★2014・8 revisited The best recommended tamagoyaki at the riverside, also known as "special grade", with a rich and delicious taste that may suit everyone's preferences. With the upcoming relocation of Tsukiji to Toyosu causing chaos, the atmosphere at the Tsukiji outer market is restless, with various shops coming and going. The customers are mostly foreigners or tourists, and the regular customers are almost non-existent, as lamented by the reviewer. It seems that the decision has been made for the outer market to remain, but what will happen once the main market inside is gone? It's a troublesome situation as things keep changing every time you visit next month. ★In the Tsukiji outer market, popular places include Terry Ito's family restaurant "Marutake", "Matsumi", and "Daijo". Additionally, there is "Tamayu", known for having the best tamagoyaki in town, competing with each other in terms of the amount of dashi, sweetness, and various ingredients added to the tamagoyaki. Recently, on Saturdays, you can enjoy a food walk similar to Takeshita Street in Harajuku, with each skewer costing only 100 yen. Now, this "Tamahachi Shoten" has been recommended by a friend from the riverside for several years. It's located at the end of a small street when you turn back from Shiodome Street. (I apologize for the vague directions, please refer to a guidebook for more details) I always buy the "special grade" instead of the regular one, as instructed by my friend. When I ask for "the strong one," they reply, "special grade, right?" This is also something I learned from my friend. I haven't tried the regular one, so I don't know how strong the special grade is, but if they say it's strong, then it must be (laughs). I have tried other shops as well, but the famous ones feel a bit touristy, while Tamahachi seems more like a pro's choice? Also, I don't remember the red tamagoyaki from Danchu. "Tamahachi Shoten's" special grade tamagoyaki is delicious, I like it.
