I'm happy that in the Ginza area, you can enjoy high-quality tantanmen at the Higashi-Nihonbashi and Ningyocho locations. The combination of star anise, cinnamon, sesame, and Sichuan pepper creates an addictive flavor that you can't get enough of. The crispy and juicy pie crust in the Pai Ko tantanmen is delicious! I end up drinking all the soup because it's so irresistibly tasty. This tantanmen shop is a definite repeat visit for me.

I entered the shop. When it comes to Jukkenmu, I think of Paiko, but this time I chose the normal option. Actually, this time I chose the evening drink set. A drink, a snack, and ramen for less than 1,400 yen. The snacks were flavored egg, bamboo chicken, and Paiko. These are all good, with just the right amount of flavor. They actually go well not only with alcohol but also with the soup. You can adjust the firmness of the noodles and the spiciness of the soup. I went for mild with firm noodles. Here they have thin noodle tantan. But it mixes well with the soup. This soup becomes a snack. A nice unusual option for a finish in Ningyocho.

#Today's Spicy Adventure
Jugemushu at Ningyocho Station - Tantanmen and Sour Spicy Noodles - 900 yen
Spiciness Level: ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ (3)
Had a spicy adventure in Ningyocho! Visited Jugemushu for their Tantanmen noodles. Since I always eat Tantanmen, this time I decided to try something different and went for their Sour Spicy Noodles. The fact that rice is complimentary is the best part. I love Jugemushu, a great Tantanmen restaurant in Ningyocho! The simple presentation with greens, chashu, and green onions is nice. The Sour Spicy Noodles at Jugemushu have a strong vinegar taste. Recommended for those who like sour flavors. The deliciousness of the soup is just as good as their Tantanmen. Goes well with rice. Sour Spicy Noodles might be refreshing for the summer!

Located a 5-minute walk from Ningyocho Station, this restaurant offers a wide variety of menu options, with tantanmen being the main dish. They also have options like chashu tantanmen and paiko tantanmen, as well as dishes like sanramen and chuka soba. You can choose the thickness of the noodles and the level of spiciness from three options, so be sure to find your favorite combination.

I transferred to Ningyocho and arrived at Ebisu. I was thinking about eating something, but I couldn't find anything near the station, so I came to this shop. It was great that they are open all day on Saturdays since it was past lunchtime. They offer a set with a drink, snack, and the noodles I wanted, so I could enjoy it even in the afternoon. I had the tantanmen, gyoza snack, and added a bottle of beer. It also came with a light rice dish. I ordered it extra spicy, but it wasn't too hot. Thank you for the meal.

I suddenly felt like eating tantanmen, so I decided to take a walk and visit Jugenmushi-san near my office, since it is a popular spot. It was around 3:00 pm, so the restaurant was quiet. This was my second stop on a ramen restaurant hopping adventure, so I ordered the regular spiciness tantanmen (900 yen). Since it was a Saturday and a holiday, I couldn't resist upgrading to the set menu for an extra 150 yen, which came with a boiled egg and shumai. Additionally, rice was complimentary, so even though I was already full, I decided to order it! The spiciness was not too strong, but it had a nice flavor of spices and a slight acidity, making it an authentic tantanmen. The thin noodles mixed well with the sesame soup, allowing me to fully enjoy the aroma of the dish.

I ordered the Tan Tan noodles without soup (980 yen). I like spicy food but I'm not great with it, so the mild option was just right for me! The Sichuan pepper was a nice touch and I really enjoyed the flavor. Eating the leftover sauce and meat with rice was also delicious.

I visited the restaurant around 1 pm on Saturday. There were about 5 groups already seated inside. The counter seats are plenty, making it easy for solo diners to get a seat.
I ordered the soupless tantanmen for 950 yen. You can choose the level of spiciness, and I opted for mild this time because I had a previous experience with it being too spicy. When I tried it, the dish had a very creamy and rich flavor. It seemed to be mainly sesame, but I also detected a nutty aroma. It was delicious. However, I felt that the portion size was a bit small. As for the spiciness, it was almost non-existent and I found it lacking. Perhaps the mild option is meant for children or those who can't handle spice. I should have asked to confirm. Tantanmen is more enjoyable with a bit of spiciness. Thank you for the meal.

Since 2019, there has been a set menu to choose from when visiting, and I ordered the A set of the Gratitude Set for 1380 yen. It came with noodles, 2 pieces of shumai, seasoned egg, and chicken banbanji, along with a drink. It felt like a great deal. The noodles were tantanmen with medium spiciness, and I chose a highball for the drink. It arrived quickly, and I heard that rice was also included, but I asked for a smaller portion. The noodles were thin and straight, and the soup was spicy but relatively light. I was satisfied with the meal.

