Figaro, a French restaurant in Minami Aoyama. I ended up at this restaurant after walking towards Omotesando Station due to not making it to the original restaurant I was aiming for. It turns out that many people actually come here on purpose, as it was established in 1969! The owner chef was awarded the title of "Modern Master Craftsman" by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare in 2013. The service and taste were really good, and I later found out that this place is quite renowned. It was a lucky strike that I ended up here by chance. They even put my soaking wet umbrella in a plastic bag and brought it to my table. It was almost 2 pm, nearing the end of lunchtime, but there were quite a few people starting their lunch slowly, which was nice. However, I was the only one having lunch alone. They offered three lunch options: 1600 yen, 2100 yen, and 1400 yen for pasta. I decided on the 1600 yen option which included a main dish, bread, and coffee, and chose the sautéed flounder wrapped in kataifi with tomato sauce. It's not very common to find a place that handles flounder, especially wrapped in kataifi. I briefly thought, "Is this a famous place or something?" but since my husband doesn't usually go to cafes with me, I decided to just enjoy my cafe lunch to the fullest! In the past, many restaurants used to serve water in bottles, but that's rare now. The green bottle was beautiful and pleasing. This place exuded a sense of calm. Next to me, an elderly couple was enjoying lunch with wine, and there was a lady holding a small dog, giving a bit of a European vibe. It took a bit of time, but the sautéed flounder wrapped in kataifi with tomato sauce arrived. The bread was warm and soft, and there were two varieties. The kataifi was crispy and delicious. The flounder was tender and had no fishy smell, making it very tasty. I noticed that no one else had ordered flounder. Perhaps, flounder is considered more of a Japanese cuisine ingredient. It's a shame because flounder is a high-quality ingredient and in season, especially when wrapped in kataifi! I silently thought, "Do people know about flounder wrapped in kataifi?!" If the menu mentioned "High-quality seasonal flounder wrapped in kataifi," maybe more people would order it. Japanese people eat fish, but many don't know much about it. The coffee after the meal was so delicious that it made me go, "Wow!" I even debated whether to add a dessert, but I had to consider dinner plans and sadly decided against it. However, this was a regrettable mistake on my part because I later found out that the "Quail Farci with Grapes" and the "Figaro's Tarte Tatin" are actually appointed by the Imperial Household Agency. Oh, what a fool I was! I should have tried the Tarte Tatin. Oh well, there's always next time. I will definitely visit again. To my friend living near Omotesando, I invite you to join me. The service from the staff, who opened the door wide despite the rain, was also pleasant. Thank you very much.
