JOKEJOKERX
While searching for ramen in Kichijoji, I stumbled upon the famous cup oil soba place, Bubuka. There are other popular ramen shops as well, but I decided to check this one out. Personally, when it comes to oil soba, I used to eat a lot of Takaraka in Higashi Koganei during my company dorm days, but I also enjoyed Bubuka's cup oil soba. I still eat it occasionally. The store seemed a bit hidden, but of course it was there. Nowadays, they have collaborations with famous ramen shops that change weekly, but in the past, there weren't many memorable ones. However, Bubuka's oil soba with mayonnaise has a certain junky appeal that is quite popular, including for me. I arrived around 16:55. I purchased the rich black circle chashu oil soba regular size for 980 yen with an additional mayonnaise topping for 50 yen at the ticket machine near the entrance and took a seat at the counter. Huh? The counter seats are fixed and cramped—very uncomfortable. Why fix the seats? What's the point of having a wide open space behind? I was disappointed right away. The dish arrived in about 10 minutes. It looked a bit small. With extra chashu, there were four slices of pork, along with green onions, seaweed, bamboo shoots, and narutomaki. The thick, dark sauce already coated the thick noodles, giving it a rich appearance. It looked quite intense. First, I mixed it all together. With the addition of mayonnaise, it became even more intense. I took a bite. Huh? It's not as strong as I thought. Despite being rich and oily, the flavor was smooth and comforting, making it easy to eat. The flavor wasn't overpowering, so I could eat it as it is, but I decided to add chili oil and garlic because why not. It added a nice kick. I'm glad I didn't add extra chashu as it was unnecessary. The chashu itself was delicious, but the oil soba stands out on its own, and I think unnecessary additions are not needed. In dishes like Taiwanese mixed noodles, there are variations with additional rice or toppings, but with this one, I think it's best to simply enjoy the chewy noodles coated in delicious oil. I was annoyed by the cramped seating, but the flavor left me satisfied. Cup noodles often have smaller noodles, but I think they did a good job replicating it here.