Visited on May 18, 2023 (Thursday) after work, wanting to have a light drink. It was my second visit. They had a convenient menu called the "Gratitude Set" where you could order alcohol, snacks, and tantan noodles all at once. I ordered Set A (Shumai, Ajitama Ban Ban Ji + Tantanmen) with a bottle of beer instead of the standard alcohol. They served the alcohol and snacks first, and you could order the noodles whenever you liked. The operation seemed challenging, but it was great for solo drinking, which I appreciated. When my snacks were running out, I ordered the noodles with firm texture and extra spicy. It reminded me of the taste at Tamachiyama-cho and Ginza, which I used to visit occasionally. When I lifted the bowl, I could smell the yuzu fragrance, and the soup was light with a hint of acidity. Although you could request firm noodles, they were still on the softer side, which seemed to be the preferred style at this restaurant. I suddenly remembered when a senior colleague took me to Ginza for a meal when I was a new graduate, and I kept eating Takuan thinly sliced with rice. Thank you for the meal!

I was torn between tantanmen and opted for the sour and spicy noodles. I decided to go with plenty of pak choi as a topping. The noodles were slightly flat and easy to slurp, with just the right balance of sourness and spiciness - not too sour or too spicy. The crispy pak choi topping added a nice accent, as if it were freshly fried. There was also a tender slice of char siu included. I'm not sure if it's worth it for the price, but I would like to visit this place again for the main dish next time.

The spiciness was mild, so the sweetness of the sesame was more noticeable than the herbal flavor. I think the herbal taste is less pronounced compared to "Hashigo" in Ginza, but the noodles here have a unique deliciousness different from the meat miso tantanmen. It also contains dried tangerine peel, which gives it a refreshing aftertaste.

It was honestly mediocre! The noodles, I guess? It seemed like it should have had more punch but it didn't! However, if it was nearby, I would want to have it with rice! I added pie crust topping to the tantanmen, but chicken topping also seemed like a good option! Thank you for the meal!

Delicious tantanmen noodles can be enjoyed at this restaurant. I visited on a holiday night and decided to go in. [Ordered items] Tantanmen noodles (900 yen) Weekend/holiday limited shumai set (150 yen) The best tantanmen noodles in the Nihonbashi area! The owner, who used to work in Ginza, makes tantanmen noodles that fans of the Ginza tantanmen noodles will definitely love! The spicy and tangy tantanmen noodles are so delicious ❤️ It's even better when eaten with rice! The shumai was also delicious! Once again, I was completely satisfied with the tantanmen noodles. If you ever feel like having tantanmen noodles in the Nihonbashi area, be sure to visit this place! (There is also a related store in Ueno) Thank you for the meal! Feel free to check out my other posts as well! I also have an Instagram (@ranko_foodie). Thank you!

Squeezed vegetable tantan noodles for 1000 yen is a shop where those who have trained through the ladder system work. The style is mostly ladder system with consistent flavors. Rice is also served. I felt that compared to the original, it was a bit saltier. It was refreshing to be able to sit at a table and relax.

It's no exaggeration to say that "Jigenmu" is a Ginza specialty, known for its pork ribs and tantanmen. Established in 2017, their signature dish is the "Paiko Tantanmen" for 1150 yen, with the option to add rice. I visited on March 14, 2023. While the use of "zen shuchu" may be less common these days, immersing myself in the soy sauce tantanmen sea reminiscent of the Chinese Sichuan cuisine of "Kikkawa" under the guidance of Hachigo, a disciple of Sugita Kichi, feels like an honor. "Jigenmu" means endless longevity, as written on the walls of the restaurant, symbolizing a long and prosperous life. The restaurant is a continuation of the legacy of Chen Kenmin, the father of Sichuan cuisine in Japan. It's also located in Ueno. Now, about the "Paiko Tantanmen" - I ordered the noodles firm and extra spicy. I've never specified my preference at other restaurants, but when asked here, I decided to go with the rice option too.

The classic tantanmen is recommended. The thin noodles are delicious as they cling to the sauce. You can choose the firmness of the noodles and the level of spiciness. It's not too spicy, so even those who don't like spicy food can enjoy it. If you find regular tantanmen lacking, but the pricier pork tantanmen is a bit much, the steamed chicken tantanmen for under 1000 yen is a good option. Lunch comes with complimentary rice. The fact that each table is provided with water and napkins is appreciated. The only downside is that they only accept cash payments.

Jugemu's Jugemu Horidome in the Ningyocho and Nihonbashi Horidome-cho area of Tokyo, Japan is a favorite restaurant near the office. Whenever craving for tantanmen, this is the go-to place. The interior has more of a ramen shop vibe than a traditional Chinese feel. Unlike other tantanmen, the one at Jugemu's has a sharp and clean taste with a crisp soy sauce flavor, rather than being overly spicy or strong on sesame. The dish pairs perfectly with the thin, low water content noodles, and rice is a must-have to complement the meal. For those looking to enjoy tantanmen, a visit to Jugemu's is highly recommended!

I visited around 1 PM on a regular day. There were a few customers, but I was able to sit down comfortably. It was my fifth visit. I'm not a big fan of tantanmen, but I quite like the one here. I ordered the Tantanmen for 900 yen. It was delicious as always. The soup was just the right thickness and the thin noodles were great at soaking up the soup.
