John Lennon often visited "Yonehongo Coffee". Since 1977, John and Yoko often visited the famous store in Tsukiji, "Yonehongo Coffee". It is said that they ate the "City Blend Coffee" and sandwiches at this store. John liked the Tsukiji Outer Market and would often rush there in a taxi. Now, they are selling a "Bacon and Egg Set" as "JOHN LENNON RETURN". (Photo is from Yonehongo Coffee's Facebook page.) Of course, this is a new store, and John used to visit the main store on Harumi Street. But if John were to come now, I somehow feel like he would choose this store. I also like the atmosphere of this store. Not just the ambiance of the store, but also the people who gather here. The main store has somewhat become touristy in recent years, and there are days when it feels uneasy. As I mentioned before, this store gives me a more Tsukiji-like feeling. Since before the Tsukiji relocation, places like "Senriken", "Aiyou", and "Iwata" inside the market had become touristy, but places like "Kimuraya" in Building 1 or the back seats of "Moso Dango" always felt more relaxing. This store gives me a similar feeling. I haven't been here for over half a year. I greeted them impolitely, asking, "Can I still smoke in the back?" It seems it's not allowed anymore. Instead, they have ashtrays from JT placed outside. I ordered a "Cafe Mocha Jelly" (550 yen) – as shown in the photo. I felt like having something sweet. It was made for me with those words. At first, they said, "Shake it a little." So I started drinking it. The coffee jelly was bitter. Because the overall taste was sweet, that's how it felt. It felt like when a usually gentle person gets angry occasionally. Or maybe not... Thank you for the meal. This is a store where you can get a blend coffee for 300 yen. It's a cash-on-delivery style. It's somewhat self-service. It's not a formal store. The counter seats in this new store give off a stand coffee shop vibe. It's been quite some time since the Tsukiji Market relocated, but I still can't bring myself to go to Toyosu. Of course, I have work-related reasons to visit Tsukiji, so I come here often. But going to Toyosu feels like neglecting the familiar Tsukiji, which makes me feel somewhat guilty. Since being taken to a local sushi restaurant in Ikebukuro by the chef over 20 years ago, I frequented many stores inside the market. So, I feel like I should go. But I'm happy that the outer market is still lively. The atmosphere in this store, located on Higashi Street, resembles a stand coffee shop. I'm glad that the outer market is still lively. I haven't been to Toyosu yet. I have a feeling that this store's current atmosphere is very Tsukiji-like. Maybe I have something similar to John's "love for Tsukiji" in me... I realize now that the icon for my food log is not a dirty white paper but a White Album. ※Currently, I am uploading my favorite restaurants in the Tsukiji Outer Market area as "recommended restaurants".
