dishes was decent. The meal was okay overall. The rice seemed a bit soft, maybe it was leftover. They also offer seafood bowls for 1100 yen, but the daily special might be a bit lacking in variety.

Reservations are essential as it gets fully booked after 6 pm. I am always surprised by the delicious seafood and generous portions. The sashimi slices are thick and large! It's a wonderful place where you can enjoy the food with your eyes and taste buds. I always end up ordering the famous 3-bucket set for 3980 yen, which is very satisfying in terms of portion size. The scallop salad and tuna are delicious, but the highlight is definitely being able to enjoy uni and ikura so luxuriously. The sake goes down smoothly! The omelette made by the chef is soaked in a flavorful broth and is very tasty. I would even love to have a soup with this broth (lol). I will definitely visit again when I crave seafood!

The main store is always crowded, but for some reason the second store is not. They offer a variety of normal dishes, including Takamaru and assorted sashimi. Today, the miso soup had plenty of fish scraps, which were delicious and tender. The sashimi was of high quality and all very good. However, I feel like I'm getting used to it and the surprise and excitement I used to feel is fading.
