Visited after about 2 years. Before COVID, I used to come here often. This is one of the few places in Tokyo where you can eat delicious Akashiyaki (referred to as "Tamagoyaki" here). In addition to octopus, they also have Akashiyaki with mentaiko or conger eel. First, I eat the freshly made hot Akashiyaki without any toppings. The simple deliciousness of the egg spreads and it's exquisite. Then, when dipped in soup, it offers a different taste. By the way, the soup alone is delicious too! It's delicious even when it cools down! Enjoying Doteyaki and drinking a small Asahi Super Dry straight from the bottle is pure happiness. Furthermore, the fact that you can drink various One Cup Sake from different regions at a flat rate is also appealing. The food menu and whiskey selection have increased since the old days, making it even more comfortable. During the day, the owner operates the restaurant alone. Making the Tamagoyaki is quite challenging, so please order at the right timing.

I occasionally visit this place. I can have Akashiyaki and two beers for less than 2000 yen, it's very casual. It's mostly self-service, you pick what you want to drink from the fridge in the shop and enjoy it quietly. The Akashiyaki is so soft and fluffy. It's definitely different from takoyaki. Thank you for the meal!

The nearest station is Okachimachi or Suehirocho. I came here because I heard they serve Akashiyaki. A small bottle of beer costs 500 yen. It's self-service. The batter is still a bit firm, so I snack on octopus sashimi while waiting for it to cook. The Tamagoyaki costs 900 yen and has a fluffy texture with plenty of dashi flavor! There are 15 pieces, so it's quite filling. The dashi has a mild sweetness and strong saltiness. Delicious! I can't believe I can enjoy tasty Akashiyaki in Tokyo! Note.

Visited on a Sunday evening. There was seating available at the counter, so I entered right away. It's rare to find a tamagoyaki (Japanese omelette) shop. They had a wide selection of whiskies. Today, I had 15 pieces of regular tamagoyaki for 800 yen and a shochu highball with lemon for 500 yen. The place was run by a single staff member, and you get your own glass for drinks and take them from the fridge yourself. When you dip the hot tamagoyaki in the broth, the aroma spreads and the taste becomes even better. Be careful as the freshly made tamagoyaki is very hot. I found a great hidden gem away from the station.

When I walked from Akihabara to Ueno, his radar was on and he found a great restaurant! I had never tried Akashiyaki before, so I wasn't particularly interested, but it was so delicious! The broth was really tasty, and the salt and refreshing sauce complemented it perfectly. It was fun and delicious to eat! The atmosphere inside the restaurant was great too, with karaoke rankings playing on a projector, making it enjoyable for all generations. They had a wide variety of whiskies at very reasonable prices. The highball was served with the soda on the side, which you had to get from the fridge yourself. Each person also got their own water. I thought that was a nice touch. I think I'll be back for lunch as well.

I love okonomiyaki. I had bookmarked this place a while back but finally got to go since it's not an area I frequent. I had 15 pieces of akashiyaki for 800 yen. I had to wait for about 10 minutes. It was piping hot and delicious. You order drinks verbally and then grab them yourself from the fridge. Bottled beer is 500 yen each. It was not crowded when I went, but I heard it gets busy at night. It seems like the owner runs the place alone, so it might be tough when it's busy.

Just before the end of work, I was invited by a colleague. I had to work overtime, so I arrived a little late. I entered at 5:55 PM, 40 minutes late. My two colleagues were already having a good time. I started with self-service highball. Today's Akashiyaki was made with egg and conger eel. Since I joined late, I couldn't enjoy it hot, but it was as delicious as always. I enjoyed changing the taste with not only the broth but also salt and sauce. The restaurant was a bit warm, so the highball went down smoothly. It was delicious. Used for a quick drink on June 29, 2022. Rating: 3.41

After finishing work today, I decided to go out for drinks with my colleague. We were thinking of going to Ma-chan for yakitori, but when I mentioned this place, my colleague was immediately interested. We arrived at the restaurant at 5:24 pm, with only 2 other customers already there and no one else coming in after us. It had been about 2 years since my last visit, but I had been here a few times before. My colleague was unaware of the existence of this place until today. Our order for today was: - Tamagoyaki (Akashiyaki) 15 pieces for 800 yen - Special Tamagoyaki with Shiso and mentaiko 15 pieces for 900 yen - Special Tamagoyaki with Anago 15 pieces for 900 yen - Dote-yaki (3 pieces) for 450 yen - Chuhai (Lemon) for 500 yen each x 3 Drinks were self-service, and we enjoyed our favorite highball while waiting for about 20 minutes for our order. The hot Akashiyaki was delicious, especially when dipped in the sauce. We then enjoyed changing the flavors with different sauces and salt. My colleague, who used to live in Osaka, was impressed by the Akashiyaki and savored the taste. We also ordered Dote-yaki to reminisce about the taste from back then. It seemed like my colleague really enjoyed the food as they ended up treating me. We had a delicious meal on the night of April 27, 2022.

I prefer Akashiyaki over Takoyaki, so I cherish the Akashiyaki restaurants in the area I can visit! This one is quite close to the authentic taste, not like the Akashiyaki-style ones often found in Tokyo. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also nice.

I have been searching for a delicious Akashiyaki restaurant and stumbled upon one that seemed promising. They offer 15 pieces of Akashiyaki for 750 yen. The surface is rough, but nicely grilled with a good char. It gives off a sense of energy. However, the inside was powdery and I felt that it was not cooked thoroughly. Achieving the perfect Akashiyaki seems to be quite challenging.

Less than a 10-minute walk from the south exit of Okachimachi Station (closer to Akihabara) and about a 4-minute walk from Naka-Okachimachi Station, you'll find this place that serves Akashiyaki. Akashiyaki is a well-known and beloved dish. If you think Akashiyaki is similar to takoyaki, you're mistaken - it's actually the other way around. Once you try Akashiyaki, you won't be able to go back to takoyaki. Takoyaki has various flavors in the batter, while Akashiyaki is all about the dashi broth. Takoyaki is often enjoyed with beer, but Akashiyaki can be eaten at any time of the day. The fluffy texture of the batter and the savory dashi-flavored egg make for a perfect balance. The dipping dashi soup can even be mixed with a cup of sake. I also ordered the octopus, which had a delicious umami flavor. The owner may not be the best at conversation, but they are knowledgeable about the food. The restaurant has a clean and charming atmosphere. Despite the slightly inconvenient location, I find myself coming back here often. Akashiyaki may still be considered a local specialty, but once you try it here, you won't forget it.

I enjoyed authentic Akashiyaki from Kansai. I made a reservation again after liking it last time. The appetizer from last time was also very delicious and I enjoyed it. This time, I ordered a platter of salami, vinegar octopus, and dried horse mackerel, all of which were of high quality. The cheese and mushroom dish had a light saltiness and the cheese had a nice crispy crust on top. I often dine alone, but the two dishes I ordered today could easily be shared between two people for drinking, or even three people if eating lightly. The portion size and prices are very reasonable in my opinion. The Akashiyaki plate had 15 large balls, and the egg omelette was so smooth and easy to eat. Feeling full and in a good mood, I happily made my way back home.

I found this restaurant through Go To Eat. I usually search for the area I want to go on the map, but when using the campaign, the range expands and it's easier to find new encounters and discover new restaurants. I don't want to cancel, so I end up making last-minute reservations after checking my schedule. This reservation was also last minute. I love akashiyaki, so I was pleasantly surprised to find a place nearby! I found it without hesitation and made a reservation. It's located between Okachimachi and Akihabara, just off Showa Street, making it easy to visit once you know the way. The restaurant is set up like a bar counter in an old folk house, with self-service drinks which makes the prices reasonable. I ordered food and drinks within the fixed price set by Go To Eat. You can order drinks freely without worrying about the cost increasing if you go over the limit. There was a customary appetizer. The appetizer was taro... probably yatsugashira. It had a very gentle flavor and was generously portioned, making it a delightful dish with plenty of vegetables. I tried Shonan Cider, a local soda, for the first time. The light blue color was refreshing to the eyes. You can choose and serve it yourself from the fridge. There was plenty of ice in a large glass at the seat you chose. I had the akashiyaki as planned, and it was delicious. The variety of akashiyaki on the menu caught my eye, but I love akashiyaki so much that I might not try the other options (laughs). I thought it would be nice if they had a half-and-half option while looking at the menu... The sweetly grilled beef skin in the first-time grilled dish is a must-try for those who love it. It was cooked very carefully. The akashiyaki broth, the fluffy and creamy texture of the akashiyaki, and the tenderness of the octopus were all ideal for akashiyaki. I wanted to eat this classic dish. It was a very delicious akashiyaki. There are not many restaurants that reach this level, so I was delighted to find such a good place nearby and enjoyed it. I found a restaurant that I would definitely revisit. This time, with three dishes including the appetizer and a cider, I was completely satisfied for just 2,000 yen... They only open at night, but if they sold akashiyaki during the day, I would definitely come to buy some.

Today, I visited "Tai Koyui (Akashiyaki Takomusubi)" in Okachimachi. I happened to be walking nearby when I saw a sign for Akashiyaki. It seemed like a new shop, but the nostalgic atmosphere drew me in. Inside, there were three table seats and only counter seats, with what appeared to be the owner behind the counter. On the wall, there were about 30 types of whiskey brands listed, most of which could be made into highballs for 450 or 550 yen. They also had sake and wine, making it a great place for drinkers. I ordered a highball, and the whiskey was poured into a glass before being brought to my seat. I made my own highball by adding soda water from the fridge. It was affordable and fun, so I enjoyed about three highballs with different brands. The food menu consisted of Akashiyaki and snacks to pair with drinks. There weren't many options, but they all went well with alcohol. - "Dodetayaki" (3 sticks for 400 yen) had various cuts of beef tendon, allowing you to enjoy different textures with the sweet miso sauce. - "Garlic Stir-Fried Shrimp" was a recommended menu item, with tender shrimp skin and tails that could be eaten as is. It paired perfectly with the highball, and I couldn't stop eating the shrimp and drinking. - "Tamagoyaki (Akashiyaki)" (15 pieces) was a simple and fluffy Akashiyaki with delicious dashi that you could eat endlessly. - "Tamagoyaki (Mentaiko Shiso)" (15 pieces) was really tasty with plenty of mentaiko, pairing well with alcohol. I also had a cup of sake, and the total bill was around 5,000 yen. It was a cozy and delicious place that I would definitely become a regular at if it were near my home. Thank you for the meal.

I stayed in Tokyo for about a month and finished my work. It's my day off after work. After visiting Yushima Tenjin Shrine and the former Iwasaki Residence Garden, I decided to stop by this place for a light meal. It was more like a bar than a takoyaki shop, and the owner (I think) was young, which was different from what I had imagined. Feeling a bit confused, I took a seat at the counter. When asked, "What would you like to drink?" I ordered the French highball that caught my eye at the top of the menu. I was brought a glass with about one-fifth filled with ice and brown liquid, along with a bottle of soda water. (photo) Not bad. And then, a plate of 15 slightly large pieces of tamagoyaki arrived. Yes, this is how tamagoyaki should be. Soft but doesn't fall apart when lifted. The inside is soft and the octopus is tender. I started with the classic light dashi, then tried the sweet sauce and spicy sauce halfway through. Each was delicious, but I finished with dashi again. I discovered that you can enjoy delicious tamagoyaki in Tokyo as well. They also have a variety of alcoholic beverages, so if you have the chance, I recommend stopping by for tamagoyaki as a snack with drinks in mind.

In the area of Okachimachi, the popular Thai restaurant Sunosato, which was featured on the show "Honesty Walk with Yoshikun" with a rating of 3.76 on Tabelog, was my first choice for lunch. However, they were closed on weekends and holidays, so I headed to my second choice, a ramen shop. On my way there, I came across Taiyaki from Taiko, a shop that I had not noticed before. I thought they might be closed since there was no sign on the main street, but when I peeked in, the owner greeted me and invited me in. I ordered the Taiyaki for 750 yen and chose a Ramune drink for 250 yen. It was a self-service style where I had to pick up my order. It had been a while since my last visit, but the owner remembered me well. The freshly baked and hot Taiyaki, with Mitsuba leaves in dashi, melted in my mouth. I enjoyed the natural deliciousness of the Taiyaki by sprinkling rock salt on the corner of the wooden geta. I added some chili peppers to the dashi for extra flavor and enjoyed it with the Ramune drink. It was a delicious meal experience.

This is a restaurant in Okachimachi that serves delicious tamagoyaki (15 pieces for ¥750). They also offer a variety of drinks, including a Junmai sake called "Macho Woman" (80% polished) for ¥400 and a highball (Glenfarklas 105) for ¥550. In the evening, it is required to order at least one food item along with drinks. The tamagoyaki is fluffy and the selection of sake and highball is extensive. You can pour your own highball by uncorking the soda water yourself. For sake, you can bring your own bottle from the fridge. The Macho Woman sake is smooth and easy to drink, despite not being highly polished. There are not many places in Tokyo where you can enjoy akashiyaki, so this is a place to visit when you're craving it.

After work, I visited the restaurant with two colleagues. It looked crowded from the entrance, but we noticed a two-person table at the back that seemed to be available. So, we entered the restaurant right at 7:00 pm. This was my second visit in two weeks. Our order for today was horse meat stew for 450 yen, 15 pieces of tamagoyaki (Akashiyaki) for 750 yen, 15 pieces of tamagoyaki with shiso and mentaiko for 850 yen, and 3 glasses of highball for 450 yen each. The stew had a rich miso flavor that went well with the highball. It took about 20 minutes for the Akashiyaki to be served, which was a bit long considering the place was busy. My colleagues loved the delicious batter of the Akashiyaki. They recommended eating it with salt sprinkled on top. The shiso and mentaiko tamagoyaki was also tasty on its own due to its salty flavor. After enjoying our meal for about an hour, we left the restaurant satisfied. This visit was on the evening of February 7th, 2020.

First Visit @ Naka-Okachimachi Located in a quiet alley just off Showa Street towards Akihabara from Naka-Okachimachi Station, this shop is right next to the office, but I have never seen it open during the times I pass by. Today, on my way back from work, the topic came up with my colleagues, and since it's so close by, we decided to check it out. At 7:30 PM, the shop had its lights on and a lantern outside, indicating that it was open. Excited, my three colleagues and I decided to make a detour and visit the shop. Peeking inside, we saw that only the 4 counter seats were available. Since we were just planning to stop by quickly, we ordered: - Tamagoyaki (Akashiyaki) 15 pieces: 750 yen - Special Tamagoyaki with Shiso and Mentaiko 15 pieces: 850 yen - Dote-yaki (3 pieces): 400 yen For drinks, I had a lemon chu-hi for 450 yen, while my colleagues had bottled beer for the same price. The self-service drinks made me nostalgic for the High Life I used to drink, so I was in a happy mood. Soon, the dote-yaki arrived, which had a miso-based beef sinew stew-like taste, but with a chewier texture than expected. It was delicious, but I thought it could have been simmered a bit longer. The tamagoyaki came next, and being freshly made, it was fluffy and a bit tricky to pick up with chopsticks. I managed to dunk it in the broth and quickly took a bite, resulting in a hot surprise that led me to cool down with my chu-hi. I'll eat it more calmly next time; it's delicious even without the broth, with a nice salty taste. Dipping it in the broth or trying it with salt or sauce provides different flavors. As I moved on to my second chu-hi, the special tamagoyaki with shiso and mentaiko arrived. As someone who only associated tamagoyaki with octopus, this was a pleasant surprise. It was amazing! I actually prefer this over the regular tamagoyaki. I enjoyed trying it as is, with salt, sauce, or broth - all delicious options. Although the menu is limited, they offer dishes other than tamagoyaki, so I look forward to trying them next time. After finishing our meal, we left the shop after about 40 minutes. Since it's near the office, I plan to visit regularly. It was a delicious experience on the evening of January 30, 2020.
